Disclaimer: I do not own DNAngel.

Authors note: I have decided to start the second chapter of this fic. I’ve been curious of why I should, or even why I bothered writing this story. It’s not really up to meting my expectations of a decent fan-fic. But, since the reviewers has spoken, I guess, it is time to write. But be warned, this fic will be coming in progress slowly. So, I will try to do my best in making each chapter in great length and in more detail. A lot of you made mention about it being like the show. So, let’s do a little changing shall we?

Enjoy and be warned… long chapters are ahead. Phantom and His Maiden   Chapter 2 “Her Song”   --For she is the chosen one. The one to decide fate.

His mouth parted. His body ached. He gasped out, trying to catch his breath, feeling his throat begin to close up. His eyes began to blur and he could feel his skin ripping and his bones cracking. Sickness swept over him. What’s happening to me? Daisuke’s mind cried out, watching, or at least trying too, watch his fingers while they shook and grow at the same time.

-Finally, his vision cleared up. Looking at the palm of his hand and the back, he blinked. Something didn’t seem right. It seemed to… weird? His fingers somehow grown longer, slender. -

Struggling to get on his feet his body swayed. His legs gave out almost, like he was still a baby learning how to re-walk. But that wasn’t the case. No. He crossed over through the bedroom and opened his closet door. There, there stood a mirror. Hanging on the door he looked at it. His eyes forced widely and his hands quickly clasped around his face, checking to see if the figure in the mirror copies his own gesture.

This wasn’t him. No. Not at all. His body, his hair, his eyes. Everything. It all changed. But how? Quickly slamming the door shut his heart raced as he backed up against the door. No! This has to be some dream. It’s not real. That couldn’t be me! His mind screamed. Check. Check one more time. See if it’s true. His thoughts powered his hand as it quivered to the door knob and he opened it again. For the last time.

No change. His hair, purple and long. His eyes, darkened with a violet look, and seductive. His body, took more of a full grown teenagers than say, a young teenage boy like he should be.

Leaving the door open, he raced down the steps and came to a quick halt. Looking at his grandfather and mother. “What’s wrong with me?!” He asked, catching his breath while looking at his hands and back up at his mother who stood with a towel in her hands and a smile on her face.

“Aw, you look even better now than when I first saw you Dark.” Daisuke’s mother exclaimed as she quickly embraced the boy around the neck, squeezing tightly.

Daisuke squeaked, “My name isn’t Dark mom. It’s Daisuke. Dai-su-ke.”

“Honey you look great.” His mother squealed, as she leaned her head against the white towel she so happen to be drying her hands with. But found it more appealing and comfortable to use a neat little pillow and gave her son a wink.

Daisuke looked at his body that out grown the clothing he’s wearing. “This looks great?! Mom! What happened to me?! I don’t understand this!”

Daisuke’s mother sighed, “Remember the Legendary Phantom Dark?” His mother asked as she went back behind the kitchen and began chopping some freshly gardened onions.

“What about it.”

“What if I told you that that story lives on to this very day?” She hummed a tune in her voice. A smile spread across her face. She couldn’t help but take small glances of the boy who blinked hesitantly at his own mothers concept of the matter. Was this natural for a mother?

“Are you telling me-”

“Yes Daisuke, you are thee Phantom Dark.”

The words lingered in the air. His face expressionless. His violet eyes darted over at his grandfather who was sitting at the counter with a newspaper in his hand. Not daring to look up at his grandson. Thinking nothing of this change. “Do not look at me Daisuke. For this is yours and Dark’s destiny. Whether you choose to accept it or not. You have no choice in the matter. And neither do I, or your mother at the matter. For the Phantom has chosen you.” His grandfather flipped a page.

“What are you saying? I have to take this as it comes?! So I have no life? I can’t be a teenager anymore?” Daisuke asked plopping down on the couch crossing his hands in front of his chest and his eyes staring directly at his grandfather, waiting for an answer of some sort.

