Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Human Eyes, Digital Soul ❯ Focal Points ( Chapter 1 )
Part One: Focal Points
Disclaimer: I don't Own Digimon. All original characters are mine.
Author's notes: Well, the Prologue is up, and I got good reviews, as well as had someone rip off stuff from it. (eyes Izzy Izumi). But I intend to continue this story. I'm not the greatest with romance, so please bear with me. This isn't the kinda stuff I normally write. ParaEarth isn't gonna show up again for awhile. So if you want to know more about James "Kosmo" Barron, yer just gonna have to wait, cause for awhile, the story happens exclusively on Tamer Earth. I hope everyone likes this. Also, this takes place just after Renamon's FIRST digivolution into Kyuubimon, and follows a slightly different timeline. So Ice Devimon has not appeared yet. he will though, but it will be several weeks after the time in which he was supposed to appear in the show. Some events will not follow the events of Tamers, but I do plan to include the Devas once I see the Saga of the Devas on Fox.

Takato slowly walked towards the bakery his parents lived and worked in. He smiled a bit as he remembered that it was here at his home that he had seen his D-Arc turn his images and statistics into a digiegg. A Digiegg which later hatched, leading to the arrival of Guilmon. A month ago, he would have called it impossible. But in the last few weeks, he had been forced to re-think that opinion. Of course, he also considered it impossible to get through to Ruki, who still considers Digimon to be nothing more than data, and who's only purpose is to fight. She was cute though....
Knock it off, Takato. You're being an idiot. Besides, what the hell would she want with you? Why would you want anything to do with her, for that matter?
Takato sighed as he realized that trying to dissuade himself from thinking about her was useless. While she was a rough and tumble tomboy, who obviously didn't really give a damn about anyone, except perhaps Renamon, he had to admit, he did think she was pretty. Of course, he'd never admit that out loud. He often still wondered why he had dreamed about her the day before Guilmon hatched. It still confused him. But right now he had bigger problems. He was late getting home to help out with his chores around the bakery, and he knew his mom would be mad. His dad wouldn't really mind. After all, he knew Takato liked to hang out with his friends, and so long as Takato was safe, healthy, happy, and not doing anything illegal.....
Let's just say his dad was much less of a worrywart than Takato's mother was.
"Hey, gogglehead! Where are you off to in such a hurry?"
Takato stopped, and turned his head to the left, and sure enough, there was Ruki. He was a bit surprised. He didn't remember her ever coming this near to his home. In fact, the one time he'd actively sought her out, he'd gone to her home. He was so surprised that all he could do was stare for a second, before shaking his head to clear it.
"Uh.....I was just on my way, uh, home. Why?" He replied. He wasn't sure if he even wanted answer or not.
"No reason." With that, she turned and left, smirking. It had been worth the effort of trekking almost halfway across town to see him. When he had walked right by her, seemingly lost in his own thoughts, she had simply followed. She found herself, much to her amazement, now that she thought of it, admiring his looks. The brown hair, green eyes, blue shirt, yellow goggles, and wristbands didn't exactly match, but they did make him look somewhat handsome.
Damnit, I'm getting as soft as HE is!

To call him confused would be an understatement. As he got to his feet, he looked around. He was surrounded by trees, shrubbery, and.....cement? Yes, it was indeed cement. Was he in some kind of a park? He looked around a bit more. It did seem to be a park. A large one. What bothered him, though, was that he could recognize this as a park, but for the life of him, he couldn't even recall what his name was! Shaking his head, he decided to get the hell out of here. Whoever he was, he didn't have any hope of learning about himself here.
The crowd only paid him lip attention. The area was filled mostly with children, who stared at his black sweatpants, gray tank top, and wild brown hair. He was decidedly American, but he held an air of danger about him. Only the youngest, and most innocent of children dared to go near him as he passed their way. Whoever he was, he meant business. They knew that. He knew that.
But who was he?
******************************************************************** ***************************
Renamon growled a bit, kicking at a stone as she passed by it. It was night time now. Very few humans were out and about in the area where Ruki lived, so she figured it wouldn't hurt to take a short walk to the park, which, aside from Guilmon, was essentially abandoned at night. However, her thoughts weren't on the mysterious origins of Guilmon, though she had often found herself wondering about them, nor were they on Ruki. She was frustrated. Frustrated because in almost now four weeks, not a single thing had happened. In fact, the peacefullness of the last four weeks was starting to make her worried. Things were never this calm for this long. She found herself almost wishing for Impmon to crop up, just for a distraction, so she could vent her mounting aggression on something. Her tail lashed, and she leapt up to a stone arch, before sitting down, and looking over the park. It looked beautiful at night, she couldn't deny that. But she couldn't shake the fact that something was wrong. Then, a tinge of something on the wind tickled her nose, and it twitched a bit.
What the......it's odd...I could swear this is the scent of a Digimon. But it's so.....so.....garbled.....
The scent was new. She'd never scented a Digimon like it, even in the Digital World. Whoever this was, they were definately a new player in the game.
Finally! I thought I would go insane without something to do!
