DIGIMON TAMERS: RECONFIGURED

DISCLAIMER: I still don't own Digimon. I know, I'm shocked too. I tried to sue Toei for the rights to the series, based on the end of 02, but the judge just laughed at me and threw the case out.

Narrator: Ashley had a nightmare about being attacked by Henry in the park, but Impmon calmed her down. Meanwhile, Shadowdevimon was causing a nightmare of his own by destroying a bus full of people. The next morning, Takato woke up to crashing sounds coming from downstairs. He ran down and saw Darkveemon, a viral version of one of my favourite Digimon. Darkveemon left peacefully out the back door, but Shadowdevimon came barging in through the front door. Takato made a quick call to Henry, then tempted Shadowdevimon outside. Sure enough, the others arrived and knocked Shadowdevimon for a loop. Unfortunately, Shadowdevimon then killed Takato's parents. Not only that, but the energy he absorbed from them allowed him to Digivolve to Daemon! Takato was enraged and made the mistake of telling Growlmon to do whatever it took to defeat Daemon. Sure enough, he Digivolved straight to Megidramon! So now there's two evil Megas facing off, and no matter who wins, humanity is the loser!

THEME

"His Own Worst Enemy"

(Megidramon vs. Growmon: Impossible Battle!)

(Daemon and Megidramon are still locked in combat. Megidramon wraps his tail around Daemon and shoots a fireball at him. After the fireball hits, Daemon manages to free his hands)

Daemon: Sacrificial Rite!

(Daemon stabs Megidramon in the tail. Megidramon responds by swiping at Daemon with a claw)

Takato: I can't believe it. I did it again.

Jeri: Don't worry, Takato, it's not your fault.

Henry: Anyone would have been mad if that had happened to them.

(Cut briefly back to the battle to show that Daemon and Megidramon are fighting dagger against claw)

Takato: But I shouldn't have told Growlmon to do whatever it took. I should have remembered what happens when I make him digivolve in anger.

Rika: Listen, Goggle Brain, if I had a dollar for every time I've done something I regretted with a Digimon I would pretty much own Japan. We all do stupid things, some more so than others, and we all have to do what we can to correct them.

Takato: But what can I do to correct this?

Rika: I'm sure you'll think of something eventually.

(Cut back to the battle where Megidramon and Daemon are both firing a continuous stream of fire towards each other. The "Hazard" sign on Megidramon starts flashing. An earthquake occurs in the background.)

Takato: I sure hope so.

[Kenta: A Tamer needs to know when to rest. We'll be right back.]

COMMERCIALS

[Impmon: Whaddaya know? We're back!]

(In the fight, Daemon and Megidramon are still firing streams of fire at each other. Meanwhile, earthquakes are raging in the background. Unexpectedly, Megidramon suddenly slashes a claw at Daemon and tears off his head. The hood becomes stuck on Megidramon's claw as Daemon's head falls off and we see the hood disintegrate.)

Kazu: Talk about a suitable fate. That is pure Karma!

(Megidramon turns and faces the Tamers)

Rika: And what would you call this?

Kazu: Really bad luck.

(An earthquake occurs right beneath Suzie and Marineangemon shoots out a heart bubble to catch her)

Rika: Uh, Goggle Head, any time you want to figure out how to `correct' this would be fine with me.

Takato: I've got it.

(Takato pulls out a card)

Takato: Digimodify! Vaccination activate!

(Nothing happens)

Takato: Fine, then. Digimodify! Alias Activate!

(Still nothing.)

Rika: Did you really forget that you can't control him with cards when this happens?

Takato: I guess so.

(A helicopter comes onto the scene)

Henry: What the…

(Yamaki steps out)

Takato: Mr Yamaki?

Yamaki: Stand back, kids. There's only one thing this creature understands.

(Yamaki pulls out some kind of ray-gun)

Takato: Don't! That's Guilmon!

Yamaki: I don't care what it WAS. Right now it's a threat to mankind.

(Yamaki fires the ray at Megidramon. Megidramon seems to weaken)

Takato: (Trying one more time) Save yourself, Guilmon. Digimodify! Alias activate.

