Chapter 5

A few seconds earlier...

Deathscythe loomed under the disquised transport, undetected due to to it's stealth systems and silent-running thrusters. 500 meters below awaited the three Command Wolf DS's, each pilots itching to finally get into some action. But, patience was the key at this moment, and one mistake would give the enemy their locations, screwing up the whole mission.

"Yeah.. Like openin' a can 'o peaches.." Deathscythe's beam scythe burst to like in the icy waters, and with a quick sweep, burned through the transports under-belly. Another motion brought the high-powered energy blade into a circular pattern until the section of hulk fell away into the murky depths.

Montel pushed his thruster to full, jetting away from the vessel. "Blow dis' bitch!!" he yelled.

Twelve high-yeild torpedoes zero'ed in on the opening..

At the same time...

A scene appeared before Ranma with an image of Ruri Hoshino. "Ten columns approaching the valley captain."

Ranma, in his normal form, nodded. "Tell the DH's on the mountain ta not to fire 'til the enemy gets half-way through the pass. Got it?"

"Aye, captain."

"Sanders and Wolf-Two take points 1 and 2 on the north-side of the pass. Three and Four take points 4 and 6 on the southern cliff."

"Roger."

"Yessir!"

"No prob' bob."

"Copy that."

Sanders radio'ed in. "Were will you be sir?" Ranma had this playful smirk, usually only scene while Id was in control.

"Right here." Weltall stood at the choke of the valley exit, the only land entrance to the city. "I'll hold then off while you guys engage them on by command. You see them trying to escape or redirect.. Switch to plan B."

"... What's plan B again?"

"Dunno. Ya can figure out somethin' right?"

Many groans could be heard.

Ruri's face lifted up from her console in the command room. "Baka."

Phhhsssstttt.....!!! BOOOOMM!!!

"Major Schwarz! Incomming enemy fire!!"

Schwarz started shouting out orders. "Spread out and take cover within the city! Move out now! Four through 10 take fire at enemy units over at that ridge! Medic's get to the four downed units!" He turned his Iron Kong toward the northern ridge and started to rain fire upon the high earth.

"All dead sir. Cockpits destroyed." One of the medics reported.

The Red Horn followed by a few other zoids moved into the city, while most stayed near their commander. "Move out now! Head into the--- ARGH!!" A missle rocked the side of the huge Kong, nearly toppling it over. Karl Schwarz was lucky his Zoid was made to take that type of damage.

One of his soldiers called in. "Sir! Source of missle bombardment located. Patching to you."

"One?" Karl's eyes went wide when an image of the ridge came into view. A lone Command Wolf with a type of missle pack that rotated on it's back was firing at his units with deadly accuracy. It suddenly retreated after taking some fire. "Pull back to the transport. They knew we were comming all along! Fall Back no---.." A huge flash of light stopped him.

"The transport sir!!"

BOOOOOMM!! BOOOOMM!! BOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!

Multiple explosions sounded from the hidden transport vessel. More explosions rocked the vessel, in turn causing it to suddenly break in half and slowly sink into the depths of the bay, taking all hands and zoids along with it.

"No...." Schwarz mumbles. How could the Republic have know that they were comming? The Pteras they shot down earlier did not send out any transmissions in time. The spy they captured 9 days ago was executed before he found out the whole plan to attack the Republic. How? How could they have known?

Schwarz made up his mind. "Move into the city at once. If we cannot go home, we will at least finish accomplish our mission. We shall not fail, even if it means our deaths! Are you with me men?!!" He recieved nothing but cheers. "The move out!"

"Oh no you don't." Shiro locked onto a few of the Heldi Gunners. Five rockets speeded toward the zoids.

One of the pilots warning lights came on. "Incomming!! Incomming! Incomm----" A rocket impacted and completely destroyed his cockpit.

"Damn!" Schwarz grumbled. "Find that zoid and destroyed it!"

The Gairos ground forces, consisting of 40 zoids total, continued it's march through the desert valley. Their target was New Helic City, and right now their own forces should of successfully made their surprise attack to weaken the city defenses so they could finish them off.

The commander, the pilot of a Red Horn that was leading the march, suddenly commanded his company to stop. Up ahead he could faintly point out a humanoid-type zoid standing far away at the end of the valley. His sensor man couldn't detect any others, so he assumed that the zoid ahead of him was alone.

What was strange is that the unit had no designation or insignia signifying if it was a Republic mecha. He messaged the unit to check it out.

"This is the Commander of the Gairos Zoid column to the unknown black zoid. We are currently on an assigned route that you are currently standing in. Please step aside or we will use deadly force." He didn't know if the zoid's pilot was civilian or not, and he didn't want to take the chance.

