Take a Turn
... A New Game

"No! Davis, you can't do this! Don't, please! I can handle it!"

Davis turned to Mimi, smiling slightly. "Don't worry about me. I can handle it." He turned back to Ken. "So how about it?"

Ken was just about to answer when, suddenly, out of no where, two vines wrapped around around Mimi and Davis, pulling them roughly from Ken's grasp. Mimi whimpered a bit when Ken was forced to let go of her hair (though he did pull on it quite a bit in the process), and Davis turned around to find Kari and Cody sitting on her armor digimon.

"W-what?" he stuttered. Soon, Veemon has armor digivolved too. He kneeled down and Palmon, Mimi and Davis quickly mounted the armor of friendship digimon.

Ken was yelling at them as they flew away (Davis' digimon running at full speed on the ground after he jumped down), and Davis could precisely hear him cursing directly at him, threatening him. Davis swallowed and instead focused on his digimon.

"How did you escape?"

His digimon told him about how they managed to fight there way out, and how they were all kept together; a foolish mistake made on his behalf. Davis wasn't really paying attention, just giving responses such as "Uh huh" and "Wow" every so often. Nor was Mimi paying attention; her hair was the focus on her mind at the moment.

"There's a tv up ahead!" Kari called, her digimon beginning to lower its altitude.

There was a certain anxiety building in Davis' stomach, causing him to turn a shade paler. The five of them paused in front of the tv, their digimon wondering why they didn't go in.

"Who's going to tell Matt?" Yolei asked suddenly.

A dead silence took place where none talked nor breathed. The digimon looked curiously at their partners, wondering why they weren't speaking. And where was Patamon? The digimon were also wondering that, but seeing how worried their partners were silenced them.

"I-I will."

Everyone turned to Davis, trying to smile for support.

"No, I should. I've known Matt since the beginning," said Mimi.

"It's okay, Mimi. I need to tell him, please."

She frowned and thought about it for a moment. "Fine," she said. "Now let's go back."

They went through the tv, staring at the surprised look of Tai, Matt and Izzy. Davis was on the bottom of the pile, in a very uncomfortable position.

"Hey guys, get up."

A quiet celebration begun (as not to wake Mr. Ishida), where Kari found herself in her brother's arms.

"Oh Tai, I've missed you so much."

Others were all reuniting, but Matt stood on the outside of it, trying to interpret why TK wasn't with them. His thoughts were broken when Tai called him, and when he looked up at his love, he noticed the group had gone completely quiet.

"Matt, I'm s-sor-ry, b-but T-TK had an ac-ccident..."

Matt just stared blankly at Davis, unsure if he was hearing the words he wanted to.

"I-I tried t-to save him, b-but I couldn't."

A moment passed and Mimi broke out in tears, as following her did Kari and even Cody did as well. Matt didn't cry though, just stared blankly at Davis and Davis returned his gaze.

He turned his back to his fellow Digidestined, trying to escape the feeling of loneliness and rage he held.

A few hours later resulted in Matt laying wide awake, his eyes dry from not blinking. It was the shock that prevented him from going to sleep like the others had. Dawn was now approaching, the sun beginning to overlap where the moon had shone.

Standing up, the blonde made his way to Izzy's lap top, opening it quietly. If the others weren't as concerned in avenging TK's death, then that was their problem. He remembered that he wasn't able to open the gate himself, so he carefully unhooked the nearest person's -- Cody -- D3, and with that, he opened the gate. Silently the D3 landed at Matt's feet and in a matter of seconds, he vanished through the computer.

Matt paid no attention to how warm it was in the Digital World, or the fact that he hadn't even bothered getting his digimon. His mind was determined to find Ken, even if it meant his own destruction.

He wandered for a number of minutes, across the hot desert sands. He didn't want to think how hot it would get once the sun rose. His eyes focused on smoke rising far away, and he assumed it was the old base. He began walking towards that when a cold voice caused him to turn around.

"Is little Matty on his way to kill me?"

"What did you do to my brother?"

"His death was his own fault," Ken said with a snicker.

"Fuck you," he growled. "Fuck you." He didn't allow himself to say anything; didn't have the strength to.

