(Six)
(Taichi's POV)
We entered the Digital World filled with courage.
"You know, maybe this isn't such a good idea." Palmon said, warily
We were filled with determination.
"Does anyone actually KNOW where we're going?" Jyou asked.
We had enough provisions to last a life time.
"Where's the food?" Miyako wondered.
"The Digimon ate it..." Ken sighed.
Everyone was having quiet conversations.
"No, no, NO! Red will NEVER, and has NEVER! GONE! WITH! PINK!" Mimi yelled.
It was perfect... Sort of.
Okay, maybe we weren't the most organized team. But we were ready to face any dangers that lay in our path. Whether it was FuegoDiaboromon, or his fabled 'Master', we would stop at nothing to get back Daisuke, and Veemon.
"The signal is coming from this direction." Iori stated.
Koushiro nodded. "I'd say it's about five miles past the prison."
Ken sighed. "Which is approximately twenty miles from our current location."
"Well, then, we just have to get there faster." Gomamon said.
I nodded. "Right."
"Agumon, Warp Digivolve to... WarGreymon!"
"Biyomon, Digivolve to... Birdramon!"
"Gomamon, Digivolve to... Ikkakumon!"
"Tentomon, Digivolve to... Kabuterimon!"
"Palmon, Digivolve to... Togemon!"
"Hawkmon, Digivolve to... Aquilamon!"
"Armadillomon, Digivolve to... Ankylomon!"
"Wormmon, Digivolve to... Stingmon!"
"Birdramon, Digivolve to... Garudamon!"
"Ikkakumon, Digivolve to... Zudomon!"
"Kabuterimon, Digivolve to... MegaKabuterimon!"
"Togemon, Digivolve to... Lillymon!"
Our Digimon rand and flew through the desert swiftly. A half-hour later into the ride, we passed the prison.
"Okay, guys, get ready for battle! We'll be there soon!" I called out.
The others nodded. Two minutes later, the entire area went from being a hot, dry desert, to a cold and chilling one. And it wasn't a normal type of cold. It was like this horrible feeling of dread that just infested your body, and made you shiver from the inside out. As we approached the signal, it got colder and colder, and then, the entire desert turned a nightmarish black color, and the sky darkened to a deep black with no stars to light the sky.
"Great..." Mimi sighed. Sora nodded, shivering noticeably.
We walked around, trying to pinpoint the signal. We hadn't gone more than ten steps to the north when all of our Digimon DeDigivolved at once.
"What happened? Why did you guys De-Digivolve?" Miyako asked Hawkmon.
"Good question. Well, Agumon?" I asked.
"All of our power is gone. It just got zapped away." Biyomon said.
"I'll bet FuegoDiaboromon has something to do with this." Iori stated.
Mimi nodded. "So... Are we going to go?"
"Definitely. We've come this far. We have to keep going." I told them.
"I just wish we could DNA Digivolve. Things might be a little bit easier, you know?" Ken announced glumly.
"Well, either way it doesn't matter. The Digimon's energy is gone. We should conserve our strength and walk for now." Jyou said.
"That's good, because I'm tired." Armadillomon told us. The other Digimon nodded.
~*~*~*~
(No one's POV)
"Master... The DigiDestined have arrived... What do you want us to do?" A small, evil creature hissed.
"Do not attack them directly. I think a more ...devious ...approach is necessary. Send the labyrinth, fill it with guards of all shapes, sizes, and level. Separate them from one another, make the turn traitor. Do what pleases you, but do not attack them directly."
"But... Why not, Master?" The creature stuttered.
"Because that, Makanimon, is what they are expecting."
"Oh... I see... Yes, Master! I will go at once!"
"Good..." He grinned.
~*~*~*~
(Taichi's POV)
We walked on, for about an hour, when a rumbling filled the air. The ground started to shake as something like walls came up from the ground.
"What's going on?" Mimi shrieked.
Walls came up and surrounded us, and then moved upward to become a ceiling.
"We're trapped!" Tentomon said.