"Move out of the way?" Ranma replied. "Sure no problem. Only if you do me one favor."

The commander was a little upset. "No favors, kid. Move out of our way. Your standing between us and our objective."

"And what would that be, hm?"

"Isn't it obvious, moron? Are going to destroy that city!" Ranma started laughing loudly, causing the commander to become more upset. "What the fuck are you laughing at?! Target that zoid and fire!"

"I'm laughing because your stupid enough to fall into a trap!"

"What?!"

Ranma signalled Naomi. "Naomi! Hit the leader now!"

The Gun Sniper positioned on the darkside of the mountains facing the city, locked into place. Naomi's seat turned inside the cockpit and flattened out until she was connected with the gun controls. A reticle appeared in her sight and she quickly zero'd into the Red Horn leader. Specifically the cockpit.

Outside, the Gun Sniper's tail snapped into place and the head lowered. The body moved as one until it was tilted at an angle aimed at the Red Horn.

"One shot. One kill." Naomi pulled the trigger.

A 88mm slug barked out of the tail end of the zoid and traveled the 2 mile distance. The Red Horn's head exploded and the zoid collapsed to the ground.

Naomi marked a 1 on a pad next to her.

Weltall's boosters ignited and the gear charged into the confused Zoids. He blasted right down the middle, causing main of the enemy to side-step or actually fall over from the wake created.

Finally woken up, the zoids started to spread out and fire at the black zoid.

Ranma was a more supurb pilot than his other-half. Unlike Id, or Ranko whom had the ability to tap into Weltall's hidden power, Ranma still had his own talents; his martial arts transcending from his mind into his piloting skills.

Weltall did multiple backflips, quickly dodging enemy fire. He rolled to the right and leaped at the closest zoid; a Heldi gunner. A swift flying kick easily dismembered the head/cockpit from the body. Like Spiderman, Ranma sixth sense warned him of immediate danger. A roll forward barely dodged a strike-laser claw from an enemy Saber-fang.

Charging forward, a quick back-hand stunned the pilot of the Saber-fang just enough for a roundhouse to connect, knocking it down.

An incomming whistling sound alerted Ranma.

"Uh oh..." Weltall's boosters suddenly fired, bullets barely missing the black gear, as Ranma forced himself to retreat.

The whistle was comming closer.

Gairos Zoids started quickly advancing onto Ranma, but he was too fast for them. He zig-zagged, hopped, and rolled out of the way of enemy ordinance. "Sanders get ready."
"Aye sir." Came the reply.

Impact.

Twin explosions tore up the ground around a few zoids. Dust, smoke and debri flew up obscuring vision slightly. Gairos pilots started scanning the area, looking for enemy zoids besides the black humanoid in the vacinity. Nothing was comming up on their scopes.

They heard another whistle-like sound.

"INCOMMING ARTILLERY!!"

The warning was too late. Several grouped zoids suddenly exploded, taking out other zoids in their wake or either sending out chunks or shrapnel that damaged others. They started to spread out, but another pair of accurate 360mm shells exploded, one tearing up the ground making a zoid fall in, and the other obliterating another.

One of the veteran pilots signalled his comrades. "Retreat! Retreat! Enemy is too far out to attack! Retreat to home-base!"

Gairos zoids quickly started to make their way out.

The Red Comet zoomed in onto a Gairos Zaber-fang. Naomi quickly pulls the trigger.

One of the remaining Saber-fangs tries to make it up the hill near Sander's position, but it's head section suddenly explodes, killing the pilot.

Naomi makes another 1 on her pad.

The city may have been evacuated of civilians and totally pitch-black, but a few streets were barely lit-up by the burning remains of CDF armored divisions.
Another CDF tank goes up in flames. The gatling gun on the Red Horn stops spitting it's fiery death.
"Marcus to Squad. Fire at anything that moves. The republic knew we were comming, so might as well show them what the Empire is all about!" His Red Horn charged down the streets leading his squad. Being that his Zoid was faster, the Molgas and Heldi gunners were lagging behind.

Marcus turned a corner and passed a set of trees. What he didn't know is that he passed one of the CDF's hidden MK-X Defender units.

"D-1 to base. I have visual on single enemy zoid. Red-horn. Permission to fire?"

A vid-screen with Ruri pops up. "Negative." A top-view of his location appears. "Ignore Red horn. Destroy approaching units. Recommended to wait until they pass before firing." The vid disappears.

"Aye, aye." so he waited.

As the Red Horn turned a corner, 6 more zoids started cross his line of vision. 3 Molgas, 2 Heldi gunners and 1 Diloforce. They slowly traversed his line of sight, randomly shooting cars and buildings along their path. A few harrasser-class tanks tried shooting at them, but they soon joined the others.

Luckily they were un-manned.