"Your death will be your own fault to. You'll die the most horrible way possible. A knife cutting your body and with each drip of blood, two more cuts made. Then I'll let you lie there, with the scratches and stab wounds all over your body until you start to perish and--"

"Shut up!"

Ken snorted. "Can't handle a little blood? Can you handle anything?"

The way he said 'anything' caused shivers to run through Matt's spine. What had he meant by that? Ken didn't let Matt think much; he continued talking.

"You ignorant Digidestined think the Digital World is such an innocent place, but it isn't."

"Not with you hurting them!" Matt snapped.

"Ah, so contrary. It's a new game now, Matt. A game where the digimon aren't the main focus anymore."

Matt stared at Ken ambiguous wonderment. He wondered what Ken meant and was a little startled when Ken stood face to face with him.

"It's a hunt for the Digidestined."

"Huh?"

Ken grabbed the blonde by the hair, causing him to cry out and fall to his knees. "Don't question me, you half-wit. I'm the one in charge and you can't question my authority!"

I wasn't even questioning his authority. Now a hunt for us? What's he planning to do? Kill us? He's already managed to kill... "Oh God..."

Ken lifted Matt upright, still by the hair. "You shall call me God."

"Not you," Matt spat. "You killed my brother!" He tried swiping at Ken, but with no avail. Soon he was on a digimon, heading to God knows where.

TK saw a change within the base during the past few hours. From inside Ken's bedroom, he could hear digimon alike frantically running around and shouting orders, and he was wondering if the Digidestined were attacking once more. It worried him, though, because if they couldn't defeat Ken before, then how would they do it now? This attack would simply be out of rage for his "supposed death", not well planned out like usual.

"They better not be trying to rescue me, if that is them out there," he muttered, leaning his head against the door.

Davis' legs were now asleep from sitting in the same position for a few hours. He had watched; since the moment Matt stood up, took Cody's D3 and disappeared through the lap top; and yet, he couldn't move, couldn't wake the others up and tell them that Matt was probably going to get himself into trouble. So, quite troubled, he sat with a numb fear, the same fear that he had for the past twenty four hours.

The sun was now fully in the sky and Davis guessed that it was around nine in the morning. He looked carefully at the other Digidestined, noticing how restless they looked in their sleep. Tai's eyes were opened, and for the first time, Davis noticed that.

"Where's Matt?"

Davis just stared at him; stared at the brunette who lay next to Kari.

"Davis, where's Matt? Did he go use the bushes, or did he try waking up his dad?"

Silence; Davis wasn't sure what to say.

"Davis, where is he?" Tai asked frantically, jumping to his feet. He pulled the younger boy to his feet, shaking him roughly by the shoulders. "Answer me, damnit!"

"H-he's in the D-digital World," Davis replied, his voice a little shaky from not speaking for a long time and for the fear of Tai's reaction.

"Oh God..." he turned around, towards the others. "Wake up everyone! We've got trouble!"

**~**

Matt wasn't sure how long it took to get to their destination because all he knew was that his head hurt like hell. When they finally stopped, he looked up, his jaw dropping slightly.

"As I told Davis, welcome to your new home."

"The others will find me," he muttered under his breath, looking away defiantly.

"Oh, I don't think so. This base is much better than my last. You're all fools for believing you could defeat me!"

"You're the fool for thinking you will be able to defeat us. This battle isn't over, you know."

"It is for your brother," said Ken with a hint of tease in his voice.

Matt swallowed and turned away, unable to stand the fact of his brother's death any longer. A few minutes later, Matt was tugged through hallways with his hands tightly secure. His wrists burned, but there was nothing to be done about that, so he just followed Ken and his minions.

They stopped in front of a door and stood for a moment, until Matt detected a sense of unease in Ken. He wanted to question the boy, but decided to remain silent.

"You are all insects; fools," he muttered, reaching for the knob.

I wonder if he's crazy... I wonder if TK had to see that psycho before he... don't think about him, Matt. Just keep on focus... great, maybe I'm the one who's going crazy.

"Fools... stupid fools..."

Matt thought about breaking for an escape while Ken muttered nonsense, but he realized he wouldn't get far and probably would get hurt in the process. He turned his attention when the door opened, and he cried out when he saw him.

"Matt!"

"TK!"

