Teena: *flashes a v-sign* My first 02 fic. I'm so proud of myself.
Ken: Finally, I get to do the job you got me for.
Teena: That 01 angst fic was YOUR idea totally, you have no room to fuss
about it. *grins* Anyway, I'm messing with my brother... He is NOT as
dumb as he acts, by the way.
Ken: He can't be, to do this...
Teena: Evil Daisuke, the great joy of my existence! *sparklesparkle*
Right after Taito and Kensuke lemons, I mean...
Yamato: *sighs* Since she seems to have forgotten... Teena does NOT own
Digimon. I'm not sure whether to thank God or curse him for that...
Taichi: *looks sourly at some of Teena's other fics* Taito or not, I'm
thanking God.
Princeling
Daisuke bounced off the soccer field, tossing a quick wave to his team
mates. Idly, he worked out where the other Digidestined would probably
be.
'Lessee... Miyako's got Computer Club, Iori's got kendo practice... Ken's
probably getting out of soccer practice about now... Takeru and Hikari...
Well, I know they do SOMETHING after school, but I don't know what, so
I don't know where they are. Somewhere on the school grounds.'
As Daisuke headed for the gate off the school grounds, he caught a flash
of blond hair behind a large tree. Curious, Daisuke quietly made his way
over. He suppressed a gasp as he watched Takeru and Hikari kiss behind
the tree. His eyes went cold and angry at the sight as the two pulled
apart.
"I'm surprised Daisuke hasn't shown up yet... He has the worst timing."
"Hikari, when are you going to tell him we're dating?"
"I don't know," Hikari replied softly, looking at the ground. Daisuke
turned and stalked away, his face blank, showing none of the rage that
was in his eyes. His thoughts were racing as he headed home.
'I don't believe her. She thinks I like her, and she's just stringing
me along. It would be cruel even if she knew I wasn't really interested.
To think, I was hesitating. I thought maybe I didn't need to go through
with it. That's IT, I leave TODAY. I can finish the details on the go.
I'm not waiting any longer.'
In Tamachi, Ken climbed aboard the train to Odaiba, muffling a chuckle
as his backpack let out a quiet squawk at the jostling. He sat down in
a seat and put the backpack on his lap, leaning over it to whisper.
"Quiet, Minomon, backpacks don't usually talk."
Minomon peered out the partly open top at his human partner, replying
quietly. "Backpacks don't bruise, either, but I do!"
Ken smiled faintly, hushing the little Digimon as some of the other
people on the train looked at him curiously. He looked at them with a
look of total innocence, and most of them went back to their own pursuits.
As soon as the doors opened at the Odaiba station, Ken darted out and
up the stairs onto the sidewalks of Odaiba.
"Slow down, Ken-chan," Minomon pleaded, voice vibrating from the bouncing
about he was enduring.
"Gomen, Minomon, but I have to hurry. It takes forever to pry Daisuke out,
and we don't want to be late for the meeting again," Ken replied, still
running easily. Minomon sighed with resignation. Ken took a sharp left
and crossed the street to Daisuke's apartment building, heading straight
for the elevator. He pushed the floor button and relaxed against the
back wall.
"So, when are you going to tell him?"
"Tell who what?" Ken asked innocently. Minomon glared up at him cutely.
"When are you going to tell Daisuke you like him?!"
"I'm not, and you're not, either. He likes Hikari, you know that."
"Yeah, but Hikari likes Takeru. So Daisuke can be with you!"
"It's not that simple, Minomon," Ken said with a sigh as the doors opened.
"Just drop it."
Ken walked down the hall to the Motomiyas' apartment and knocked politely.
After a minute, Jun opened the door, letting the sound of the TV blare
out into the hallway.
"Hello, Jun-san. I'm here to get Daisuke. May I come in?"
"Sure. It's been really quiet. The brat's probably asleep or something,"
Jun said airily, letting Ken in. She shut the door behind him, then went
back to the TV, sitting down and picking up her nail file. Ken blinked,
then walked through the apartment and into Daisuke's room. He wasn't even
fully in the door when he was practically attacked by an energetic blue
fuzzball.
"Ken! I'm glad you're here, when I woke up, Daisuke was gone! He didn't
even tell me where he was going!" Chibimon cried, bouncing worriedly. Ken
picked up the small blue Digimon, cradling him as he looked around. Ken's
gaze stopped on the neatly folded goggles on Daisuke's bedside table, and
the piece of paper next to them. Ken picked up the piece of paper with his
free hand and read it, then gasped.
'Whoever finds this, probably and hopefully Ken, I'm gone. You won't see
me again on Earth. I'm leaving Chibimon here, he wouldn't adapt well to
the new life I'm going to lead. I know my 'friends' will take good care
of him. As for the goggles... Give them to someone the group will actually
listen to. Takeru, maybe. Signed, Daisuke'
"What's the matter, Ken-chan? What did it say?" Minomon asked, peeking out
of Ken's backpack.
"Daisuke's... gone," Ken replied slowly, shocked.
"Gone? What do you mean, gone?!" Chibimon demanded. Ken, his face blank
with shock, held the note where the little Digimon could read it. Chibimon
scanned the note, then started to wail pitifully, burying his face in Ken's
shirt.
"Why? Why would he do this?" Ken asked of no one in particular. Minomon
crawled out of Ken's pack and floated next to Chibimon, trying desperately
to comfort his friend.
