A New Generation
Disclaimer: I do NOT own Digimon! Some very fortunate person somewhere out there does! But the extra characters are mine! Touch them and you shall face my wrath!
Note: This takes part after 02, before the 25 years later, in which the ending of 02 didn't happen. This story was done by me and a friend of mine. It took lots of serious planning for the new characters [there's so many of them…] Thanks Mag… Those torturous days we spent figuring out the names of the characters will always be in my memory. ^-^
Another important note. If you notice, the characters seem a little mature for their age, don't you think? Just leave it like that… time will fly very fast in this fic…
Prologue : When the Digidestined kids saved the Digital World for the second time, they thought the threat was all over and that they could live a normal life again, without the Digital Monsters. True enough, they were wrong.
Twenty three years later, the former Digidestined kids are all grown up and living peacefully. But unknown to them, evil dwells in the very shadows of the Digital World. Soon, the Digital World will be in peril once again, but are the new chosen Digidestined kids up to the challenge?
Characters: From the character's surname, I'm sure you can work out for yourself who's child is who's. Whenever a new character makes an appearance, I'll post his/her profile up in the next chapter.

Chapter 4 - Maelstrom High…?
*earlier that day, Yagami's Residence, front porch*
Tai worriedly checked the time on his watch as he casually dumped his briefcase into the back seat of his car. He leaned against the car as he waited patiently for his sons to be ready. Shinji and Tsuzuki were running late for school and Tai refused to let them walk as usual, having told them he would send them on his way to work. Come to think of it, Tai himself would be late if he doesn't leave soon to avoid traffic.
Both of the young Kamiyas, and the remaining of the former Digidestined's children attend the same school; Maelstrom Academy.
“Shinji! Hurry up!” Tai yelled as he saw his youngest son appearing out of the door, his black school shoes in his hands.
The spiky haired boy wore a white sleeveless collared shirt, a blue necktie to symbolize he's a librarian, a pair of black long pants that reached down to his ankles, over the white socks he wore, and a white belt.
“I'm almost done!” Tai heard his eldest son yell from inside the kitchen, followed by the sound of him running.
When Shinji finally appeared, Tai was already in the driver's seat, waiting for the boy to get in. Tsuzuki could be seen in the back seat wearing his shoes and straightening his tie. Shinji wore the same sleeveless shirt as Tsuzuki, a red necktie to symbolize he's a prefect, a name tag clipped onto his necktie which showed he's the president of the Jungle Exploration Club, and the Soccer Club. He wore identical pants, belt socks and shoes as his younger sibling.
People say Shinji looks and acts like his father… but Tai was not exactly fit to be a prefect, and Shinji is… They don't seem so similar now, do they?
As soon as Shinji closed the car door behind him, Tai immediately left the house, with about ten minutes left to spare.
“We're going to the Digital World again tonight, right?” Shinji leaned forward from the back seat to look at his father and asked.
Tai gave a nod as he continued driving, being extra careful to not get distracted. “Luckily its Saturday tomorrow,” he said, his eyes watching the road. “I really don't think you should be late for school again.”
With a minute left to make it in time to class, Shinji and Tsuzuki hopped out of the car, said goodbye to Tai and ran off to class, separating at some point to go their different ways.
Shinji had miraculously managed to get to class before the teacher did, mainly by using the back door to avoid being caught late. The Kamiya took a deep breath and acted normal as he made his way to his seat, finally dropping his bag on his desk, slightly startling the boy who sat beside him.
“Shinji! How many times have I warned you not to drop those bombshells of yours on the table?!” the short haired boy hissed irritably.
At the mention of `bombshells', the young soccer player laughed heartily and took his seat, purposely ignoring what the boy beside him said “It's just my bag, Kido. Not some kind of violent bomb to blow you up,” Shinji said, using his finger to wipe an imaginary tear from his eyes.
Mitsuru glared at the prefect sitting beside him and readjusted his glasses. He sighed and leaned back into his chair, taking in the comfort it provided to his lack-of-sleep body. The elder Kido twin had been sleeping late lately due to his visits to the Digital World. Shinji was looking pretty refreshed though, he noted.
