~~SATURDAY-SUNDAY—THE CARNIVAL~~
“So, you're honestly going to fight that Night-Creep?”
“Yup!” Alissa exclaimed as she swung her feet.
“Aren't you scared?” Summer questioned further. “A little…” Alissa answered truthfully. “But I know Phantom won't let me down!” Just at saying that name, she sighed heavily and fell back onto the bed. Summer laughed gently, but then she looked away, looking uncertain. “What's up, Sum-Sum?” Alissa asked.
“Ali…please don't yell at me for this, but…I think those two are right; I think Danny Phantom is…Danny Fenton.”
Alissa's jaw dropped. “You're…you're believing them?”
“Listen, listen! I'm not taking their side or anything, it's just…remember the night he took us in from the rain? And then he just totally disappeared? Look, I think he went off to go fight Zero, and his sister knows that he's half-ghost so she tried to stall us.”
Alissa was frozen. She looked down, not knowing how to answer. He couldn't be…could he? “I'm going to go clear my head.” She jumped onto the window. “Ali!” Summer cried, but Alissa had already become Lisa Phantasm again and she flew into the air.
She flew all around, looking down as she did. She gasped when she saw Team Phantom walking across. Sam still looked pretty angry. Danny looked upset yet confused. “Lisa…” He touched his lips. He could still feel her cold kiss on his lips. Somehow it felt good. “Where are you?”
“It's not her fault. Sam scared her away!” Tucker said.
“I didn't! She was hardly fazed by me!” Sam yelled as she threw her arms up in frustration.
“Hey, sorry about the subject change, but have any of you seen Ali or Summer?” Danny asked.
Lisa tried to hear what they were saying, but couldn't. She blinked though; those two were friends with BOTH Danny Fenton and Danny Phantom? She landed, hiding behind a wall, she transformed back into Alissa. “Hey, peeps!”
“Oh, hi!” Danny said and ran over to Alissa. They did a high-five and turned back to the other two. “What's wrong with you, Sam? You look like you're heart just got broken and that replaced with pure rage!” Tucker looked up innocently. “Funny you should put it like that…” Sam elbowed him.
Danny giggled and then turned back to Alissa. “Hey, I wanted to ask you--”
He was interrupted by Summer suddenly running up. “Ali…*pant…pant…* I found you…*pant…* h--hold on, let me catch my breath…” Tucker immediately ran up to her. “It's okay, I got you!” As she lifted her head to him their eyes met. There was a momentary silence before Tucker then had to pull a move and wrapped his arms around her and raised his eyebrows a few times with a smile. Summer widened her eyes, glared icily, and smacked him off of her.
“You okay, Summer?” Sam asked and she walked over to her. “Y--yeah, Alissa is just a little fast for me!”
“Anyway,” Danny started again. “I wanted to ask you both something…there's a carnival coming here tomorrow and I just wondered…if you'd like to come with us!” Danny offered kindly. Alissa made a small sound of surprise and excitement in her throat and she placed her hand on her cheek. “Really?” She peeped. She turned to Summer. “Do you wanna come?” Summer was about to ask her before Tucker came back up, held her arm and said, “Actually, Danny, I hope you don't mind, but I kind of wanted to escort Summer there. Alone…” Alissa bit her lip. Summer looked at him and pulled her arm away from his grasp. “I'll think about it.” She said coldly. “Ali, you can go, just…” She looked at Danny, then back at her. “Take care of yourself.” She said softly. With that, she turned away and walked away. She gave a final look toward Tucker, but she shook her head, sighed, and continued walking away.
“Weird…” Alissa muttered as she watched Summer leave. She turned back to Danny. “But I'd love to come! I just need some sleep first…” She yawned. “See ya!” She said as she waved and was taking her leave as well. She stopped in front of Tucker. “Don't be discouraged. Summer…she's…she put up a barrier a long time ago…I'd rather not explain why. Ask her.” She left.
Tucker looked down, a little sad. Danny gave him a slap on the back. “C'mon! It'll be alright! I'm sure she'll come around!”
~
So, then, a little later into the night, Summer opened the door to her house, peeking out into the night. She saw Tucker walking along, hands shoved in pockets and looking down. Summer gave him a sad look. She shook her head and sighed, not believing what she was about to do. “Tucker, wait up!” She called and ran out the door. Tucker picked up his head and turned, widening his eyes when he saw Summer running toward him.
