Fantasy's Willful Heart
Chapter Nine:
Ease Dropping At Keade's Village And The Secret Appears Again!
Sesshomaru watches Inuyasha and Kagome with ears twitching lightly. Ever since Vickie came back from the conversation with Sheila, her orders were simple.
Listen and report.
He understood fully that his little sister was worried now and would need some proof of innocence or guilt on both Sheila's and Kagome's part.
Thus he listens as Kagome talks to Inuyasha…
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“I want you to stay away from her,” Kagome purrs into Inuyasha's ear, “she's dangerous. She can't be trusted.”
Inuyasha just nods. Kagome made him very nervous now and he didn't want to anger her anymore than he usually did, “Fine,” he growls, “whatever.”
“You know I love you,” Kagome looks at him with what she hopes is a serious face, “right Inuyasha?”
Inuyasha finally pushes her away and stands with a glare to cover his doubts and fears of what he didn't understand of that loaded four lettered word, “I said fine already! It's time to go.”
Kagome smiles with false cheeriness, getting up and hugging Inuyasha before going back over to Sango and Miroku to ready herself for the last part of the journey to Keade's Village.
Inuyasha sighs, looking over at his older brother to find him staring back and goes ahead of everyone…
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sesshomaru isn't the only one watching the couple carefully. Sheila checks everyone's packs, commenting sparingly about Yusuke's beer at the bottom of his bag before following Inuyasha and his group to a nearby village that they call Keade's Village.
“It's named after an old priestess name Keade,” Vickie explains, walking beside Sheila in hopes of her answer, “I told you a little about her.”
Sheila nods, smiling impatiently at Vickie, “Are you gonna be hovering all over me like this until I give you an answer?”
“Yep!”
Sheila sweatdrops, “Oh boy.”
“My brother is important to me Sheila,” Vickie says lowly, “I don't want Kagome to hurt him.”
“Vickie…”
“I know he can take care of himself,” Vickie quickly forces herself to smile, “but it would be nice for him to have a girl that he could love!”
Sheila blushes, “You think he could learn to…to love me?”
“Of course,” Vickie laughs, “if I could get you to believe that I really do live in Feudal Era Japan than anything is possible!”
Sheila glares at Vickie with a teasing smile, “And who says that I believe you?”
“Ah come on,” Vickie starts to fuss, “look around you! There are villages and demons and everything!”
“This could easily be some kind of Halloween Town.”
Sheila laughs as Vickie stares at her with a pout.
“You aren't funny,” Vickie sulks.
“I'm sorry,” Sheila finally breathes after her laughter, “but you have to admit that this is a bit much even for me to believe!”
“But you believe?”
“Yes Vickie,” Sheila stops teasing her friend with a light smile, “I believe you…But I still need time to see how I feel about all of this.”
“Excuse me ladies.”
Sheila and Vickie blink at Miroku's smiling face.
“I just wanted you to know how much of a pleasure it is to be traveling with you, miss.”
Sheila tilts her head with a frown, “Um…thank you, I guess.”
Miroku closes in on Sheila, her eyes widening as he takes her hand into his, “I know how hard it can be to have a sibling that doesn't understand you. I had no one to depend on when I was little and no one seemed to want to help.”
“Really,” Sheila says with slight sarcasm, pulling her hand from his, “Well now you have good friends and a girlfriend.”
“Why do you say this,” Miroku asks with an offended frown, “I only wish to relate to you in some way.”
“We're both traveling,” Sheila says bluntly, walking around Miroku, “that should be enough if you ask me.”
“Such cruelty,” Miroku pouts, causing Vickie to laugh.
“Let it go Miroku,” Vickie sings teasingly, “my new friend can't be charmed.”
“Alright everyone,” Inuyasha shouts out, “we're here!”
Sheila frowns as she looks at the village, “It's rather small.”
“Most of them are,” Vickie explains.
“I hope it's not too much on you sis,” Kagome says, placing her arm under and over Inuyasha's, “I could always show you the way back home.”
