Prologue;
You may have heard of the legends of old; that tenshi gave her life, for an unborn child and that her love sacrificed his other half, so that he could once again, see her before the days that they were able to walk this planet, faded into the nothingness. And how that tenshi was reincarnated as that child, she once gave her life for, so long ago. But that is not where the legend ends, it still continues this very day, for her love is searching for her, and every generation of the Niwa family, he returns, known as... Phantom Dark.

Chapter 1; Legends of old
She is sleeping in her comfy bed, eyes shut tightly, trapped in a nightmare that she's been having for days. `Who will bring me out of this nightmare?' She wondered. This young girl has been sleeping for three days strait and her parents are starting to worry. Maybe they should have told her, her destiny.

The darkness flooded over her mind as she tried to run toward the only light that was visible. Her intakes and outtakes of breath are nothing but short puffs of air. An endless pain ran through her body. `It hurts...' Her heart felt like someone ripped it out of her and stomped on it. `What's wrong with me?' A shadow formed over her delicate face. `Where am I? Who am I?' Someone reached out toward her.
“Take my hand, Hikari... I shall lead you out of this darkness.” He took her by the hand.
`Who are you? ...I-I can't see your face...'
“Don't worry, I won't harm you,” he pulled her closer to him and brought her toward the light.
`Thank you...' Before she opened her eyes from her nightmare she caught a glimpse of her love as he was taken away from her once again.
:xXxXxXxXxXx:
“DAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRK!!!!” she screamed at the top of her lungs as she jerked awake, tears rushing from her eyes; the pain no longer there, just an endless sadness. Her parents jerked awake from their sleeping places, in her bedroom corner. They had spent the last two nights watching over her, worried that she would never wake. Her mother rushed to her side.
“Hikari? What's wrong, honey?” she whispered cooingly to her daughter. Hikari clasped her hands over her face, crying harder into then.
“Mom, I had that dream again... b-but this time, it was worse. I saw his face for the very first time and he was taken away from me... and when he was, it felt like someone ripped out my heart.” Her body began shaking violently with her sobs. Her mother wrapped her arms around her daughter and stroked her hair.
“Darling, I think it's time for your father and I to explain something to you, about,” a brief silence “your destiny and your past...” The girl's father walked toward the both of them and placed his hand on his wife's shoulder.
`My destiny...' “My destiny?” she lifted her head up to look into both of her parents' eyes. Her father nodded.
“Hai, your destiny”
“What do you mean my destiny? How does it have anything to do with my nightmares?”
“My dear, you've heard of the legends about the yangu tenshi, have you not?” her mother replied back to her as she sat there, returning her daughters gaze, no longer stroking her hair.
“Etou... hai, of course. You were the ones who told me the legend.” They all nod.
“You remember that the tenshi gave her life up to save a baby that was going to die a tragic death when she grew older, do you not?”
She nodded as her frown turned into a smile as she talked about the angel. “Hai. The tenshi was watching through the looking glass, into the future, and saw how the child was going to die, that she was going to be killed by someone she loved dearly. And so she couldn't stand by and watch that happen and decided to confront the kamigami. She asked them if she could take the child's place.”
“And they agreed on only one condition.”
“That she would have to give up her wings, now, and cease to exist, until the child was born.”
“Do you also remember the legend saying how long the period of time, until the child was born, would be?” Her father asked her as he sat down next to his wife.
“Hundreds of years, right?”
“Hai. You remember what she said before she agreed to their terms?”
Hikari shifted where she was sitting to make herself more comfortable. Then she decided to pace the room. “She said that if she must cease to exist for that long, then, so be it. She said she would only do it because, no child should deserve to die like that.” She sat back down. `Something isn't right here... why are they asking me about the legend?' "Father, Mother, nani does this legend have anything to do with my destiny?" Her parents glanced at each other then looked back at their daughter. Her father was the first to speak.
"We're getting to that, Hikari, but first..." he trailed off unable to tell his daughter the other half of the legend that they had kept hidden from her since she was a child. "The tenshi... she was..."
"The tenshi was in love with one of her kind. His name was Dark..." Hikari's eyes clouded over from hearing the name that meant so much to her even though she didn't understand why. Who was this Dark that haunted her dreams as of late?
`Haunted, more like saved me from my nightmares...'
"Dark... the guy from my nightmares." She finally replied as her parents both starred at her.
"Hai..." her mother stopped short. `Why do I feel a, but coming on?' "but, they not only loved each other... they were connected, in more ways than one..." A slight blush tinged the edges of Mrs. Koshii cheeks as her daughter's eyebrow rose on its own accord. "Once one disappeared the other would shortly follow, they were forever bonded. Even if Dark's other half didn't agree to it."
`Other half... she almost makes it sound like Dark had split personalities...' Hikari wondered to herself.
"You see, my dear," her father started, "Dark had another half. I guess you could say the light to match his darkness. Dark was the dark half and Krad was the light half, hence, the reason why their names are spelt backwards." Hikari began to glare at her parents.
`Why don't they just get to the point already?'
"Mother, Father, I still don't see the point in this. Why does it have anything to do with my destiny?"
"Darling," her father began again, "what your mother meant about them being bonded is that... when the yangu tenshi gave up her wings she ceased to exist and her love followed shortly after. Because he couldn't live with the pain of being without her. He decided that if he ever wanted to see her again, he'd have to give up his other self. And so he did. And now, for the past hundred of years, ever since his love disappeared... Dark has returned in every generation of the Niwa family, searching for her. But only if that generation is a boy, of course." Her mother cleared her throat and Hikari could tell that this was the part that was really important.
"Your friend, Niwa Daisuke, is Dark," her mother stated bluntly, "and the tenshi that gave her life for that child so long ago has returned..." her mother closed her eyes as a single tear went down her cheek. "My dear, you are that tenshi..." Hikari gasped.
"Nani?" Hikari couldn't believe the words that were coming out of her parents' mouths. How could she be the angel that she looked up to ever since she was a little kid? `Why didn't they tell me? Why tell me now? What's going to happen to me?' "Daisuke is Dark?” her parents nodded. "And I'm the tenshi?" They nodded again. "Then, who is Krad?" Her parents glanced at each other again and then returned their gaze to their daughter's.
"We honestly have no idea..." they replied to her in unison. Hikari gasped again. Somehow she had a feeling, deep down, that she knew who this Krad was.
