Prologue : When the Digidestined kids saved the Digital World for the second time, they thought the threat was all over and that they could live a normal life again, without the Digital Monsters. True enough, they were wrong.

Twenty three years later, the former Digidestined kids are all grown up and living peacefully. But unknown to them, evil dwells in the very shadows of the Digital World. Soon, the Digital World will be in peril once again, but are the new chosen Digidestined kids up to the challenge?

Chapter 1 - The new beginning

*Yagami Residence, master bedroom*

"Tai, hurry up! We're gonna be late already!" Sora savagely yelled towards the bathroom door, as her hands busied themselves fussing about her youngest son's hair.

A second later, Tai burst out the bathroom door fully dressed in his black tuxedo. He looked like he just had the time of his life, with a crazy grin on his face. But he frowned at the look his wife gave him. "If only you had remembered to change the time on that damn old grandfather clock, we wouldn't have thought it's still early!" he grumbled under his breath.

Sora looked up from her son, furious of the fact that Tai was accusing her and growled irritably, ignoring his earlier statement. "And I suppose you're going to meet them looking like that?" she asked coldly, pointing at the discarded comb dangling in his wild hair.

"Whoops! Sorry, forgot about it."

"You're hopeless, Taichi. Really!" Sora commented as she watched Tai fidgeted and clumsily drag the comb through his short, messy brown hair. "And you're the one who claims you're only `thirty seven years old and still very young'. I didn't think someone *young* could forget about something he left hanging in his hair," she added mockingly, casting a very sly smirk in his direction.

Pretending he didn't hear Sora say that, Tai brushed past her and kneeled in front of his son. The young boy was dressed in a white suit with a black tie. He had amazingly beautiful scarlet-yellow eyes; his mother's.

The young boy just remained still as his father straightened his tie. His spiky hair was gelled thickly, as the result of his elder brother's doings. "There you go. Off you go now, and make sure your brother's ready," Tai said to his youngest son and with a short nod, the boy left the room.

Sora leaned against the wall watched her husband with a hint of amusement. His earlier actions were quite… unlike him. Tai got up to his feet and noticed her watching him. He smirked inwardly and acted innocent as ever. He raised an eye-brow. "What?" he asked casually.

"I just never knew you could act so fatherly."

"…"

No respond came from Tai. Not a single sound.

"Tai!"

Still, no sound came from him. She eyed him curiously, suspecting he fell asleep (while he was standing). He simply stood where he was, looking very much like a bronze statue clad in a black tuxedo, staring at her.

"Taichi, I-"

"Come on, let's go,” he suddenly said. Before Sora could say anything to protest, Tai already disappeared out the door. She opened her mouth in an attempt to say something but instead cursed aloud before she followed him.

*Ichijouji Residence, living hall*

Ken grinned broadly at Davis, pulling his close friend into a tight hug, which Davis returned full force, nearly crushing Ken under the pressure. This always happen during their reunion parties.

After they parted, Yolei spotted them and came over, smirking at the two spiky haired men and said, "Aah, I believe I'm seeing true `male bonding' here." Davis started choking on his glass of wine. She pouted mockingly. "Did you miss my husband that much, Davis?" she inquired in a whining tone.

Davis blushed deeply and shook his head viciously. Ken could only laugh at his friend's reaction, forgetting the fact that his wife was mocking him as well. Davis quickly regained his posture and objected.

"It was just a hug!" he demurred.

"A hug? More like an embrace, you mean?" she teased.

Davis opened his mouth but no words came out. It felt as if someone silenced his voice box. Yolei just chuckled heartily and then left the two staring after her as she went to greet the Yagami's who had just arrived. Davis could only gape wordlessly, his face still burning red.

Davis stopped blushing, pretending as if nothing had happened in the brief minute and pointed over Ken's shoulder. "Here comes Tai and Sora," he said and Ken turned around and saw the two coming towards them, with their two sons following closely behind.

"Davis, Ken, it's been a long time," Tai said cheerfully as he shook hands with each of them. Sora smiled warmly, greeted them and excused herself. Then she left to join T.K and Kari talking with Matt at the far end corner of the room. The two boys went off as well to where the other kids were playing.

"Your older son sure looks like you. Just give him the goggles and even Gennai won't be able to tell the difference," Davis said with a chuckle and Ken nodded as well in agreement.