“I know where home is more than you do,” Sheila smiles, “although I'll admit that I've yet to know much about the math of how wide the legs can get to make enough room for the whole of Tokyo in its `angle'.”
Kagome glares daggers at her sister before throwing her nose in the air and virtually dragging Inuyasha further into Keade's Village. Sheila narrows her eyes in determination.
“You guys stick with Vickie,” she orders her friends.
“And where do you think you're going girl,” asks the ugly green toad thing that travels with Sesshomaru, “you could get killed out here!”
“I think you're in more danger of an unknown death than I am,” Sheila threatens, “do you want to find out how I'd do it, Jaken?”
Jaken swallows nervously, actually hiding behind Rin, “N-n-no! I-I know enough!”
“That's what I thought.”
“But where are you going, Sheila,” Keiko asks.
“Just to check things out,” Sheila reassures her little group, “I won't go chasing after demons with firecrackers, I promise!”
Sheila's group laughs as she takes off to exploring the village. She didn't want to tell them that she was really about to question everyone about Kagome and Inuyasha. If Vickie was right about this being the feudal era, then word of mouth was the main way to communicate things of importance, so gossip would be worshipped as something good.
Looking tiredly at the blabbering women standing in front of the shops and their homes, Sheila decides to talk to the men first. ~I'll start back near the well~ she thought ~then work my way up past Keade's house~
She waves hopefully at some farmers with only their boss having the nerve to wave back, “Hello,” Sheila says as friendly as she could, “I'm new to the area and was wondering if you could tell me something.”
“Um, sure,” The old man smiles, “I'm Yoshimura. What can I tell you?”
“I've noticed a girl and a strange demon wandering the village,” Sheila says with a fake frown, “I found it a bit odd, but everyone says that they are just Kagome and Inuyasha. What can you tell me about them?”
“Well, it's not my business,” Yoshimura starts out in order to seem humble in his gossiping, “but the young lady Kagome seems to be the demon's master!”
Sheila honestly looks surprised, “Really? Wow…that is a shock! However does she control him?”
“Lady Keade gave her the Beads of Subjugation.”
“The Beads of Subjugation?”
Yoshimura nods, “They are the beads around the demon's neck and they allow the little girl to control him,” he smiles, “so you have nothing to worry about. The demon is almost like a village pet with that girl taming it.”
Sheila tries to look relieved, “Thank you friend, I shall keep you in my prayers,” she says, politely bowing to him and walking away.
“Hey, young lady!”
Sheila turns back around, “Huh?”
“If ya ever need to grow anything or need some fresh fruits and veggies, don't be scared to ask,” Yoshimura laughs, “it's the least I can do for your kindness of talking to me.”
“Thank you, Yoshimura,” Sheila once again bows, “I would like that a lot.”
Sheila continues on, talking to a traveling salesman, “Pardon me, salesman.”
“Yes,” the young salesman smiles at Sheila wonderingly, “Is something the matter?”
“Well, there is something bothering me,” Sheila admits, “Do you travel to this village often?”
The salesman nods, “This is my favorite place to sale. The people buy a lot and just love to hear outside gossip from the different villages and towns that I've visited.”
“Then you would know about a girl and a demon name Kagome and Inuyasha?”
“Oh, yeah,” the salesman laughs, “I know all about the young priestess from another time and the demon that she controls and loves.”
Sheila tilts her head, “Love?”
“Yes, or at least lusts after,” the salesman smiles with a far away look, “I've come plenty of times to see her yell `sit' and try to climb all over him, claiming to want to help heal his wounds!”
Sheila frowns, “I see.”
“Don't worry,” the salesman says in reassurance, “I've seen her with some of the young village men as well. She just likes male attention and I guess it's pretty addictive to have a strong male demon as a constant companion.”
“Yeah,” Sheila agrees, “I can see how that could be true.”…
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sheila finally finishes talking to the villagers with a sigh. Everything she heard from the men, women and children were basically the same: Inuyasha was Kagome's pet, controlled guardian, demon slave, forced lover or indebted friend. Yet, no matter how they said it, it all sounds the same to Sheila.