“Daisuke, honey. Your grandfather is right. You know you do know that you can be-gone this curse but only on one condition.” His mother forcefully said as the knife slashed down on the onion, making small pieces on the cutting bored.

“Yeah and what’s that?” Daisuke asked with a grumbled tone.

“You must steal the famous panting of De La Noon.”

“De what?!” Daisuke blinked, “You want me.” Daisuke pointed to himself. “To steal a painting? Are you out of your mind?! I will get caught!”

“Daisuke, you will do what your mother tells you to do. You can not turn back now.” His grandfather said in a shaky voice as he liked his index finger and flipped a page in the newspaper and straightened it out. He hummed. A hum that only meant he was interested in what he saw on the page he flipped too.

“Grandpa.” Daisuke’s mouth slightly opened, shocked for what came out of his grandfathers mouth.

“That’s right Daisuke, I have already placed out a notice that the Phantom Dark will be stealing the De La Noon at--”

(Scene change)

“Midnight.” The man clutched the note in his hands and smirked. “What does he think we are? Stupid?” The dark hair man exclaimed while looking at a large clock on the building everyone stood around. Five till midnight.

“This is going to be great!” Takeshi exclaimed, sitting high in a tree with a video camera in his right hand. “Forty years and the Phantom Dark will finally make his appearances tonight! And I get to see it.” Takeshi exclaimed as he looked at his silver watch, wrapped around his wrist.

News crew was already their beginning to tap, waiting for the Phantom for his appearance. “We’re standing here today, at the Museum of Arts, where the Phantom Dark will be making his appearances after forty--long, years.” The lady standing in front of the news camera exclaimed as people shifted, gasped, and pointed in the air.

“Look it’s the Phantom Dark!” A man exclaimed pointing at a figure in the sky. A winged creature high up passed the moon with wings larger than what any human ever could visualize.

(Scene change)

With a sigh Daisuke looked down at all the people who stared at him with amazement on the ground, “Well Wiz, looks like we’re pretty popular.” Daisuke muttered as Wiz placed Daisuke on the edge of a window and turned back into his regular white, cute, looking self.

“Kyuu.” Wiz smiled rubbing against Daisuke’s warm cheek.

Daisuke smiled weakly, “Okay Wiz, that’s enough.” Daisuke exclaimed, darting his eyes around the dark room as his eyes came across a painting of two women. Both back to back with a moon behind them. He slowly walked up to the portrait and a smirk exceeded from the tip of his lips. “Well that wasn’t to hard.” He exclaimed.

Reaching out to grab the picture down, a voice from behind smirked. “So, you did come after all.”

Daisuke’s eyes widen in terrify. He slowly turned around to see Satoshi. Satoshi! What’s he doing here? Daisuke thought staring deeply past the glasses and deep within the crystal blue eyes.

“Well, well, if it’s not the Phantom Dark. It’s almost like we’ve met before. Don’t you agree.” Satoshi exclaimed as his left leg swung around on the ground, making the Phantom drop hard on his back.

Satoshi, startled the violet hair boy and pinned his arms down on the ground. “This is it Dark. I can not allow you to go. I’ve been waiting for so long to do this. That this day has finally came.” Satoshi smirked.

Daisuke tried moving free, but the grasp of Satoshi’s was strong. Someone, anyone help me! A light within Daisuke’s mind pressed forward as a voice in his head said: “You’ve done good this fare Daisuke, I’ll take over from here.” With that Daisuke felt his body to grow weak and something else took over.

“I don’t think so.” Dark exclaimed, smirking as his eyes darted over towards the painting still hanging on the wall. “Wiz!” Calling out for his white creature friend, Dark took one foot and gammed it in the pit of Satoshi’s stomach. Making Satoshi land hard on the ground.

Quickly grabbing the painting, Dark watched Satoshi get to his feet. “Don’t you think you got away from me yet, Dark.” Satoshi gritted while staring at the dark complexion boy who placed the painting under his arm.