Soon, the enemy started turning the corner.

The Defender's leg-jet boosters fired, launching the mecha into the air. After reaching a certain height, it quickly dropped, landing against the ground creating spider-web cracks. The impact caught the attention of the enemy and they started turning around.

Not fast enough.

The Defender's twin 100mm Autocannons raised and fired. Slug penetrators and tracers barked from the quad cannons at high velocity catching the 6 zoids off guard. Armor started to literally tear off of the bodies, exposing the chassis and internal electronics. Body parts were cuts off by bullets like a hot-knife through butter.

A single shell severed the head off of the Diloforce.

The Defender pilot started to run around the zoids, continuously firing his guns. After a moment, the enemy zoids collapsed from the beating they took. Nothing was truly left but scrap and totally damaged armor and frames of the zoids.

"Sector 4 Clear."

A similiar scenario was played just a few blocks away.

D-2, the 2nd Defender robot ducked behind a skyscraper as a group of 10 enemy Gun Tigers approach his location. He sweated. Of course he was a newbie, but he had alot of time in simulators to be skilled at piloting.

Real-life is never like a simulation.

10 enemy zoids .50 clicks away and approaching fast, unaware of his position. He was hidding behind the tallest building in the city, surrounded by other tall buildings two to four times the height of the 25ft tall Gun Tigers. A 4-lane street was the only avenue for ground combat, but air-to-ground....?
He scanned around, checking out the buildings. To the right, 5 buildings set up to look like a turning stairwell leading up to the top of the skyscraper, each with enough distance for his booster to climb up without overheating.

They were getting closer.

Fire escaped the back of the Defender's legs as it jet-jumped to the lowest building in the stair-set he chose. Landing atop that building, he had his mecha run towards the next building then jumped up to that one. He continued this until he reached the fourth building in the set.

One of the zoids spotted him.

In mid-jump toward the skyscraper, all 10 Gun Tigers opened fired upon him. Shells ricocheted off of his armor, not really doing any significant damage but knocking him off balance from the sudden fire. Warning signals flared in his cockpit, telling him that he was losing altitude. Thinking quickly, he fired his boosters again, pushing them to their limits to barely reach the skyscraper roof top. "Phew." he wiped the sweat from his brow.

Now for the enemy.

Wolf team was ready for the enemy retreat as Ranma predicted. With the swiftness of their team and zoid name-sakes, they quickly swooped in onto the enemy from all sides. Several warning shots were fired to try and draw their attention, sort of rounding up the herd.

As the Gairos zoids started to bunch together, Wolf team began circling the 30 or so zoids, twin 120mm turrents pointed in their direction. Shells erupted from the cannons, disabling the enemy mecha and freezing their command systems.

A long-ranged shot took out another cockpit of a zoid. Naomi marked another on her pad.

Ruri appeared in a vid in Sanders cockpit. "Orders from Commander Bud. Capture enemy pilots." Then disappeared. Sanders broke off from the circle and ascended atop of a mangled Gairos zoid.

"Gairos army. This is Sgt. Sanders of the Wolf-team representing New Helic Civil Defense Force. You are instructed to deactivate your zoids and surrender peacefully. I will not repeat myself again." He aimed his turrent at the last zoids that remained standing. "I repeat, surrender peacefully."

Marcus slowly traversed down the darkened streets. Ever since he realized that his squad was destroyed behind him, he started to take more caution in his approach of attack. Using a map uploaded to him weeks ago by a spy that escaped from the Republic army, he made his way towards the Civil section of the city; specifically the Presidental residence.

"Marcus to Schwarz. Come in." He called over his radio. The Red-Horn cautiously turned a corner, it's gatling cannon spinning in preperation to fire.

Nothing but darkened, un-lit street.

He didn't get a reply. Could the commander be dead?

"Stupid enemy!" Karl Schwarz curse. "Took out my radio!"

Probably not, Marcus thought.

A tank rolled into his sights, turrent facing him. "Hmm.." he smiled. The tank exploded from a single shot from a mounted pulse cannon. "Finally some light." He moved forward past an alley.

A pair of red eyes glowed in the darkened alleyway as he passed.

20 miles above sea-level, CDF Commander Buddy Arnold piloted his YF-19 "Alpha One" in a circular patern high above the city of New Helic. He knew that he should be down there commanding, but with the sudden detection of enemy air units, he had to break away from his plan and take patrol above the clouds.

Actually, only one zoid could reach this altitude, but he doubted the Gairos Empire had an Raynos pteranodon type zoids.

"Ruri-chan. Status on enemy blimps you detected earlier?"

"Altitude 14km distance 40km and approaching fast from coordinants Zero-Five-Five-One-Seven. Large blimp, delieved to be air transport vehicle. Multiple smaller blimps, possiable air-type zoids." Ruri stated through her usual vid window.

