(Five)
(Daisuke's POV)
I blinked. Everything was black. It was just darkness. Nothing. Nothing but black.
"Where am I?" I asked.
"You are in the Realm of Darkness. No light can ever penetrate here." A voice said. FuegoDiaboromon.
"Why am I here?" I asked.
FuegoDiaboromon laughed. "Did you not hear me? Or did you think I was lying?" He asked me coldly.
"Where's Veemon?" I demanded.
"He is with my Master." He responded simply.
"And who might your Master be?" I asked.
He laughed again. "That is not important, Chosen Child. And now, I must leave you."
"What?!"
"As much as I would love to stay here and answer your most intelligent questions," he sneered. "I have some business to attend to. Enjoy your stay. I expect you'll be staying here for a very, very long time."
"No!" I yelled, my voice echoing. But whether he was really gone or just ignoring me, I did not know.
"So what do I do?" I asked myself. I checked my pockets for my D-Terminal. Nothing. My D-3 was gone, too.
I sighed. 'Great.' I sat down, and stared into the blackness. FuegoDiaboromon was right. There was no light here.
'What am I supposed to do?' I thought. 'Think happy thoughts, I guess.'
"Hikari. Soccer. Winning video games. Hikari. The beach. Volleyball on the beach." I said. I grinned. "Hikari on the beach playing volley ball."
~*~*~*~
(Taichi's POV)
I stared up at the ceiling.
'Great.' I thought.
Hikari had just told me of Davis and Veemon's kidnapping. I sighed. Things were just getting better and better.
'First Yamato knows that we never looked for him because of me, and now we have to deal with a psycho blast-from-the-past DigiNapper. Not to mention that new boy, Jim. And he's not even going to be able to help us! He was only visiting, and now he has to go back to Carolina! How can this get any worse?!' I sighed again.
"What are I going to do now?" I muttered.
"Well, nothing if you don't stop moping about." Hikari said, leaning on the door frame, a tissue in one hand.
"How long have you been there?" I asked her.
"Just got here. Listen, Taichi. You can't just leave everything up to us. I mean, you're older and wiser. Well, I'm not sure about the wiser part, but... Don't you have a secret backup plan?" She asked.
"Nah, I usually leave plans and stuff up to Ken and Koushiro."
"Well, then, that's who we need to talk to then. Maybe we should call all the others."
I nodded. "Yeah. You call Miyako, Iori, Ken, and Takeru. I'll get the rest."
"Right." She said, running to get the phone.
I closed my eyes. This is a big problem. A real big problem.'
~*~*~*~
(Hikari's POV)
I had just called Miyako, Iori, Takeru, and Ken, when my D-Terminal beeped.
"An E-mail."
"When are you ever not getting any?" Gatomon asked.
"It says: 'DigiDestined, we have your friend. Surrender now, or you will ...never see him again.'"
"Uh-oh!"
"Uh-oh is right, Gatomon. Now we really need to figure out what to do."
"Right!" Gatomon agreed, nodding.
It was a little while later before everyone came. I read the E-mail to them. Miyako, Iori, Takeru, and Ken nodded.
"We received the same E-mail on our D-Terminals." Iori said.
"Who did the E-mail come from, though?" Mimi asked.
"Well, it would more than likely come from FuegoDiaboromon or his fabled 'Master'." Ken said.
"A good observation, but there's only one small problem. Take a look at the return address of the E-mail. That E-mail came from Daisuke." Koushiro stated.
Ken nodded. "Yes, but isn't it obvious? FuegoDiaboromon would not want him to communicate with the outside world. Take away his D-Terminal, and his Digivice, and Daisuke is left without any means of communication or escape. He's basically trapped like a rat."
"Which would mean that we couldn't follow the signal of his Digivice, because it would lead straight into a trap for us." Koushiro said.
"Yes. That wouldn't be a good idea, because we don't know exactly what we are up against. The only thing we know is that FuegoDiaboromon is strong, and his 'Master' is going to be even stronger."
