‘Till Halloween by Yaoi Girl
It had been several hours since the pair had fallen asleep, but Allen abruptly sat up, startling Lavi whose arm went flying to the headboard in the process before the silver haired teen scrambled from the bed with a hand over his mouth.
‘Here we go again,’ Lavi sighed as he heard the heaving sounds from his bathroom moments later.
He pushed the blanket off his body and got out of bed, slightly wobbly from not being fully awake, and headed to the bathroom to find Allen sitting on his knees in front of the toilet, his eyes glazed over and his breathing coming in pants with an occasion dry heave as he leaned back over the toilet despite the fact that nothing further came up.
Lavi sat down next to him, running a hand up and down his sweat dampened, clothed back. “Feel better?”
Allen turned his flushed face to Lavi, shaking his head as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
“Are you done for now?”
Allen wobbled slightly, his eyes drooping shut before he nodded. Lavi then helped him to his feet, wrapping an arm beneath Allen’s arms and helping him to the sink to rinse his mouth out and wash his hands. On the way out, Lavi flushed the toilet and clicked off the light while leading the teen back to the bed.
Once they reached the bedside, it took Allen only seconds to flop carelessly down and curl up under the covers. The red head sat down next to him, rewetting the cloth in the basin next to him and placing it on the other boy’s forehead.
“Sorry that you feel so shitty,” Lavi smiled softly as he brushed Allen’s bangs from his face.
“Sorry you have to baby me like this,” came the sleepy response as Allen smiled tiredly up at him. “I don’t usually get sick. But when I do, all hell breaks loose.”
“So I see.”
Allen yawned before looking up at Lavi, somewhat worried. “Did you feed Miya earlier?”
“Uh…” the red head began, averting his gaze and scratching is cheek. “Now that you mention it, no.”
“Lavi!” the teen whined in disbelief.
“Actually…I haven’t seen the runt all day.”
“You don’t think she got outside do you?!” Allen gasped, sitting up too fast for his head’s liking, as he teetered back and forth for a moment before regaining himself.
“It’s possible,” Lavi sighed.
“Could you please look around for her, Lavi?” the teen pleaded as he squished the cold rag closer to his forehead.
Lavi really didn’t want to leave his bed, or Allen’s side for that matter, but Allen was simply too cute with that pathetic pout and flushed cheeks to deny him anything. Allen could’ve asked him for something completely outrageous, like a waterbed fish tank, and Lavi would’ve gotten if for him, right then and there. (A/N: wouldn’t that be AWESOME to have?! No…maybe it’s just me XD)
With a sigh, he hoisted himself off the mattress and headed down the hall, peaking under every piece of furniture that he had that a small kitten could easily fit under. But to no avail as he examined his living room, kitchen, and laundry closet twice over. Even the bathroom showed no signs of her.
He returned to the bedroom, rubbing a hand through his slightly mused hair, prepared for the inevitable tears that Allen would surly shed. But in a vein attempt to reassure him, he said, “I haven’t checked in here yet.”
And so, he proceeded to check under his bed after turning the bedroom light on, much to Allen’s dismay as he groaned and ducked under the blanket to shield himself, under his night stands, under his beanbag chair…nothing. Not even a hint of cat pee where she usually went either.
Allen sighed sadly as he emerged from beneath the blanket after the red head had turned the light back off and settled on the bed next to him. Lavi then hugged the teen as he sat up and set his rag aside; Allen was more than happy to comply to his embrace as he wrapped his arms around Lavi’s waist and nuzzled his cheek against his chest, inhaling the scent of fabric softener.
“I don’t know where she went.”
“Are you sure you checked everywhere?” Allen asked as he pulled his head up to look the red head in the eye.
Lavi simply nodded, staring deeply into those pale hues.
“Liar.”
“How am I lying? Did you see where I had looked?”
A small smirk of hope appeared across Allen’s lips. “No. But I did see at least one place you didn’t look.”
“And where’s that?” To which Allen simply pointed over to the closed bedroom closet.
