History of a Fox
Chapter 2: The Magic Knight

“If we digivolved together then what are we?” I asked wanting to know just what I was.

“Byakkomon. And they've backed off,” He was talking about the Nightmare Soldiers.

I pulled myself out of the hole that they had pummeled Furukitsumon into. In doing so, I pulled myself into a standing position. I looked myself over. I was wearing gray armor. The chest plate was white. I had a gold staff in my right hand. Ladydevimon and Necrogallantmon stepped back. They had no idea what was going on.

I spun my staff then brought it down with a sharp, clang!

“So who's first?” I asked smiling.

“I'll wipe that smile of your face! Crush Shield!” Necrogallantmon shouted as energy blasted from the shield.

The attack just came to me, “Kitsune's Illusion!”

There were twelve of me all over the room.

“You've tried this trick before. Spiral of Anarchy!” Necrogallantmon launched the attack.

“Kitsune Spell!” I shouted and ice began climbing up the Nightmare Soldiers turning them into blocks of ice, even as they tried to break the ice.

When there arms were frozen the ice still climbed but I did another attack, “Fox Soul!”

My body erupted in white fire and I launched myself at the Nightmare Soldiers. The ice was melted and the Nightmare Soldiers were burned. They didn't stick around. Kitsumon and I separated. I wasn't surprised when he went straight back to Kitsumon. WE decided that this wasn't a safe place to be anymore. WE climbed out of the sewer and found ourselves by a warehouse were we saw kids going in. WE decided to follow them in and there found the kids going through the portal. The portal led to the digital world and there a girl named Ebony began talking about some final attack on Crowly.

When the meeting was over we went back to the warehouse. There we were fed, the first good meal Kitsumon and I had, had in a long time. I slept good for the first time in months and so did Kitsumon. Since we'd become outlaws we'd been hunted almost unceasingly. The next morning I heard the story running through the kids. Some guy had taken on two nightmare soldiers at once. While I wanted to meet this guy I new that he was nothing too special, after all Kitsumon and I had done the same the day before.

“What are we going to do Byakko? You know what they're up against,” Kitsumon was sitting beside me.

“Yeah. But what difference would we make?”

“Maybe just enough, Maybe nothing at all. We'll never know unless we're there to see.”

“Yeah. But damn it! We're just a fox and a human!”

“That's were you're wrong. We are what we want to be. If we want to be a human and a fox, we'll be a human and a fox. If we want to be a demon and a demon fox…”

“Then we're a demon and a demon fox,” I said an ear to ear grin spreading across my face.

“All right. We'll take out as many of the Nightmare Soldiers as we can and then take Crowly on!”

It wasn't much longer before we were marching toward Crowly's building. There were no Exterminators, no Nightmare Soldiers. Nothing, except Crowly and something in a black cloak floating beside him. Crowly smiled evilly. Then I saw him. A boy in a long black coat. I had feeling that I knew him, and the dragon looking thing standing beside him, from somewhere. He threw a punch at Crowly. Crowly bio-merged with the thing floating beside him. That removed all doubt, that thing was Necromon and the new monster standing before us was the fucking devil himself! The boy's Digimon changed into a knight in black armor. Both beings sent a shiver down my spine, both were evil.

Crowly began butchering all the children that he could reach. I knew Kitsumon and I didn't have a lot of time to try and save them. Then the black knight attacked Crowly. The two began fighting and that bought me all the time I needed.

“Kitsumon bio-merge to…Byakkomon,” I didn't waist anytime, “Kitsune's Illusion!”

I managed to mask the escape of the kids with the illusion, but some had already been lost to that bastard! When we reached a safe place Kitsumon and I separated. I explained what I'd done and told everyone that If they wanted a peaceful life this was their chance, although I doubted it would last long. With that I left telling them not to follow me.

I know that the only children to survive were the ones that kept fighting and running. It was just a few weeks after the attack on Crowly that it happened. I was walking to my childhood home. I wanted to get out of the city. I wanted to try and get stronger somehow. I heard the exterminators coming and ducked behind a dumpster. The Exterminators went up to a house and kicked the door down. Crowly walked in with his partner. I rushed to a window and watched as that little fucker of a Digimon devoured the entire family! He didn't eat every part of them, just enough o kill them! Their screams are seared into my brain, and everytime I close my eyes I see that slaughter. I had to fight every impulse to try and save them. But I knew that would just make it worse, because Kitsumon and I would be killed and then there would be no one strong enough to defeat Crowly. What made it so terrible, is that, it was my family being butchered!

I had to fight back the tears, but they came anyway. My anger at myself, my hatred for Crowly, my sadness over the lose of my family. All mixed into this odd feeling that has become my entire being. Weather or not I kill Crowly, I don't care. But that man must be destroyed. His legacy must not be forgotten, but must be eradicated! I curled into a ball behind the house and just sat there. I didn't fight the feeling of the numbness wash over me and replace every part of me. I kept what was needed if I ever wanted to go back but everything else was eliminated.

It was night by the time I came out of my shock. I went into the house and gathered the bodies of my parents, my little sister, and I took them outside. Then I had Kitsumon set fire to them. When the fire died I let their ashes scatter to the wind. The tears came again and I silently swore to see Crowly die, and until then raise hell for him. The next morning I started my rain of destruction on Crowly.

As Byakkomon I destroyed statues of him. I attacked and destroyed armies of Exterminators. Then one day I finally met Him. Face to face, Crowly and Necromon.

“So you are the one that's been causing trouble for me. Tell me, where are the rest of your friends. Hiding in the buildings waiting to snipe me?” Crowly smiled.

“Heh. You don't know too much do you? A kitsune never partners with anyone, except to gain something that he can't gain otherwise. I can kill you right now if I want to,” I said placing my staff on his shoulder.

I was easily three inches taller then him so he had to look up at me. It gave me a feeling of power, but I knew this was no ordinary man.

“Didn't your mother ever teach you. Not to play with the devil?” The look in Crowly's eyes was that of a homicidal madman.

This man is the devil incarnate, was the thought that ran through my mind. I didn't have time to ponder it further and Necromon jumped at me. I swatted him away with my staff and watched him skid across the ground. I turned from Crowly, he wasn't the threat here. Even if he had a gun it wouldn't be able to pierce my armor.

I spun my staff then brought it down pointed toward necromon's prone figure. His eyes were closed and it looked like he was dead.

“No way it's this easy,” I thought narrowing my eyes waiting for the attack.
To be continued…