"And FuegoDiaboromon could also be any Digimon. Remember the Flymon?" Koushiro asked.
"Yes, that is a problem. So we have to be a lot more careful."
"We need to figure this out fast, then. Really fast."
Ken nodded, now silent. If I didn't know any better, I'd have said that they were competing to see who could get the last word in.
"So... What exactly is the plan?" Taichi asked, breaking the silence.
"Um..."
We looked at each other. No one, it seemed, knew what to do. An uneasy silence filled the room again. Just then, Yamato came in. I sneezed.
"I'll be back. I need to take my cold pills." I said, heading to the bathroom.
I looked in the mirror. 'Yamato's here! I don't believe it! This is just so amazing!' I thought. I took my medicine, and headed back to the group.
"So, you don't know where he'd take Daisuke?" Taichi asked Yamato.
Yamato shook his head as I sat back down. "Not really. They basically abandoned the prison, and they know we know where it is. Which is why they're probably not going to go there." He stated.
"Well, that means we're back at square one again." Miyako sighed.
"Wait. Yamato, didn't you say that you were questioned before they locked you away?" I asked, a thought coming to my mind.
"Yeah, but why would..." Yamato started before trailing off. Then, his eyes grew wide. "Of course! Hikari, you're right! Before I was tossed in that cell, they questioned me in this huge hall of some sort. Then someone said to lock me away. A Digimon guard grabbed me, and I was dragged outside of the hall. It used some sort of teleportation attack, and the next thing I knew, he was locking the door on my cell." He recalled.
"So, you're saying Daisuke could be ...somewhere else?" Sora asked.
Yamato looked at her and nodded. "Yeah. That's exactly what I'm saying."
"Okay. So where do we look for him? The Digi World's a pretty big place." Jyou stated.
"Well, even though we know its a trap, we could probably look for him using the Digivice signal. It's the only chance we have right now." Taichi said.
Yamato nodded. "I really don't think there's any other way. What do you guys think? Should we go?" He asked.
The rest of us nodded. "But... I don't think you should go, Yamato. You're still too weak." I said.
"Hey, I can handle myself." He protested.
"No. Hikari's got a point. But that also brings up another point. Hikari, you have a cold, so you should stay home. And I'm not going to take no for an answer." Taichi said.
'How typical. Oh, well, he is my brother after all.' I thought. "Okay." I sighed.
"Good. Now, when should we go?" My brother asked.
"Tomorrow, if nobody has any plans." Jyou said.
We nodded. "I'm gonna have to sit this one out." Takeru started. "As much as I'd like to help you guys, I have to spend some time with my brother." He said.
Taichi nodded. "Okay, so Hikari, Yamato, and Takeru are staying here, while the rest of us go. All right, then!"
~*~*~*~
"Good luck, guys!" I said.
"See ya!"
"Kick FuegoDiaboromon's butt for me if you get the chance!" Yamato laughed.
"No problem!" Taichi said as he was transported to the Digital World.
"So, how are we going to spend our weekend?" Patamon asked.
"Video games, TV, and food!" Takeru said joyously.
I sighed. "Typical male. Only thinking of food and fun."
"Hey!" He protested. Yamato laughed.
"Okay, well, I am a little hungry, so lets see what we have in my big bag o' food." Yamato said, opening his backpack. He pulled out a couple bottles of mineral water, lots of vegetables like carrots, celery, and sliced peppers, a couple small bags of chips, and orange soda.
"Barbecue! All right!" Takeru exclaimed.
I smiled. "Cool. I love orange soda."
"Great. So ...what's on TV today?"
"A couple soccer games, a few horror movies, nothing much." Takeru answered.
"I brought a few movies." I said, holding up my backpack.
"Uh-oh... If those movies are... They are." He said, looking at the movies I had brought. "Armageddon, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Deep Blue Sea, and The Matrix." He sighed.
"What's wrong with them? They all sound interesting enough." Yamato said, chomping on a celery stick.
"Yeah, they are all interesting, but almost all of them are romance." Takeru explained.
