**Act 1, Scene 1: How Deep Is Your Love?**

*A soft light lights the stage, revealing Ken Ichijouji dressed in Imperial Japanese robes. He bows deeply to the audience, and invites the Audience to the scene behind him, a Royal Hall

Ken- Once upon a time, there was a great realm ruled fairly and justly by a Good Emperor and his lovely bride-

*Tai- "Wow. This time *we* get to have say in things!"*

*Sora- "Sssshhh!*

*Tai- "Bet Matt's jealous now! All he did was die on stage! In the opening scene, no less!"*

*Sora(clonking him on the head with a fan)- "Will you shut up and let Ken get on with it??"*

Ken-(nodding thanks)- The emperor was a jovial*if a bit garrulous*, man who was proud of his wife and kingdom.

*Tai- "What did he just call me? I've a good mind to-"

*Gomamon(peeking from behind the throne)- "He said you talk too much, moron!"*

*slight scuffling as Sora yanks on Tai's robe to keep him seated as Gomamon makes faces just beyond his reach*

Ken(blushing slightly)- In fact, the only thing the Emperor felt was missing in their life was a child*glares at Tai*

Tai- "<sigh>. Our dearest love, our truest bride. How our happiness would overflow if only we were to be blessed with a child!"

Sora- "Agreed, my darling. But such a thing has not come to pass. Whatever will we do?"

Tai- "Guards! Summon our Royal Advisor! For he will surely know what to do!"

*two Bakemon glide over to Ken and roughly shove him in front of Tai.*

Tai- "Royal Advisor! We beseech you for your knowledge! Our Empress has yet to feel the quickening of a child in her womb! Tell us, why is this so? What have we done to offend the gods?"

Ken(bowing deeply to each in turn)- "No, Your Excellency. I have already sent word to every temple and shrine in the kingdom-they have sent back no ill wishes against you nor your bride."

Sora- "What, then?"

Ken(nervously)- "Forgive my insolence, Your Majesties....but perhaps...the Empress...is barren?"

Tai(enraged)- "BARREN?!?! You DARE call your Empress imperfect?? Why we should have you hanged-"

Sora- "Husband, please! It may not be what we wanted to hear, but perhaps it's best we did. *tears begin to brim in her eyes* I will understand....if you wish to find a more...suitable bride."

*she ducks her head in shame as the courtroom goes quite with shock. Tai bounds off his throne and falls down at her feet*

Tai- Never!! I love you will all my heart and soul, body and mind! I could never abandon you, for you are the fairest jewel in the kingdom!"

*They both shed tears of relief and joy as they kiss passionately before resettling in their thrones. Ken smiles knowingly, as if he'd been confirming something.*

Ken- "Then there is still hope, my Lord. Several forest shrines have sent word to me about three sennyo who have tremendous powers for ones so young. They will grant a wish to those they believe are true to their desire. If your love and desire to have a child is strong enough, perhaps they will help."

Tai- "Then let us waste no more time! Advisor, I put you in charge of a committee to find these sennyoand return them here! May fortune smile upon us all!"

*Ken bows and leaves. Tai and Sora are standing, clasping hands and gazing at each other lovingly as the light fades*

**Act 1, Scene 2: Miracles and the Fine Print**

*Ken- "Jeeze, what's with you guys? I thought I was going to be tasting wood for a few seconds, pushing me like that!"*

*Bakemon- "Sorry, but that guy slipped us 20 ¥ to do that."*

*Ken- "What? Who?"*

*Tai-(as he sidles past) "Next time watch out before you throw names!"*

*Ken- "Grrrrr....."*

*Matt- "Where the hell is Palmon? She's gonna be on in two minutes!!"*

*Mimi- "There she is! Gabumon, what are you two doing?"*

*Gabumon- "Uh, um, uh..."*

*Palmon(quickly, straightening her robes)- "Nothing!"*

*Matt- "Great, fine, whatever! Everybody get into place! Izzy, cue the lights in 3...2...1...!*

*The lights fade in on a very nervous looking emperor and empress. They are dressed in their finest robes, as all the members of the Royal court. The Emperor is pacing while the Empress sits on the edge of her throne...*

Tai- "Where *is* he?? It's been nearly two weeks!"