"Status of our ground troops?"

"We have lost several of our remote tanks as expected, and have only taken minor damage to our Zoids. Capt. Saotome reports that Valley sector has been secured. Capt. Montel has destroyed the sea carrier and is now moving on land. Red-Zero is currently keeping radio silence as instructed. DH units have ceased action as enemy units are now within the city. Defender-one has radar contact from within city limits." A radar image popped up showing enemy positions. "Enemy is spread throughout the city, and slowly making their way towards base and Industral sectors."

Buddy started to get pissed. The empire was making more progress than he expected. The game of chess was begining to get harder as the other side moved. "Contact Montel and have him and his Sea-Wolves intercept the enemy. Move Black Knights to coordinates Zero-Zero-Five-Two-Niner."

"Sir? Why 00529?"

"Fire-control," Bud winked. "Trust me, Ruri-Ruri."

"Aye."

"Imagine?"

Defender-Two took in the situation.. again.

Here he was, atop a building with 10 enemy Gun Tigers waiting for him to poke some part of his zoid out so they can fire at him. He tried several times to fire down at them, only to result in taking in enemy fire from below.

He was kinda assed if he didn't think of something quick.
There was not any type of scenario like this in the simulators. This was the first time he has even been in a situation like this. Stranded stop a high-rise surrounded by enemys waiting for him to show and fire at him. Even if he jump-jetted over to the next building he---

Jump to the next building....

BAM! BAM! BAM!

He started hitting his head on the controls.

"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!!!" He jammed the throttle forward putting his mech into a run. Igniting the jump-jets the Defender boosted itself high into the air. He turn his guns downward and took quick aim at the enemy zoids while keeping control under fire.

High velocity slugs rained down onto a couple of the Gun Tigers, but the inaccurate fire caused minimal damage. He gritted his teeth as his mech landed roughly onto the target building.

The enemy started to spread out.

"This is D-2! I'm pinned down and need assistance!" He charged along the roof tops, close to the ledges. Turning his mecha's torso 90 degrees to the left, he aimed down and started strafing along the streets trying to get a good shot at one of the zoids or at lease take one out. The Defenders jets fired, lauching it it up to a slightly higher building.

Quad cannons barked out slugs at deadly speeds, but with the Defender at full speed moving and jumping along buildings, accuracy was greatly reduced. D-2's pilot jetted directly across the 4-lane streets to land on the opposite block. While in mid-air, he twisted his torso with the quickness, taking aim at any of the 10 zoids and firing as quikly as he can. He ran across the building then tried jumping diagnally towards a building across the street again.

All 10 Gun Tigers fired at the same time.

"Oh shiiiiiit!!" The Defender zoid tipped forward from a concentrated shot to the back, it's legs smashing into the corners of the building. Luckily, he was able to still use his jump-jets and force himself onto the rooftop.

"huhh... huhh... huhhh!!" His heart was racing and his breathing was comming his gasp. This shit was intense, he thought. "Someone out there help me! Shit!" he screamed over the comm net.

He got a reply he didn't expect.

"No one will help you now, Republic Scum. How stop being a coward a die." One of the enemy pilots replied to his plea. "Die like the scum you are. Die!"

Die. Die. Die. Die. Die.

That word repeated in his mind. He didn't want to die. It wasn't his time. No! It wasn't his time yet! Damn it! He hasn't even gotten a piece of that pussy yet! He will not die! Not now!

Not until he gets some pussy!

"Noooooooo!!!" he screamed! Jump-jets fired, lifting him off of the building and down onto the enemy forces. His cannons blazed as he dropped, raining down on one of the surprised Gun Tigers. His mech landed, completely crushing the blasted zoid. Shells and light laser shots rained onto his Defender, but he started moving.

His torso section twisted quickly, cannons shooting with deadly precision. Two Gairos zoids destroyed. A shot from one Gun Tiger took out his radar antenna. His jets fired, jumping his mech over a zoid while raining down high-velocity shells tearing apart the tiger.

Four down so far.

The last remaining six zoids started teaming up and blasting the Defender. Concentrated shots took out both gun arms, then soon a leg. Missles streaked from one Tiger, impacting against the torso section. The left torso blew up due to internal explosions. Luckily the pilot was protected by extra armor.

"This is it huh..?" He breathed. "I... die without .. getting pussy. Fuck...." He heard explosions.

Mini-Missles streaked in from behind the Gun Tigers, blasting 4 of them to pieces while killing the pilots at the same time. A sudden flare and a green light sliced the 2 remaining zoids in half.

"D-2. Come in D-2." A slightly urban accented voice called over the Tac-Net. "Hey niggah! Get ya ass in gear! Fukin' virgin!"