She stopped in front of him. “Tucker…” Their eyes met again and she sighed. “Are you…still free Carnival Night?”
Tucker's jaw fell. “Are…are you serious?” He was about to say something else with such a huge smile, but Summer held up a finger. “Don't go all Techno Geek on me, though. I am NOT going to share ring tones with you, and I don't give out my number on first…first…dates…” She seemed unsure on saying the word, but Tucker was ecstatic, even if there were rules. She crossed her arms. “So…when are you gonna pick me up?”
Tucker had to get his voice back for a second, but he took her hands in her own. “You won't regret a thing, Summer! I will make this the best night of your young life!” He then pulled her in for a major hug.
“I can hardly wait…” She muttered as oxygen slowly became an issue.
~*SUNDAY NIGHT*~
“Well, I'm ready!” Alissa said as she brushed her hair back. She had a dark red bag slung over her shoulder, where she kept her sketchbook and other things she might need. She cleared her throat and gently knocked on the door of Fenton-Works. “Hello? Danny?” The door swung open and it revealed Maddie. “Oh! You must be Ms. Baker! Danny told us all about you! Kids! Alissa's here!” Danny and Sam immediately ran down the steps and greeted Alissa. She smiled brightly, but inside, she was puzzled; what was this warmth in her heart?
“Uh…where's Tucker?” She asked, noticing a missing teammate. “Summer didn't tell you? They're going together…!” Danny clutched his heart and batted his eyes. “You're kidding! Tucker actually wore her down?!” Alissa started laughing. “Ooh, this is gonna be a fun night indeed…”
“Well, c'mon!” Sam said as she opened the door. “I'm not gonna miss this for the world!”
As they left, Jack just had to have a final word, causing Danny to slap his head and Alissa to giggle:
“Call me if you see a ghost!”
~
“Cotton candy?” Tucker asked as he handed the cone to Summer, trying to sound suave. Summer shrugged and took it. As she bit at it she noticed the rest of the group coming and waved to them.
The carnival was pretty packed. If there weren't people, there were attractions. If there weren't attractions, there were food stands. Alissa ran up to Summer and hugged her. “You're seriously out with Tucker??” Alissa had to ask. Summer gave her a look; Alissa knew that look; that look told her to get away or she'd get chopped into little pieces. She backed away. “AAAAAAAAAANYWAAAAAAAAAAYY…what do you guys wanna do first?”
So they did everything. They rode roller-costars, ate, played games for ridiculous yet adorable stuffed prizes, snacked, rode the roller-costars again…did I mention they munched?
Anyway, Alissa was sitting down at a random bench, a little dizzy from all of this. I'm still surprised I can still eat…being a Drifter and all…this is so much fun! I haven't had this much fun since…since…well, the Nightshade incident…Just thinking of his name caused Alissa's cold body to shiver. She held her arms and looked off. She thought about the ghost boy. The thought of fighting Nightshade alongside him sent chills up her spine. Tonight…tonight, we're gonna…
“Ali…please don't yell at me for this, but…I think those two are right; I think Danny Phantom is…Danny Fenton...
“Listen, listen! I'm not taking their side or anything, it's just…remember the night he took us in from the rain? And then he just totally disappeared? Look, I think he went off to go fight Zero, and his sister knows that he's half-ghost so she tried to stall us.”
Summer's words returned to her head. She held herself tighter. Of all the people Phantom could be…it was just impossible for it to be…
She shook her head. C'mon! That's just Summer being Summer! Let's go! We have more games to play! She convinced herself. She ran over to another mini game. In this one, you had to aim a water pistol into a clown's mouth until the balloon over it burst. “DARNIT!!” She cried for the 3rd time.
“Can't aim right?” Danny asked as he came over to her. Alissa whimpered and shook her head. “Here, let me help…” He then placed his hands over hers, which were holding onto the gun. Her cheeks flared. “Uh…” She squeaked. He gently moved her hands upward, aiming the gun. “Try now.” She pulled the trigger, and water squirted out…right into the clown's mouth!
After the balloon broke open, Alissa choose a stuffed seahorse as her prize. She squeezed it so hard, Danny couldn't help but chuckle. Alissa looked back at him. She was getting the same feeling from him she got from the ghost boy. Why? [1] She looked down. “Danny?” His head picked up and looked at her. “C--could I please see you? Privately? Over there?” She pointed to a grove of trees just outside the fair. “Uh, sure. What's wrong?” He asked worriedly. She took a gentle hold of his hand. “Just please follow me.” She pulled him into the small woods.