Mitsuru's uniform wasn't much different from Shinji's. The only difference was Mitsuru wearing a blue necktie, and his name tag to tell he's the president of the Astronomy Club and the Divination Society. Like Tsuzuki, he's a librarian.
“Sleep well last night?” Mitsuru asked, turning his head to his right to look at the boy sitting beside him.
Shinji gave an enormous yawn which gave him a few weird and disgusted looks from his fellow classmates. Thank gosh the teacher didn't see him. “You think?” the young Kamiya said, looking at the teacher in front of the class, but not really listening to him.
Mitsuru turned to look at the teacher too and shrugged his shoulders. “You look so freaking refreshed to me, I couldn't tell the difference,” he commented, drawing a small laugh from the boy beside him.
*Maelstrom Academy, main basketball court*
“You were nearly late again?”
Shinji turned his head to his left to look at the girl with long purple hair. He gave a sarcastic laugh and turned his attention back to the people running about the basketball court. “Lucky you it wasn't your shift at that time,” he muttered irritably as if she was accusing him of purposely being late.
Before the girl could reply, Mitsuru joined their conversation, trying to back Shinji up. “It really isn't his fault, Michi. Even I was nearly late. We can't help it, what can we do?”
Michinoku frowned at the two boys who were just slightly older than her. “But it's not good. You know that too,” she argued back.
Shinji gave a desperate sigh. “Of course I know that's not good. I'm already like a walking zombie, having gotten only two hours of sleep last night, and you're actually saying this to me now?”
“Guys, chill down, okay?”
Shinji turned around to see the younger Kido twin standing there, with a towel on her head. “Practice over already?” he asked, and she nodded.
“Yeah, some of the members had a meeting to go to. So what were you guys arguing about?” Masaki asked while pulling the towel off her head, giving her elder brother a suspicious searching look.
Mitsuru held out his sister's bag to her, ignored the look she was giving him and simply answered, “It's about Shinji arriving late this morning.”
“Oh?” she said, a little surprised. “He wasn't the only one late...”
Shinji glared half-heartedly at the Kido twins; one taking her bag from the other which was shrugging off what his sister just said, and muttered under his breath, “I wasn't even late yet…”
*Takaishi Residence, second bedroom*
The room was mainly dark and gloomy, lit by its only source of light; emitted from the computer monitor, which anyways wasn't enough to brighten the whole room. The only sound present was the sound of someone typing on the computer keyboards. The rest of the room was as silent as the grave. It was never really like this before… until only recently when the little Digital machines were brought into the room and into the kid's life who slept in here.
What's that sound? There's someone knocking on the door, saying something… The typing seized and so did the sound, bringing complete silence this time in the very dimly lit room. Who's that irritating person who keeps interrupting? Why can't everyone stop being so nosy? Wonder what happened… things weren't like this before…
“Toshiro, are you there?”
The person sitting in front of the computer quickly dived out of sight as the door opened and the light spilled in, lighting up most of the dark corners. A figure on the bed stirred and sat up.
“Dad? Is it time already?” the young boy asked in a tired voice as he rubbed his eyes.
T.K gave his son a warm smile and flicked on the light switch. “Yeah, we're leaving for Uncle Taichi's house in a few minutes,” he said, then saw the computer monitor and frowned slightly. “Did you sleep without switching off the computer again?” he asked, sitting down by the computer to switch it off.
The young boy blinked his eyes, trying to get used to the bright light. He nodded tiredly and said, “I dunno… maybe I forgot. But if I'm not wrong I did off it.”
While waiting for the computer to turn off, T.K had managed to get his son out of bed and into some clothes fit for traveling. The young Takaishi was then given a hair combing by his father to smoothen out his messy hair which he had inherited from his dad.
After checking everything his son needed was packed, T.K quickly took his son's hand and left the room, switching off the light before closing the door behind him.
Note: I've rewritten the first and second chapter because I found that I wasn't really satisfied with how my style of writing turned out. It will be longer and the language will be a bit different from before. The story line and what happens remain the same.