"Maybe not. It appears to be some sort of maze that we're stuck in." Ken said.
"A maze?" Wormmon wondered.
"To be more precise," Koushiro started. "A labyrinth."
"What's the difference?" I asked him.
"A labyrinth is a bigger, more challenging maze, with traps, monsters, and the such."
"Great." Sora sighed.
"Well, let's go in." I said.
"Are you sure?" Iori asked.
"What other choice do we have? It's our only option. Unless you want to just sit here and rot." I told him.
"Well, when you put it that way... Let's go!"
We walked up to the beginning, and were about to go through, when-
"Halt! I am Stalamon! Beware entering the labyrinth! Once you have entered, you can not exit until you have finished it!" Stalamon said.
"I don't know if we should trust this guy. Stalamon may be an In-Training, but he's a master of tricks and riddles. And let's not forget the fact that he's a Virus-type Digimon!" Tentomon said.
Stalamon nodded. "That may be, but you have little choice. I am merely a messenger sent to warn you of what lies in wait for you. Even if you knew the direct path through the maze, you would have to get past the Digimon guards, and solve the riddles. Some Digimon guards also have special challenges you must be able to do."
"What if we can't do them?" Sora asked.
Stalamon grinned evilly. "I am but a messenger. I only know what I am told."
"You're a big load of help!" Palmon shouted.
Stalamon laughed. "Remember what I have said, DigiDestined." He said. Stalamon gave a sinister laugh, and disappeared in a flash of black light, his laugh still ringing throughout the air.
"So... What do we do now?" Jyou asked.
"Well... I guess we go in... And be very careful." I said slowly.
Sora nodded. "You're right, Taichi." She smiled. "Let's go!"
We walked through the gate, and as we did, it slammed shut.
"Well, at least we're all through." Mimi said.
"Not quite. Iori and Armadillomon are stuck back there!" Miyako said.
"Great! Already something goes wrong!" Jyou moaned. "Well, which way do we go? Left, or right?"
"Why don't us girls go right, and you boys go left. We'll report back here in about ten minutes." Sora suggested.
"I don't like it, but ... Okay." I said. I watched as Miyako, Sora, and Mimi walked off to the right.
"Be careful, Sora." I whispered to her, even though I knew she couldn't hear me. "Well, let's get going." I said to Ken, Jyou, and Koushiro. They nodded, and I led them down the left tunnel. We reached the end about three minutes later.
"Halt!" Five identical Digimon shouted. "We are TamedSkullGreymon! If you wish to pass, you must defeat us in battle. We are of the Ultimate level. If you wish to pass, you must Digivolve now!" They said.
"Well, no... We won't try to pass just now... Let's go check Sora and the others." I said, walking away. We saw Sora, Mimi, and Miyako chatting easily.
"So, how did it go?" Jyou asked.
"Well, we had to fight a couple battles... But it was worth it. There's only one way to go, now, and that's your way, unless you have some other news for us." Sora said.
"We couldn't go far, because we were blocked off by these five Ultimates. They acted really weird..." Ken said.
"Talking simultaneously and asking to battle?" Miyako asked.
I nodded. "Yeah, exactly."
"That's how the Digimon guards were to us, as well. It's kinda strange how they acted." Mimi stated.
"Well, I guess there's only one more place left to go." Koushiro said.
I nodded. "To the left." 'And to battle.' I added as a thought.
~*~*~*~
"If you wish to pass, you must Digivolve now!"
"Agumon, Warp Digivolve to... WarGreymon!"
"Biyomon, Digivolve to... Birdramon!"
"Tentomon, Digivolve to... Kabuterimon!"
"Palmon, Digivolve to... Togemon!"
"Gomamon, Digivolve to... Ikkakumon!"
"Hawkmon, Digivolve to... Aquilamon!"
"Wormmon, Digivolve to... Stingmon!"
"Birdramon, Digivolve to... Garudamon!"
"Kabuterimon, Digivolve to... MegaKabuterimon!"
"Togemon, Digivolve to... Lillymon!"
