::.A week and a half later.::

Sephiroth watched Krad intently. The blond seemed…happy, being around the other workers. He knew that Krad would warm up to Aeris, almost everyone did. Sephiroth wasn't jealous of their relationship. No, the only time he got envious, was when Krad and Vincent got too close together.

Right now was one of those times. Krad and Vincent were playing a game of Chess; it was Friday. It didn't matter what they were doing. Krad's attention wasn't on Sephiroth, and silver haired man hated that.

Sephiroth walked over to the table where Krad and Vincent were seated. His eyes were on Vincent's, as he stood behind Krad's chair, wrapping his arms around the blond's shoulders from behind. He felt Krad relax in his arms, and smirked.

`Good evening, Master.' Krad tilted his head back, smiling up at Sephiroth.

Sephiroth lent down, kissing the tip of Krad's nose. `It's almost your bedtime. You have a big day tomorrow.' He straightened. `Go get ready for bed. I'll join you shortly.'

Sephiroth felt, more than heard, Krad sigh, before knocked Vincent's queen over with a bishop. `Checkmate.' Krad stood from his chair, and left the room, bidding everyone a good night.

`You should keep your jealousy on a leash, Sephiroth,' Vincent stated.

`What have I to be jealous of? You? Don't kid yourself. Krad is just naïve.' Sephiroth inclined his head, and turned to leave. Vincent's words stopped him.

`Exactly, Sephiroth; he is naïve. Why don't you just let him go home before he gets too attached to here? His brother would be missing him.'

Sephiroth scoffed. `It was his brother who got him into this mess. I would have preferred to kill the little bastard, but - we all have our standards, don't we?' With that, Sephiroth left the room, climbing the stairs to the second floor.

When on the second floor landing, Sephiroth sighed. He lent against the banister. Perhaps I should just let him go home. It wouldn't do any harm. Rolling his eyes, and shaking his head, Sephiroth continued to the third floor. He quietly entered his room, seeing Krad already in bed.

Sephiroth walked to the balcony doors, staring out at the night sky. `Krad?' he asked softly. `Do you like it here?'

He heard Krad moving around on the bed, probably to sit up. `It-it has taken some - I'm not fully adapted. But I can't hate you for something my brother did.'

Sephiroth frowned. `Where did this sense of justice come from?'

`In the last week you have treated me so well.' Krad moved onto his knees, staring at Sephiroth's profile. `I realized that I was forcing myself to hate you. You don't deserve that. You're only doing what you think is right.'

Sephiroth thought it through. He finally faced Krad, walking up to the edge of the bed. He cupped Krad's cheek, seeing sincerity on his gold eyes. The boy was too logical for his age.

`What would you say if I told you that you could go home?'

Krad bit his lower lip. He was curious as to what this was all about. Was his Master seriously going to let him go? Or was he just toying with him? Letting him think that freedom is an option for him. Krad chose the first one.

`I would ask if my brother's debt had been paid off.'

`And if I said no?'

`I would ask why you asking me this. If my brother's debt isn't paid off, then there is no reason for me to leave. Right?'

Sephiroth sighed, pulling away from the boy. `We'll see how things go in a month. If nothing has changed, then you are free to go.' Sephiroth turned his back to the blond, letting him know that the discussion was over.

As he went to the bathroom, just before the door closed, he was certain he heard Krad whisper, `Yes, Sephiroth.' He shook his head, and closed the door. Will he have trouble letting go? Or will I be the one who can't let go?
