Author Note: When I said that I could be stopping the recaps, I ment the 'In the Last Episode...' crap that I usually did. It was kinda messing up the way I measure how long of a story that I wrote and with my personnal word count. So if you actually liked it, which I hope you didn't, I'm not doing that anymore.
On a second note, why don't some of yall leave a review. On fanfiction.net, you can leave a review by selecting that option at the bottom of the page in the drop-down menu. For those of you that want to use email, my address is located at the bottom of the chapter. Thank you, buh-bye.

Chapter 12: Operation Odessa
"Alright everyone. Mail call!"
It was a month later since the Battle of Manaus City and the nuclear explosion incident that shifted the tide of the war. News reached United Earth Goverment headquarters that the OZ Organization had thermonuclear weapons and the possibility of having even more, officials decided that they should take more initiative in this war. Since then Kojima's battalion forced back OZ military forces in South America with the help of 24 hour strategic air bombardments from CX-88 IC (Intercontinental) bombers from Base Gulana airfield, a base that was captured by the 08th MS team. In another month South America will be fully controlled by the UEF.
Speaking of the 08th MS team. After arriving on shore in Freeport, TX, USA, the team of Shiro Yamada, Kycilia Zabi, Aina Sahalin, Karen Joshua, Eledore Massis, Scott Bernard and Montel Wysinger along with their mecha were immediately off-loaded and transported by convoy to Roswell, New Mexico. After their arrival at Area 51 and a thorough debriefing, they mostly sat around in boredom for the next month while their mobile suits went through refit and upgrades. Occassionally they would train in simulators at the suggestion by 2Lt. Zabi or actually help out in the refit proccess, much to many of the scientist and engineers relief.
Now they were all assembled in a recreation room as Shiro brought in mail given to him by a quartermaster for him to hand out.
"Eh, lets see..." he flipped through the first two letters. "Scott."
"Karen." He handed her five envelopes.
"Kycilia." three letters exchanged hands. He noticed one had a family seal he thought was familiar.
Shiro held out a stack of letters he could barely hold in one hand. "Eledore. Jeez man, you got a fan-club of something?"
"You should say that." the blonde replied sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head.
He handed four to Aina. "Aina."
"These are mine, a large package for the unit and this one is for Montel. Looks important."
Huh? Montel looked over at Shiro as if he was crazy. 'I don't know anyone that would send me a letter, probably Buddy or Ranma but they don't know I'm here.' He stood and accepted the docket before checking it out. Shiro was correct in one thing, it was important. It was a letter from the UEF.
"Scott. Catch." Shiro tosses him a small box. "Congradulations."
"Hey! I got promoted!" Scott cheered. "After three years of being a damn private and decorated tank commander, it took being thrown into an MS for me to get enough points to go up a notch in the pay."
"And the fact that you got thrown in the brigg so many times before then dropped you so low on the promotion list that most of your fellow training graduates made lieutenant before you." Zabi noted sarcastically. "I read your file twenty times and I still can't believe you got nearly court-marshalled for having a sexual affair with your ex-commanders wife."
"True, but she kept getting me so drunk that I couldn't help myself." he tried to defend himself but ended up looking like an idiot instead.
"Aina and Karen." They caught the boxes.
"Wow jeez. Purple heart." Karen dead-panned. She didn't ever want to get one of these but took it anyway. It always added to your promotion review.
"Not again." Aina whined.
"Another for Aina. As of yesterday, you're official transfered from UEF Navy to UEF Army. Congradulations 2nd Lieutenant."
"Oh my!"
"This is for everyone else." He handed them two small boxes accompanied by a patch. Kycilia only got one box.
"With the exception of Zabi, one of those boxes contains a basic parachutist badge with a single star for that drop we did in South America. The other is for our unit status as the patch describes. The 08th MS Team will be inducted officially into UEF special forces as of yesterday. Don't forget to ask the quartermaster to get that patch sewed onto your BDU's by tomorrow. That is all for that."
There was a moment of silence as everyone took in this information. Shiro looked at Montel and saw the open letter.
"So what's it say?" he asked.
"Well--" It was at the time that the inter-comm, or bitch-box as soldiers called it, decided to make an announcement.
THE FOLLOWING SOLDIERS ARE ORDERED TO REPORT TO CONFERENCE ROOM 34 YELLOW:
1st LIEUTENANT YAMADA, SHIRO.
2nd LIEUTENANT ZABI, KYCILIA.
2nd LIEUTENANT SAHALIN, AINA.
MASTER SERGENT JOSHUA, KAREN.
CORPORAL MASSIS, ELEDORE.
CORPORAL BERNARD, SCOTT.
PRIVATE WYSINGER, MONTEL.
PLEASE REPORT TO 34 YELLOW CONFERENCE ROOM.
"I guess I'll tell you later." Montel finished.
Kycilia sighed and stood, "That's our call. We should hurry up."
"They didn't give us a time frame so everyone head to your quarters and change into your uniforms. We might be dealing with some of the brass." Shiro said.
"Aye, sir."
Somewhere in Central Europe...
"So we are losing the front-line in South America, eh?"
A soldier nodded, handing Zechs Merquise the rest of the report. "This is all the information that we recieved before communications were jammed."
The masked OZ commander looked over the files then waved the soldier off. With him gone, he turned to his left and looked at his second in command handing her the paper work. "What do you think, Noin?"
"It was not surprising considering we lost the Quarterback. That, and the fact that OZ division commanders in that sector are a bunch of idiots." She handed the docket to him. "So, I was wondering when you're going to retake your homeland?"
Zechs kept quiet after that. He would wait another week before he re-captures the Sanq Kingdom and returns it to it's former glory. But he would wait and see if an old war partner of his would help him out.
Area 51; Roswell, New Mexico, USA
Conference Room 34 Yellow
Montel grumbled as he made his way towards the yellow sector. He continued to adjust his collar, not wanting to have it choke or chaff him in anyway. He wondered what this was all about and if the letter he got was true. That he would--
"Hey Montel! Wait up."
"Oh, hey Scott. Yo' ass late too?"
The young Apache native of Arizona looked a bit sheepish. "Always hated this thing." He pointed at his collar flaps and shoulder ribbons. "Check it out."
'His E-4 insignias.' Montel nodded to him and patted him on the back. "Ya deserve it dawg. Three years huh?"
"Yeah. For a tip, don't do stupid shit like I did. I almost got court-marshalled 5 times for shit I could of just walked away from. Put a huge hole in my promotion points."
They both arrived at the conference room. The door was closed so Scott decided to announce themselves.
"CPL. Scott Bernard and Pvt. Montel Wysinger reported as order." No response. "Umm.. Sir?"
The door slid open revealing the essembled. Both went wided eyed at seeing the President and the joint chief of staff of the UEF present for this conference along with the top dogs of all major branches of the US military.
"This way gentlement." A young service woman escorted the two and asked them to line up by rank along with the rest of their teammates. Then the room became silent.
"Now that everyone is assembled, we can begin this ceremony. Would everyone please stand." stated the General of the Army, denoted by the 5 stars on his shoulders and the United States Army General emblem on his collar flaps. All that were seated rose, including the US President. The General, along with the Secretary of War and the President walked towards a mobile tray that was stacked with small silver boxes.
"As of Executive order No. 9075, the following unit is awarded the Presidental Unit Citation for gallantry, determination, and esprit de corps in accomplishing its mission under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions as to set it apart and above other units participating in the battles of the Gulana Highland Plateau and the Battle of Manaus City."
The service woman began. "Would the following step forward to recieve your award: 1st Lt. Shiro Yamada. 2nd Lt. Kycilia Zabi. 2nd Lt. Aina Sahalin. MSgt. Karen Joshua. Cpl. Eledore Massis. Cpl. Scott Bernard. And finally, Pvt. Montel Wysinger."
Each soldier, at turn, approached the three men. They would allow the President to pin a ultramarine blue, golden framed ribbon on their left breast of their jacket. Once that was done, they would set back and salute then reach forward and shake the persons hand before returning to the line.
In a sudden switch, the Admiral of the US Navy switched with the General of the Army, taking his place to the Presidents left. Then he began to speak.
"After Colony 195, June 8th. During the OZ organization Coup de'atat, the Aegis-class nuclear cruiser CGN-157 USS Quarterback was reported stolen from it's home port of Norfolk, VA and designated as Priority One hazard to the United Earth Federation. By order of the Chief of Staff of the United States Navy and United Earth Federation council, the following persons are here-by awarded an honorary Navy Cross for their gallanry in engaged in an armed conflict with an enemy of the United Earth Federation in the presence of great danger and personal risk."