“Then tell me:” Dark taunted, “Which one of us, is the true Dark?”

“What?!” Satoshi looked behind him and then in front of him. He gritted his teeth. “You won’t get away with this Dark!” Satoshi yelled as Dark quickly ran to the edge of the window and turned his head:

“Don’t worry, I already have, Commander.” Dark then fell. His wings sprouted out of his back, almost landing for the ground. Picking him up and flapping his wing a smirk fell upon his face. “Thanks With. That was a close one.” Flying high with the panting shoved under his arm, feeling the wind brush through his hair, he didn’t want to leave the transformation. He felt so…alive. Ya know Daisuke, I could really get used to this. He thought while twirling in the wind, the moon shined down on him. Dark Mousy, the Phantom thief finally back. It’s been way to long for him not be able to feel the wind, the moon light, or even the feeling of a warmth body. Locked up for forty years almost felt like an eternity of sleep.

Where, where am I? Daisuke asked, feeling cold, helpless and incoherent.

Dark smirked, Don’t worry kid. Your fine with me here. Dark announced as he flew under a bridge at high speed, listening to the cars honk their horns.

Here? With you? How am I here with you if I don’t see here or even feel here. Where am I? And why do I feel so… cold? Daisuke asked as he tried his best to wrap his arms around his body, but something kept him from doing it. Something strong.

Dark only smirked, listen kid, I like this body. I’m not leaving it.

What?! Daisuke cried out in his darken area, his mind growing furious, What do you mean your never leaving it?! You can’t stay this way forever! Your going to have to let me be human! Daisuke prohibited as he focused on himself, his friends, Satoshi, Takeshi, Riku… and the girl he loved, Risa.

Dark wrapped his arms around his body, What are you doing you idiot? Trying to get us both killed? Dark grimaced at the pain in his chest, Listen. You can have you old self back, but for now, won’t you let a guy like myself at least enjoy his time being human for a little while? Plus, maybe I can get that big date with that girl of yours. She seems pretty damn cute, from the way you picture her. Dark smirked as he flew around a large apartment building, as two couples sat out on the balcony eating. Drawing their attentions to the figure in the air their mouths opened and forks dropped on their plates.

“Sorry to spoil your dinner!” Dark waved as he quickly passed around and smirked. “Looked like that girl was going to faint.” Dark smirked. “She seemed pretty cute too.”

Okay, that’s it! I want back to my normal self! NOW!” Daisuke yelled as the flew over by the Harada’s home.

Their stood Riku, starring straight out at the seas. For what reason? Unknown. She seemed to be deep into her thoughts, leaning against the hand rail of their balcony.

With a smirk Dark’s temptation took over him, landing on the balcony he slowly walked over. “You know, it’s a bit cold out for a pretty girl like yourself to be out like this.” He protested, as she quickly turned around with a shrilling cry.

With wide violet eyes, Dark quickly wrapped his hand around her mouth and hushed her, “Shhh, don’t make to much noise!” He protested as his eyes searched frantically around, making sure no one in the house saw.

Slowly, moving his hand away from her face another cry escaped her mouth as she almost slipped away from his grasp but he quickly grabbed her arm and brought her face to his. Pressing his lips softly against hers with his eyes closed and hers wide open, he felt his body begin to change back into Daisuke.

Oh no! Daisuke cried feeling his body begin to grow warm, as a light shinned in front of him. Quickly turning away and making his way down the balcony, Wiz quickly spread out to become his wings. “That was so close!” Daisuke moaned as he shot off into a distances where no one could see him, where fog begun to form overhead.

OoO

How could he do such a thing?! Daisuke rubbed his hands in front of his face with cold water. Wiping his face with a white towel, his eyes jolted up at the mirror. Placing his index and middle finger to his lips he blushed harshly. I can’t believe him! Kissing Miss. Harada like that! What kind of guy just throws himself at a girl? Daisuke thought blankly as his grandfather took a quick glance and then a long stare.