Now armed with a purpose to work towards, Renamon smiled, and began to track the scent. It was faint, but relatively recent. Unfortunately, her search lead her towards the other side of the park, which was more densely populated, with more humans who were active at night. Having to take to the higher areas, such as lamp posts, and even low-level buildings would impede her ability to track this new Digimon, especially since it seemed it was loose, which in and of itself concerned her. Shouldn't she have felt the presence of a Digital Field hours ago? There was no way this new Digimon should have escaped her notice, let alone that of Guilmon, who she grudgingly admitted, had an even better sense for the fields, as well as a better nose for tracking, than she did. Terriermon, while a halfway competant fighter, seemed to have the worst senses of the three of them. She often wondered who was the more powerful between herself and Guilmon. He had simply stood there while her Diamond Storm assault had been unleashed. And his power in physical combat was startling. Her only real advantage seemed to be in the department of experience. Guilmon seemed to have been a creature that had the intelligence of a human child, perhaps between two and three, but he had power that was totally unnatural for a Rookie. She knew her power was at least as much as his own, but she had been battling for far longer than he or Terriermon. With the data she had loaded since joining forces with Ruki, Guilmon shouldn't have even been in the fight for a minute. Yet he had proven to be as strong as she was, at the very least. And his Champion form! Renamon shuddered, sending ripples through her fur from the motion. She often wondered if he even had a Champion form. Growlmon seemed to be as powerful as an Ultimate in that body. Did that mean his Ultimate level body could be as strong as a Mega? She couldn't feel for certain how powerful Growlmon was, since she had only fought him when he was Guilmon, but the raw power he had displayed in the battle with Devidramon, was chilling. Even as Kyuubimon, she felt Growlmon could have fought her to a standstill. In fact, had Takato and Ruki not been involved in any way with their first battle, Guilmon could conceiveably fought her to a stalemate. Takato had managed to save Guilmon at the last second after Ruki had used her D-Arc to power an armor weapon that was some kind of gun. But if Ruki hadn't card slashed? What then? It was still something that bothered her. But that very power was what had her curious now. The mere fact that Guilmon had that kind of power should have meant that he and Takato would have sensed this newcomer. Yet it seemed Guilmon was still wherever the hell in the park it was that he slept at night. Takato was probably home sleeping as well. Ruki was off at yet another tournament tonight. That hadn't surprised Renamon in the least. With the lull in activity, Ruki had thrown herself back into the card game for something to do. But once she heard of this new Digimon, Renamon had no doubt that she and Ruki would be searching for it until they tracked it down and had taken it's data.
I'm going to enjoy this.
********************************************************* **************************************
To call Ruki bored would be an understatement.
As the crowd milled around her, she simply flipped another card down, knowing that her opponent was already beaten. She was just prolonging the agony. Then again, with no real Digimon to fight, she supposed this was just as well. She had to do something to keep her skills sharp.
A few minutes later, the match was over and she had won yet another Digimon card battle tournament. She had won another trophy, and increased the power of her reputation as the Digimon Queen.
And yet she couldn't find a reason in herself to care.
***************************************************************** ******************************
As Ruki walked home, she ran through the cardbattles she'd fought in the tournament. The Tamers in the tournament were mediocre at best, and she was disgusted at the fact that she had let that final match go as long as it did. But with no Digital Fields to focus on, she'd needed something to focus on. And anything was better than thinking about a certain brown-haired, google-wearing Tamer......
Damnit, Ruki! Get over yourself! He's nothing! A weak little boy with a PET for a Digimon. Forget the fact that he has those green eyes....or how cute he looks when he's scared or....STOP IT! You're going to drive yourself NUTS at this rate! He's a rival! Nothing more!
Despite her self-beration, she couldn't help but let her mind wander in his direction. He was sweet and naive, and at the same time, she couldn't help but admire his appearance. He wasn't a greek god, but then, he wasn't a rat faced weirdo either. He was normal, and she often wondered if he had a girlfriend.....
ARGH! I'd KILL for a Digital Field right now!
********************************************************** *************************************
He was still confused.
He had wandered about the city for hours. The fact that he didn't recognize it didn't surprise him. If he didn't know his own name, why should he know where he was?
He was about to turn down a street, when he bumped into someone. He turned his gaze from the sidewalk and blinked. It was a young women, perhaps in her early to mid twenties. She also seemed rather well off.
"Sorry." He was speaking in English. That much he knew.
"No problem. Was my fault." The voice spoke in broken english, and had an accent. But he couldn't place it.
"You speak Japanese?"
He blinked. Japanese?
"Hai."
Now how the hell had he known to say that?
***************************************************************** ******************************
"Sir, we're still picking up those odd readings."
"Keep me informed. I'm going to go over the data from our last Wild One." responded the blond man known only as Yamaki.
"Yes Sir."
I will destroy these abominations one way or another. Was Yamaki's only thought as he went to his office.
*************************************************************** ********************************
Calumon was, much like the others, bored silly. He had played any game he could find, but they didn't last long. Something was missing. He hadn't been by to see Guilmon in over a week. And he was starting to miss his friend. Guilmon was, in fact, the only one who seemed to be interested in playing with him. He was worried that Guilmon might have forgotten him.
Well, there's only one way to fix that! I'll go visit him!
So deciding, the little Digimon turned towards the park and laughed at the thought of seeing his friend again.
**************************************************************** *******************************
So she's the Digimon Queen. Impressive. She will make a grand Tamer. But I must show her how well we will work together. And to do that, I have to bring her here. Now......the only obstacle seems to be that foolish Renamon of hers. What a pathetic creature! Hardly worthy of someone as cold and perfect as her.
With that, Ice Devimon smiled a sinister smile.
Perhaps I should let Renamon experience what it means to be a 'star' among Digimon.....