The service woman began to read off the names. "Would the following please step forward to recieve your award."
"2nd Lt. Kycilia Zabi."
Kycilia broke rank and stepped forward to recieve her award. Montel noticed that she was in dress uniform, but also wearing her mask and helmet during this time. She stopped 3 feet from the Naval Admiral and gave him a crisp salute that was returned in kind. He held out a dull modified bronze cross patee (1-1/2 inch wide) that hung from a 1-2/3 inch blue ribbon with narrow white strip going down the center. There were four laurel leaves with barries in each of the re-entrant arms of the cross. in the center of the cross a sailing vessel is depicted on waves sailing to the viewers left. The Admiral pinned the award to Kycilia's left breast pocket flap under her other ribbon awards known as 'chicken guts'. They then shook hands and saluted.
"Before you return, Lieutenant." The General of the Army returned to the floor. "But this is something that cannot wait until later." He nodded to her then to the President, Sect. of War and Naval Admiral.
"As General of the Army, I would like the assembled recodnize 2nd Lt. Kycilia Zabi for her outstanding service of 12 years in the United States Army and her involvement in the Joint Special Forces operations in conjunction with the OZ Specials task-force before June 8th, AC 195, US Special Forces operations after June 8th, 195 and military operations to this day. Due to the out-break of war, previous promotions could not be award to certain individuals on time and now a correction in that error could be made.
According to your records you were to be promoted to 1st Lieutenant in June 2nd, AC 190. But due to the over abundance of 1st Lt. during that time and the years to come, your promotion was held back until centralized promotion would be issued or otherwise. Since then you have accumulated over 700 points in just awards that the Promotion board could not look away and delay until the end of this war. Congradulations, Kycilia Zabi. You have been honorably and officially promoted to the rank of Major, effective immediately."
In a few moments, the General and the the service woman went through the process of removing the single gold bars from Kycilia's collar and replaced them with a gold seven point oak leaf that official designated her as a major in the US Army. After a handshake and salute she turned around to return to the line-up.
This made everyone one in the squad become wide-eyed and nearly loose their composure. Nearly 14 rows of ribbons, four across, decorated her left side of her uniform along with another three rows of three decorated her right side above her name tag. Not even Shiro knew that his executive officer was as honored and decorated as a Colonel or General.
"Thank you, General. Admiral. You may return." This was the President speaking. A middle-aged man of possibly asian descent wearing a formal black business suit. "Now for the main attraction. Miss Kyle, if you please."
The service woman nodded and stood at attention with her clipboard in her left hand at her side. "Aye, sir. All hands.. TEN-SHUN!!"
All military personally, standing or sitting, quickly stapped into position at the order. With the acception of the President and Sect. of War, all eyes were on the center table were the President stood.
"It has been over 100 years since the last time this award was given out by another President of the United States. The award I am to present to this next recipient has distinguisted himself or herself conspiciously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her own life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in combat against the enemy of the United States; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing force; or while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United State or UEF is not a belligerent party. The deed this person performed was one of personal bravery and self-sacrifice so conspicious as it clearly distinguished the individual above his or her comrades and involved the risk of his or her life. Witnesses from the individuals executive officer along with reports from allied forces confirmed these actions this person has committed for the survival of his or her fellow teammates by placing their own life at stake."
The Secretary of War opened a case and handed the President a blue ribbon that could be worn around the neck. It was knotted in the middle with a total of 13 white stars within the knot. Hanging from the ribbon was a gold medal; a gold five pointed star, each point tipped with trefoils, 1-1/2 inches wide, surrounded by a green laurel wreath and suspended from a gold bar inscribed "VALOR", surmounted by an eagle. In the center of the star, Minerva’s head surrounded by the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." On each ray of the star is a green oak leaf. Everyone in the room, with the exception of the presentors, Montel and Kycilia, stared wide-eyed at the award to be given. No one knew whom would recieve the award except possibly Kycilia but she didn't want to spoil this for the recipient.
"Private Montel Wysinger. Please step forward."
The black man looked at the President and pointed at himself. Earning a nod, he approached the US commander-in-chief stopping a distance of 3 feet from him at attention.
"In the name of Congress and the United Earth Federation joint chief of staff, I am proud to present this young man with the most distinguisted award given to a member of the armed forces."
"The Medal of Honor."
Montel bowed his head as the President placed the medal around his head and adjusted it to fit around his uniform collar. The President shook Montel's hand before he stood back. The President congradulated him before he returned the salute the young black man gave him.
As the President returned to his seat, the service woman stepped up to the center and finished saying, "This ended today's award ceremony. All hands are dismissed."
2200 Hours, Green Section Training Room...
"Man, Montel! I still can't believe you got it."
It was night time at Area 51's housing section and the base was mostly deserted with the exception of the heavy security on the surface and the nerds in the laboratories. In a fit of engineering ingenuity, the lights would follow the standard time for this part of the country and would either brighten during the day time or dim to act like street lamps at night.
It was around this time of night that Montel and Scott exited the showers after a few relaxing round in the simulators.
"By the way." Scott looked over to the black man toweling his hair. "How did ya learn to pilot like that? I know you're some sort of prodigy MS pilot; but still. Who taught ya?"
Montel shrugged. "Just came natural." He tosses his towel into a nearby laundry chute. "I dunno. 'Cause I sure would like ta know, ya know what'da I'm saying? I would guess it was after those bitches at the trainin' grounds in Nevada told me 'bout the controls that I got it."
"Man, talk about quick learning." The young native american stopped at his door. "This is my stop. See ya tomorrow man."
"Later."
So he continued down the hall of rooms toward his own. He let out a yawn signalling his state of being. Today was a hectic and surprising day for him, topped off with that relaxing bath/shower he just had, his body was begging for him to lay down on his nice relaxing bed. But that wouldn't happen in this day in age; as he neared his quarters he passed by the closed door of the physical training room, or PT room, and heard multiple muffled sounds of someone or something destroying the room. He couldn't have that happening around here.
Decided to investigate on his own, he approached the door and leaned his ear against it. He heard the faint sound of a girl crying before a scream followed by something bing thrown against the wall. "Aww shit." he cursed, looking around to see if anyone else could help him. Unfortunately, everyone was probably asleep.
"Doors locked." he noticed. Luckily it was an old wooden design. Stepping back a couple feet, he charged and kicked the door open with his shoed foot and charged in. "What the fuck is going---?! Major?"
The only other person in the gym was Major Zabi and she looked worse for wear. Broken training dummies, shattered glass, busted punching bags with their contents spilling out and even the vending machine littered the acrobics section of the large gym. But Kycillia was what really surprised Montel.
'That bitch is HOT!' his mind screamed. And it was right on the mark. She was in her usual special forces all-environment suit but without her helmet and face covering. She had short, crimson hair that fell down to her jaw-line. Her face looked soft and creamy, with a small nose and a pair of small, pink lips that looked perfect on her. It would of been hard to compare her with anyone that wasn't born from the Gods themselves. But... she reminded him of a red-head Faye Valentine.
"What the fuck happened here?" the black man asked.
Kycilia gave him a snarl and glare that made him take a couple steps back. "Shut up Wysinger and leave me alone. It's none of your business!"
"Bitch!" Montel puffed his chest and walked until he was 10 feet from her. "I'm need to use this place in the morning ya idiot. If yo' bitch ass is gonna tear this piece up cuz' yo ass is on the rag, den' you betta tell me what's up!" He looked her up and down. "Bitch."
They glared at each other for a while.
And glared.
And glared.
And then she spoke. "You seem like you know alot of what's been happening." she began, moving to sit on a weight bench. "I assume you remember that one of my former commanders is the Lightning Baron, Zechs Merquise, am I correct?"
"I know who he is. He's good."
She threw down one of the letters she's recieved earlier this day. "That low-life son of a bitch and his little side-kick Lucrecia Noin sent me a letter asking me to return to the ranks of the Specials. He wants all the help he can get to 're-capture' that Sanq Kingdom of his. He's only out for revenge for what the World Federation did back when he was a child of his homeland."
"Ain't the Sanq Kingdom that peace country or some shit?"
"Yes. The Sanq Kingdom, when it was still standing as an icon of the world, were stunt-pacifist. They felt that war was meaningless and only brung misery to everyone. They felt that fighting did not solve anything and that talks of peace would solve problems. They were half right on both subjects. War is meaningless, but it is mostly during war-time that technology take major leaps in advancement. And sometimes, talking would solve problems," she gumbled. "but not all the time."
"Zechs is from the Sanq Kingdom? I heard everyone was killed." he tried to feint ignorance.