“Daisuke, are you by any chance alright?” His grandfather asked, placing his hands behind his back with a newspaper rolled up in them.

Daisuke startled, “Ahhh!” his crimson eyes quickly darted towards his grandfathers direction, “Grandpa, don’t you know how to knock?” Daisuke asked.

His grandfather arched an eyebrow, “Well, I do believe that my grandson would be more open to the idea that someone could sneak up behind him any minutes. I guess all that training we did, didn’t pay off.” A sigh escaped the old man’s mouth as his gray mustache moved while he talked.

“Daisuke, I noticed when you came home tonight, that you wasn’t Dark. Is there something you’d like to tell me?” His grandfather was always the type to ask the depth questions, consisting of the Phantom Dark and Daisuke. It was normal too. Once he was Dark and he knows how Dark’s behavior is.

Daisuke sighed pressing his face into the towel one more time, “It’s nothing grandpa.” he muttered in the towel while he could picture Riku’s face. Blushing like crazy his mind scolded him. No no no! You can’t think of the older Miss. Harada like that!

His grandfather shrugged, “If you say so Daisuke. But Daisuke.” His grandfather paused. Daisuke looked to the side in his towel, “You do know that I was once Dark and I do know how he thinks.” With that note he carried on what he was about to do down the hall.

Daisuke blinked hesitantly after raising his head. What now? Daisuke thought as he backed up to the wall and leaned his head against it. I just want to be a normal teenage boy. Why do I have to be so different? Daisuke asked himself looking at the ceiling wall.

You know, your not all that different. Daisuke quickly startled. “Wh-Who said that?” Daisuke looked around, trying to figure out the voice. It was so familiar, it seemed to be close that it sent chills down his spin.

“Listen Kid, if you think that your life is that tough, then well I don’t know what to tell you. Your just going to have to deal with it that I’m you and your me. If that makes any sense.” Daisuke sighed. Realizing that the voice belonged to his ungodly other being, ’Dark Mousy’.

“You know, you could be a little considerate of other’s and warn them that your going to just interrupt their mental thoughts.” Daisuke announced opening the cabinet up in the bathroom, “But then again… wait?! Your saying you heard me, or thought the same as, Oh man, I’m so confused.” Daisuke groaned grabbing his toothbrush and scrunched up his nose.

Dark’s voice laughed, “Listen, I can hear everything your saying and thinking. It’s a part of me also you know. No different than you knowing what I’m saying and hearing.” Dark announced crossing his arms in front of his body, floating in darkness. “Plus, be happy your not always in complete darkness anyway. Unlike myself, I have to sit here and wait until you see that girl again.”

“That’s not funny.” Daisuke said, as he shoved the toothbrush in his mouth. “Plus, if I remember right, you have a crush on the other Miss. Harada buddy!” Daisuke spitted some of the toothpaste on the mirror on an accident. Grabbing the washcloth and cleaning it off, he then took the towel to make sure no smug area’s are noticeable.

“She is pretty cute isn’t she?” Dark taunted in Daisuke’s mind.

“No!” Daisuke quickly announced, “Well I mean she’s not ugly, I mean she’s not… Ohh. Your doing this just to humiliate me aren’t you?” Daisuke asked, spitting his saliva and toothpaste out in the sink and sighed.

“Not really. It’s your choice to be honest with you. But, if you think she’s not that cute then maybe I should tell her. Considering, she had to see you standing there kissing her. Oh what sweet bliss.” Dark sighed.

“WHAT?!” Daisuke almost choking, grown wide eyes at the mirror in front of his, noticing Dark’s reflection looking back at him.

“Listen, I don’t think she saw us. I think she was in to much of a daze than anything. I mean she didn’t know what was going on. She probably just thinks it’s all a dream.” Dark smirked. “To bad your not in love with her.”