"Well, uh ...that's ...interesting, I guess... What are they about?"
"Armageddon is about an asteroid that, if it hits earth, would destroy the entire planet, and these oil drillers have to try and stop it by drilling a hole and dropping the bomb into it, but it's not that easy." I explained.
"Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon we haven't watched yet, but it's supposed to be an action/adventure and romance, like Armageddon." Takeru told him.
"Deep Blue Sea is about these intelligent sharks who attack some scientists. It gets kinda bloody, but with shark movies, that always happens." I said.
"And The Matrix is this cool action movie that's about three hours long. If it weren't for the romance bit at the end, it would have been perfect." Takeru said.
"Woah. Um, okay, so, what movie do you guys want to see first?" Yamato asked.
"Armageddon."
"The Matrix."
"Oh... Now we have a problem..." He laughed.
Takeru sighed. "Okay, we'll go with the shorter movie first. We'll have to squeeze a little bit, the couch is kinda small." Takeru said.
I put in the movie, and hopped to the middle of the couch. Takeru grabbed the remote, and fast-forwarded through the previews.
~*~*~*~
I sniffled as the movie ended, the sad memories still playing in my mind.
"You okay?" Yamato asked me.
I nodded. "Yes, I'm fine." I said, watching the music video over Takeru's snores.
"Okay." He said, turning back to the TV. The music video ended, and he got up to put it into the rewinder. "We really need to get a DVD player." He said as he put in The Matrix. Luckily, there were no previews to fast-foward through, because I had taped it off the TV.
It was a rainy day, and I was feeling groggy. The cold medicine I was taking made me feel even more tired. Yamato sat back down and we watched the movie, Takeru still sleeping. I felt my eyelids droop, as I slowly fell asleep, leaning slightly on Yamato.
~*~*~*~
(Yamato's POV)
I woke up as the credits started rolling. I didn't remember much of the movie, so I guess I had fallen asleep. By the looks of it, so had Takeru and Hikari. Takeru was snoring loudly, and Hikari...
Hikari was leaning on my shoulder, her hand on my lap, sleeping peacefully.
'She looks so nice like that... She's changed, a lot...' I thought, looking at her. Hikari stirred.
"Hm..? Oh, sorry." She said, moving her hand. She blushed.
"Hey, it's okay." I said, trying to speak over Takeru's snores.
She nodded and removed the movie.
"Are you getting hungry?" I asked her. She nodded.
"Yeah, I think I am. Let's get a snack." She said, heading towards the kitchen. I followed her, and grabbed some carrots off the table. I started to cut the leafy end of it, when...
"Aah! Oh, man..." I muttered.
"Here..." Hikari said, putting my hand under running water. The bleeding soon stopped.
"Oh, thanks." I said softly, looking in her eyes. We stood there like that, my hand in hers, for what seemed like forever. For a moment it seemed as though we were moving closer together.
Time resumed when Hikari moved away suddenly.
"No problem." She whispered, finishing cutting my carrots for me.
I leaned against the counter watching her peel the skin off the carrots. Soon, she had gotten my carrots perfectly cut.
"Thanks again." I said gently.
She nodded, pouring some soda for herself. I got some water and gulped down most of it. Takeru walked in sluggishly.
"Hey." He muttered groggily, walking to the bathroom.
I grinned and followed Hikari back to the living room and sat back down, flipping through the channels. "So, what's good to watch?" I asked her. There wasn't any answer, so I looked at her. "Hikari?" I asked. She sat there, watching me. Suddenly, as if pulling herself out of a trance, she shook her head.
"Sorry. What ...did you say?"
I smiled. "Nothing. It's okay."
She nodded and leaned closer, putting her head on my shoulder. I leaned against her, and wrapped my arm around her.
I think this chapter was a little bit longer than the others... Hm...
Well, anyways, in the next chapter...
Does red go with pink? Mimi knows!
More on Daisuke... But why is Miyako with him?
A strange maze... Can the DigiDestined solve it in time?