"Huh?" D-2's pilot was slightly confused. He wasn't dead? "What...?" A shadowy figure appeared before Defender-Two, a beam scythe held in one hand.

Montel dropped his cloak, revealing Deathscythe and his three DS variant Command Wolf Comrads. He reared Deathscythes unarmed hand, bitch-slapping the Defender unit. "Wake up ya ho! Stop bein' and ass and get back to base! We'll take it from here."

The pilot was still sort of out of it but he understood an order when he heard it. "Aye-aye Captain."

Montel switched to his teams private channel. "Aight guys. DS-Two is with me. One and Three; head to Burke Street and sweep for survivors and enemy units. Save ammo, aight? Coo." His gundam and DS-two charged down the opposite direction.

DS-Three looked at one. The wolves seemed to shrugg.

Hold it. Patients.

She zero'd in on a lone zoid hanging around the shore section where the carrier and the landing group use to be. With the zoids back turned towards her, she didn't have a shot at it's head, but it's back...

Steady... Aim...

She locked onto the mid section, making sure one of her armor piercing rounds are loaded.

Hold it... Now! She pulled the trigger.

A 88mm slug exited the tail-barrel with a loud blast. Mercilessly, it tore into the back of the unsuspecting Saber-Fang. An explosioned followed, destroying the zoid and turning some of the surrounding sand into glass from the intense heat.

"One more for the good guys." She made another notch on her pad. Count 4.

"Commander! Where are we heading?!" A soldier contacted his commander.

Major Karl Schwarz piloted his Iron Kong through the streets of New Helic's down-town area, heading towards their destination. "We are heading towards the presidental residents. From there, we'll destroy the building and following buildings around it. Spys reported a base built nearby. Possiably the units that ambushed us."

"You heard that men?! We're gonna hit these assholes good!" Cheers were his response.

Schwarz maneuvered over a car, crushing it under the Kong's feet in his rush. His group of 15 zoids passed a run-down building set up for demolition. They also crossed the intersection of the street they are on, and Burke.

The Major's Zoid suddenly voiced a warning. -Enemy Power-up Detected. Enemy power-up Detected- "Damn. Sergent!" He called his squad-leader. "Enemies detected. Take half the squad and cover my flank. The rest of you, come with me!" The team broke up in two, with Schwarz leading the larger half towards their destination. The Sergent's group of six slowly followed, but more at a leisurely pace, not wanting to be ambushed.

"Caution boys. Commander said we got reds around." A voice not belonging to his men contacted him.

"The only red you'll see is your own blood. Get'em!"

DS-One and Three jumped out from their hidding place in a Burke Street alley. Micro missles streaking from the wing-pods on the sides of the Wolves towards the two Molgas units. Both went up in balls of flames, but their pilots fortunatly ejected.

"DS-One. Out of missles."

"Copy One. Three out also."

The last 3 Molgas and Heldi gunner started returning fire quickly. The two sea-wolves started falling back taking hit after hit. Reaching a corner, DS-Three turned the corner but as One was comming around...

BOOOMM!

"Shit! My gyro's and engines be hit I'm not g-----" DS-One's engine exploded, taking the whole zoid with it.

"Three to Leader. One's been killed." No reply. "Damn." Time to get outta here, he thought. Throwing the throttle to full, DS-Three charge out of the alley into enemy fire. Igniting the twin high-powered turbines on the back, Three rocketed forward from the added propulsion. His piloting skills showed as he leap into buildings, running along the side of them until he passed up the 4 Gairos zoids. He might of dodged them but he didn't lose them as they soon followed him back down the opposite way as they came.

One again they passed the ruined building.

A figure entered the building.

This time, they detected an enemy powering up.

"Deep-Sea Three! This is Black Knight-Alpha! Take cover." BK-Alpha's targeting screen came up showing the 4 enemy targets. Multiple reticles locked onto the zoids until a ping sounded. Target's locked on. Torso mounted hatches opened up revealing an array of missles.

"Light my fire baby!" Missles streaked out from top to bottom, twisting in mid-flight before completely incinerating their targets. Just to top it off, the BK-Alpha pilot fired a grenade from each gun-cluster just to make sure the enemy was dead. Nothing was left of the enemy but molten steel and a huge crater filled with their remains.

BK-Alpha's cockpit opened up. A rugged blonde man wearing shades, smoking a cigar appeared to be the pilot. He threw-out his nearly finished tobacco product. "Whose the man baby?" He says in a ruff, over-confident voice.

The ground was mostly secure so there wasn't that many target's left. Naomi, not wanting to be left out, turned her Gun Sniper towards the sky. She zoomed out to her max distance of 3 miles. With night-vision activated, she could barely see large air group approaching from the distance. Once again, patients was the key.

