Crossover With Non-anime Series Fan Fiction ❯ Terdwilicker's Anime Reviews ❯ Love Indivisible By Twins ( Chapter 56 )

[ A - All Readers ]

Ever since Tenchi Muyo OVA, back in the 1990s, Harem anime have been popular. They have a fairly steady interest, and their true origin is from dating simulation games that get animated, showing each romance route. This understanding was dropped in favor of manga which show the Drip (male with no particular abilities or characteristics) getting all the girls... provided he never chooses one of them. He just drags them along on his adventures and they are impatient to be chosen or abandoned so they can find someone else.

Twins is the opposite of this. They are childhood friends of the boy next door. The parents understand the situation better than the triangle does, knowing they are getting him as the son in law one way or the other, literally. He just has to choose, and then deal with the consequences of having broken the heart of the other, while his new bride tries to repair her lifetime friendship with her sibling. That's the stakes involved. The girls try different things to try and convince him to choose one or the other, including breaking up with him to try the other sister. They even try dating other boys, who aren't dumb enough to pretend they aren't intruding on a very serious love triangle that's been going on for 16 years, or since puberty anyway.

Unlike harem anime, the consequences of choosing aren't going to be written off as a funny joke, or delayed infinitely, or turned into a 'legal one and mistress' situation. He does have to choose. And there's no other anime like this.