"Ikkakumon, Digivolve to... Zudomon!"
"Terra Force!"
"Phoenix Claw!"
"Darkness Wave!"
"Horn Buster!"
"Flower Cannon!"
"Darkness Wave!"
"Vulcan's Hammer!"
"Grand Horn!"
"Dark ...ness ...Wave..."
"Spiking Strike!"
The last of the TamedSkullGreymons were deleted, and we were free to pass.
Our Digimon did not DeDigivolve, because we thought we would have to fight again. We turned the corner, and were faced with another Digimon.
"I am DarknessWizardmon, and I have a riddle for you. You have two guesses. If you guess correctly, you may pass. If you guess incorrectly, you shall not be allowed to pass."
"Sounds okay."
"In marble halls as whit as milk,
Lined with a skin as soft as silk,
Within a fountain crystal-clear,
A golden apple doth appear.
No doors there are to this stronghold,
Yet thieves break in and steal the gold."
Ken and Koushiro smiled. "Do you want to answer, Koushiro, or shall I?"
"Go ahead, Ken."
"Thank you. The answer, DarknessWizardmon, is an egg."
DarknessWizardmon gave a soft chuckle. "You are correct. That was an easy one. The riddles will be harder as you go along." He said, disappearing in a puff of black smoke.
"Well, looks like we get to go on." Mimi said.
Jyou nodded. We travel north for a while, made a turn to the east, and came to...
"More guards." Koushiro sighed.
"Halt! We are FirePuppetmon! If you wish to pass, you must first complete our challenge. Then you must defeat us in battle! We are of the Mega level. If you wish to pass, listen to our challenge." The first one said.
The other FirePuppetmon started to speak. "Our challenge is this! You must stick out your tongue, and touch your nose!"
"What are we, a bunch of anteaters? That's impossible!" Miyako shouted.
"Oh, is it? Flame Forest Drop!" The first one attacked. The ground underneath Miyako opened up, and she fell. Aquilamon dove to catch her.
"Miyako!" Koushiro shouted, but the ground had already closed.
"Does anyone else think it is impossible?" The FirePuppetmon asked with a sneer.
"What happened to her?" Koushiro demanded.
"She failed the challenge. She had to be penalized." They said, sinister smirks on their faces.
Koushiro balled up his fists, shaking with rage. "Let her go." He said.
The FirePuppetmon laughed. "No, no, no! We can't do that! That would be against the rules!"
"What are the rules?" Jyou asked.
"Telling the rules is against the rules! But here's a hint: Saying you can not do it, is just as bad as not doing it."
Koushiro gave a low growl in anger. I was surprised. Koushiro was not one to get angry, and now he was like a raging bull.
"If we complete your challenge, will you free Miyako?" Ken asked.
"You won't know until you try, now will you?" They said mysteriously.
Ken narrowed his eyes, and annoyedly stuck out his tongue. He reached up with one hand and touched his nose.
The FirePuppetmon growled. "Fine. You've completed the challenge. Now, you fight!"
"What about Miyako?!" Koushiro yelled.
"What about her?" They asked.
"Don't play dumb! You said you would let her go if we completed your challenge." I yelled.
"No, we said that you wouldn't know if we would free her unless you tried to complete the challenge." The first one laughed.
"Flame Forest!" The second attacked. We dodged quickly.
"Terra Force!"
"Wing Blade!"
"Horn Buster!"
The first one was deleted, the second one got nervous.
"Last chance to get Miyako out of there. Let her go!" Koushiro yelled.
"That's against the rules! Forest Fire!"
"Vulcan's Hammer!"
"Flower Cannon!"
"Spiking Strike!" The last FirePuppetmon disappeared with a shriek.
Koushiro dropped to his knees. "Miyako..."
"It's all right, Koushiro." Sora said gently.
"No, it's not. Miyako was my best friend. And now..." He choked.
"Come on, we'll get her back." I told him. Koushiro nodded, and got up.
"Let's go." He said.
~*~*~*~
(Miyako's POV)
"Don't worry, Miyako! I've got you." Aquilamon said, catching me.