She shook her head. "Zechs Merquise is also known as Milliard Peacecraft, heir to the throne of Peacecraft. But with the blood on his hands, he has no true pull if he eventually restores the Kingdom."
"Were there any survivors besides him?"
"Yes, and no." She leaned back against the battered wall. "I wasn't in the military at that time, but my father was commander of one of the infantry platoons that raided the castle. He found a group of servents trying to escape and stopped them. They had a little baby girl with them that he recodnized as the King's daughter, Relena. He let them go as long as them kept in touch with him." She sighed. "Mother hasn't herd from her for a year or so."
'This is new,' Montel mentally noted. His 2nd boss knew Zechs, Noin, and that girl Relena personally, or something like that. He picked up her letter and gazed at it for a moment before looking at her. "So what are you going to do?"
She growled and smashed her right fist into a nearby 45lbs. olympic weight plate. The iron plate broke into several pieces and her hand looked perfectly fine. He had to admire her strength. It reminded him of Buddy when he was REALLY pissed off.
"Zechs knows I won't go with him. He knows damn well that I love my country and would die for it before joining OZ. But the fact that he still tried pisses me off more than you can imagine."
Montel looked around the nearly destroyed room. "Oh, I can imagine alright." he deadpanned.
"Listen," he stood and began to leave. "Get some sleep and think 'bout this shit and tell me in the morning. I'm sleepy, so keep down all the racket and shit."
The red-head watched him leave, frowning at his turned back before looking at what she caused. 'All this over that man...'
She pulled a picture from a pocket and gazed at it for a while. It brought back fond memories of good times, struggle and pain. It also brought back the feelings of love she had for a certain man and the dire hate she felt for him at this moment. She pulled out the other letter and read the letter of address from the United States Army.
'We are sorry to inform you that your husband was killed in action on June 24th, AC 195 during an attempted raid on an OZ facility in Central Africa's east coast--'
That brought her back to the other letter from Zechs. He mentioned that he heard that her husband died. It was a cover-up of a confession that he killed her husband in a duel of honor. Her husband was Japanese and was built upon the old Japanese honor system of Bushido. It was a code that both him and herself followed daily, though she was a little lax on following those codes, it is what kept her alive.
'You're mine, Zechs Merquise.' she promised herself. She dropped the letter and picture before leaving the ruined PT room. 'I'll find you soon enough. The war has only begun.'
As she left the room, the picture settled down upon the floor where it was in perfect position to be reflected off of the lower part of the mirror wall.
It was an old picture of Zechs Merquise, Lucrecia Noin and Kycilia and her husband. All four were in cadet uniforms of the United States Army. The man next to Kycilia was well built, though a little shorter than her, but only by a couple inches. He had piercing blue eyes that could look into ones soul if needed and had a mop of black hair that was kept in a pig-tail at the base of his neck. Upon closer inspection, the name tag on the uniform read 'Saotome.'
Above the letter that was dropped was another slip of paper. It was a certificate that proclaimed someone officially dead. It read:
'Ranma Saotome Zabi. Proclaimed dead on June 24th AC 195 in Nairobi, Kenya, Africa. Killed in Action.'
Red Sector Briefing Room, Area 51
The next day...
"So did ya figure out what you gonna do?" Montel asked his XO as she took a seat in front of him.
Kycilia turned to glare at him. She had on her face mask and helmet on. "I'm a soldier of this country, born and raised. I would rather kill myself before rejoining that bastard."
"Damn boss! Don't have to be all PMS'y and shit."
"All right! Listen up people."
A largish man in uniform stood on a small stage in front of the assembled soldiers. This included the 08th MS team and another mobile suit special forces unit that was similiarly equiped that arrived a week ago. From what Montel could figure out about the other squad, the 13th MS team from a division in the North Ontario quadrant, were just as eager as them to get some action. That's why both teams were assembled in the formerly restricted Red Sector of the underground base awaiting for the briefing to commence.
"Before I get to the briefing, I would like to introduce Captain Jack Baker and his 13th MS team from Toronto Base."
"Hey." the man waved.
The 08th just ignored him, much to the mans annoyance.
"Heh. Don't mind them, Capt. They've been through alot." The Colonel, from designation of the silver eaglers on his collars, said to the 13th. "Let us get started then."
"We estimate that by the beginning of September that South American will be under United Earth Federation control and soon the northern quadrants. But until then, it's going to be a long war." He coughed a bit before checking his papers.
"The higher ups have decided that our strategy of total defense would soon wear out our resources and turn this war into a war of atrition that OZ would surely win. The UEF is holding and pushing back two frontlines but our losses are rising everyday as we speak and if they choose to switch to claim air superiority, we would surely lose. Luckily, 85 percent of air-craft and Aries mobile suits are constructed here in the United States so that gives us the advantage in mass-production of the elements they need. But that doesn't discontinue this factor as a threat. They have Side-6 Lunar base and it's Mobile Suit assembly line along with the proto-type Taurus space/air units and a spaceship building port at the Sea of Tranquility."
"What about the Gundams, Sir?" Shiro asked.
"Unofficially, I want to shove a beam rifle up each one of the pilots asses. But officially, they are tertiary or targets of opportinuty until ordered otherwise."
"As for why you all are assembled; Both teams, 08th and 13th, have shown a far superior use of strategy, weapons usage, and survivability behind enemy lines. Those particular traits is the reason why you all have been inducted into the special forces. And it is that reason as to why I am handing you these assignments to your commanders." He passes 1Lt. Yamada and Cpt. Baker a thick manilla folder. "I'll make this as simple as possible for everyone."
The room darkened and a holo-graphic image of the globe appeared above the Colonel's head. There were several dots decorating the continents with the exception of the Americas.
"By order the Pentagon, the UEF allied forces will begin a world wide assault on December 24th, AC 195 at 2330 hour Pacific time on Christmas Eve in an attempt to decimate the ranks of OZ and the secretive Longfeller foundation that holds the leash on the OZ organization. Intel has recently discovered this information and relayed it to the brass a few days ago. Trust me, we were equally surprised.
In other parts of the US, four other special forces units are recieving this information in preperation for a similiar operation that you people will be conducting before Christmas. The 08th and 13th, along with the SEALs, Delta Force, VF-214 Jolly Rogers and 20th MS team will be conducting raids deep withing enemy lines in order to temporarily or permanently hault their production of weapons, ordinance and mechanized production until christmas eve, in which Operation Merry Christmas would be underway.
The 08th along with the Jolly Rogers and their fighter compliment of 40 plus aircraft will be conducted raids in Japan, the costal cities along eastern Asia, the majority of the pacific rim and deep within the jungles of India and the eastern Arab nations. Your commander has your orders and it is at your discretion to which target you may hit, unless ordered otherwise. The Jolly Rogers are there to provide air superiority and long-range air support if needed. In your orders you will find that the VF-214 will also conduct their own raid operations, so their availibility will have to be dicussed with their CO, or their ships CAG. Some of your targets are majorly munitions factories, mecha production facilities and shipping ports."
The Colonel went on about the briefing and what to expect. He also made it clear that failure is not an option and that the UEF depended on us to complete our missions. Shiro looked back at his team and nodded to them. From his point of view, they all looked ready to go into action and do what they do best. He glanced at Capt. Bakers team and frowned. They looked like they didn't want to be here. It was people like them that made the military look bad, sometimes.
"And that is all for this briefing. With the exception of the commanders and executive officers, everyone is dismissed."
Green Sector, Recreation Room
"Man! I can't wait to get back out on the field." Eledore exclaimed as he plopped down onto an empty couch in front of the big screen television. "Being in here is nice, but it's boring. I'd rather be out there getting shot at instead of a grease monkey anyday."
Aina followed and sat next to him followed by Scott, whom propped his feet on a coffee table.
"I know how ya feel man. All this waiting sucks. About time that gave us an assignment." said the young Apache.
Aina frowned. "You don't have to sound so enthusiastic about going out to war."
"Better than looking like a bunch of chicken shits, like that other team."
"They probably haven't been through what we have, Wysinger." said Karen as she followed him in and sat next to Eledore. "We have been throught alot in just one month."
"Bah." Eledore placed his arm around the buxom red-headed sergent and turned on the TV.
..in todays news, space ports in Singapore, Sydney and Moscow seem to have become under attack by the military element known as Gundams. We have a live feed from Johnny, our correspondent in Singapore that is covering this story.
