Crossover With Non-anime Series Fan Fiction ❯ Terdwilicker's Anime Reviews ❯ Alya Hides Her Feelings In Russian ( Chapter 57 )
Russian is not a popular language or culture in Japan. While Russia occupies Sakhalin island NW of Hokkaido, and illegally occupies the Kuril Islands NE of Hokkaido. Yet, one voice actress decided to learn the language and went off to college in Russia, too. She's a fan. And someone wrote a manga that is tailor-made for her, so she got the part, and she's doing a fantastic job playing the part of Alya.
Alya is a Russian girl in Hokkaido, attending high school with several relatives. Her origin is a bit of a mystery, as is the origin of the hero she finds a way to spend time with in her classroom in high school. The family mess in this story is an undercurrent and its not that hard to work out from clues, with its nod to Ai Yori Aoshi, one of the best romance not-a-harem anime, in the top 20 all time. Alya is a determined pale girl with silver blonde hair. Her older sister is the grade above, a cheerful blonde with an outgoing personality. Alya is one of those solemn Russian beauties. Her frequent sotto voce comments in Russian, which her not-boyfriend understands without admitting it, gives him clues to her true feelings.
The running gag of understanding her inner monologue voiced in Russian does not grow old because there's lots of family drama played out in metaphor as school election drama, played out with the hero's younger sister running against his choice, Alya. Either would be good for the school, both want his attention for similar reasons.
The animation quality is high, and there's a second season approved.