"Thanks. Where are we?"
"I'm not sure. But I sense a great evil here. Don't you?"
"Yeah. It's so dark here... Why? I mean, I can't see anything. Just black..."
"Yes... I remember now! This is the Realm of Darkness. No light has ever been able to come here." Aquilamon explained.
"Then how were you able to catch me, if there was no light to see me?" I asked.
"I'm not sure. It was as though I could still see you, even though ...I couldn't."
"That makes no sense, but thanks again."
"You're welcome. ...We've landed." He said after a while.
"Really? Great." I said, hopping off. We started walking, my hand on Aquilamon's back so I wouldn't get lost.
~*~*~*~
"Hikari. Ice cream sundaes. Soccer practice in the morning. Swimming." We heard.
"What's that?" Aquilamon asked.
"Hikari. Soccer. Playing in the sand. Eating cookies. Hikari."
"Sounds like Daisuke. Come on, Aquilamon, let's go!"
"Right! Hop on!"
Aquilamon raced to the source of the sound. Unfortunately, he ran over Daisuke in the process.
"Miyako, I think your Digimon hates me." He said, probably thinking about Halsemon's badly-aimed Tempest Wing attack.
"I've said sorry." Aquilamon protested.
"Yeah, I know. So, what happened?"
"Do you want the long version or the short version?"
"Short is fine." He said.
"Okay. Everybody decided to come looking for you, but this evil labyrinth popped up, filled with evil Digimon. We were probably in the center of the maze, when these weird Digimon appeared. I couldn't do their stupid challenge, so I got sent to this crazy place. Aquilamon and I were walking when we heard you. We started to look for you, which brings us up to now." I explained.
"Wow... Hey, do you still have your D-Terminal?" He asked me.
"Yes, I do. Why?"
"Send an E-mail to the others, they'll know what to do."
"One problem. Even if we got the E-mail sent, we couldn't read their response."
"What about the voice mail option? That may work." Aquilamon suggested.
"Great idea!"
After a long time, I finally found the voice mail option.
"Koushiro, I'm okay. Aquilamon is to."
"Don't forget me!" Daisuke said.
"Right. I found Daisuke. Aquilamon says we're in the Realm of Darkness. We're going to need help getting out of here, there's no light. Hurry through the labyrinth as fast as you can! Be careful, and good luck!"
"Say hello to Hikari for me, too!" Daisuke called.
"Daisuke, you just said hi."
"Really? Oh, okay. Well, hi Hikari! I'm okay!"
"Aren't you forgetting, Miyako? Hikari is at home with Yamato and Takeru."
"WHAT?! Takeru's with Hikari?!"
A deep rumbling noise filled the air.
"What's that?"
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Daisuke isn't allowed to have visitors." A strange voice said.
"Grand Horn!" Aquilamon attacked.
"Hmm... You are crippled by the blackness. That's too bad, I would have enjoyed a challenge. Though, if I wanted a challenge, I wouldn't be fighting YOU. Heh heh... Darkness' Shadow!"
A cold, sinking feeling came over me. It was like a terrible feeling of dread. As though I would never get home, or see my friends and family again. It was a deep sadness, a terrible grief. It was just so overwhelming.
I sank down to the floor, crying.
"Miyako? Hey, Miyako, what's wrong?" Daisuke asked.
"So said..." I managed to say.
"It's that Digimon's attack. Darkness' Shadow fills an opponent with deep sorrow." Parurumon said, sniffling. Parurumon is the Baby -or Fresh- form of Hawkmon.
I felt myself get picked up, and I knew I was being carried away by the enemy. But who cares? I was just so sad because of all of this.
"Miyako! Miyako!" I heard Daisuke. His cries were getting farther and farther away.
The last thing I heard was the faint sound of my D-Terminal, and the Computer-voice saying 'Your message has been sent.'
~*~*~*~
(Taichi's POV)
We were just taking a break from everything, when a beeping sound came from Koushiro's laptop.