We have reason to believe that these rebel elements that murdered Super Commander Marshall Noventa back in June are here to hi-jack transport shuttles and retreat back to the colonies. The goverments do not know which colonies these traitors belong to, but OZ and Longfeller have been investigating for the past few weeks. There is also reason to believe that the Gundam designated as Gundam-04 is piloted by the sole-male heir of the Weiner family of the Arab Nations and of L4 Colony Side-4. But rumors are stetchy and--- Holy shit!!
Johnny?! Johnny?! We have lost our live feed from singapore, please stand by--..
PSSSSSSHHHHTT!!
..undam 04 has just exploded taking out multiple OZ mechanized elements allowing Gundam 02 and 05 to escape in a pair of space transport vehicles. OZ officials assume that the Gundams are heading to the colonies for possible sanctuary--..
Click.
"Pansy ass bitches." Montel grumbled after shutting off the TV, much to the complaint of Eledore and Aina. They couldn't tell why he was suddenly upset, but decided to let it go. Not one of them had any love for those Gundam pilots, just like the majority of the world.
Naval Air Station North Island and Amphibious Base Coronado
San Diego, California; One Week Later...
CVS-103 USS Nimitz, a Prometheus-class thermo-nuclear powered multi-purpose aircraft carrier sat 2 miles off the coast of San Diego, California in the restricted waters of Coronado Naval facilities. This was the home of the US/UEF Pacific fleet. This was the home of the first fully functional aircraft carrier.
This was the home of the flag ship Nimitz and it's main fighter wing; VF-214 Jolly Rogers, the Fighting 214.
The design of the aircraft carrier did not change that much from the designs of the 21st century with the exception of total length, an added 400 to 500 feet of deck and hull, and propulsion which was drastically changed from four nuclear steam turbines to a pair of twin thermo-nuclear fusion turbines increasing the previous speed of 32 knots to a whopping 55, over 60 mph. Not only did the designs of these modern cities at sea remained the same, the workings of the deck crews remained similiar to those back in the day. Why would they throw away a working system for something else?
The crewmen and women on the deck moved in controlled chaos, a ballet that was done over and over since the first aircraft carriers that sailed the seven seas. From a side elevator, a pair of top of the line fighters were elevated to the deck level while being augumented with a standard warload of missles of various ranges and purposes by red suited G-1 aviation ordinancemen that transport and load weapons to the fighter wing from below decks. The plane captain, a man in brown signalled to the pilot that he's ready to go and dropped the canopy. A crewman in blue backed a small tractor to one of the fighters and began to taxi it out onto the main deck where another crewman in yellow used hand signals to guide the fighter to the catapult after the initial taxi was disengaged and the fighter rolled on it's own propulsion. Once the plane was in position, a crewman in green prepares the fighter for catapult launch, locking the tow-bar on the nose gear of the plane onto to a slot on the catapult shuttle and attached a cat chock to the back of the gear. Once that was done, he threw a signal to the pilot and all was left to the final person. A crewman in yellow held up a hand and a blast deflector rose up behind the fighter. Next came the wind up signal from the cat-chief and the plane powered to full thrust and lurched forward but did not go anywhere due to it's parking brake. Finally, the yellow cat-chief ducked down and shot his hand towards the end of the deck giving the launch signal. The fighter shot forward at incredible speeds going from zero to over 150 miles per hour in two seconds! Once off the deck the fighter soared into the air were it joined up with the rest of it's squadron.
This air wing was known as the Jolly Rogers, VF-214 Fighting 214. Their main fleet intercept and strike fighter, a redesign of the old F-14D Tomcat, now called the JSF-14D Valkyrie. The body of the Valkyrie remained the same as the Tomcat, only the armoring was changed to a combination of titanium alloy and luna titanium alloy. Other changes include top of the line avionics, radar, and warload capabilities. The engines were replaced with a pair of P&W/Roles Royce FF-1500E thermonuclear reactor turbine engines giving it a max speed of mach 3.05 at 10,000 meters fully loaded and advanced thrust vectoring control that gave the fighter a whole new outlook on air warfare. It was faster, more manuverable and more heavily armed than it's feline predecessor.
Also launching from the carrier were a pair strike aircraft assigned to the Jolly Rogers. The JSF-18SE Strike Eagle, another redisign of an old model which was the F/A-18E Super Hornet of the 21st century. Like the JSF-14D's, the Strike Eagles main changes were in it's armor and frame construction, avionics, flight control, warload capabilities and engines. This bird was powered by twin side-by-side P&W/Rolls Royce FF-1800S thermonuclear reactor turbine engines with enough thrust to push the fighter to a speed of mach 4.75 at an altitude of 10,000 meters unloaded. While loaded, it only had a max speed ranging from mach 2.4 to 3.05 depending on the war load. It was a multi-role fighter, unlike the valkyrie which was mainly escort and fleet defense, the JSF-18SE was capabble of missions such as recon, air-to-ground support and precision bombing capabilities. Though the Vaklyrie was capabile of these feats the Strike Eagle specialized in them.
While the Skull Squadron was launching into the air, another situation was happening at one of the landing strips of the Coronado Naval facilities.
A CV-130 HART transport jet, or High-Altitude Re-Entry Transport, touched down on the 2 mile long landing strip before it was taxied to a nearby hangar for loading. Several air crewman were busy on maintainance while US Army crewman began the loading of the cargo jet thru it's forward loading bays. Five advanced mobile suits and a hover truck exited the hangar and were loaded into the HART. Following the mecha were their pilots, the newly assigned Special Forces unit, the 08th MS Team.
"We gotta jump again?" Montel complained. "Us black folk don't mind jumping from high places but thats only when we by runnin' from da police! Hey you aight, Karen?"
"N-nothing." the red-head suttered and he left it at that.
"This is only her second jump, Montel." Eledore added in.
"So?"
"Shut up you two." Kycilia growled. "Everyone board the HART. We're taking off in 10 minutes."
"What about the commander?"
"Already in, now MOVE IT!!"
After all cargo was loaded the HART was taxied to the runway. Five powerful engines pushed the large craft down the tarmac until it finally pitched back and gained altitude. Within the span of three minutes it reached an altitude of 10,000 meters and continued upward until an altitude of 60,000 meters, 60km above the surface of the Earth. All flight personnel and passengers were required to wear oxygen mask and pressurized breathing system, with the air at 60,000 meters close to the aerospace ceiling many would die attempting a high altitude para-jump.
"This is the mission objective." Shiro said with a slight muffle due to his oxygen mask. "We will HART in at coordinates 22N 158W outside of Pearl City, Hawaii in a surprise attack against OZ Air and Naval facilities there."
"Pearl Harbor." Kycilia noted.
"Yes. The Navy placed that as a prime objective for our operaion. In conjuction with the UEF Naval forces and the Jolly Rogers, we will spear head an island hopping operation to regain air and sea superiority here in the Pacific before we begin our operations in the Orient."
"Just like World War II." Scott said sadly.
"But this time we're the ones with the low resources." remarked Aina.
"Moving along. Our main objective is their HQ. Kill the head of the snake as some would put it. This is were our target LZ will be during the initial jump so whomever lands here must meet this objective ASAP. The Navy doesn't care about the buildings as the Nimitz will act as mobile HQ for the fleet." He pointed to another section of map. "Secondary objective is to destory or capture these three facilities."
"What about the Naval involvement?" asked Karen. "What is their targets?"
"The Jolly Rogers will start Operation Wild Weasel before we drop. Initial carried based attacks from their JSF-18SE's will target radar and SAM installations while their JSF-14's will provide air cover. The fleet consist of the USS Nimitz, the super-battleship UEF-Missouri, four destoryers, three frigates, two missle cruisers, a California-class attack sub and a Daedalus-class submersible mobile suit carrier." said Major Zabi.
'I know I heard of that Daedalus thing before.' Montel thought.
"They're not bringing that other Aegis-cruiser, are they?" asked Aina worriedly.
Kycillia shook her head. "No, they are not stupid enough to make that mistake. So just shut up and listen for now."
"Yes, SIR!" Montel saluted jokingly. Scott and Eledore restrained their XO from killing the black man.
"I guess theirs no need for motivation on this mission." Shiro sweated hearing Kycilia let off a series of derogatory terms at his black subordinate. 'This is going to be a long campaign.'
Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, USA
Operation Odessa begins...
Mid-morning in the pacific and not much action going around at this time. OZ organization officers were mostly lazy at this post being that it was smack-dab in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Dispite the fact they where at one of the last remaining places one could call paradise, they were battle laiden soldiers that had nothing else to do but guard a naval facility.
"Got any two's?" asked Soldier-A to Soldier-B.
Soldier-B shook his head. "Go-fish." Soldier-A cursed at his luck before shouting back to another soldier.