(Guilmon falls out of what is now nothing more than a large bright light)

Takato: I can't believe that worked!

(Yamaki turns off the ray and reveals that Megidramon is still standing there. Megidramon shoots a fireball at Ashley.)

Henry: Ashley! Look out!

Yamaki: Ashley?

(Yamaki turns around and sees Impmon pushing Ashley to safety, then jumping out of the way himself)

Yamaki: Ashley!

Ashley: Dad?

Yamaki: What are you doing here?

Ashley: (smirking) Saving the world. Like father like daughter. Except I actually told you.

Yamaki: You're a… a…

Ashley: a tamer.

Takato: Did I miss something here?

Ashley: My name isn't really Ashley Makiya. I am Ashley Yamaki.

Rika: That certainly explains a lot.

Takato: Now's not the time. We need to defeat Megidramon.

Rika: Right.

Takato/Rika/Henry/Ashley: Digimodify!

(We see a split screen with all their different modify poses)

Takato/Rika/Henry/Ashley: Digivolution activate!

DIGIVOLUTION

Guilmon: Guilmon, digivolve to…

Renamon: Renamon, digivolve to…

Terriermon: Terriermon, digivolve to…

Impmon: Impmon, digivolve ta…

(The four Digimon all transform to their Champion levels)

Growlmon: Growlmon!

Kyubimon: Kyubimon!

Gargomon: Gargomon!

Satamon: Satamon!

Takato: Alright, let's show him what we're made of.

(Takato, Rika and Ashley all pull out cards)

Takato/Rika/Ashley: Digimodify! Vaccination activate!

(Growlmon, Kyubimon and Satamon all glow white for a few seconds)

Takato: Now, all attack him at the same time.

Growlmon: Dragon Slash!

Gargomon: Bunny Pummel!

Kyubimon: Dragon Wheel!

Satamon: Satanic Ritual!

Leomon: Lion Sword!

Guardromon: Warning Laser!

(All the attacks hit Megidramon, but don't cause much damage. Megidramon shoots a stream of fire at all the attacking Digimon)

[(Image: Taomon holding her paintbrush)

Taomon: Commercial Break!

(Taomon sweeps her paintbrush along, creating not a yin-yang, but the Digimon logo)]

COMMERCIAL [(Image: Spinning logo)

C Narrator: Next time on Digimon

(Image: Ryo and Monodramon wandering the Digital World when a shadow appears above them)

C Narrator: Ryo discovers the true threat.

Ryo: It's you…

(Image: A swarm of bats are sent towards Ryo and Monodramon)

C Narrator: But with Monodramon unable to Digivolve, who will save them?

(Image: The bats are blown away by a laser-beam)

???: Dark Laser!

C Narrator: Don't miss the next all new Digimon.]

(Replay of the failed attacks and Megidramon's counterattack)

(The Digimon are all reduced to their Rookie levels except Growlmon and Leomon (who is just badly injured))

Jeri: Leomon!

Kazu: Guardromon, what happened?

Hangurumon: I dedigivolved.

Takato: Okay, it looks like it's up to us now, Growlmon.

(Takato pulls out two cards)

Takato: This should do the trick… Digimodify! Radiant Glow activate! Digimodify! Gargantuan activate!

(Growlmon grows to three times his size and glows white)

Takato: Now, show him what you're made of!

Growlmon: Pyro Blaster!

(Megidramon is knocked back by the attack)

Takato: It shouldn't take much more. Digimodify! MagnaAngemon's Gate of Destiny activate!

Growlmon: Hold on, everyone.

(Growlmon's claw extends as if to use a "Dragon Slash".)

Growlmon: Gate of Destiny!

(Growlmon moves his claw in a circular motion, creating a golden-door to the Dark Ocean (A/N: At least that's what I think it is. If anyone knows what the gate actually does, please tell me.))

Takato: Now, let's finish this. Digimodify! Hyper Speed activate!

(Growlmon runs very quickly around Megidramon)

Growlmon: Pyro Blaster!

(Growlmon knocks his evil Mega counterpart towards the gate. Megidramon becomes half-stuck in the gate, due to his large size. He shoots a fireball at Growlmon, who has turned his back thinking his opponent has been defeated. Growlmon reverts to Guilmon.)

