Chapter 3 First Day of School and Meeting Takuya

A/N: Enjoy.

The loud, harsh bell of my alarm clock wakes me up
the next morning. I turn it off and roll over in bed. A loud
knock makes my eyes snap open. "Yalanda!" my mom calls
from the opposite side of the door."Get up! I'm driving you
to school you want to be late!" I groan, pull back the cover,
and roll over, planting my feet on the bare floor. "Ooooh!" I
exclaim. "Cold!" I stand up and shuffle to the door and
open it. I head to the bathroom, do my business, turn on
the shower, and step into it, letting the water warm me.
After my shower, I grab a towel already in the bathroom
and walk back to my bedroom.I open my drawer and grab underwear, a T-shirt, jeans,
and white socks. I put them on, quickly brush my hair
using my door mirror, tie it into a ponytail, and run
downstairs with my backpack. Mom is sitting in the
kitchen, drinking coffee. I walk to the door and grab my
sneakers. I slip them on and started tying the laces. "What
time is it?" I ask, still tying them. " Mom replies. "Oh,"
I say. I open the door and go outside. A cool breeze toys
with my hair. I walk to the passenger side of the car, open
it and get in, putting my backpack to the floor. Mom gets in
the car and starts it. She pulls out of the driveway and we
go on our way. Images of that red creature flash in my
mind. I force them out of my mind. "What school am I
going to?" I ask. I ask. "I think it's called "Sakaiju
Elementary," Mom replies. "Oh," I murmur. "Is something
bothering you?" Mom asks, concerned. "No," I reply
forcing a smile. "I'm all right." I hate to lie, but if I tell her I
had seen a red monster in a tree yesterday, she'd think I
was making up stories. Or completely insane. We, soon,
arrive at the school. It's huge with a huge gate! Mom parks
across the street from it. We both get out of the car. I
adjust my backpack, then cross the street with Mom and
enter the school. We search for the Main Office. Luckily,
Mom can read Japanese, so she didn't have trouble
finding it. We go in. I look around the office. It's kind of big.
Mom talks to a secretary. When she finally finishes, she
turns to me. "I won't be able to pick you up this afternoon
because my boss will have me working a little late," Mom
says. 'Great,' I think. "I've made up a map from here to our
house, so you don't get lost," Mom continues."It's in the
right pocket of your backpack." She gives me a quick kiss
on the cheek. I sigh. I hate school, despite what country
I'm in. "See you later," Mom says. "Bye, Mom," I say,
waving. She leaves. The woman Mom was talking to
walks up to me. "I am Ms. Takata," she says with an
accent. "I will take you to your class. Come." She walks
out the door. I follow. We walk up to the third floor and
walk to a classroom with a sign with the numbers "3-7" on
them( A/N: Bear with me.). The room number, I guess.
"Wait until you are called, then enter the classroom," Ms.
Takata tells me. "Thank you," I say. She nods, then walks
off. "We have a new student joining our class today," a
male's muffle voice announces. "Come in!" That's my cue.
I slide open the door and walk in. The kids in the room
stare at me. "Please approach the front of the classroom,"
he says. I do. He writes my name on the a chalkboard. In
Japanese. "This is Yalanda Ingram," the teacher
announces, putting a hand on my shoulder. "She's come
all the way from America, so be nice to her, O.K.?" "O.K.!"
The class says in unison. "You can sit next to Kimiko," the
teacher says pointing to a seat behind a girl with short,
brown hair. I thank him and claim my new seat. The
teacher starts his lesson. I glance at a boy with blue in a
seat next to me. He scribbles something in a notebook. He
looks up from his writing and gazes at me. He smiles
slightly before resuming his scribbling. Well, at least
SOMEONE likes me.

The class goes by pretty quickly. The bell ring and the
TEACHER leaves. I thought STUDENTS switch classes.
Oh, well. As the kids wait for the next teacher, the girl with
short, brown hair turns to me and smiles. "Hi," she says.
"Hi," I say. I'm shaking. "I can see you're nervous," she
says."Yeah," I reply. "I get like that on the first day of
school." "Well, don't be," she says. "Everyone around here
is nice. It's just that they've never seen someone like you
before." "Oh," I say."Who's the boy with the blue hair?" I
see him playing with another boy with black hair. Kimiko
follows my gaze. "Oh, that's Hiroyuki," she replies. "He's
weird, but a good friend. Everyone calls him 'Hiro'." I nod.
We talk until the new teacher arrives.

The rest of the day goes by pretty fast. I eat lunch with
Kimiko, seeing that Mom forgot to pack a lunch for me.
Kimiko offers to share her lunch with me. She's so nice!
It's sushi, shrimp and other sea foods. She hands me a
pair of chopsticks. They're together, so I pull them apart. I
try to pick up a piece of shrimp, but it slips from my grasp.
Kimiko laughs and shows me ho to use them. You hold
them like a pencil. After lunch, I have Math, Science,
English, Gym, and, lastly, Music. At the end of the day, I
race downstairs and out the door. My teacher had given
me a locker during Study Hall. I leave my backpack since
there's no homework, but I take out the map Mom had
given me. I wanted Kimiko to walk home with me, because
I'm scared that creature will follow me, but she lives on the
other side of Shibuya. I don't feel like walking home right
at the moment, so I walk slowly enjoying the scenery. I
walk to a corner and stop. Just as I'm about to cross the
street, something grabs me and pulls me into a alley. I
scream, but the attacker slaps a hand over my mouth. "It's
O.K.," a voice whispers, reassuringly, in my ear. "I'm not
gonna hurt you." I manage to break free and spin around. I
gasp. It's that strange creature I saw yesterday. "Who are
you?!" I demand. "What do you want?!" "My name is
Takuya," He says, softly. "And I need your help."