"We have to tell the others," Ken said, shaking off his daze. He put the
note and goggles into the bottom of his pack, then urged the two Digimon
in. They climbed in without protest, Minomon hugging the still crying
Chibimon as best he could. Ken settled the pack more securely, then left,
walking past the oblivious Jun and out into the hallway. As soon as he
was out, he took off running for the school computer lab, knowing the rest
of the Digidestined would be there already.
Hikari was standing in the doorway of the computer room, waiting for the
last members of their group to arrive. She got to see first-hand just why
Ken was called 'The Rocket' as he raced down the hallway. She quickly
ducked inside as Ken skidded to a stop, breathing heavily.
"Ken? What's wrong? Where's Daisuke?" Hikari asked, her face showing
concern. She gave a surprised blink as an anguished wail erupted from
Ken's backpack, attracting the attention of the rest of the group.
"Daisuke's gone," Ken choked out as he let Minomon and Chibimon out of
the backpack. He picked up Daisuke's wailing partner and cuddled him
reassuringly as he pulled out the note and goggles. "He left these."
Hikari took the note and read it aloud to the group, her eyes slowly
filling with tears. Most of the others looked shocked as she finished
the note. Iori, though, sighed quietly.
"This is our fault."
"What are you talking about? None of us EVER would've encouraged this
sort of stupidity!" Miyako yelled angrily. Iori looked up at her calmly.
"You weren't listening when Hikari read the note. It was pretty obvious
that Daisuke DOESN'T consider most of us his friends. He suggested we
put Takeru in charge, implying that we would listen to Takeru, but we
wouldn't listen to him. We didn't exactly give him much reason to stay
with us."
"But we're a team," Takeru protested. "We're ALL needed to fight the
spire Digimon."
"Wait, Takeru," Hikari said, looking at Iori. "You said he didn't consider
MOST of us his friends. Who's the exception?"
"Ken, of course," Iori said, looking confused. "Wasn't it obvious?"
"Not really," Takeru told him dryly. "We aren't all as observant as you."
"Why are we standing around here trying to psychoanalyze Daisuke from a
NOTE he left?" Ken demanded. "We should be in the Digiworld looking for
him!"
"Yeah!" Chibimon yelled excitedly. "Let's go find Daisuke!"
"I'm with them," Miyako declared. "Let's find him, give him a good kick,
and drag him back here by his hair! Digiport open!"
The kids were sucked into the Digiport and spat out on the other side,
in a grassy field. Ken immediately pulled out his D3 to check for Daisuke's
signal. Takeru blinked at him.
"How do we even know he's in the Digiworld?"
"The note," Ken and Iori said in unison. Ken waved distractedly for Iori
to continue, adjusting his D3.
"He said we wouldn't see him again on Earth. With most people, that would
mean suicide, but Chibimon's still around, and I don't think Daisuke is
the type for that anyway. If we aren't going to see him on Earth, he must
be here in the digital world."
"Yeah, that makes sense," Takeru said, pulling out his own D3. "I still
can't believe he's doing something this dumb. This is the person Ken used
to call his worthy adversary?"
"My..." Ken trailed off, his eyes going distant as a memory of his time
as the Kaizer surfaced.
/"Farewell, my worthy adversary. Until we meet again, in battle!" Ken
called out as he leaped up onto Airdramon easily. He hadn't meant it the
first time he had called Daisuke his worthy adversary. It was almost a
private joke. Now he meant it, because he had seen what was inside the
young Digidestined. Buried, unacknowledged, and fought, Daisuke had a
core of darkness that rivaled his own./
"No," Ken gasped quietly. "Daisuke..."
/Ken watched as the rest of the group sided with Takeru, ignoring the idea
Daisuke had put forth. He looked over at his friend and almost jumped at
the look in Daisuke's eyes. The anger, the chill hatred, that showed. As
soon as Daisuke noticed him, though, the look disappeared, and Ken was
left wondering if he'd imagined it./
/Daisuke looked at a shadowy form on the horizon with a strange smile on
his face. The blue-accented D3 flashed for a moment before quieting. Ken
turned his attention from the control-spire Digimon they were all fighting
to try to identify whatever Daisuke was looking at, but it was too far
away./
/Ken picked up a familiar thin book titled 'The Prince' and looked at his
friend curiously. "You're reading this?" Daisuke jumped, grabbed the book,
and shoved it into a drawer. "Gotta do a book report on it for class. Way
too boring. Let's go do something fun!"/
"Book report, my ass," Ken snapped as he raced for the digiport. "He was
studying the manual!"
By the time the rest of the group made it back, Ken had already realigned
the digiport and gone through to a new sector. They followed, despite
being totally confused. They caught up with him on a hill overlooking the
valley that held the remains of his old base.
Only it didn't anymore. The base was gone.

Teena: *starts giggling insanely* Evil Dai is cool, but it's even better
when Ken's on the side of the angels...
Ken: I'm on the side of GOOD. Takeru and Hikari can jump off a cliff, for
all I care. Along with their Digimon.
Teena: ...Didn't quite mean it that way, but whatever. Anyone who hasn't
read 'The Prince' may miss some stuff, since Daisuke's gonna use alot of
the advice in it. I think. *sits down and starts planning how Daisuke's
going to torture Takeru and Hikari*
Taichi/Yamato: *exchange glances* We're not helping her with that.
Ken: I will. *peers over Teena's shoulder* Oh, and remember, he has to
capture me before the torturing starts. 'For my own good', of course.
Teena: Your good and hopefully future Daiken bondage lemon...
Muses: Hentai...