Kagome was definitely hurting Inuyasha.
“But why is he tolerating it,” Sheila questions out loud, walking to Keade's house, “It just doesn't make sense! I'll just have to talk to his group myself!”…
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sesshomaru watches as Sheila goes inside Keade's home with a determine look in her eyes, his ears finally able to stop twitching, “Interesting,” he thinks out loud, “she's spying on Kagome and Inuyasha for her own proof.”
“And I'm spying on you while you're spying on her while she's spying too.”
Sesshomaru turns with his sword in his hands, glaring hotly at a short male with hair sticking straight up, “Hiei,” Sesshomaru acknowledges the other demon with a nod, putting away his sword, “how unpleasant.”
“Ditto,” Hiei agrees, “but it's my job now.”
Sesshomaru raises a brow.
Hiei looks away, “I find her strength and bravery…impressive.”
“In other words,” Sesshomaru answers almost in annoyance, “she beat your ass and gained your respect.”
Hiei blushes, “Shut up,” he glances over at the entrance of Keade's house to see Sheila coming out with Sango, Shippo and Miroku, “Quiet. She's talking again.”…
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Sorry about dragging you out like this,” Sheila begins, “but it's a bit personal.”
“It's OK,” Sango says, “we don't mind.”
“But I was drinking juice,” Shippo whines.
“I'm so sorry Shippo,” Sheila smiles at the cute little fox, “I'll get you another one, I promise.”
“So,” Miroku looks keenly at her, “what's the problem?”
“I'm a little worried about my sister,” Sheila lies, “she didn't tell me anything about you guys or Inuyasha. Luckily, Vickie has taken to introducing me and I know all of you now,” she admits before they could start to reintroduce themselves, “but she won't tell me much of anything about how this relationship thing has happened between her brother and my sister,” Sheila looks modest, “I know my sister and I don't get along very well, but I would like to know as much about her as I can.”
Sango nods in agreement, buying into the plea, “That's understandable.”
Miroku smiles, trying to once again grab hold of Sheila's hands, “I'll tell you whatever I know,” he tries to sound charming, “there should be no secrets between us.”
Sango sweatdrops with a glare, “Miroku.”
“First of all, there is no us,” Sheila growls, standing out of Miroku's hungry reach, “And all I want to really know about is how everything is going with my sister and my new best friend's brother, Inuyasha,” she smiles over at Sango, “are they doing OK together?”
Sango glances a little sadly at Miroku and Shippo, “Actually, not to be in their business or anything, we all suspect that something has gone really wrong between the two.”
~Bingo!~ Sheila thought, “Really? Like what?”
“Kagome doesn't stay around like she use to,” Shippo states with a frown, “she use to almost always be around, but now all she wants to do is take baths and baby sit her little brother.”
Sango sighs, “He's right. Kagome is rarely here and Inuyasha has actually taken to avoiding her as much as possible.”
“That's right,” Miroku says with a curt, serious nod, “and when he can't avoid her, Kagome seems to be…overbearing.”
Sheila looks at him in confusion, “Overbearing?”
“Yes,” Sango answers, “she's been all over him lately and keeps reminding him over and over of how she loves him and how he should love her.”
“That's why we think something is wrong,” Miroku finishes, once again getting too close to Sheila, “But enough of that depressing news,” he exclaims with a smile way to bright to be innocent, “Why don't you tell me more about you.”
“One thing I can say about me,” Sheila says through gritted teeth, pulling back the long sleeves of her spandex/leather black shirt that matches her pants, “I'm gonna really enjoy kicking your ass, ya sick pervert,” she exclaims, knocking Miroku to the ground and promptly giving him a royal beating that consists of punches, kicks and a whole lot of curse words.
Shippo sweatdrops, “Should we help him?”
Sango just walks back into Keade's house, “Nope.”…
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
By nightfall, Sheila has talked to everyone, even Priestess Keade herself, about Inuyasha and Kagome and knows one thing for sure.
No body truly knows what Kagome was doing to Inuyasha.
