Kiss Off

25 year-old Mimi Tachikawa grinned, her hazel eyes dancing around gleefully. She let out a laugh as she looked at Davis acting like an idiot. The whole DigiDestined group was just now hearing about T.k. and Kari going steady.

Mimi couldn't help it but she felt happiness for the two lovebirds but also some sympathy on Davis's side.

Davis felt his head aching, "I can't believe that you two are going out! Kari was my girl!"

Kari, her chestnut brown eyes burning with rage "Davis! Can you really be that selfish? If you love me, then let my go. I love T.k. and that's it!"

Davis sighed, "I know, Sorry." He looked at T.k. and with a grin he said, "Congratulations. Best man won."

T.k. smiled and held out his hand and Davis shook it. "Take care of her or I'm kicking your ass and I take her for myself," Davis added, grinning.

"Over my dead body," T.k. laughed and kissed Kari right there on the spot. Kari's cheeks turned a crimson red. There were whistles and 'Nice Kiss" and such.

Mimi shook her head and went over to console a heartbroken Davis. "Hey," Mimi placed an arm across the boy's shoulders, "There are other female people out there."

Davis sighed, "Yeah, I know. Thanks Mimi."

"No problem," Mimi smiled. Davis then said slyly, "How 'bout you and me? We'll run off together!"

"Sorry," Mimi laughed, "You're an infant!"

"Two or three years apart, doesn't matter! Young meat is good for your bones!"

"In your dreams, kid," Mimi laughed brushed her fingers through Davis's brown hair. Davis sighed and added jokingly, "At least I tried."

Mimi laughed again and she let go of Davis. She flashed Kari a smile, her heart aching at the sight of the two young kids. Sora, one of Mimi's best friends, stood next to her. "Love," Sora sighed, "A beautiful thing, don't ya' think?"

Mimi laughed, "I wouldn't know. Your talking to the girl who only attracts guys with 'All Brawn no Brains.' "

Sora showed a small smile. "You'll find someone," she said, "I know you will."

Mimi laughed, "I'm not really looking for love at this moment, Sora."

Sora sighed, "I miss that feeling."

Mimi looked at her friend and winced. "Oh Sora! I'm so stupid! I shouldn't have-"

Sora shrugged, "Hey, I'm the one who broke up with Matt, not you." Mimi grabbed Sora by her hands, "So! I still should have kept my mouth shut." Sora beamed at her friend, "Hey, it's okay. We just weren't working it out, okay?"

Mimi breathed out air, "Fine. Hey! There's Matt and Ti. I've been wanting to tell Ti about this girl that he likes."

Sora's eyes grew wide and she almost choked. "Girl? Ti… likes?" Mimi, not really understanding, laughed, "Ti is interested in other things rather than soccer, you know."

Sora pursed her lips, "Who is it?"

"Jasmine. The girl with the long blonde hair."

And curves and a chest as big as basketballs, Sora thought but didn't say.

Mimi glanced at Sora and her mouth almost dropped. "Your jealous!"

Sora's face turned in panic, "Jealous? Oh Mimi…" Sora bent her head, "I'm in love with Ti…"

"Ti!" Mimi laughed, took Sora by the hands, swung her in a circle, and hugged her. "I knew it. I always thought you did, even when we were kids!"

Sora blinked, "I always thought you liked him! So I never tried anything…"

Mimi sighed, "Ti's one of the greatest guys I know! Don't get me wrong, I love him," Mimi shook her head, "But he's not the one for me, however. We both know that."

Sora nodded and smiled, "Same here with Matt, he agreed that he felt the same way."

Mimi laughed, "I've got to run, though, and make up a story for Ti."

"Make up? But I thought Ti liked-"

Mimi lifted a finger for silence, "I said he liked but not loved."

"Mimi. What do you know?"

"Lips are sealed."

"Well," Sora sighed, "You can take those lips and kiss my butt."

"I knew you wanted me to be friends with for some reason." Mimi grinned as Sora laughed and punched Mimi playfully.

Matt spotted Mimi and Sora laughing together. He had heard about T.k. and Kari and he and Ti had just finished congratulating the newly lovebirds.

Matt didn't feel any weird with Sora after their breakup. They couldn't get past being friends, and he knew she was in love with Ti. She just didn't know it yet.

"Hey you two," Ti smiled and waved, "Have you said congrats to the couple?"

Mimi waved and slung her arms around Ti and smiled. "Get ready for love in the air, my good man, there's a lot going on around here."

Ti shook his head at his crazy friend, "Hey keep it up and you'll find yourself tied to one lucky guy." Mimi shook her head, "Nope. This girl is staying single, k?"

"Okay," Ti confirmed jokingly, "Marry me."

"Sorry," Mimi sighed, "Davis beat you to it but no, we are not marrying. I've decided to stay single and live to become an old maid."

Ti laughed and Mimi planted a kiss on his cheek, "You always were a sweetheart." Ti blushed, "God, Mimi, you really know how to rile a guy up. Ya' know?"

Mimi shrugged and giggled, "I'm born with the natural talent." Mimi looked at Sora, winked, and grabbed Matt by the hand. "Well, me and Matt were going to go to the store. Matt was going to buy me something for this project of mine. See ya'!"

Ti, remembering Jasmine, said, "Hey, what about-"

Mimi, still dragging a confused Matt, waved her hand behind her to dismiss Ti's remark. "Forget it," Mimi shouted, "Your to good for Jasmine! Gotta go!"