"Anything on the radar?"
Soldier-C shouted back. "Nothing at all. Not even blimps from the Aries recon squads. It's probably nothing. They should be back in range pretty soon."
"That's cool. Got any four's?" asked Soldier-B to Soldier-A.
"Shit," grumbled Soldier-A. Then it hit him. "Hey, doesn't the radar go out 1500 clicks (kilometers) off-shore?"
"Yeah, what about it?" asked Soldier-C.
"Ain't the recon unit only suppose to go out to 1000 clicks?" Soldier-B was the quickest to figure this one out.
"Where being jammed! Sound the---"
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!
The AGM-88X HARM missle, or high-speed anti-radiation missle, slammed into the radar station knocking the unit completely offline and out of commission. Jetting past the tower wreckage was a JSF-18SE Strike Eagle with the skull and crossbones painted on it's tail fins. It soon joined up with four other strike eagles and formed a flying cheveron.
"Strike-Lead to group. I'm uploading you guys a set of objectives that need to be eliminate so we can get the mobiles suit in. So break off and try to keep each other covered, understand."
"Two, Roger."
"Three, Roger."
"Four, Roger."
"Five, Roger."
While Strike-Two thru Five turn and backed to the sides, Strike-Lead went inverted and dived towards the ground level before turning back over and pulling up to level out. Seeing an OZ naval destoryer in his sights, he pickled one of his hard-points and armed a pair AGM-65J Maverick Mk-IV missles. He set his laser guidence to guide the missles 3 feet above the water line before unleashing their fury. A huge explosion rocked the ship and he watched as it began to take in water and slowly sink into the bay. Similiar acts happened across the harbor as the Jolly Rogers strike eagle team hit target after target, sinking ships, destorying ammunition dumps, avoiding anti-aircraft fire and destorying their locations. The enemy soon began to launch their Aries mobile suits and deploy Leo and Tragos ground forces. It didn't matter though, their mission was done.
"Strike-Lead, Skull-Leader. Mission complete, but we got bogeys on our tails. Their hot on out tails an----"
Strike-Lead watched one of his wing-mates get mowed down by a salvo of 100mm chain rifle fire.
"Shit! Strike-Four is down - I repeat - Strike-Four is down! Strike-Lead to Skull-Leader. We need assistance now! Strike-Wing, break off and juke these zekes on our tails, we can't lead them to 'mother'."
"Two."
"Three."
"Five."
"Sku ll-Leader to wing. Enemy tallyho at 2 o'clock. Altitude 2,000. Distance 6,500. Lock and load, we may be faster than mobile suits but they have the advantage in weapons manueverability. Break on my signal."
Seven JSF-14's banked to the right and dropped from the clouds. Their wings folded back as their speed increased until past the sound barrier. Up ahead some of the seasoned pilots could identify their teammates initated in a dogfight against Aries-type mobile suits.
"Skull-Leader to Strike-Lead. Break off your engagement and retreat to mother. We'll provide cover fire."
"Roger that Skull-Leader. Get them for Mike."
"Delta-One to Skull-Leader. HART is almost in position for drop. We need those skies cleared."
"Copy that, Delta-One. Skull-2 and Four; break formation and flank the enemy. Everyone else, I'm painting some targets for you."
"Two."
"Three."
"Four!"
"Five."
"Six."
"Seven."
"On my signal.." Skull-Leader waited for the lock on. Almost all the Aries were locked on by a missle. "Now! Skull-Lead, Fox-Three!"
"Skull-3, Fox-Three!"
"Skull-5, Fox-Three!"
"Skull-6, Fox-Three!"
"Skull-7, Fox-Three!"
Ten AIM-120K AMRAAM (Advanced Medium Ranged A2A Missle) missles launched two at a time from the JSF-14's and homed in onto their targets. Like arrows they spiralled in the air at speed over 3000 mph until they reached their targets. Explosions littered the sky but that didn't deter the OZ mobile forces. Many more Aries launched from the base and converged onto the fighters.
"Delta-One, Skull-Leader. We are launched second flight. ETA two minutes."
"Roger that, Delta-One." He twisted out of the way of 100mm rifle fire and growled. "Skull-Leader to wing. Traffic is getting pretty heavy so break formation but try to keep each other covered!"
"Skull-2, switching to side-winders. Moving in."
"Skull-4, Mark seven."
"Skull-2, Mark four-five-zero."
A tone sounds in the fighters cockpit. "Skull-4, got tone! Sweet-lock! Fox-Two!"
"Skull-2, Fox-Two!"
Two pairs of AIM-9X Mk-II missles drop from their hardpoints and rocket towards a group of Aries. At half-way the Aries pilots notice this and try to evade. They jet away but that places them right into the heat-seekers sensors. In moments the Aries are blow out of the sky leaving nothing by falling debri.
"This is HART to Delta-One. Commencing drop proceedure in sector two-niner-niner. Better have that sector clear because they'll be comming in fast!"
High Altitude Re-Entry Transport
60km above Pearl Harbor...
"How high is this again, Major?" Montel asked Kycilia. His RX-79 (G) was the first ready to exit the dropship and he had some trepidation about this manuever.
"It's not that high." Kycilia lied. It was bad that Karen was afraid of para-drops, now she has this moron with second thoughts. "Just deploy your chute at 5000 meters."
"Whatever.." Montel clucked his tongue once before sounding smug. "..bitch." he said slowly.
"I hate you."
"Feelings mutual.... bitch." he finished in the same tone.
"Shut up, both of you!" growled Shiro. "This isn't the time for your childish bantering. Either shape up or ship out. This goes double for you, Wysinger."
"Yes, sir."
"This is the co-pilot speaking. Get ready for jump in five.. four.. three.." A red light came on and blinked. "two.. one! Green light! Go! Go! Go!"
"Jeroni---" Once exiting the ship, Montel he finally realize exactly how HIGH he was from the ground. "Holy shit-- AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"
"Hahaha!" Kycilia laughed as she followed behind him in her Ez-8 MS. Following her was Karen, Shiro, Scott and finally Eledore and Aina in their hover truck.
Kycilia watched Montel's mobile suit flail around like a bird with it's feathers plucked and shook her head. She brought the arms of her MS close to the body and went into a power dive towards the black man. Nearing his proximity she snapped the arms and legs out to stabilize herself using the arms and legs as a form of drag.
"Wysinger. Copy what I am doing. Use your legs and arms to stabilize your mecha or your chute won't deply correctly." she stated. Montel did as instructed and soon his mobile suit stopped twisting and twirling around in the thin air.
"Thanks, boss."
"Looking good there!" Scott shouted as he passed by the two in his assault mobile suit. Being the heavier of the three variants, his speed nearly doubled his approach on the islands. "I see the island comming up. 6500 meters. Opening up!"
Four parachutes jettisoned from the back-attachment of mecha and slowed his decent as much as they could. He was still dropping fast but at a more controlled pace.
"4000... 4500.. 3000..." Shiro counted off as their altitude decreased rapidly even with the parachute assist. "3500.. 2000 meters and closing! Get ready."
"Now!"
1500 meters from the surface, five booster rockets ignited on the packs of the mobile suits. The pilots braced themselves for shock as their decent was greatly decrease suddenly.
"We're close to the surface. Jettison and hit the HQ!" Shiro commanded.
All five acknowledge and jettisoned their mobile suit parachute packs. They fell the short distance and hit the ground on their feet causing a small tremor on the concrete surface.
Shiro picked out the HQ building easily. "That one, open fire!"
"Roger!"
All teammates opened up on the large seven floor building with the OZ insigna on it's top floor. Three RX-79's armed with 100mm chain rifles, a RX-77 armed with 180mm shoulder mounted dober cannons and a RX-79 Ez-8 armed with a 40mm MS Uzi opened up on the building. Whoever or whatever was in their were quickly denounced dead as it was easily turned into swiss cheese.
Scott noticed a group of Leo's heading their way. "Everyone down! Fire in the hole!" A large canister shot from the RX-77's hip and bounced a couple times until it reached the enemy group. Debri flew everywhere after the explosion but more Leo's and heavily armed units moved in on them.
Lt. Yamada gritted his teeth. "Fan out and stay covered. We're more armored than them but don't take any chances."
"Where's Eledore and Aina?!" growled Karen. "Do you guys read me?"
"This is Eledore. We're at the mouth of bay and we have no way of getting onshore to assist. Aina's setting up a remote drone to spy ahead of you guys."
"Roger that, Massis. Radio in when it's deployed." Kycilia said calmly as she blasted a Leo with her head-vulcans.