The Gairos Empire was one of the largest armies on Planet Zi. But, with the arrival of Republic Air Forces such as Pteras and Raynos Zoids, the Empirial army didn't have enough time or resources to actively produce a large scale air assault upon the Republic. As time progressed, the Empire had time to research more throughly into aeronautics.

The fruits of their research was currently on a course over the Republic city of New Helic.

Flying at an altitude of 14km above sea-level was the last part of the Gairos attack force that would finish off the city. It consisted of an array of craft such as high-speed Storm Sworders, a pteradon-type flying zoid that was the main defense. Large Albatross's, bird-like zoids that acted as a type of heavy bomber carrying thousands of pounds of bombs. In the center of the flying formation was what one would call a giant of the skies. A huge Whale-King, a high-flying troop transport that currently held para-zoids that would eject from the flying fortress and drop down to the ground via parachute.

Though a large flying force, none of them could of detected the outworldly fighter-jet swooping down to follow them from a distance.

Buddy was prep'ed for this fight. Bifors-24 HMMM, MRHM', MRM-120 Jack-Hammers and SHRM-9 Sidearms were fully loaded. The XS-15 gatling rifle was armed with 2 extra clips in the shield section. Active-stealth was functioning along with the on-board pin-point barrier. All systems were nominal.

He turned on laser induction, sending a direct connection to CDF HQ. "Ruri. Enemy ETA to the city."

The customary viz screen popped up next to Bud. "ETA is 30 minutes."

"Status?"

"Only a few enemy zoids left. Most have been destroyed while most have surrendered. We are recieving heavy fire from the Industrial and residental sectors." Ruri finished.

"Copy that Ruri. Casualties?"

"5 dead. 20 or more seriously injured."

Buddy sighed. In his share of battles, he knew the dangers and some of the outcomes. Sometimes, to win you have to have some losses. "Keep me posted, Ruri. Alpha-One out." The viz disappeared. Buddy flipped down his visor, steeling himself for the battle ahead. "May the Goddess shine upon me tonight..." He jammed the throttle and rocketed forward.

"It's quiet. Too quiet." Gunner B said to Gunner A.

Gunner A smacked Gunner B. "No shit moron. Damn gO0k. We're miles above the ground and bein' escorted by alot of these damn aircraft. What do you expect, a flying Rex comming at us?"

"Why do I always have to get stuck with you, damn niggah?!"

If you didn't know, these were Guard A and B from the beginning of the story.

"Shut up and watch your scope fukin' Kim Chi!" A smacked B again. "I swear you fuckin' FoB's are annoying." he mumbled.

"Ooohhhh MY GOD!!" A shouted. "I see a enemy! Fire in the Hole!"

B smacked A a third time. "Stop thinking this a damn game ya stupid ass gOoK!"

"Shuuuttaaaa fuk up NigGaH!!" A growled in his heavy accent. "You no speaki'd to meah dat weay!"

"Fuck you fukin' biatch gook!"

"Die Niggah! Fire in the hole!"

They didn't see or noticed the missles heading towards their turrent-pods.

BOOOOMM!!

Two turrents went up in smoke along with the large bomber-like aircraft they were attached to. They slowly started to lose altitude, smoke billowing from the hull sections that took the brunt of the damage.

Alpha-One blasted by the flying formation of Emperial Zoid craft at Mach 5.5, startling the formation completely with it's appearance causing them to break up. Before they knew it, another salvo of missles rained upon two more of the Albatross bombers, taking them out of play.

The remaining ships started firing. Missles shot out and started seeking the YF-19.

"Oh shit! Whoooooo! OHHH YEAH!!" Cutting his engines and pulling up, Bud made a nearly impossiable 180 degree mid-air turn, allowing the heat-seaking missles the enemy fired to pass him up. Igniting his jets, he blasted forward, twisting and banking to dodge gun-fire and a type of flak he never encountered before.

A squard of 6 Storm Sworders worked their way onto Alpha-One's tail, directly on his Six. Laser blast erupted from their wing-mounted lasers, cutting through the air like a hot knife thru butter. Though accurate and powerful the lasers may be, they couldn't match up to the maneuvering and excellent piloting skills of their target.

Alpha-One bobbed, weaved, and twisted and turned, hastily dodging the enemies deadly shots. Bud knew what HIS jet could take alot of damage, but he wasn't one to risk his own life to see of his mecha could take those shots.

With a flick of his wrist and a subconsious signal, his plane started it's transformation.

Alpha-One morphed into Gerwalk-mode, a bird-like configuration that was a plane with arms and legs. This heavily confused a vast majority of the Gairos pilots along with those that were monitoring the battle.

