Chapter Fourteen: My Night in Shining Armor

"Okay," said Daisuke walking in, "What's so important that you had to have me come when I'm right in the middle of training."

"Takato's birthday is tomorrow ..."

"That's great. How hold is he going to be?" Taichi asked.

"12."

"Well, we'll have to do something special for him." Takeru said slapping his hands together.

"I know and I have a good Idea."

"What's that?" Iori asked.

"Lee."

"What? Takato's birthday is tomorrow?"

"Not so loud ...."

"Why didn't you tell me?" Lee responded. "I thought he told you ...."

"What makes you think that?" Lee asked over his shoulder. "we only known each other for a short time and you think he would share that information? I didn't think so."

"Then it's settled then," Said Cathleen from door way as they both turned to see her and Ruki, "we'll leave in an hour."

"Yea ... but ..."

"Lee, I know how much you care about him and I'm doing everything I can to keep him from getting hurt."

"I know, and I appreciate it."

"I know."

Takato walked to the balcony shivering a little ting the string around his waist into a not rubbing his own arms as he gazed that the stares. Being here didn't mind him to much but he still felt like a stranger and he still hasn't gotten use to being treated like an equal. He was always use to being treated like not like this. Takato up his chin in his hand leaning his elbow onto the railing; a tear slowly coming down his face, pain starting to presser its way to the top.

"Why do things have to be this way?" He shouted pure anger in his eyes.

"Tell me!! Is it so hard to love?"

"Takato?" Came a small voice

It was Juri with a worried look on her face. He immediately calmed down as she walked up, she didn't look no better than he did.

"I'm sorry if I woke you .... uh ... Juri ... are all right?"

" ---- do you think that we'll ever be able to come home?"

"I don't Juri ... I just don't know." was all he could say.

A girl with pink hair, brown eyes full of life lead the birthday boy down the hallway, she couldn't help but giggle as she. I wounded why she's full of smiles today, he thought as they came to a door. Once she opened it, darkness was all he could see. The girl put her hands on his shoulders and gently pushed him into the darkness

And ....

"Surprise!!"

Takato merely jumped out of skin as the shades where drawn and everyone came out of their hiding place's. They all lead him to the table that had some presence and a two layer cake waiting for him.

"Well, make a wish!" Mimi squealed excitedly.

The birthday boy looked at everyone with a fake smile on his face. Everyone was there but Lee, that made Takato even lonelier than before. He sighed, turned and headed out the door leaving everyone very worried. Cathleen ran after him to catch him in the hallway.

"Takato, you do not have to open your presence or eat the cake but someone is waiting for you as we speak ...."

"Just tell that person I'm not in the mode."

"Come one Takato ..... it won't hurt ...."

Cathleen gently grabbed his wrist and pulled him down the hallway. Kenta poked his head out to see her leading his friend down the hallway with a grin on this face. He's going to be surprised when he finds out who's waiting for him. He thought still grinning.

"All right," She said stopping to a halt to two bubble doors, "close your eyes."

"Why?" "It's a surprise."

Takato sighed and closed his eyes. She waved her hand to see if he would flinch but he didn't. She opened the door took his hand and led him in and stopped after taking three feet.

"You can open your eyes now."

He slowly opened his eyes and there he stood with a smile on his face. Takato staggered toward Lee not believing that was really him. He hands reached out touching his master's face. Yep, he was real all right. The young boy rested his head on his master's chest as put his arms around his waist. Cathleen gave Lee the thumbs up before she left feeling very humble.

They both laid there on the bed, Takato lying horizontal and Lee lying on his side sporting half of his upper body with his elbow as he ran his fingers through his slave's hair. Takato rolled over so that he was facing his master bring his face closer to him and kissed him on the lips.

"Lee, I love you."

Takato could feel Lee smile their lips still touching.

"I love you too."

Silence.

"Lee?"

"Yea ..."

"When do you think we can come home?"

"I don't know Takato-chan." Lee answered, hearing his love sigh. "When it's safe for you to come back."

"We won't be able to come back home."

"Takato-chan, don't think that. When it's safe you and the others will be able to come home. Now try to get some sleep."