With a groan Daisuke turned the bathroom light off and slowly walked into his bedroom. Plopping down on his bed, feet out from under him his eyelids slowly gloomed down.

OoO

Splashing water on her face Riku lifted her head from the sink and looked into her own oval shaped mirror, It had to be a dream. It couldn’t have been real. I thought I was kissing the Phantom Dark and he then turned into Niwa. But what would Niwa have anything to do with the Phantom Dark? Riku thought placing his fingers at her lips. Her face began to turn a crimson red color as she shook the thought away. Oh just stop it already! Niwa wasn’t here, neither was the Phantom Dark! I was just dreaming. Yes, dreaming! Riku thought splashing her face again with the cold water.

“Riku, are you done yet?” Risa, her younger sister asked, entering the bathroom with a towel in her arms and a robe covering her naked body underneath.

Riku grabbed a towel on the side and wiped her face off and smiled shyly at her sister comment, “Sure. You can have it.” Riku took the towel and placed it in a basket next to the sink. “I-I’ve gotta do some homework that I haven’t finished up with yet.” Riku quickly announced as she steadily walked out of the room, shutting the door behind her. Feeling the blood rush to her face. She couldn’t help but lean her body against the wall and her head looking up at the ceiling.

Risa will kill me if she ever finds out! Riku thought as she walked over to the balcony and starred up at the moon. Sighing heavily leaning her head on her arm watching as a plane passed by loudly.

The Following Day…

“Welcome to 97.6 the frizanda station. Where all your favorite hits are being played…” Daisuke moaned as he rolled on his stomach. It’s to early to get up.

Daisuke, never really was a morning type of guy. It was more of getting up at eleven and going to bed at one in the morning. Now, since he’s got a big secrete, he went to bed at two in the morning!

“Daisuke! Time to get up! Your going to be late for school!” Daisuke mother sung, as she hummed a melody in her voice.

Jolting quickly up, with wide eyes he skimmed his room, in search of something. Running his hands through his hair he smirked, I wonder if today is going to be better than yesterday? He thought while easing his way out of his bed and walking up to his closet. Opening it, noticing his cloths being mixed with something he’d never would be caught in. “Oh man. Why does mom always have to make these stupid cloths for me?” Daisuke groaned as he yanked out a pair of his black pants and his white shirt that has some red on the sleeves and collar. I can’t believe mom’s making me dress like this! Daisuke thought, slipping his pants on over his legs and yanking his shirt up over his head, showing his bare chest.

Grabbing the white shirt, Wiz jumped on top of Daisuke’s head, “Kyuu.” He turned upside down, grabbing Daisuke’s bed-headed hair and smiled.

“Oww! Wiz!” Daisuke exclaimed, picking up the small white creature and looked at him, “You can’t go to school with me Wiz. I can’t afford you being seen okay?”

“Kyuu?” Wiz announced as he jumped out of his masters grasp and quickly went off without Daisuke knowing where he could have went too.

Well at least Wiz is always here for me. Daisuke thought buttoning his shirt, looking into the mirror. No reflection of Dark. I wonder where Dark is? Daisuke hummed. Maybe it was a dream, and I just think that I’m Dark. Yeah, that’s it. Daisuke grinned. Trying to pretend that what happened the other night, really didn’t happen.

Walking down the stairs he smiled big, “Good morning!” He announced to his mother and grandfather as they both arched an eyebrow.

“Well, well, someone’s happy this morning!” Daisuke mother smiled, placing two pieces of buttered toast and a glass of orange juice in front of her son.

Daisuke sat down and eat a part of his toast and gulped a large amount of orange juice. Chewing and talking, Daisuke announced: “Last night I had the weirdest dream. I dreamed, that I was Phantom Dark. Silly huh?”

Daisuke’s grandfather cleared his throat, “Ahem. Daisuke, you are thee Phantom Dark.”