Bud took advantage of the sudden confusion. YF-19 strafed along the air like it was skating on ice, circling the 6 fliers. XS-15 gatling rifle in one hand, he turned the storm sworders into metallic swiss-cheese. "Damn it! Their getting to close!" He turned into fighter-mode and followed.

A targeting window popped up next to Bud's head showing the enemies in front of him. While his hands automatically adjusted his plane to dodge enemy fire, his subconsious-link to his systems thru the helmet he wore enabled him to move the targeting-reticle across the screen, locking onto almost half of the enemy fliers. He scrolled the screen again to lock-on to more units and re-lock onto others.

'Multiple targets. 30 seconds until complete lock.' Damn, Bud thought. Too many enemies. "Woah!"

YF-19 climbed and banked into a barrel-roll, nearly avoiding enemy missles.

"Die fucker!" Bud vectored onto one of the enemy Storm Sworders. He swooped down laying out heavy fire. The enemy zoid took all the hits before exploding.

'20 seconds.'

Ruri's vid screen appeared next to him. "20 enemy zoids on your six."

"WHA?!" He checked his radar. "FUCKERS!!" He increased his speed.

10 seconds.

Warnings flashed telling Bud he was locked onto.

6 seconds.

"Shit shit shit!!"

5 seconds.

'MISSLE WARNING! MISSLE WARNING!' "AAAAAHHHHH----!!!"

3 seconds.

"MOKO TAKABISHA!!!" A huge blue energy beam pierced the night sky, obliterating the enemy fliers and missles.

2 seconds.

Weltall flew next to Alpha-One, taking up a wing-man position. "BUD!! Go for it!!"

1....

"AAAAHHHHH!!!!! FIRE!!!" Bud pickled his hat-switch and pressed the trigger.

Bays blasted open along the YF-19's body. Salvo after salvo of missles erupted from their bays and hard-points streaking towards their targets at incrediable speeds.

HMMMs (High-Maneuverability Mini-Missles) and SRHMs (Short-Range High Maneuverability) missles quickly homed onto the rear units. The slow maneuvering Albatross zoids were easy pickings, their hulls opening up from initial missle strikes before more entered their insides and ignited their bombs. Chain reactions followed, completely destorying the enemy bombers.

Gairos Storm Sworders scattered all over the place trying to lose the missles on their tails. Unlucky for them that the MRHM's (Medium Range High-Maneuvere) missles were able to follow and nearly keep up with fighters like Bud's. Without much effort, the MRHMM's quickly dispatched their targets into falling pieces of burning scrap.

MRM-120 Jack-Hammers's did not have much maneuverability, but with that they made up in speed, range and their multi-munition warheads. Without much warning, forward bombers and many fighter-zoids quickly met their demise from direct impacts or mini-missle sub-munitions. Explosions littered the night, bringing a light of death to the dark sky.

"........" Bud's breathing was highly erratic. But he was able to switch from fighter to Gerwalk mode to hover in the air.

Weltall hovered next to the variable fighter, seeming to stand in mid-air. "Ya ok there pal?" Ranma asked over the comm.

"........"

Ranma was a bit worried. "Bud-man? You ok?" He was gonna check up on his comrade until he finally got a reply.

".......phew! Damn..." Bud finally calmed down from his adrenaline high. She slowly started moving his plane forward with Weltall following. "Thanks dude. I owe you one." He said. "Imagine?"

"Consider us even, ya jerk."

Bud checked his systems. All green. Radar came up still showing multiple boogies. "We still got more to go."

"I guess we gotta finish them off. Let's hurry. You handle that large ship, I'll take the stragglers." Weltall blasted ahead.

"Copy that, Weltall. Move out!" Alpha-One shot forward at Mach 3 to catch up.

There they were. Though now little in number that previously, the Gairos aerial ships were still a threat to the Republic city. A reticle moved over one of the ships and followed it as it approached overhead. It moved slightly forward ahead of the target.

Just perfect.

Within the span of a few seconds, a Storm Sworder's cockpit exploded sending the ship spiralling down to it's demise.

Naomi marked another point for it on the pad.

The final point....

High above ground sky, shrouded by darkness within the lower stratosphere skylines sat the YF-19 known also by it's codename "Alpha-One." Halting it's supersonic flight with a quick convertion to Gerwalk mode, it completed it's initial transformation into it's Soldier-mode.

Soldier mode was the most impressive configuration the YF-19 could undergo. A roughly 50ft tall humanoid mecha designed to combat renegade Zentradi forces and/or Mardauk mecha. Unlike it's original variant, Bud's variant was redesigned to support more weapon platforms without losing the defense of it's luna titanium alloy and incredible speed. Maneuvers in Soldier mode are more human-like, as if the fighter was truly alive. But, the main difference that stands out on Bud's variant was the twin booms that shot straight up into the air behind it's back like a pair of fast packs. Buster Rifles was their designation, but Bud always refered to them was the Main Gun, a tribute to the late battle-fortress "Macross" otherwise know was the Super Demensional Fortress 'SDF-1'.