"No prob, Major. Eledore out."
Montel frowned. He jumped his MS into the bay and sunk down waist deep. "They're kinda thinning out. Shit!" he cried after blocking a near hit with his shield.
Scott jettisoned a grenade from his hip and caught it. He tossed it to Karen whom immediately threw it around a corner. A Tragos head flew out followed by a Leo arm.
"Their getting smart now." she said, ducking behind a barricaded AA-gun.
"You're finished now, Federation scum."
"What the fuck?! Shut up bitch!" A pair of Leo's went down with holes in their chest. Scott fired another grenade canister at a group but they backed off in time with only one of their MS's being destroyed.
"Strike-Three, Fox-Two!"
An AIM-9 missle streak from the sky and blasted an Aries into pieces right behind Shiro's mobile suit. Flying at low altitude was one of the Jolly Rogers, a JSF-18SE from the first initial attack of the base. It flew over their heads and closed in on the incomming OZ forces.
"Yeeeaaaahhhh haw!!! Looks like ya'll need some help over here commander." The fighter twisted dodging 105mm rifle fire before dropping a pair of Mk 84 2,000lbs bombs on a cluster enemies and pulling out at high-speed.
"Thanks for the assist, Strike-Three." Shiro turned to his team. "We got an opening, move in team!"
Somewhere in Eastern Europe...
"We've lost Pearl Harbor, Col. Treize."
Treize Khushrenada shook his head and waved the soldier off. "What do you think of this, Lady Une? The UEF is more persistant than they were originally perceived. The Zero system of Epyon foretold of my death sometime in the future by the hands of Gundam 05, but now the steps towards that fate are changing and not even those visions will come true."
The serious-looking woman uncharacteristically shugged. "I am not sure myself, Lord Treize. Maybe the Zero system induces an artificial hallucinogine. I have no experience with that system nor do I ever wish too."
"Possibly," he said calmly. A global map appeared in front of him. "Status on our fronts, Lady."
"Hawaii was just resently captured. Our South American forces will soon be over-whelmed in a few weeks. Canadian front is not fairing well either, but are holding their positions. No problems in Europe and African sectors, but there are reports of guerilla activity in China regions." she stated.
Treize thought for a moment, contemplating this information. "Space?"
"L4 and L5 clusters remain neutral. We've lost ten battleship-class space cruisers in a battle at Side-1. Any further information on the skirmish was jammed by UEF intel. Side-6 Luna Base reports that 30 frigate class, 30 destoryer class, 20 battleship class, and 10 mobile carrier class space ships have been constructed within the past two month period."
That surprised OZ's commander. "That fast? How?"
"It seems the World Federation was already in the proceess of creating a space fleet. A factory was found abandoned in the Sea of Tranquility along with 50 completed units, and more than three dozen nearly completed."
"Hmmm.." Then it hit him. "What of the unit that attacked Pearl Harbor?"
Lady Une shook her head. "The same unit that destoryed that Quarterback a month ago."
"Shit," he cursed loudly. "Recall Zechs and his unit from Sanq Kingdom. Tell him I have a special assignment for him."
She liked that look in his eye. "Care to share this information with me, Lord Treize." she cooed in his ear. She felt him shiver slightly at their proximity.
"I believe it would benefit that cause if we brought Epyon in a bit early in the game." he commented before taking the woman in his arms.
Somewhere in the Philippine Sea
One Month and 15 days Later...
1Lt. Yamada and Maj. Zabi sat with officers of the UEF Navy in a meeting to determine their next objectives. Papers were strewn about a table along with a large map with marker writing depicting their current path on their island-hopping campaign.
"We've come this far. Starting at Hawaii, Marshall Islands, down to the Soloman Islands, New Guinea, Australia and the Philippines. Now it's time to hit priority targets. Us Navy boys have priority targets in 10 locations in Japan's Hokkiado, Honshu, Kyushuu and Shikoku. What about ya'll?" asked the USS-Nimitz captain.
Shiro checked his orders. "Closest one we have is Tungkang, Taiwan. We also have another in Taipei but that's a 10 hour march from south to north."
The captain nodded. "What do ya thinkin' George?" he asked his aide.
"We can send a small squad of two frigates and a missle cruiser to attack Taipei. The Missouri can take care of herself at Nemuro, Hokkaido. VF-214 will hit Sapporo, Hokkaido; Hirosaki, Tokyo, Yokohama, Hamamatsu, Kyoto, Kobe on Honshu; Koochi, Shikkoku and Oita, Kyushu. The other missle cruisers will hit anything whatever our Cats-Eye recon fighter can target."
"We'll provide air cover for you guys. Just make sure you don't endanger the Daedalus like last time." commented the captain.
"Aye-aye, sir." Shiro and Kycilia saluted.
Coastal City Tungkang, Taiwan
0100 Hours...
The plan was for someone to infiltrate the enemy production plant and set bombs and markers so the mobile suits would be able to safely identify and target mission objectives. That's why Montel, Karen and Scott along with the sonar truck were hidding atop Chungyang Shamano mountains directly 7 miles east of the city.
"So why are we hiding here again?" asked Montel, adjusting the beam rifle in his MS's hand.
"We're hiding here because we don't want to be detected by OZ. Scott and myself will attack the base from long-range while you're here to defend us." she stated matter-of-factly. "That's also why I have Major Zabi's long-beam rifle."
"And why I have these babies loaded up." Scott pointed to the four MGM-20B Javelin missles mounted on the back of his MS.
"Quiet down. Keep the comm net clear." snapped Eledore from the command truck. He paused and set down his head-set. "Shit! Get ready to strike. She's almost in place."
Off in the distance deep inside the city where the two snipers had a clear shot of, Major Kycilia Zabi infiltrated a major OZ weapons, parts and ammo production facility. Her years of skill showed as she easily dodged and eluded detection from the guards and mobile suits for the past two hours while planting bombs and target indicators.
"There," she thought, planting the last brick of HE plastic explosive under a huge fuel silo. "This should be it."
"Stop right there!"
She found a light suddenly upon her and she cursed to herself. Before the guard could radio in, her hand lashed out and a throwing knife found itself embedded into a steel beam after passing through the mans head.
"Black Cat. Owl. I've been detected." she said to her wrist.
"Pull out. Scott will take care of the rest." came the reply.
"Roger."
"Eledore. I've got tone." commented Scott. He engaged the master arming switch and rested his finger on the trigger.
"Aina. Contact Daedalus to get ready. You guys are all green. Fire!"
Four missles launched high into the air before curving and raining down on the industry below. Explosions filled the area as warehouses, buildings, fuel and chemical silos exploded in deadly balls of flames.
"Karen. Left twenty. Mobile suits. Leo's." stated Eledore.
"Yokai!" She had her MS kneel down and brough the long beam rifle up to her shoulder. She zoomed in onto a lone mobile suit heading their way before putting a 2ft hole in it's cock-pit and engine.
"Montel!" Scott called.
"What?" He caught a canister and looked at it for a moment. "Huh?"
"You got twenty seconds! Get rid of it."
"Oh shit!" He lobed it over the city until it exploded over a group of mobile suits, though accidentally.
"Good throw," commented Scott.
"Shiro and the Major are back at the Daedalus. Fall back, we're done." Eledore commanded while Aina drove them down the hill.
"Daedalus, Mission complete. Falling back to point Delta."
"What do you mean 'our factories in Japan and Taiwan have been destroyed'?!" snapped an uncharacteristically angered Treize Khushrenada.
"That is exactly what has been reported, sir." stated the soldier. "The UEF has destroyed our new unit production facilities in Japan and Taiwan, including several parts manufacturting and fabrication plants. Also, several other production plants have been destroyed or sabatoged in various areas in Europe and Russia."
"Son of a bitch.."
Treize stood and looked out at the window that looked over the city that held the headquarters of the Organization of Zodiac. A smirk came to his lips as he found the solution to the problem.
"Contact Commander Zechs and Lt. Cmdr. Noin. Special order 2257. Transfer to Point K57."
"Yes, sir!"
"Dismissed."
Let's see if the UEF dogs can deal with this, he thought darkly. Peering out at a fire in the distance that was once a parts manufacturing plant, he scowled and turned away.
This war would soon be at a turning point and he'll make sure he's the victor. History would not repeat itself.
Weeks later in the Gulf of Thailand...
Tracers lit the night sky. Fires litters the city. War was being waged in the Gulf of Thailand at the cities of Bangkok, Rayong, Chon Buri, Phetchaburi and Hua Hin. UEF council got word of a new mobile suit in production besides the OZ-12MS Leo and wanted it destoryed along with the factory. That's why the 08th MS and Jolly Rogers along with the attack force steamed towards Thailand.