Meanwhile, the remaining three had sat down as well to calm down a little. Summer and Sam were sitting on a bench (the kind that has two rows of seating around it? You know, the ones they have at school at lunchtime?) wondering what to do next.
“Uh, Summer?” Tucker's voice came. The said girl turned to ask Tucker what was up and he handed her a packet of mozzarella sticks. “You like `em, right?” Summer stared at them, then him. She gave a surprising sweet smile and took them from him. “Yeah…you remembered…thanks.” She tried to find right words.
“Uh, guys?” Sam broke the “moment.” “Anybody seen Danny and Alissa?”
~
Alissa had lead Danny not too far from the carnival. She had released his hands but kept walking just a little further, until they were a few feet away from each other. “Danny…” She started. “I know this might be a little awkward that I'm gonna ask you something like this, but I doubt Summer would know, I doubt Sam would care, and you're the only person left `cause I also doubt Tucker could help me…” Danny scratched his head but nodded her head, telling her to go on. “Danny…have you ever been…” She held her seahorse tighter before she turned her head back to him. “…In love?”
“Huh?” The question hit Danny off guard. “W--well…” He looked down, blushing a little. “Yeah, actually, but…it didn't exactly work out.” [2]
“Really…” Alissa murmured, giving kind of a faraway look toward him. “Why? Are you in love?” Danny counter-asked. Alissa blinked then held her arms behind her back, looking down. “Well, I thought I was…heck, I even kissed him…but, now my heart's kind of confusing me, like it's after somebody else…” She looked sad. Danny felt a little uncomfortable, but he sighed and walked to her, placing his hand on her shoulder.
“Well, I may not be that much of a romance expert, I barely even know how to kiss, but…but I do know that heart's a very weird piece of work. You like someone, then you like another, then you hate both of them and go after somebody else. But somewhere in that easily manipulated organ, is what you really want, or who you're really after. That's what you have to find first.” He blinked. Did that all come from me?! Alissa sniffled a little and looked up at him with watering eyes. “Wow…I didn't expect all that to come from a male…no offense.”
“None taken.”
“Well…I…I have been doing a lot of thinking.” She seemed to move closer to him. “As much as I do love him, I don't really think it could work. I mean, he's…he's…well, let's just say he's rather off from the human race.” Danny giggled at that, not knowing just how much Alissa meant by that. “So, I'm thinking about forgetting about him, mostly because I just realized that the one I really like is…is…”
Silence.
“…Oh, the heck with it!” She threw her stuffed toy to the ground, wrapped her arms around Danny's neck and pressed her lips against his. Startled, he stumbled backward, his back hitting a tree. If his head could make a complete thought, it would have been, Not again!
Alissa continued to kiss him, but then she slowly opened her eyes halfway, before blinking and raising them as high as they could go. She pulled herself away from Danny, allowing him to catch his breath and try to figure out what happened. “Danny, I…I…I'm so sorry…I had no right to…to…” She let out a sob and ran off. “A--Ali!” He cried, reaching out a hand.
At that moment, Tucker, Sam and Summer came running up, Sam the first to help Danny up. “What happened?!” She cried. Summer picked up the seahorse. “Where's Ali?!” She did a cry of her own. “S--she went that way…” Danny pointed at her retreating direction. “What happened, dude?” Tucker asked. “She…” Before he could answer, Danny snapped his eyes open wider, realizing something. He straightened up on his own and felt his lips. Alissa's kiss was just as cold as…
“…No way…” He then started to sprint after Alissa. Yelling out his name, the others followed. All four of them then stopped and gasped when they heard a scream.
~
Alissa still ran until she came to a grassy hill. She collapsed on it. “Why did I do that…” She whined. She wondered why she didn't feel this horrible when she did it to Danny Phantom. Maybe because she truly loved Danny Fenton, and was afraid of how he would see her now?
She sighed heavily. She realized she still had her bag. She pulled it off, reached into it, and pulled out her sketchbook. She flipped through it, and came across the picture of Danny she drew yesterday, the one that looked like him daydreaming. She closed it, then held it as she started to cry.
“Aww, don't cry, little girl…” Alissa gasped and looked up, seeing Zero and Sapphire above her. “Yeah…making you cry is our job!” Zero said as he clenched his fist, forming ectoplasmic energy blasts around them.
Alissa screamed. (Yeah, the scream from above!) But then she jumped back and struck a pose as she then became Lisa Phantasm, her bag still on her shoulder.