Rika: That should have done it!

Takato: Guilmon! Speak to me!

Guilmon: Takatomon, why are the Biyomon flying around my head?

(Megidramon struggles to free himself from the gate, eventually breaking it with a slash)

Kazu: I've got a feeling that didn't work.

Rika: What was your first clue?

(Megidramon shoots a fireball right at Takato)

Jeri: Takato!

(Jeri runs and pushes Takato out of the way, leaving herself to bear the attack. Bakemon hurries to block the fire from hitting her. The fire hits Bakemon and he is knocked back. Megidramon grabs Jeri with his tail.)

[Takato: Digimodify! Break activate!

Metalic Voice: Digimon will be right back.]

COMMERCIALS

[Terriermon: Momentai, we're back.]

(Bakemon charges towards Megidramon, not entirely sure what he's going to do.)

Bakemon Let go of her! Evil Charm!

(Megidramon drops Jeri and Leomon rushes to catch her)

Jeri: Let's end this now!

(Jeri pulls out a blue card)

Takato: Jeri, you know those don't work anymore, right?

Jeri: We'll see about that. Digi-modify! Matrix Digivolution ACTIVATE!

MATRIX DIGIVOLUTION

Bakemon: Bakemon, Digivolve to…

Myotismon: Myotismon!

Takato: How…

Jeri: I focussed entirely on the battle and on… you, and it worked.

Myotismon: Just a slight adjustment here, please.

Jeri: Sure. Digimodify! Vaccination activate!

Myotismon: That's better. Now, Crimson Lightning!

(The attack hits Megidramon, who, having been weakened severely in the battle, is destroyed)

Ashley: Good riddance!

Yamaki: Look, Ashley, I'm sorry I let you down before. I'll try to be a better father, if I have another chance.

Ashley: Sorry? You failed to comfort me when I needed help the most. You were never there. You didn't even LOOK for me when I ran away. And one "sorry" is supposed to make up for that? My father is dead. He was dead the day I left.

Yamaki: Please, think before you say anything.

Ashley: I've been thinking about all of this for three years. You are dead to me.

(The tamers go their separate ways, leaving Jeri to comfort Takato, and Yamaki alone with his thoughts.)

Narrator: Talk about a twist, it looks like Bakemon IS Jeri's partner after all. But where's Ryo been through all this, and why did the Blue Card work for Jeri? Maybe we'll find out on the next Digimon: Digital Monsters.

Okay, I know I said the last one was my last work before I went to Quebec, but I couldn't leave my fans with a cliff-hanger like that for a week. I mean, I'm not Fox Kids or something.

Not much to talk about here. Yamaki's weapon was intended to break a Digimon down to its component data, and then scatter it to the ends of the earth. The reason Takato was able to get Guilmon out of Megidramon at this point was because Guilmon was part of Megidramon's component data. Of course the weapon didn't damage Megidramon, much less destroy him as it should have.

Jeri's use of the blue card did two things. It wrapped up the "Katou partners" issue and her explanation as to how it worked not only provided slight Jukato content, (YAY) but also foreshadowed a major revelation (No, not like that).

Just in case you're wondering, no, that bit about Ryo's absence being deliberate was not an attempt to work an accidental plot hole so that it worked in the story, it was planned.

Oh, and anyone who thinks Ashley should have accepted her father's apology should keep in mind that we're talking about Mitsuo Yamaki, and occasionally referring to him as "lower than pond scum" is an insult to pond scum. Once again, Yamaki fans, don't flame. He can be a real jerk at times. Like when he tried to choke Henry for hanging around with a Digimon, or when he first used Yugoth and didn't care when he was told something was wrong, or… you get the idea. Basically, he's not the kind of guy who should have anyone dependent on him.

Oh, finally, if I got the name of Guardromon's Rookie level wrong, please tell me. I want to know any and all mistakes I've made. (Things like "writing this" or any couple selected will be ignored)

Well, that's it. This is really the last you're getting before I head off to Quebec tomorrow. Please enjoy it. I swear this won't be abandoned like Darkened Hopes. Speaking of which, I'll work on that when I get back too.