It bothers her that no one could tell her exactly what Kagome was doing to make Inuyasha actually tolerate her sister's abuse and her brain mulls over it now as she eats dinner with the others.
“Wow I'm stuffed,” Joey says in obvious joy, patting his bulging belly.
“Me too,” Shippo burps while leaning against Joey, both looking like Fat Twins.
“I'm gonna go,” Inuyasha says suddenly, getting up and leaving out.
Sheila frowns. She hadn't seen Inuyasha eat anything and was worried.
“Wait a minute Inuyasha,” Kagome calls, not even glancing at Sheila as she runs out the door after the demon.
Sheila waits until everyone is too busy conversing or laying around to quietly get up and leave, not realizing that Vickie has seen her as she goes into the chilly night air.
Seeing Kagome and Inuyasha in the distance, Sheila follows them a while until they stop in the middle of a very secluded spot.
“You promised Inuyasha,” Kagome huffs, “I thought you loved me!”
“I do love you,” Inuyasha says, clearly nervous, “I'm just not in the mood for…that.”
“It's not a `that' Inuyasha,” Kagome shouts, Sheila being able to see the fake tears all the way from where she's hiding in the thick undergrowth, “It's called sex! And that's what I want! Now sit and shut up!”
BAM!!
Sheila almost leaps out at seeing Inuyasha hit the ground with extreme force, watching in horror as he allows Kagome to turn him over and tug at his pants.
“Kagome-”
“No back-talk, Inuyasha,” Kagome purrs in deceptive sweetness, “if you would just love me like you're supposed to, I wouldn't have to go through this pain.”
Sheila grits her teeth, angry with herself for not being able to do nothing but watch Kagome force Inuyasha into sex. Angry with Inuyasha for letting Kagome play on his guilt and shame so that she could take advantage of him.
Angry at Kagome for even having the nerve to rape a man under the pretense of love just for sex.
Watching until her disgusting sister orgasms loudly while jerking on Inuyasha's cock, Sheila finally leaves quietly with disturbed and pained thoughts. She didn't even notice Vickie until the other girl grabs hold of her.
“What's wrong Sheila,” Vickie asks, seeing the sad and angry look in Sheila's eyes, “What's going on?”
Just then Sesshomaru also shows up along with Hiei, both frowning with a dark hate glowing in their eyes.
“We need to go someplace private,” Sheila says lowly, not having the will or emotional strength to act strong.
Vickie nods, the tiny group walking away from Keade's house to the vacant and creepy meadow near the Bone Eater's Well.
“Vickie,” Sheila begins with shame, “my-my sister just raped your brother not too long ago.”
Vickie turns pale, “No…”
Sesshomaru nods, “It's true.”
“We both followed Sheila there,” Hiei explains, “it's definitely the exact same girl that raped and beat him last time.”
Vickie falls on her butt near the well, her eyes distant with pain and confusion, “But…why…?”
“Inuyasha wouldn't have sex with her willingly,” Sheila continues to explain, “so she used his own guilt and shame against him.”
“I'll kill her,” Vickie immediately growls, standing up and readying to go hunt down that bitch, “I'm gonna fucking kill her!”
“No Vickie,” Sheila says firmly, “you must pretend that you don't know.”
“WHY?!?!?!”
“Think of Inuyasha,” Sesshomaru answers simply.
Sheila nods in agreement, “He may not understand what's happening to him. If he finds out that you know what's going on, his shame might make him run away from you.”
Vickie's eyes fill up with tears, her voice thick and whining, “Well then what the hell are we supposed to do? That's my brother,” she cries, “That's my brother!”
Sheila holds her friend, rubbing her back to comfort her, “There, there,” she soothes in a mothering way, “Don't you worry,” Sheila has a murderous look in her eyes, “I'll talk to Inuyasha myself if I have to.”…
~Meanwhile~
“Have you found her?”
“No yet, my master,” a voice answers, “she travels much.”
“Then find her! Do not leave any stone unturned! Find me the girl that will help me get the Vessel!”
“It shall be as you wish, my master,” the voice echoes as it goes away into the suffocating darkness…