~
“I'm going ghost!” Danny cried. After doing so, he then flew toward the hill, seeing the three fight. “Lisa!” She gasped and turned. “Phantom?” But since she now had her back to the enemies, they blasted her in the back. Screaming, she flew forward and fell into Danny's arms. “In the back, people?” Danny asked in disbelief. He got Lisa safely to the ground and noticed that she had a bag. “Uh…” Danny pointed to it. “U--um…” Lisa started to panic. But before she could answer, she saw Zero flying toward them. With a cry, she swung her bag really hard, which hit him and sent him flying into Sapphire. Lisa looked at her bag. “…Cool!”
So, the four of them got into a all out fight. “What is up with you?!” Danny asked as he and Zero had locked fists with each other. [3] “Tonight is the night! Nightshade has sent us to collect you!”
“Your power will plunge the Earth into eternal night, and we will finally be free!” Sapphire finished as she battled Lisa. “NO! I won't let you!” Lisa screamed. She blasted her as hard as she could, not noticing that her sketchbook had fallen out of her bag.
However, Danny did.
He gasped and floated down. Zero and Sapphire had stopped attacking. Lisa floated down next to him, biting her lip as he picked up the book. He flipped through it, finding many familiar pieces of art, and the drawing of him as Danny Fenton daydreaming. He closed it and turned back to Lisa. He placed his feet on the ground, Lisa doing the same. He dropped the book and held Lisa's face in his hands and stared into her eyes, as if searching for something.
“…Ali?”
Lisa gasped. She backed up a little and stared back at him. “H--how did you…?” Danny gently flung his arms from his sides. “Ali…it's me…!” Saying so, he transformed back into Danny Fenton.
Everything in Lisa's mind snapped and fell apart. Summer was right…he…he was…overwhelmed, Lisa fell to her knees, Danny kneeling beside her. “It was you…t--the whole time…”They looked at each other again. “I don't believe it…it was you the whole time!” Danny exclaimed. “It's…it's actually kind of funny now…” Lisa giggled.
“Are you two done?” Zero asked before he charged at them again. Danny and Lisa gave them a lowered-eyelids look before they both zapped them, both Zero and Sapphire hurtled away.
Danny and Lisa took each other's hands and came back up. Lisa hugged him tightly. “I still can't believe it!”
“Nether can I…but, hold on, I'm confused.” Lisa backed up and looked him straight into his clear blue eyes. “…What?”
“First you kiss Danny Phantom, then you claim you love me and kiss me! If I wasn't the same person, who would've you picked?” Danny asked. Lisa couldn't help but giggle gently; the love rectangle was pretty awkward.
“Why do you think I kissed you both? I didn't know, either. I held feelings for both of you, but since I didn't know you were the same person, it confused me…” She turned back to him. “Summer told me it was you, but I refused to believe it…” She walked back to him. “But…it's really y--”
“Ali.” Danny said firmly. He took hold of her hands. “There's…there's something I need to talk to you about.” Lisa was a little startled, but she nodded. “Yeah?”
“I…” Then, he got blasted in the back! “DANNY!” She quickly knelt down to his aid, and looked up, seeing Zero, Sapphire, and Nightshade. She gulped. Danny struggled to get up and transformed back into his ghost half. “So, you two finally know each other's identities…”
“Guys!” The two turned to see the rest of their friends coming up behind them. “Lisa?!” They cried, except for Summer. Before Lisa could answer, Nightshade boomed her name. She glared back up. “WHAT?!” Both Zero and Sapphire gasped at the coldness of her voice. Lisa stood in front of Danny and flung out her arms. “I'm quite aware that tonight is the night that the planets align, and Danny's life must be consumed, but you touch him, and I will break you like a twig!” Nightshade glared at her, but then started laughing. “If you had let me finish, I'm sure you'd take back everything you just said.”
He stuck his arms out, a dark light forming around them. “I picked up a little something at the hospital last night…” Suddenly, a figure appeared and fell into his open arms. Everybody gasped.
Lisa's voice quivered. “My…my body…”
It was true. Nightshade was holding the empty shell of a 13-year-old girl. Her eyes were closed and body was huddled together so peacefully, you would've easily mistaken her for simply sleeping.
“Lisa, you're Alissa?!” Tucker and Sam cried in disbelief.
“Little one, you do realize that now that your body is away from the life support machines…”
Almost on cue, Lisa took a sharp intake of breath and started to tremble around until she fell to her knees, holding her stomach. “ALI?!” Danny cried.
