Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Have You Ever? ❯ Chapter I ( Chapter 1 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Disclaimer: I, Kazutakia Aiko Juithia Maeve, solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole - Oh...wrong thing. ^-^; Ehh...I don't own Digimon. Or Brandy. Or the song "Have you ever?". I guess some things were just not meant to be...Anyway, this is the first -------- fic I've written (Can't tell you, you have to read to find out the pairings! So nyah!), so go easy, okay? Coolio! Onward!
Dedication: Okay, very few people know my real identity, so I get to make a real dedication. This fic is dedicated to the person I have been trying to work the nerve up to talk to, because they make me feel exactly like Yolei does in this fic!
"Hey, Yolei...are you going to go to the school prom next week?" Kari asked, propping her chin on her hands.
"Yeah, I'll probably go...are you?" I replied, rolling over on my sleeping bag. I was spending the night at Kari's house, and it was sometime in the early, early morning.
"Yep, I'm going with T.K....you're gonna go with Ken, right?" I got up to get some chips, mostly to stall. Finally, I answered her.
"I dunno. Our relationship's been kinda rocky lately. I'm still not sure if he's who I really want to be with." I lied. I did know who I wanted to be with, had known ever since I was twelve. And it wasn't Ken.
/*Have you ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad
You can't sleep at night
Have you ever tried to find the words
But they don't come out right
Have you ever, have you ever*/
An hour later, Kari had finally fallen asleep. Now I could think in peace. At our school, it was customary for the guy to ask the girl to the prom, and so far, Ken hadn't asked me. The prom was only four days away. I glanced at a clock. Wait, make that three, because by now it was Sunday. I supposed Ken might not ask me, which may be just as well. It left me available for the other person I wanted to go with. Unfortunately, I didn't think he even knew I existed.
Three hours later, Tai came barreling in, waking Kari up. I still hadn't gotten any sleep.
Tai looked at me and started laughing. "Yolei, you really should have gotten some sleep! You look horrible!"
"Gee," I said sourly. "Maybe you were snoring too loudly for me to sleep." That, too, was a lie. I hadn't even heard him from where he had been sleeping, in the guest room. Mrs. Yagami made him use the guest room while I was over so Kari and I could hang out.
Kari stretched and went into the bathroom. I followed her, grabbing my little bag of make-up. I had to do something about the rings around my eyes.
"Hey Kari," I said, "How come you never get rings around your eyes? You only got three hours of sleep, and you still don't have them!" She glanced at herself in the mirror, confirming what I said.
"My chamomile sticks," she imformed me, handing me one. It looked like a grey tube of white lipstick. "Just put it around your eyes when you wake up and when you go to sleep. Keep that one, I have more." I stared at it.
"So what do I do for today? I'm sure it won't make them go away instantly." I searched through my make-up bag, looking for my foundation.
"Go ahead and put it on, then cover them up with foundation," she supplied, fixing her hair. Then, she shrugged on a shirt and left. I quickly brushed my own hair and followed her. "See? It'll work for covering them up for today. Let's go downstairs for breakfast."
Breakfast was uneventful, unless you count Tai 'accidentally' spilling his orange juice on Kari and her excusing herself to change clothes. After breakfast and cleaning up, we all collapsed on the couch to watch some TV. Halfway through our third show, the phone rang.
"I'll get it," said Tai, jumping up. We heard him talking loudly, then hanging up. "C'mon," he said cheerfully. "We're going to the beach! Matt just called and said the rest of the DigiDestined were going, so why don't we go?"
/*Have you ever been in love
Been in love so bad
You'd do anything to make them understand
Have you ever had someone steal your heart away
You'd give anything up to make them feel the same*/
So, we went to the beach. I didn't feel much like swimming, so I put some sunscreen on and watched everyone else play in the water. My eyes kept drifting to one person in particular. If a genie had popped out of the ground and offered me one wish, it would be to have them feel the same about me. I wish I was brave enough to talk to them about it, but I felt like it would ruin our friendship. Eventually, I picked up a sketch pad and started drawing pictures of all the DigiDestined and their Digimon.
"Hey," said a voice. Whoever the voice belonged to was dripping water on me, and I frowned. "Sorry about that," he said, grabbing his towel. It was Izzy.
"Hey Izzy," I said, closing my sketchpad. "What's up?"
He sat down next to me. "Not much," he said, laying down and closing his eyes. He seemed preoccupied, so I opened my sketchpad again. Since he was right there, I decided to finish my sketch of Izzy. I couldn't make his hair right, and I started mumbling to myself. Izzy opened one eye and noticed me sketching. Sitting up, he examind my picture. "Not bad," he said, smiling at me.
I blushed because I'm not used to people seeing my artwork. Very few people know I'm even interested in art, much less that I do art. The potentially awkward moment was broken as Tai and Kari came barreling up, with TK and Davis close behind. I quickly hid my book in my bag and pulled out a novel.
As the others skidded to a stop by the blanket, I pretended to read to avoid having to talk to anyone.
"Nice try, Yolei," said TK. "It's hard to read upside down." Everyone laughed and I quickly turned the book right side up. I didn't know why I didn't want to talk, I just didn't. I'd rather just observe *him* from a distance.
Mimi, Matt, Ken, Joe, Cody and Sora came up to the blanket, too. Ken got a soda and sat down in the sand nearby, not saying a word to me. Cody grabbed some sushi and a riceball. Everyone else grabbed assorted foods and sprawled, stood, or sat around the blanket. Grabbing two sodas and handing one to me, Izzy asked if he could see my drawings again.
"You draw?" asked Mimi. "Can I see?" I turned red again, because like I said before, I'm not that open about my art. Izzy looked apologetic for asking it when people could hear him. I couldn't help it, he looked *so* apologetic, I had to smile.
"It's okay, Izzy. You can all look at my drawings if you like."
With that, I lay down and read my book, right side up this time.

Like it so far? Who d'you think it is? (Please tell me it's not hugely obvious who she likes! x.x) Next part coming soon...or not soon...or...whenever I feel like writing some more! =p