"Karen! 9 o'clock!"
"Shit!" A beam of hot death lanced through the cockpit of the enemy mobile suit. "Eledore! Did you get a bead on that base yet?!"
"No!" came the reply. "Aina, watch where you're going. Not even the Cats-Eye could find it. These are the coordinates though."
A flight of JSF-18SE's flew over before dropping a load of cluster bombs on top of a scattering tank battalion.
"If we don't find that factory, we're going to have to pull out soon." commented Shiro.
"Nimitz reports they destoryed a factory, but not the one we're looking for."
Scott looked around. "Have you guys seen Montel and the Major?"
That garnered questions also. "I think we lost them around Nav Beta across the bay in Hua Hin."
"I got them." said Eledore. "Their communications and long range radar are damaged in that last fight. Cats-Eye reports that their double checking the city."
"That's good to hear. Relay an order to keep withing eye-sight at all times."
"Already on --- wait a minute," he paused. "Sir. Cats-Eye reports strange vibrations comming from their area. Shit!"
"What is it?!"
"Montel and the Major have been engaged by unidentified mobile suit!"
"Shit!"
A few minute earlier...
Two mobile suits wandered the damaged city; a RX-79 and it's small Ez-8 variant. Both were walking the streets trying to cover each others backs incase of an attack.
"Why did I have to get stuck with you?" Montel complained, much to Kycilia's annoyance.
"I should say the same thing, but it's already obvious that I don't like you. Jerk." she shot back.
Neither spoke for a short while until one of them broke the silence.
"Back at Area 51, when I saw you in the gym," Montel began. "There was more too it than just Zechs letter, right?"
No reply.
"There was more, I knew it."
"So what of it?!" she snapped. "Why would you care?"
His gundam turns towards hers and visibly shrugged. "It's not like I don't care. I got a soft spot for women, I guess."
"Are you saying I'm WEAK?!" she growled in anger, pointing her MS Uzi at him.
He backed off a little. "Hell nah! You're almost as strong as my best friend!"
She thought that acceptable and cooled down before continuing on. Montel quickly followed and they searched the streets as best as they could. Again they did their job in silence.
"He killed my husband."
Montel looked at her. "What?"
"Zechs was in Nairobi and my husband went to fight him. Challenged him to a duel and lost. He was never good at piloting as Zechs, but beat the man in everything else, especially martial arts." she chuckled.
"Sounds like a nice guy," he commented.
Kycilia let off a sad sigh. "I miss Ranma."
It took Montel a while before he realized what she said. "What?"
"My husbands name was Ranma. He was from--" She looked at her short-range sensors. "Heads up."
Up ahead along the street she spotted a platform rising from the ground. She pinged her short range sensors and frowned. It was a tunnel that lead underground and something, or somethings were comming out.
"Somethings comming, I can feel it." she growled with clenched teeth.
Montel stayed silent and aimed his beam rifle.
"I got four readings comming up, Major."
"I know, Montel." She brought her long beam rifle up.
Then they appeared. Four mobile suits of a strange configuration stepped from the ground portal and stood side by side facing off against the two 08th MS Team pilots.
Two stood a meter shorter than the others and Montel's RX-79. They looked like giant football players with a blast shield hanging off the right shoulder with a semi-spiked shoulder armor on the left. They had heads that looked like streamlined helmets with only a single glowing eye the acted as a sensor in the black recess and no neck. Each leg held a missle launcher loaded with three missles while an axe rested on it's left hip. Each held in hand a 120mm rifle with an ammunition drum on a top feed.
Another was a bit taller than all the mobile suits. It was a strange configuration of mobile suit. It had a head that was semi-rounded with a four-point cross that contained a single cyclops eye sensor. In hand it had a huge bazooka or rocket launcher that could possibly deal more than enough damage while on it's back hung a charged heat saber that looked like a straight katana. It's legs where a slightly thicker at the calf and foot sections. It was colored mainly black with a sub-color of purple. The most distinctive feature of this MS was that is looked like it had a skirt.
The last mobile suit was the most menacing of all four. It stood at 18.2 meters tall, was more streamline than the two other variants and looked like it had less armor in the lower torso and legs. It's head had no neck and had the look of a football helmet with a breathing mask. Like the first variant, it had a recessed area were a single cyclops eye could travel in a 150 degree angle. It had the look of a football player, that is if you seen a football player with shoulder armor that had three horns on each side. On it's left arm a 35mm 3-barrel machine gun was mounted on the forearm which was hidden under a long shield that had a 75mm drum-fed gatling gun mounted to it. In it's right hand was a wicked-looking long sword. This mobile suit was colored red.
Montel's mobile suit took a step back. "Oh shit," he couldn't take his eyes off of the red mobile suit. "Char Aznable." he said to himself with a sliver of fear in his voice.
"OZ's new mobile suits." commented Kycilia. "Stand ready, Montel." A flare shot high into the air before exploding in a bright light that lit the area. It also acted as a signal for immediate support. She eyed the four new MS's with trepadition but literally froze upon hearing a voice from the red mobile suit.
"This is Lieutenant Commander Zechs Merquise of the Organization of Zodiac." Kycilia's body began to shake and her hands tightened around her controls to nearly crushing them. "It is clear that we have you two out numbered. Surrender peacefully and we can avoid any further blood shed today."
"What the hell? Niggah, you gotta be crazy if ya'll be thinkin' that I fin'sta give up to yo' bitch ass." Montel made his MS flip the group off. "If you wanna throw down then com----"
"Zechs."
Montel looked over at Kycilia's Ez-8. "Uh oh."
"Well, if it isn't my old friend Kycilia Zabi. I was hoping you have recieved my letter. My condolences on the loss of your husband. Ranma was a true warrior until the end." said the Lightning Count.
"It has been a long time, Kycilia." said another voice. A woman.
"And you're lackey Lucrecia Noin."
"Who are you calling a lackey?" growled Zechs's partner.
Montel's short range scanners came back with a report. "The computer detects combinations of luna-titanium alloy and gundanium alloy. It also found background energy signature similiar to our MS's. They have reactors too."
"Smart man, that you are." commented Zechs. "It was a shame I could not have you in my Special's unit--"
"Die."
Montel watching his XO charge the red mobile suit and shook his head. He turned towards one of the green units, a Zaku, and pulled off a shot of super-charged particles. The shot must of came as a surprise to the two 'Zakus' as they took time to find themselves. One was missing an arm.
"Shit. A warship-class beam weapon!" Montel heard them say. What a bunch of dumbasses, leaving their channel open. He fired again this time hitting the damaged Zaku in it's center, destroying the cockpit.
Off to the side, Kycilia engaged in a high-intensity battle against the red mobile suit. A powerful shot exited the tip of her long beam rifle but Zechs seemed to just not be there. On gut instinct, she turned and brought up her shield just in time to save herself from a salvo of 75mm cannon fire.
"You took him away from me!" Kycilia cried as she charged Zechs's red Gouf MS. Her shield began to tear apart into swiss cheese as the Lightning Count dodge while pouring hundreds of rounds of high-velocity shells out of his cannon.
"Damn you woman! If only you stayed on our side this wouldn't of happened!" said the masked man. His gatling gun ran dry.
"Ranma would never of joined a group that wished to take over the world!" She came in close, tossing away her shield and stabbing at the lower chest with her beam knife. Zechs parried and kicked her MS back. "And so wouldn't you sister!"
"Sister...?"
"An opening!" Again she came in low, but launched an MS sized uppercut that took the Lightning Count by surprise, knocking the Gouf onto it's back. But Zechs was only stunned momentarily. As quickly as he fell, he was back on his feet surpressing any further movement from Kycilia by keeping her pinned behind a building.
"What of her?!" Zechs growled. He hasn't seen his little sibling since the day when the World Federation attacked his old home.
"I know where she is." she said cooly, holding her long beam rifle in one hand and her beam knife in the other. "I can easily find her and end the last chance of your little kingdom of forming again."
She got the reaction she wanted. "I'll kill you if you touch a hair on her."
"Just like you killed my husband?"
Silence.
A halo of cannon fire whized by her left. Forty-five degree bearing south-west," she thought. She tosses the knife out towards the right and saw a stream of shots fired and slowly turn. She brought the rifle down and aimed to the left and zero'd in on the red Gouf as it came into her sights.
"Gotcha."
"Shit!" Zechs cursed. He brought up his shield and was thrown to the size as the gundanium alloy protector was split in two along with the gatling gun and the tri-barrel machine cannon. He launched a flare.
