Chapter 1: Bad Dream, Surprise Guest

Tyler awoke with a weary look in his eyes. Staring at the ceiling, he reflected how many times he had the same dream that seemed to plague him, getting stronger each time. Tyler knew what the dream meant, but he was getting annoyed of the fact that it would occur each night.

The digidestined, new and old along with their digimon, were in the digital world having a picnic. Everyone was having a good time, talking and laughing, not caring about the way they were set up. There were seven couples, all sitting with their mates: Tai and Sora, Kari and Davis, TK and Jun, Matt and Samantha, Cody and Trinity, Ken and Yolei, and Izzy and Mimi. The only one who didn’t have anyone was Tyler. He seemingly didn’t pay any attention to the setup, but Tyler noticed everything. He just chose not to give any thought to it. He figured as long as no one takes note of the situation and doesn’t say anything, he would be alright. Unfortunately, things got a little more complicated.
The talking started to die down, and the couples began chatting amongst one another: Tai to Sora, Matt to Sam, and so on, until it was down to Tyler and Smilomon, who was asleep next to him. Tyler started feeling out of place as he looked at them talking, scanning them until his eyes fell upon Mimi who was staring at him solemnly, but he could easily tell the look was a lie just by looking in her eyes, which shown with mischievousness. This made Tyler’s eyebrows furrow. ‘Crest of Sincerity my foot,’ he thought.
“Don’t worry Tyler,” she said to him sweetly, but sadly. “There might be someone out there for you.”
Tyler heard the hidden message in her words, telling him that he won’t ever find anyone again. With a tear in his eye, he got up and walked off.

Tyler looked at the clock on his nightstand which read 12:15 am. ‘Good grief,’ he thought. Not wanting to go to sleep anymore, Tyler got out of bed and went to his closet to get his training clothes, which consisted of a black tank-top shirt, loose black slacks held by a black belt with a metallic silver buckle in the shape of two hook daggers crossing each other, heavy black sketcher boots, and black fingerless gloves with the Crest of Loyalty, a silver S with the curves spiraled many times, embedded on it.
After getting dressed he went into the hallway of his apartment and stopped in front of an obsolete white door that had no knob. He pressed a part of the wall next to the door, which slid open to reveal a computer panel with many buttons. He typed in a few coordinates and pressed the start button, which opened the door, and he stepped into his training room. The room (which in reality wasn’t a room at all, but a very discrete part of the digital world that didn’t show up on any map) consisted of a dense forest full of light purple colored trees with dark purple leaves, a two-foot deep river that ran its never-ending course down the middle of the forest to a place where Tyler has yet to explore, a wide waterfall that poured heavily from a large rock formation that rose about thirty feet, splashing onto a smaller cluster of rocks that served as a meditation seat. The sky was a beautiful deep cerulean color, and since it was the evening time, the sun was slowly setting behind the trees. Towards the middle of the forest was a small wooden shack with only one bedroom, a small living room and a kitchen. The shack was well supplied, and the food would stay fresh when the training room was turned off, so it only needed to be replenished every once in a while. This is where Tyler was now, pouring himself a cup of his famous tea. He went and sat in the living room on his lazy boy chair, letting his senses mellow in the scent of the tea, which consisted of different types of berry leaves that ranged from raspberry to wildberry. This always relaxed him so he could have a clear mind when he meditated to prepare for his training. The tea itself, when drank would give him the energy and stamina to perform the seemingly complicated moves that would baffle his opponent, making it easy for him to dispatch them.
After finishing the tea and washing the cup (he’s a clean-freak), Tyler left the house and went to the cluster of rocks under the waterfall. There he sat, directly under the fall, letting the water cascade down his long shoulder length black hair that was done in many braids, down his back and arms, over his eyes, and into his hands that were cupped in front of him which had their own little puddle in them. Tyler didn’t have to hurry; the room allowed him to take all the time he needed. Like the digital world prior to the reformatting, and sort of like the time room in Dragonball Z, one day spent there equaled to one minute in the real world. The only difference was that Tyler was able to adjust the controls and the time accordingly using the panel outside, so he could make five days into five years if he wanted to, and still not age until his actual birthday in the real world.
Tyler meditated for thirty minutes, his skin turning a light bluish gray color from the cold water, his breathing was still surprisingly normal, and small wisps of vapor escaped his nose. Suddenly in one fluid movement, his eyes shot open, which briefly flashed silver, and he leaped from his sitting position high into the air, doing multiple somersaults and coming down with a mighty splash in the water, landing on one knee. A look of determination was in his eyes as if he was ready to fight, his muscles tensed, and he stood up slowly. In one punch that could probably break a concrete wall into pieces, Tyler commenced his training.