Tai smiled in the direction of his sons. They were playing with the other Digidestined's kids, rolling about the floor in an endless heap. "Sora says Shinji even acts like I do."

Ken glanced over to the frenzied children running amuck about in the corner. "Shinji?" he asked in a slightly confused tone.

"Yeah, that's my eldest son. The other's Tsuzuki."

Davis surveyed Tsuzuki and noticed that the younger Yagami didn't really resemble his father. This kid, he noticed, was also playing, but was quite shy and quiet. Then he noticed something odd. Shinji had orange streaks at the tip of his spiky bangs. "Tsuzuki looks like a blend of you and Sora. But why does Shinji have a mixture of brown and orange hair?"

Tai gave a tragic sigh, looking as if it was such a bad thing and shook his head in Davis' direction. "Dunno. Looks odd on him. But what do you expect me to do? Dye his hair? Sora will skin me alive."

Ken chuckled and took a glass of wine and offered it to the taller brown haired man. "Skin you? I'd like to see that." Truthfully, he wouldn't have been surprised if Sora did do so.

Tai blushed deeply and took the glass from Ken. "Now that's just plain cruel. What if Yolei threatened you the same?"

Ken seemed a little taken aback. Never had he considered such a thing. All these years being married to Yolei still hasn't proved how fierce she can be as the others say. Maybe because he never crosses the line of her patience level. Davis laughed heartily. "Poor Ken. Thank gosh Sakura's not like that."

"You called, Davis?" a voice came from behind him, shocking Davis completely till he nearly leaped into Ken's arms. Davis swiftly turned around and he was greeted with a familiar face. A VERY familiar face. One he has seen in many situations alike.

"Sakura! How many times must I tell you?!" Davis growled in frustration as he calmed himself down, grateful that his heart didn't burst out of his chest. He could almost imagine it happening.

The long, dark brown haired lady brought a finger to her chin and pulled her face into a thinking expression. "Hm… let me see, another few hundred times might imprint it in my memory."

The three men sweat-dropped, especially Davis. Suddenly, Davis felt a pair of hands wrap around his waist as Sakura embraced him from behind. His face burned red in embarrassment for the second time that day, and Tai and Ken's snickering weren't helping at all, but instead it made him blush even more.

Of course, that wasn't the end of his embarrassing torture. Many of the other Digidestined also noticed the two embracing couple. Not to mention, their kids as well. But the worse was when Yolei passed by and her elbow nudged him as she said with a smirk, "You don't need to pursue after my husband anymore."

Davis' whole body froze and got even redder till his face looked like someone pressed an iron on it. Sakura rested her head on his right shoulder and looked at his face. "You're not gay, are you, Daike?"

Tai and Ken exchanges looks and burst out laughing. Tai, clutching his stomach, only managed to choke, "Daike?!" before he could say no more because he and Ken continued laughing.

For a moment there, Davis would have preferred to be skinned than embarrassed this way. Then he felt the hands around his waist leave. Sakura smiled a satisfied grin at him and left. After all that had happened, he just couldn't think of what to say. Simply said, he was speechless.

"Ahem."

Everyone turned in the direction of the voice. Izzy was standing up, with his laptop in his hands, facing the others with a silly grin on his intelligent face.

"Umm… I just wanted to explain the reason of making you take the trouble to bring your Digivices," the lecturer explained, while his fingers typed away at the keyboard. The screen on his laptop then suddenly emitted a ray of light, which focused in the center of the room. Now, even the children had stopped playing to witness this extraordinary event.

Izzy smiled widely. "You all still remember Gennai, don't you?," he asked everyone, mainly the Digidestined, and sure enough, the ray of light took the form of Gennai.

Gennai smiled at his audiences in the room. "Wow. I never knew I was so famous,” he said in a cheerful voice, earning him comments from all the Digidestined. Many snickered and snorted at his statement. Then out of the sudden, his face became serious. "I have come forth to inform thou of the great evil slowly, but surely brewing in the depths of the Digital World."

The Digidestined fell silent, not believing their ears. But Gennai continued talking, not taking note of the reaction at all. He smiled again and his form started to fade into the empty air.

"Let the new generation begin."

As soon as the words escaped his mouth, bright coloured rays of light shone about the room, from the Digidestined's Digivices. After the light faded, Izzy`s face turned grave as he realized something; the Digiport had been opened again, and that part of the children whom were playing in the corner weren't there, except for the younger ones.
