Chapter 5

When the small group arrived at the Motimon village, what they found there was not exactly what they were hoping to see. Instead of the small little huts that usually housed the small in training digimon, there were some strange buildings that vaguely resembled the huts in a very dim way.

What seemed like tentacles and eyeballs were cocooned around the huts like strangler figs around a tree. Me-ness couldn't help but slightly smile out of pure sadism when she saw the look of horror that crossed Legend's face.

Me-ness couldn't help but slightly smile out of pure sadism when she saw the look of horror that crossed Legend's face.

Kath made considerable notes. For one thing, the color of the substance had changed from black to a very murky purple, and the whole thing just seemed to have a very gloomy feeling to it. When she looked back at Me-ness, instead of the sadistic smile, the demon seemed very grim. Her eyes were naturally narrowed, but Me-ness seemed to have narrowed them further.

Foxermon collapsed to the ground right next to Legend. His tongue was hanging out of his mouth, and he was panting even though he really wasn't all that exhausted, nor tired. Audramon just shook her head and stared out into yonder, not really wanting to see what the aliens had done to the village.

"…I wonder what happened to the digimon…" Legend thought out loud. She took a deep breath, and blinked, clearing her darkening vision. But she soon found out that her vision wasn't what was darkening, it was the sky. Nightfall was approaching.

"Wow…it really did get dark fast," Foxermon said, looking up towards the crimson sky with all the fascination of a young child watching their first sunset. "What time is it, Kath?"

"Um…" Kath took the moment to take a quick look at her wristwatch. The digital watch told her that it was around six. "Around six really…kind of early…"

"Yes…it is really…" Audramon said, talking for the first time since they were back at the forest clearing. Kath shot a brief glance in her direction, almost if she was confirming her existence.

Legend tilted her head and looked at the goopy stuff that had…so to say, magically changed color.

"Is it just me, or was that stuff black a while ago?" She asked, pushed her bangs out of the way and staring at it, then staring at Kath. She didn't acknowledge Me-ness, nor did she acknowledge the two digimon, in any way.

"Is it just me, or was that stuff black a while ago?"

"Hmmm…yes indeed it was black before…" Kath said, slightly confused but the amused look on her face showed she was just as confused as she was fascinated by the change.

"You know, this stuff just keeps on creeping up on us," Audramon muttered, stepping back from the purple goop.

"Gah…I know…we may as well just start calling it "Creep"" Foxermon snorted, flicking some dirt on the Creep. The Creep made a couple of odd noises, which sounded like air being let out of a balloon slowly (not the fart noise, but a hissing sound, rather odd). Legend's right eyebrow rose to acknowledge she was amused slightly by the noises that the Creep was making.

Me-ness stretched out her remaining wing, then closed it tightly on her back. She couldn't risk loosing her other wing. She was well aware that if she transformed into her humanoid form and back to her demon form, her missing wing would be restored. But the two transformations would delete a large amount of her already low energy level, and she couldn't risk the chance of being caught on low power. Not in this hostile territory at any rate. She looked around, and noticed none of the other four had their attention on her. She stepped back slowly, and disappeared into the darkness and shadows.

"Ok, I begin to wonder," Foxermon said, breaking in the silence, "Do you think we can walk on top of this stuff? Cuz the black goop was like tar, but maybe this stuff is different." Legend was the first to try. She cautiously placed the sneaker on her right foot on the Creep. Nothing odd or out of the ordinary seemed to happen.

She shrugged. What did she have to lose? She stepped onto the Creep with her other foot, and administered her whole weight on it. Her shoes sunk into the Creep about a half an inch, but nothing else. She picked up one of her sneakers and looked at the bottom of the sole. It didn't seem to be melting or anything weird like that.

"I think it's safe to stand on," Legend said, making hand gestures. She looked back, and her jaw dropped as she saw Me-ness had disappeared. "D'oh…um…where's the demon?"