“…Your spirit can no longer be left alive from your still living body.” Nightshade finished. Summer gasped and covered her mouth. “You mean if her body dies…her spirit will actually become a ghost?!” Everybody gasped. Lisa kept on jerking around. “Oww…” Nightshade then gently flung her body in the air and a green energy aura surrounded her body, and Lisa got her strength back. As she slowly got up, Nightshade went on. “I can take this aura away unless you surrender the Ghost Boy…NOW!!” He roared.
“Master…Master, I think you're going a bit too far…” Sapphire quietly said. “Don't kill her!” Nightshade stared at her. “I can do whatever I please with her as long as she wears my necklace!” He answered. Zero and Sapphire looked at each other. Something wasn't right…
“You're not taking him, Nightlight!” Sam cried. Tucker and Summer fought back with banter of their own. Lisa kept her ground firm, as well as Danny. Nightshade shook his head while doing the “Tsk Tsk Tsk” sound. “Foolish girl…” He snapped his fingers and the aura around Alissa's body became dimmer.
Lisa grabbed herself again and started moaning in pain. She even started crying. Danny could see the fear and pain in her eyes and glared up at Nightshade. “STOP!!” He cried. “If…if I go quietly…will you…will you free all of your captives?” He asked. “Danny, no…” Lisa whined in her pathetic state. Nightshade smirked. “That was what I proposed before we even met, Ghost Boy…”
“Fine.” He flew up toward him. “Then…then I give up.”
“DANNY!!” Everybody shouted. Lisa struggled to get up. “N--n--no!” She flew up with all her might and grabbed him. “Don't!” Danny turned back to her and held her. Then he whispered softly to her, “I made a promise. We're gonna fight him together. But right now…right now, I'm gonna keep you safe.”
“But…but…”
“He y, have a little faith in the guy who amazes you, huh?” [4]
Lisa could say no more and pulled away from him, tears forming. He turned back to Nightshade and said he was ready. “Weaken him.” Nightshade ordered his two followers. Lisa gasped; he must be making sure that Danny wouldn't trick him! Both Zero and Sapphire zapped Danny, causing him to scream, a scream that would echo again and again in Lisa's heart, breaking it a million times.
Danny hung in the air, unconscious. “ALISSA! DO SOMETHING!!” The guys cried. Lisa just turned away, crying; even if she could do something, Danny wouldn't let her. Nightshade, smirking, brought a choker to his hands and then placed it around Danny. He then started laughing. “He's mine at last…” Lisa let out the most heart-wrenching sob ever to escape the lips of a human, ghost, or drifter.
“Master…does this mean we are free now?” Sapphire asked. “Yes!” Zero exclaimed. “Yes, Master! You must keep your promise!” Nightshade smiled and snapped his fingers.
“…Idiots.”
The necklaces around Zero and Sapphire zapped them immensely. “You should've listened to little Lisa. She was right.”
“B--B--B--BUT WHY?!” They shrieked. Nightshade laughed. “Again, I say idiots! Once this world falls into eternal night, both worlds will be mine for the taking! Everybody will already be my slaves! Letting you go free would be ridiculous!” Zero and Sapphire tried to attack him, but they ended up fainting. Lisa gasped, but then she attacked Nightshade. “You…you monster!” But he zapped her as well, causing there to be four unconscious beings around him. He laughed and pointed to the moon. “You see that?” He asked the other kids. “Get used to it, for it will be up forever!” He then laughed maniacally again before he disappeared, taking the ghostly kids with him.
“DANNY!!” Sam cried. “ALI!!” Summer cried as well. “No…where did they go…” Summer whimpered. “Uh, guys?” Tucker asked. The two girls turned their tear-streaked faces toward him and gasped when he revealed the Fenton Find-It. “He was so into his evil laughter, he didn't notice me fling the pin on him!”

[1]No, Alissa is not that dense, she just refuses to believe they're the same person!
[2]You decide if he's talking about either Paulina or Valerie.
[3]Remember FtF, where Danny and Ember first fight on the roof? How they're battling with their hands is the same.
[4]Refer to the previous chapter, where Lisa admits that Danny (Phantom) amazes her.
(Rubs hands) Oww...I wrote all that in a hurry...
Anyway, I'm uploading the next chapter as we speak!
Seeya!
“Yup!” Alissa exclaimed as she swung her feet.