“Sora telephone,” Sora’s mom called from the living room.

“Who is it?” Sora called back.

“It’s that Tai fellow.”

A loud crash followed by a few muffled groans escaped from the room. Sora’s mom sweat dropped. “Here she comes,” she said to Tai as Sora burst out of her room straightening the loose blue mini skirt she had on which flowed around her knees and tugging at her white denim vest over a light blue satin halter-top with a ruffled chest area, and a small bow just under the middle of the area. On her feet were white strap high heel sandals that showed her beautifully painted white toes, which matched her fingernails. Light red lipstick adorned her lips, and sky blue eye shadow covered her eyes. She took the phone from her mom was giving her a questioning look.

“I’ll tell you later,” she mouthed to her mom as she put the phone to her ear. “Hey Tai,” she said.

“Hey Sora, are you ready?” asked Tai.

“Yes. You’re on the way now?”

“Yep, I’ll be there in two minutes.”

“Okay. See you then.”

“Alrighty then,” Tai said, making Sora chuckle. She pressed the talk button to turn of the phone and gave it back to her mom.

“You’re going to a concert dressed like that?” she asked incredulously.

“Well…yeah,” Sora said with a grin. “It’s our friend, Matt’s concert. You know him, right?”

“Yes, the blond kid with the unusually tight jeans?”

“Yeah, him,” Sora said uneasily. “Don’t worry mom. More of my friends will be there, and they won’t let anyone or anything harm me…” ‘Especially Tai,’ she wanted to add, but decided not to.

“Well, just be careful, then,” her mom added when a knock sounded on the door.

“That’s him there,” Sora said grabbing her white leather purse from the table.

“You’re leaving now? I thought it didn’t start until seven thirty?”

“It does.”

“But it’s only six o’ clock.”

Sora shrugged. “What good is a date if he doesn’t show up early?” She grinned as she opened the door to an equally grinning Tai, who had on a light blue button down silk shirt with flame designs on the bottom with a white shirt underneath, dark blue jeans with the name Sean John etched in white under the opening of the right pocket, and white K-Swiss sneakers. They decided to dress in matching colors for tonight. Tai tried not to let his eyes wander Sora’s body, noticing his mom standing behind them with a stern look on her face.

“Ready lady?” Tai asked holding out a hand to Sora.

“Yes, gentleman,” Sora replied on a fake suave voice as she took his hand.

“What time is this concert over with?” Sora’s mom blurted out before they could escape.

“It’s over at nine,” Tai answered.

“I expect you to be home by eleven, Sora,” she said looking directly at Sora.

“I will, mom,” Sora replied feeling a little nervous under her look as she closed the door.

“That was scary,” said Tai as he held the car door open for Sora.

“You don’t know the half of it,” she replied as Tai started the car and drove off.

Sora’s mom sighed and turned to put the phone back on the hook when it rang. She pressed the talk button and put the phone to her ear. “Hello?”

“Hello to my favorite aunt!” said a strong feminine voice on the other line.

“Who’s this?” Sora’s mom asked cautiously.

“Who do you think?!” the voice said. “It’s you’re lovable niece!”

“Sara?” she asked turning slightly pale.

To be continued…

I might have rushed this first chapter, which might end up being kind of short…maybe. The next chapter should be longer though. I should be explaining the relationships later on in the chapters as the story goes, how they hooked up, who’s who, and so on. If you’ve read A-man’s Lover’s Island series (a great story by the way, and what inspired me to become a Daikari fan), you’ll know two of the characters. Why he stopped writing that story I still don’t know. If anyone finds out where he is slap him for me. Please R&R and stay tuned for the next chapter!