Mimi finally got her and Matt both away to Matt's car.

"Look," Mimi brushed a few strands of her, no-longer pink streaked, brown hair out of her eyes. "Lets go somewhere. While you drive, I explain."

Matt sighed and shook his head. Typical Mimi, always doing things that came to mind and not thinking it through. As Matt slid into the driver's seat, he could see Sora and Ti talking. His mind cleared, absorbed and then smiled.

"Oh," Matt told Mimi, "I see that the old maid has now turned into the Match Maker."

"Number One," Mimi cleared her throat, "Do you have a problem with Sora and Ti together?"

"Nope, I've always known they were meant for each other."

"Number two, repeat what you said before about me being an old maid."

"The old maid has now turned into the Match Maker."

"Kiss off, Ishida."

As Matt drove, Mimi talked long her trip in America. She had just come back the day before from collage in America. "It's nice to know that you've been doing great," Mat told his friend, "And I'm glad we got to meet in New York so we could catch up." Mimi took out a rubber band out of her skirt pocket and tied her hair up in a ponytail.

"Yeah, that was great."

Matt had been going to school in America also. Like everyone else (the old DigiDestined), they were going to school and came back for the summer. It was their finishing year and everyone couldn't wait to get their lives on.

Mimi was going to a Fashion Designing school in New York, Matt on a full-fledged scholarship to Yale. Izzy went to Harvard, Joe in a medical school in Arizona and abroad and Sora and Ti on a sports scholarship, Sora to Florida and Ti to Texas.

"I liked it in New York, the beautiful skyscrapers and Central Park is excellent," Matt said.

Mimi nodded, "Very. Did you ever visit Ti in Texas?"

Matt nodded, "Also very beautiful. Ti took me to one of those Rodeos and I met me a cowgirl!"

"Really? Interesting…"

"Don't get any ideas of matchmaking," Matt warned, "She's beautiful, smart-"

"What else," Mimi interrupted, "Great? Why didn't you-"

Matt laughed, "Happily married, three great kids and her husband's a giant! Seven feet of muscle."

"You are such wimp."

"Seven feet, Mimi, pure Man. And I capitalize the 'M' on Man."

Mimi laughed as they neared Mimi's rented apartment. Matt parked his car. Mimi yawned, "Hey, come one up Matt. I got this wine from a friend of mine from Italy. His family owns a vineyard."

"I see. Lets go up, get drunk."

"I was hoping we would," Mimi chuckled. She and Matt walked upstairs to her home. Matt could hear the T.V. going as he entered the living room area with Mimi.

"Damn," Mimi said, "Left it on."

Mimi turned off the T.V. while Matt headed into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. He knew exactly where everything was, Mimi usually held parties.

"Partridge Wine. I've heard about this company, they're rare. Only four caskets they make of this stuff, Cast Grape." Matt held the sine in his hands. "How'd ya' meet the guy?"

"Ethan Partridge, his sister Marie and I were friends. I didn't know that they owned Partridge. He and I went out for a while but we decided to stay friends. I hooked him up with Josephine Perez from Spain. They're engaged to marry next year, I'm one of the bridesmaids."

"Wow!" Matt took of the cork and poured himself some in a cup. "To think that you went out with one of the richest guys in the world."

"Hey," Mimi laughed, "Don't start! You went out with Kumi Win!"

Kumi Win was a popular Japanese singer.

Matt shrugged, "Can I help that I'm so handsome."

That had Mimi giving an unladylike snort. "Keep your head in control or it might just expand and blow up."

Matt mocked Mimi and Mimi threw her shoe at Matt.

"Hey," Matt shouted, "I've got nothing to defend myself!"

Matt put down his wine on the counter and went into the living room. "Wanna play, huh?" Matt raised a brow at Mimi.

Mimi, playing innocent, blinked. "Oh? So what are you going to do about it?" Matt's eyes glinted with amusement.

"Should I run?"

Matt shrugged, "I'll give you a ten second start."

Mimi ran out of the living room and hid under her bed. Matt, seeing this, quickly ran to her room. Mimi jumped up from under the bed and raced into the kitchen. With Matt in pursuit, he and Mimi circled the table. Mimi made a dash back into the living area. Before she knew, Matt backed her up in a corner.

Mimi started to laugh, "Okay! Okay! I give up! Have mercy, Matt, please!" Matt shook his head; "No way I'm going easy on you!" Matt slammed his hands against the wall so that he had Mimi trapped and nowhere to go.

Mimi felt her smile fade. She and Matt stayed the way they were for four minutes but felt as if it were eternity.

Matt quickly shook his head and backed away. "I say we got a little tipsy with the wine."

Mimi breathed heavily, "Tell me about it."

Matt, not daring to even look at Mimi, headed for the door. "Look," he said, "I'll see you tomorrow, k?"

Mimi watched him slowly, "Sure, see ya'."

Matt left through the door. Mimi shook her head, ran to the door and opened it.

"Hey Matt!" Mimi shouted out. Matt turned around, "What?"

"What was that about me being an old maid?"

Matt grinned, clearly understanding, said "Old maid? Sorry, your Majestic Beauty, Match Maker is what I meant." He knew that Mimi just wanted to keep their friendship together. It was the most important thing between them.

"Kiss Off, Ishida!"
