Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Falling.... ❯ ....Into You ( Chapter 1 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
My first crack at a Digimon fic, even though I can't abide by the FCC-commissioned hack job Saban does. Usual disclaimers apply, "Digimon"/"Digimon Adventure (02)" belong to Toei, Ban Dai, Saban, and Fox Kids- not I. That's right! I'm a college student who likes Digimon (Akazukin Cha Cha, Kaitou Saint Tail, Miracle Girls, Pokemon- Rocket Dan actually... SHINICHIRO MIKI-SAMA, AISHITERU WA!!!- Beatles, anything by Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman, and Humphrey Bogart flicks) wanna make something of it?! Good.
For my own sanity I've warped digivolved said chosen "children's" ages if I should be moved to write a sequel or add on to this vignette with a more *alluring* rating. As a side comment I'm an avid MIMATO and KENYAKO, but if memory serves me I'll be the third person to present this pairing. Ja.

Falling....
".... Into You"

by Ishida Miyako

Sizing up the ill-lit hall, Yolei Inoue reluctantly ventured into the latest gig that The Teen-Age Wolves scoured up for their promotional tour. Whichever god that had been actually listening to their music all throughout high school was responsible for granting them their three-album contract with Marine Entertainment*. Baritone voices echoed from somewhere behind the slowly dilapidating concrete walls and the lavender-haired sound engineer saw a halogen light flood the far end of the corridor. "So that's where the're hiding!" She hooted, and ran towards the commotion. Rounding a corner, Yolei stepped out onto a stage facing an enormous theatre. Antique crimson velvet curtains and several private boxes niched on either end of the theatre reminded her of 'Le Moulin Rouge'** and she suddenly felt content with the arrangements.
"Hey look who's finally here," a familiar voice echoed. Yolei turned to her left and saw Matt Ishida and the three other band members setting up their equipment. A blush stained the Digidestined of Love and Sincerity's face behind her titanium-rimmed spectacles.
"Sorry Matt," she sighed and slid off her backpack. "I had to get out of my uniform." Looking pointedly in Yolei's direction, Ichiro brought his drumstick down against a cymbal.
"Dunno babe. You looked mighty tasty with the Odaiba High sailor suit on...." Yolei could only sneer. Positive that she was far from her predecessor's stark beauty, she had her own fangirls and fanboys to fend off after each win at a computer programmers competition, or just debugging a teacher's hardrive with alarming ease and speed. Now dressed in a plum coloured satin Vietnamese-style blouse which came down to her hips and black capris with her ever present kerchief tied around her head, she strutted up to the soundbooth and began booting up the computer and activating soundboards, amplifiers and various other soft and hardware.
Ryohei began tuning his synthesizer as Seichi and Matt dueled with their guitars. Harmonius and rebellious rythms filled the theatre distracting Yolei in every turn. Not so much the music as the band leader. Black and white were Matt's newest mainstay in fashion, and the white jeans and black dress shirt complemented him in that unique way which could only become him. "Hey Matt!" The PA boomed with Yolei's voice laced with heavy feedback due to the frightening volume. Drumsticks and guitar picks landed on the sandy wooden floor as the musicians sheilded their ears.
"You got our attention Yolei," Matt chided, "but could you ease up on the volume?" Adjusting a couple of knobs Yolei returned to the microphone.
"Better?" A more suitable tone that earned nods of relief. "You want to get started on your first set? I hate to break up a good pow wow, but the concert's scheduled for tomorrow night...." Waving their hands in the affirmative the band regrouped for the first song. "We ready?" Matt took his stance behind the microphone.
Raising his drumsticks high above his head, Ichiro counted them off. "One, two... a one, two, three, FOUR!"

I don't want to waste your time
Make you hang around thinking you've done wrong
You can only wait for me
For so long

But I ain't coming over proving nothing
'Cause I know it's always something
And how you value
Your time alone

And how long had she been avoiding THAT truth? One might suggest she might still be suffering form her school girl crush when she first received her D3. Hurtling down to Earth when she saw him swarmed by gorgeous, curvaceous high school fangirls after each preformance. Auditoriums, dance clubs, Matt wasn't particular about each encounter. Just as long as pleasure was recieved and given with an autograph as the price. Yolei almost enraged to the point of boxing his ears. Didn't he see her there? Matt had made certain that Yolei wasn't left out of the band's activities, and when it came down to it she was perhaps the only one he could really relate to. Speak on the level with. There was no need to put on airs with other digidestined. It wasn't normal. It wasn't... right.

So I'm out of here
'Cause I know I'm nowhere near
What you want, what you want
What you're looking for

I don't want to make you smile
Only to see it all turn around
When you decide that I've just
Let you down

'Let you down.' Let. Down. The ultimate in life's little cosmic jokes. Rain cancelling baseball game. Ichiro getting zooted and having to bail him out... again. Getting stuck with the anchovie quarter of the pizza pie. Parents divorce. Seeing T.K. every other weekend. Cooking your fucked-up casserole because Dad's caught up at the TV station AGAIN. The look Yolei gave you when he kicked Ryohei out of the group after the noodles incident. The time Yolei showed up to rehearsal dissolved in tears after coming up empty last Valentines Day. But you took her to that new Korean barbeque joint and she wore a smile from ear to ear all night like she won the lottery.
Yeah doll-face, confuse me.

And I ain't making up my mind just yet
How easy I forget
Just how you add to
My confusion

So I'm out of here
'Cause I know I'm nowhere near
What you want, what you want
What you're looking for

If I'm breaking your heart
You'll always know where mine got its start
It's better like this anyway
If your world has fallen apart
Maybe you'll find me in the dark
Searching for the right thing to say . . .

But I don't want to waste your time
Make you hang around thinking you've done wrong
You can only wait for me
For so long

So I'm out of here
'Cause I know I'm nowhere near
What you want, what you want
What you're looking for

Unstrapping his Stratford bass, Matt glnced at his watch. A quarter after ten. "Why don't we call it quits?" He needn't repeat himself. As soon as he blinked the instruments and stage amps were packed into their cases and secured into lockers and wheeled out. Matt looked up to the engineer's booth and saw Yolei puttering about through the plexiglass window. Every turn of her head and hand or arm movement looked delayed, almost lazy. But she always walked about head reared heavenward each step so sure with purpose. Matt found himself trudging up the wrought iron spiral staircase to the booth.
Yolei lovingly tucked her iBook back into her knapsack, and fished for her sweater that somehow found itself lodged in a corner of the control room. The door softly opened and Matt languidly sidled in. "Matt? What's wrong?" Matt was leaning against the door looking her up and down. Hands shoved into his pockets. "Matt, is something the matter?"
He now approached her. Yolei almost felt the urge to dash away. Her russet eyes brimmed with tears.
"Yolei...." Tears streaming as she felt his breath graze her cheek. "....Tell me something...." Some small squeak was uttered in response. "....Have you ever felt like you were falling?"

FIN...?

Authors's notes:
* -This is the production compny that blessed the world with "Weiss Kreuz".
** -NOT the remake starring Nicole Kidman, but the original B&W classic.
Well that's where I'll leave off, and hopefully YOU can point me in the right direction to continue this little brainstorm of mine. And YES the song is indeed Summercamp's "Nowhere Near", track 10 on Digimon The Movie CD soundtrack. I thought it would suit Teen Age Wolves very much.