Ken had no problem dragging in Matt and shutting the door behind them; only when TK went to approach his brother did Ken stick out his hand, motioning him to stop.

"I don't think so," he said softly. "Now you know Matt, that your stupid brother is alive."

Matt was ignoring Ken, focusing on his brother instead. The younger blonde's wrist was badly bruised, as well as the tons of bruises that covered his pale body. Not to mention he was barely wearing any clothes...

"TK, what's happened to you?"

"I--"

"You're brother isn't the same person he was before yesterday," Ken provided with a snort.

Ken watched in amusement as both of their faces paled slightly.

"TK, what happened to you?" he asked again.

TK glanced at Ken briefly before turning back to his brother. "Isn't it obvious?"

"Please say I don't think what you mean... he didn't--"

"I fucked him senseless, okay?" said Ken, not hiding his annoyance. He hated when people were shocked and it took them forever to speak.

TK wanted to fall into his brother's arms and sob his heart out when he saw the concern in his brother's eyes. He also wanted to speak, but didn't know what to say.

"Now Matt, since I allowed you to know you're brother's alive. You have to pay the debt."

TK shook his head. "You can't," he cried out. "I won't let you! Take me instead!"

"TK, no! I'm older than you and can handle this. You're too young!"

"No need to fight over me," Ken said with a smirk. "I'll have both of the blonde brothers by midnight."

**~**

It was a few minutes before they planned to go to the Digital World to rescue Matt when Mr. Ishida stepped out from his tent.

"When did you kids get here?" he asked to the younger group.

"Um... my mom dropped us off early this morning," Kari lied.

He nodded and looked around, and Tai anticipated what he was about to ask. "Where are Matt and TK?"

"We planned a hike for today and they actually ditched us," Tai replied quickly, trying to pretend to be outraged. "I can't believe they did that!"

"So we're going to catch up with them now," Izzy said, catching on to what Tai's saying.

Yolei nodded and quickly picked up the closest bag to her, putting it on her back. "Well we better head off towards them."

"Where are you heading towards?"

"That mountain," said Tai, pointing to a mountain not too far away.

"Make sure you take plenty of pictures from the top," he said.

"We will," said Tai. "Well, guys, let's go."

"Yeah, see ya around Mr. Ishida," they waved as they left.

After a few minutes of silence, Yolei started to panic.

"We don't have time to go to the mountain and take pictures... do we even have a camera?!"

"No... Let's just walk a little further and then we'll go into the Digital World. That way if Mr. Ishida chases after us or something we wouldn't suddenly be gone and worry him."

Izzy nodded along with Tai and that settled it; they began to walk forward.

**~**

It was a little after noon when they decided to go into the Digital World. Izzy opened his lap top and each passed through at the speed of light, landing in a pile.

"I hope we get back before dark so that Mr. Ishida doesn't get worried," Tai said.

"I could care less about that," Mimi said, frowning. "All I can think about is TK and now Matt... What if they get hurt or something?"

"Mimi, please," Tai said, feeling a little impatient. He just wanted find Matt and get him home; who knows what Matt would do when he's feeling the pain for his brother's death?

"Just because you guys fight a lot doesn't mean you shouldn't be worried about him."

Tai clenched his fists, biting his tongue about saying anything to her about his and Matt's relationship. He glanced at Izzy, who gave him a small, encouraging smile.

"Now where do you think the base is?" Kari asked, obviously trying to change the subject.

"It should be north of here," Izzy replied. "Bad news, guys."

"What is it?" Cody asked.

"Our digimon are far away from here, which means we'll have to walk most of the way..."

Davis drifted out of the conversation, beginning to think again. He should have waken up the others as soon as Matt left; now look at how much trouble he caused. He frowned and followed Tai with a steady pace, trying to see into the distance if the base was anywhere near, though he knew it wasn't.

**~**

Matt wasn't sure what time it was, but all he knew was that he was separated from TK against his own will and left in a room for what seemed like forever. His stomach growled, but he didn't really feel hungry, due to feeling sick over the pain that Ken caused his brother. But at least he is alive... Matt smiled at the thought and rested his head against the wall. It was only for a moment when the door suddenly bust open.

"I told you I'd be hunting... And it shall start now."