“Like she would be in there…” he sighed as he regretfully released the silver haired teen and ventured to said closet, wrenching on of the sliding doors to the side. And lo and behold, little Miya came prancing out with a piece of something in her mouth.
“You little shit!” Lavi snarled as he looked inside his closet to find a beautiful mess to clean up. Not just bathroom mess, but also paper and plastic mess that she had shredded from various bags.
Of course, she paid him no head as he simply jumped up onto the bed, rubbing against the sickly Allen.
“Just close the door and I’ll clean it up in the morning. You need sleep as much as I do. Besides, I know you’ll be even more grumpy than usual if you don’t come back to bed now.”
“I’m not going near that bed until she’s out of this room.”
“You’re so childish, Lavi,” Allen laughed as he sat took the piece of paper from her mouth and set it aside.
The red head simply gave him a withered look and crossed his arms over his chest, not moving from his closet.
“Fine!” Allen sighed as he sat her on the floor and got up.
“Where are you going?” Lavi then inquired as the teen left the room.
“To feed her since you obviously don’t want anything to do with her right now,” he said over his shoulder, soon after disappearing into the kitchen with Miya right behind, tail straight up in the air.
‘I knew I shouldn’t have given in when he wanted to keep her…’ he thought with a sigh as he finally uncrossed his arms and closed the door, venturing back over to his side of the bed and climbing under the covers.
Allen returned to the bedroom a few moments later, closing the door behind him, but simply standing there with his eyes focused to the ground as he leaned back with his hands against the door.
“What’s wrong?”
The silver haired teen still didn’t look up at him. “I think I should probably go sleep in my own room.”
“What brought this on?” Lavi laughed somewhat as he continued to watch the downcast teen before him.
“It’s…it’s not right for me to be taking advantage of you like this. I should only be here when you invite me here instead of me coming over when I please. Because I know when you have friends over, you’re not going to what a young kid like me here. And the biggest reason is...” he swallowed hard, his eyes shyly meeting Lavi’s. “We’re two young male adults sharing a bed. That’s not normal. Even I know that much from being home schooled.”
That struck Lavi hard.
“If that’s the way you feel, then okay. Do what you want,” Lavi shrugged, trying to sound uninterested despite his pain. “I personally don’t care that we’re in the same bed, and I don’t know what brought this on all of sudden seeing as you’ve been sleeping in here with me for weeks now without a protest.”
He couldn’t lie to Lavi, but he didn’t want to tell him either. But he knew he had to tell him.
Allen slowly pushed himself off the door and walked to the bed, sitting on it and tucking his legs beneath himself as he stared squarely into Lavi’s eyes, scared.
He worried his bottom lip for a few minutes in though, all the while the pair kept eye contact. Lavi could definitely see the uncertainty there.
“I’ve been feeling things lately. Emotions and sensations I’ve never felt before. And I’ve always read that these feelings are supposed to be associated with being with someone of the opposite sex, not the same sex. I wanted to be away from you until I got over these feelings because I don’t think that you want to be around me.”
Lavi chuckled as he cupped one of Allen’s cheeks, sitting up himself.
“Allen, it’s perfectly fine for you to feel this way. Love has no boundaries, so whoever you fall for is who you fall for, plain and simple.”
“But you don’t feel the same way,” he said as he shifted to scoot off the bed, stopping when Lavi caught his wrist that was pivoting himself around.
“I’m not going to look at you any differently. You are you and always will be the gentle, caring, adorable smartass that I know now. Besides, you’re sick and you need attention. We’ll talk more about this tomorrow!” Lavi smiled as he jumped up and laid the teen down fully on the bed beneath him. “You’re not going anywhere tonight. You stay right here and sleep.”
Allen sighed. He really didn’t want to be there. He had embarrassed himself enough tonight in front of his crush.
“Goodnight, Lavi,” he said simply, even as the other boy hovered over him and he closed his eyes tightly.
The red head frowned and released Allen’s shoulders, rolling back over to his side of the bed.
“You’re wrong, Allen. I do like you. A lot,” he smiled sadly as he gently ran a hand through the silver locks. “Now go to sleep and we’ll talk when you’re better.”