Sora- "Husband, please! Wearing a pit in the floor will not bring him any faster!"

Tai- "<sigh>. "You are always right, my dear wife. *walks over and kisses her hands* I just want us to be happy."

Sora- Darling, We will always be happy as long as we have each other, regardless if we have a child or not."

Tai- "I know. It's just-"

Guard- "Sire! They approach!!"

Tai- "They? Then he must have gotten them to come! Admit them! At Once!!"

*The Guards frantically take position as the massive doors are opened. Ken is standing there with a self-assured smile on his face.*

Tai- *opening his arms wide* "Our Royal Advisor returns to us! And it would seem he bears good news!"

Ken- "Yes, My Emperor. I was successful in my mission. I found and convinced the three sennyo to come. the rest is up to you."

*Tento- "How am I supposed to fly in this thing?"*

*Gato- "Hush! Act dignified. You're a sennyo now. And don't screw up like you did last time!"*

*Tento(arms flailing)- "HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THE VOLTAGE UP THAT HIGH? I've never used it for theatrical purposes before!!"

Matt- "GABUMON!!"

Gabu-(meekly, as he and Palmon leap away from each other) "I was just wishing Palmon luck?"

Matt(thoroughly frustrated)- "Just-get-on-stage-NOW!!"

Ken- Emperor, Empress, allow me to present the three sennyo of the Eastern Realm!"

*Gatomon walks in with a well-practiced regal bearing. Palmon is just behind, a slight blush still on her face as she smoothes her robes again. Tentomon, temporarily forgetting his wings are unavailable, falls forward but quickly regains his dignity.*

Gato- "You are the Emperor of the lands of Odaiba."

Tai- "Yes, Yes we are. Welcome to our kingdom. Your journey was most pleasant, I trust?"

Tento- "Oh, yes, very!" *Palmon nods happily*

Gato- "Enough of the small talk. Let us get to business. You wish for a child, but have been unable to produce one by normal means."

*Patamon(offstage, in just audible whisper)- "Hey, TK, what do they mean by 'normal means'?"

*TK(horrified)- "Later! Much, MUCH later!!"*

Tai*with a slight blush and suppressing a giggle*- "Yes, that's true. That is why we've asked for you. It has been said you are our last hope."

Gato- "Perhaps."

*The trio forms a circle around the Emperor and hold hands. They stand there for several seconds, chanting softly. Then they repeat the process around the Empress. Finally, the break apart and stand before the Royal couple.*

Pal- "We have seen your hearts and know that the love you bear for each other is strong and pure. Therefore, we will grant your wish, and the Empress will bear her child by next Spring."

Tai*overjoyed*- "Thank you! Thank you all!"

Tento- "But there *is* a catch."

Sora- "A catch? Do you mean a quest? Must we search for a talisman or something?"

Tento- "Oh no, nothing so strenuous. We sennyo like to take things easy, you know. We merely ask that upon the anniversary of this day, you throw a party."

Tai*relieved*- "Well, that's no problem. We'll have a party that the entire kingdom will enjoy for such a miracle.'

Pal- "Oh no. This party will be only be attended by you, the Empress, your advisor, the child, the child's future mate and parent, the three of us, and most important-you *must* remember to invite the Wise Man of Server and the Dark Demon Queen!"

Tai- "The Demon Queen?! Why *her*?"

Pal- "If she is left out of the celebration, she will become offended and may try to curse the child. Strong as the three of us are, we are no match for her spell."

Ken- "Then we shall not forget. I will personally deliver it."

Tai*surprised*- "You would..."

Ken*firmly*- "For my Emperor, For my Kingdom."

Gato- "Then all is settled. See you next year."

*Gatomon walks out with Palmon. Tentomon has once again forgotten his no-fly situation and falls down the steps leading to the throne and rolls out the door, bowling the girls over*

*Gatomon- "BAKA!"*

*Izzy- "Maybe we should've cut some holes in there...."*

*Tentomon- "Whooaahoooo..."*