Anyway...

Both barrels of the Main Gun rose higher above the shoulders of Alpha-One before lowering down until they were angled to the mech at 90 degrees while still remaining parallel with each other.

"Transfering power from fusion reactors." Bud went through his pre-fire check-list. It only last exactly 10 seconds but it was a precausion that he placed on himself so he wouldn't over-load his mecha. The last time he fired the beam weapons almost cost him his life. "Sync'ing power-couplings. Setting power-output to maximum. Charging."

At the very tips of the barrels, tiny spheres of energy began to form, growing by the second as power was feed into the weapons.

"Locking-on."

His thumb added pressure to a hat-switch on his console.

A sign of death was what most thought of the red/yellow fiery beam that pierced the sky, followed by the explosion and irradication of the Whale-King. Surviving Emperial soldiers and Zoids began their retreat while taking out what they can. Luckily their commander was with them and survived his assualt upon the industrial section.

"All units fall back now! Industrial area is destroyed! Fall back now thru the valley!" Schwarz shouted out to him men. Artillery shells rained down upon them from the mountains, but they were successful in avoiding direct hits from the high-explosive rounds. "Ha! Can't catch us now you Republic scum! HA HA HA HA!!"

Warning sounds went off on his console. "What?! Missles?!"

Salvo after salvo of high-speed rockets blasted out of the back mounted launcher. Smoke billowed from the tail-ends while they cork-screwed towards their targets. The dart-like warheads impacted on some of the retreated Emperial zoids, turning them into scrape metal.

"Mission accomplished." Shiro said to himself, before turning Red-Zero back towards base.

Few hours later...

The battle was over and the city was now safe. The Emperial forces were defeated with a large majority of them either captured or most-likely dead. But with war, there also comes the destruction. As civilian residence slowly exited from the mountain shelters, they took in the fires and insane destruction of what has became their lovely city. Building varied from being lightly scar to total obliterated. Fires ran rampent throughout the heavy fightning areas.

War was never truly a sight to behold.

The main section of city that took the most critical damage was the industrial section that housed zoid manufacturing companies and fabrication plants. With those down, the recovery time for the Republics capital would be a slow one.

At the CDF base, huge crowds were gathered in sections of the vase yard area. In on section, the wounded were gathered and tended to by Republic and CDF medics. In another section, enemy POW's were being held with Wolf Team watching over them.

Montel was directing the remaining civil workers, giving out orders for fire-fightning and recovery times to put out the numerous fires in the city area. Red anti-fire tanks race from the base out into the city proper.

A Republic soldier ran up to Montel just as he finished sending out the last fire unit. "Wassup?"

The soldier saluted. "Sir! I'm here to inform you that the Republic forces are returning to the city now and that Mt. Osa base has been destroyed."

"Uhh... why ya tellin' me this?" Montel pull out his "pik" and starts using it on his 'Fro.

The soldier sweats. "......."

YF-19 successfully lands on the shoreline area of the city near the sea-port. With loud whine that slowly fades into nothing, the variable fighter shuts down while in gerwalk mode. Following Bud's plane is Ranma landing in his Gear.

"That was some fight, ne Ranma?" Bud asked his companion.

Ranma popped up in a vid window. "I guess." A ground vibration caught his attention. Weltall's head turned to the right, noticing the red Gun Sniper coming from the mountain section. "Here comes Naomi."

"I know." Bud see's a movement out of his cock-pit. "Huh?"

"AAAAAAH!!!" Weltall suddenly drops, sparks flying from it's chassis. Ranko's voice screams over the comm. net. "Sunavabitch!! Get that fucker!"

"Need some help boys?" Naomi called.

"No, just stay back! I got this one." Buddy replied while powering up Alpha-One and transforming into Soldier mode.

Then it came out of the shadows.

It was a medium-sized. Sleak black model that gave it a type of stealth in the pitch black of night, even under the moons luminesces. It was a fox-type model built for speed and stealth while large enough to take punishment and survive. A 5 barrel laser gatling gun sat upon a turrent on the back of the machine, pointing at Alpha-One. A Zoid worthy of it's namesake.

Bud stared at the black fox-type as it roared at him.

It's name rolled off his tongue.

"Shadow Fox."

End Chapter 5.

Authors Notes:
I know. That is not how the battle at the Republic went down. So? It's my story and I'll do it how I please so that I do not break more than 50 copy-rights. Imagine? Plus, I forgot how the battle went so fuck you. Damn it.