"Hm? A voice mail. From... Miyako!" He said, opening it. We all listened as it started to play.
<<Koushiro, I'm okay. Aquilamon is too.>>
<<Don't forget me!>>
"She's found Daisuke!" Ken said. Koushiro shushed him.
<<Right. I found Daisuke. Aquilamon says that we're in the Realm of Darkness. We're going to need help getting out of here, there's no light. Hurry through the labyrinth as fast as you can! Be careful, and good luck!>>
<<Say hello to Hikari for me, too!>>
<<Daisuke, you just said hi.>>
<<Aren't you forgetting, Miyako? Hikari's at home with Yamato and Takeru.>>
"Aquilamon shouldn't have said that..." Sora said.
<<WHAT?! Takeru's with Hikari?!>> We winced from the volume of Daisuke's scream. I expected to hear a snappy comeback from Miyako, but instead I heard a deep rumbling.
<<What's that?>>
A new voice, deep, evil, and cruel spoke. <<Tsk, tsk, tsk. Daisuke isn't allowed to have visitors.>>
<<Grand Horn!>>
<<Hmm... You are crippled by the blackness. That's too bad, I would have enjoyed a challenge. Though, if I wanted a challenge, I wouldn't be fighting YOU. Heh heh... Darkness' Shadow!>>
I heard a soft sniffling noise. It was Miyako crying.
<<Miyako? Miyako, what's wrong?>>
<<So sad...>>
<<It's that Digimon's attack. Darkness' Shadow fills an opponent with deep sorrow.>>
"That's Parurumon." Mimi said.
<<Miyako! Miyako! Miyako, no! Listen, that evil Digimon just took Miyako. You guys are going to have to hurry, I don't know where he's taking her. You've got to hurry!>>
<<Dark->>
<<What the..? Listen, I don't know if->>
<<ness'>>
<<this will go through. Just hurry up,>>
<<Sha->>
<<okay?>>
<<dow!>>
<<Oh.....>>
"That's all there is to the message..." Mimi started. "But... What happened?"
"I'm not sure..." I said.
"Guys! Guys!" A voice rang out.
"Iori! What happened?"
"Well... After we got separated, Digimon started to drill our way out of there. It took a long time for us to get out." He explained. He looked at all of us. "What happened? And where's Miyako and Hawkmon?"
I sighed.
~*~*~*~
Iori was shook up. He had been a close friend of Miyako as well.
"What... Do we do?" He asked finally.
"What do you mean, what do we do? There's only one thing we CAN do!" I yelled. "Oh, God, I just wish I wasn't the one who had to say it." I muttered.
"Taichi..." Sora said gently.
"No. Listen, someone else lead. I can't make these decisions anymore."
"Taichi, listen to me. You have to be the one who decides for us."
"No! Every time I make a decision to keep going, something bad happens... First Yamato... Now Miyako... I don't want to see anyone else hurt."
"Taichi, you have to be the leader." Sora persisted.
"Why?"
"Because we need you, Taichi. We need you to be strong for us. We need you and your Courage to lead us. We need you, Taichi. I need you." She said, looking into my eyes.
"You do?"
"Yes, Taichi. I need you."
"Then, let's go... And stop them before anything else happens..." I said, finding new strength.
Hm... Well, that sums up this chapter! How'd you all like it?
Well, anyways, in the next chapter...
We return back to Yamato and Hikari... But what's up with Takeru?
Just WHERE did Miyako get taken to?
And will the DigiDestined ever make it out of the Labyrinth in time to stop FuegoDiaboromon's Master?!
All this and more on the next Digimon: Digital Monsters!
Okay, technically, I've already finished the story. I just need to type it. ^_^!! Yeah, I know, I know... I really should type more often. ^_^!!
Um... If you have any questions on this or other chapters, just ask me! ^_^
Please R&R! But no flames, though... Aw, okay. Go ahead and flame me, I'll need em to help make the bonfire with Agumon, Phoenixmon, Guilmon, Zhuqiaomon, and Impmon. ^_~