Kycilia covered her eyes as a blinding light filled the sky. Her gut told her to run and she did so, narrowly missing Zechs's blade cutting through the building and nearly taking her Ez-8's head. Grapsing the MS Uzi on the back, she turned and fire hitting nothing but air.
"Where did he go?" she thought.
"Shit," Montel thought as he hit behind a building. That Dom piloted by Lucrecia Noin exhausted all of his shots for his beam rifle and now he only had his vulcan cannon, a beam saber and twenty round left in his 100mm.
The other Zaku peeked around the building to his left and he filled the head and chest with whatever he had left.
Now he just had a beam saber.
"Son of a bitch." He switch on to an open channel. "Stop running away like a ho in that Dom and go head up with me Noin."
"How do you know my name and about this mobile suit?! Are you some spy?" came the reply.
"Aren't you moody. Must not be getting laid." he paused. "Oops! My bad, you aren't getting laid. Especially not by your boy Zechs."
"You little shit!" Noin's Dom slide to Montel's left side and fired. A 360mm rocket blew up his mobile suits head. She moved in close to the prone MS and aimed down intending to finish it.
"I can't see shit!" Montel cried. He still had control over his MS but had no visual. He swung his MS saber and by coincidence slide the barrel of the Dom's giant bazooka in two.
Noin growled at the luck this kid was having. Slide backwards she took hold of the heat saber mounted on the back and charged forward, intending to slide the mobile suit in half.
"Di--ARGHH!!!" she cried as she was suddenly rocked to the side by an explosion.
"Calvalry has arrived!" cried Scott as he fired round after round of his twin 180mm dober cannons at the strange new mobile suit he saw trying to do in his teammate. The thing was fast though, he couldn't get a good lock.
"You okay in there, Wysinger?" Shiro asked as his MS knelt down and Eledore and Aina pulled up in the hover truck.
The black man crawled out of the small hold in his cockpit. "Does it look like I'm okay?" he coughed, trying to sound sarcastic.
"Where's the Major?" Karen asked as she showed up.
"Off fighting Zechs a mile to the north."
"Thanks. Come on Scott." Karen ordered as her and the Guncannon trotted off.
Kycilia breathed heavily while hidding behind a nearly destroyed building. Zechs and herself have been going at it for a while and her annoyance at the man began to rise even higher.
"When I get my hands on you, I'm going to shove a napalm bomb down your throat and toss you down the mouth of the Japanese Fuji."
Zechs growled. "Will you shut up for once you insolent woman?! You're talking more shit than Ranma."
She heard the loud vibrations of a running MS but it suddenly stopped. She swung to the right and fired her MS Uzi before rolling to the side as the red Gouf swung around the building by it's heat rod grappling hook. She barely missing getting her head chopped off again.
"Die mother fucker!" Kycilia shouted while moving and firing all her weapons. .50 (12.7mm) caliber machine gun, 35mm vulcans and 40mm machine cannon Uzi opened up in a frenzy. She strafed, jumped and rolled but Zechs seemed to just not be there either by luck or skill, she didn't know. "Hold still you fucking asshole!"
"Zechs! We need to retreat!" came in another voice.
"Noin!"
Zechs charged in with his hand saber held high. "Time to end this, old friend."
Kycilia's short range radar pinged and she smiled.
"Thanks for the opening, old friend." She said with obvious sarcasm. "Scott, fire!"
"What?!" cried the Lightning Count. His suit rocked back as it took 180mm cannon shells in the chest.
"Damn. We WILL meet again, Kycilia Zabi." cursed the OZ commander. The fast moving Dom skidded by picking up debri and created a smoke screen.
Scott fired until his ammo ran dry. When the smoke dissipated the two new OZ mobile suits were long gone.
Major Zabi breathed a sigh of relief and threw off her helmet. Her head was drenched with sweat and she stunk of battle. "Thanks Scott, Karen. What took you guys so long?"
"We got here pretty early actually and watched. Sorry." Scott said sheepishly.
"What?!"
"We kinda listened in, Major. My first assignment was under Captain Saotome Ranma in while in Canada. I assumed that you also followed his code of combat." stated Karen with a somewhat meloncoly voice.
"I never followed my husbands code of honor. He understood that. That's why I was in Special Ops."
"He was a great man."
The masked woman sighed. "And a great husband."
"Orders, Major?" Scott asked.
"Contact the commander. Ask him to relay a message to the Nimitz. Enemy factory located underground in the city of Hua Hin. Coordinates Zero-eight-niner-niner mark two-zero-three-delta. 50ft below sea level. Relay to UEF Missouri, type NX346 reactive rounds recommended for bombardment."
"Those are sub-nuclear shells!" Gasped Scott. "I don't think the Missouri carries them."
"They do. Now shut up and just send the message." she said in exasperation.
"Shiro says we got 10 minutes to extract. Nav omega, 5 klicks south."
"Move out."
December 12, AC 195.
Area 51 Head Quarters...
"Do you you mean we're being transfered, Sir?"
A burly-looking officer tosses a manilla folder on the desk in front of Lt. Yamada and gave an audible grunt of annoyance. "It means exactly what I said, Lieutenant. You along with you're platoon are being transfered to Larange Point 1 Colony main cluster side-one. You're going into space."
Shiro looked at the information in puzzlement.
"We were requested?"
"Something like that. A militia operative that operates off of Side-1 Colony needed a somewhat elite group. Since you're team is not participating in Operation Marry Christmas due to you're involvement in Operation Odessa, you were up for grabs." He paused. "I don't trust the guy, though."
Shiro nodded. He reached into the envelope and took out five photos. All five pictures of children, but he did recodnize on two of them what was in the background. Gundam 02 and 05. Shiro stared at his commander.
"Mr. Arnold also sent those pictures. It seems he knows those four and immediately identified them as the Colony Gundam pilots. You're orders are simple, Lieutenant. You are to arrest the boy named Heero Yuy under the charge of murdering countless leaders of the old World Federation and the murder of Marshal Noventa."
Shiro scratched his head. "What of the other four?"
"Wufei Chang and Duo Maxwell are under Side-1 protection. The others are to be arrested along with Yuy for the destruction of Corsica Base. Dismissed."
"Sir!"
"Alright, listen up guys. We've got new orders."
Everyone gathered around Shiro as he laid out the orders and pictures of the gundam boys. He quickly filled them all in on their transfer and objective.
"Space, eh?" asked Montel. He eyed the picture of Duo Maxwell, specifically the mobile suit behind him.
He's finally gonna meet up with his old pal.
And now he had his chance to become the Shinigami.
End of Chapter 12
Author's Notes:
The reason Montel recieved the Medal of Honor was due to his actions when they were leaving port in the last chapter. A similiar feat was done in WWII in the pacific. A lone fighter shot down 6 Japanese bombers by himself and he was the only person in the sky at the time.
If you are wondering about what Kycilia Zabi would look like, picture a female like Chung Li's body, give her the head of Faye Valentine with red-hair in a suit similiar to that of Snake Eyes from GI Joe, but it's a dark purple, you can see her eyes and she wears a helmet similiar to her name-sake in Gundam 0079 but not as big.
The Prometheus-class carrier and the Daedalus were taken from Robotech.
A HART is a mass transport in a game called PlanetSide.
In the scenes with the Jolly Rogers, it went in this order: Strike Team (Pearl Harbor), Skull Squadron (scene from Macross: DYRL) and Skull 2 and 4 (Independance Day).
Oh, what of Kycilia being married to Ranma Saotome? I just added that as a twist of plot and for entertainment purposes. Different demensions, different people.
Just to let you know, for you slow people. The mobile suit that Zechs used was a MS-07B-3 Gouf Custom that was used by Norris Packard in "Shaking Mountain" in 08th MS Team. I made the suit red as an inside joke that depicted Zechs Merquise as Char Aznable. Lucrecia Noin's MS was the MS-09 Dom, the fastest ground combat MS and the other two were MS-06F2 Zaku II's from 0083 with leg missle augmentation.
On a side note, it is true that if the world was are war at this moment, many soldiers would not recieve their promotions in time due to back-logging or something like that. It happened alot in WW2 when Privates become promoted to Staff Sergents and Lieutenant's promoted to Captain's or Majors.
Anyways, story is comming along fine. It's funny how I got everything planned out, I know the outline in my mind, but it's the little things that are holding me back from serious writting. I'm still getting use to my graveyard shifts so that's kinda throwing me off, plus I'm getting back into some games. But Chapter 13 should be on the way. I got at least 6 pages done of that.