“And last night wasn’t a dream.” His mother added.

Daisuke blinked hesitantly. Not sure what to make of all of this. “Are you telling me, that last night… really…happened?” He asked, feeling his appetite begin to scatter away.

“Yes Daisuke. Last night really happened.” His grandfather announced sipping on a cup of hot old Chinese tea.

Daisuke gulped, pushing his food off to the side, “So I really am Dark then?”

“Oh no honey, your not really Dark and Dark really isn’t you. You two just, have the same D.N.A.” His mother announced with a grin.

How was that even possible? Two people with the same D.N.A? Wouldn’t that make them a twin? But there’s no way Daisuke and Dark are twins. They feed off the same body. Meaning… Daisuke is Dark’s host.

“Are you saying, that I’m only Dark’s host? That he’s using my body to turn into himself?” Daisuke asked squinting his eyes at his mother and darted over at his grandfather.

His mother sighed as she took a seat across from him, “Listen Dark, we don’t know how all of this happened, but you should be happy that you have someone like Dark inside you. Plus, Dark sleeps most of the time. So it’s not like he’s going to really bother you or anything.” His mother exclaimed, taking a bit of her own toast bread, making a sound that announced that she was satisfied with what she’s eating.

Sighing Daisuke quickly gotten to his feet, “So, if Dark’s me and I’m Dark, then that means we have to share everything together?”

“True my dear boy. But, what you both do not share is the same love. You see, Dark yearns for someone other than you do. Making you two completely different.” His grandfather raised a finger, “Then again, if Dark’s feelings towards the same person as you and you actually be able to confront the one you love telling them that you are Dark, it is only bound to see if the person really loves you.” His grandfather slightly grinned.

“So your saying that you and Dark loved grandma?” Daisuke’s eyes twinkled.

“Yup.” Daisuke’s grandfather nodded.

“Mommy!” Anna cried as she tugged on her mother’s sleeve. “Don’t stop there. It’s getting good. You don’t know how much I really, really love this story!”

Her mother smiled down at her daughter as the girl’s eyes turned weak, but she still yearns with curiosity and enjoyment. Running her finger tips through her daughters hair, she nodded, “Okay, I will continue.” She exclaimed continuing her story…

Walking down the hall way of their school, Riku sighed, I didn’t sleep at all last night. Risa thought as her auburn eyes darted up to see students swarming an area around the entrance of the gym.

“A dance!” One exclaimed.

“They say this dance is where they pick out their snowball prince and princess.” Another one announced as they all began to talk and whispered. Some wanting to be it while other’s smirked.

“The bad thing of that is the teachers get to pick.” Risa said walking up behind her older sister and sighed.

Riku folded her arms in front of her chest, “Well I think it’s stupid to me.” She brushed a small strand of her hair away from her face and turned her back to the group. “Plus, it only shows you that whoever is picked for it, is only a teachers pet.”

“Like you.” Risa murmured under her breath walking with her sister.

“What was that?!” Riku shot her sister a dirty look.

With a quick grin Risa said: “Oh nothing!” She quickly skipped in the hallway towards her locker and opened it.

“Oh what’s this?” Risa bent down and grabbed a note that had fallen out of her locker, To Risa. It read on the front of it.

Opening it up Risa’s eyes skimmed the letter:

Risa,

Meet me after school at the old Sakura tree.

No name was left behind.

“What does it say?” Riku asked peering over her sister shoulder.

“Oh nothing.” Risa said shoving the note in her backpack and smiled.

Authors note: Bad spot to be stopping at I know I know, and I wanted to make this chapter longer than I have it already! (Cries) I was wanting to at least make it to the 20 page mark. But as you can see… that didn’t happen. Instead I make it to the… twelve page mark. And well, to me that’s not good enough. Okay, so I added a new twist at the end of this. And if your wondering, (Which you probably are) who’s the secrete letter from? Well tough! Your just going to have to wait until the next chapter.
