Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ The Shadow ❯ Chapter six ( Chapter 6 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Disclaimer: I don't won Digimon. None of the characters from the series belong to me. So don't
sue me.

Author's note: I have so much homework this weekend, it's SO UNFAIR!!! Anywayz, let's get
on with the story. I don't know anything about flowers, my friend told me that it was yellow
flowers that meant jealousy, but then my other friend told me that yellow roses meant friendship,
so I have no idea. And for the sake of stopping their argument and for the story lets just say it's
purple (I'm weird, I know). Oh...and the little story that I used here is really a Japanese legend.
So it's not mine, I just sort of changed it a little, and I sort of forgot what the story is called, so if
you have any idea who wrote it or what is the name of it, please e-mail me or mention it in your
review. Thanks. ^_^

The Shadow

Chapter 6

"Are you sure that's all you know? Try and remember something that might relate to who this
person is or why this person would want to kill you?" Izzy prompted.

"I'm sorry you guys." Sora shook her head. "But that's all I know."

"That's okay, Sora." Tai put his hand on hers.

Sora smiled up at him. The other digidestined was not immune to what's going on.

"Uh-huh." Joe coughed. "Maybe there's a pattern on why this person is killing who ever it is that
they choose to kill."

"Well," Matt began. "I found all the newspaper articles related to this Shadow. The first person
Shadow killed was a teenage girl from West Odaiba. Her name is Laurie Yatate. She's very
popular, she's even in the cheerleading squad in her school..."

"Did you say Laurie Yatate?" Tai's eyes widened. "I think I know who she is."

Everyone turned and looked at Tai surprised.

"Just a month ago, during one of the soccer games, out team played against West Odaiba. And
after the game, Laurie Yatate came and congratulated me for scoring the winning goal.
Gosh...she even gave me her number!"

Izzy's brows furrowed together. "But this still does not tell us anything."

"Let's move on then." Joe intersected. " The second person that got murdered was also a teenage
girl by the name Fanny Tasu, she's very..."

"Smart." Matt finished. " I heard about her on t.v. before. Apparently she is one of those
geniuses."

"Hey!" Izzy said offended.

"Sorry." Matt smiled sheepishly. "I didn't mean it that way."

"Fanny Tasu...Fanny Tasu... Oh my god!" Sora suddenly got up and rushed to her room. She
came back with a book in her hand.

"Are you okay?" Tai asked concerned.

Sora nodded. "Tai...do you remember Fanny?"

Tai shook his head. "Am I suppose to?"

Sora nodded. She opened the book in her hand and pointed to a picture labeled, Tasu Fanny.

"The year book!" Tai said surprised. "I haven't looked in that thing since forever."

"Maybe that's why you don't remember her." Sora answered. "Tai, she was in our class in junior
high. She was the one that got the big crush on you, and when all your guy friends found out,
you got so embarrassed.

Tai looked thoughtfully at the picture. "I remember now. How could I have forgotten about her!"

"A cheerleader, a genius, and an athlete. What's the connection.?" Izzy wracked his brain. "I just
couldn't get it."

Kari's eyes narrowed. "Let's look at it from a different perspective. Doesn't the purple rose
represent jealousy?"

Sora slapped her hand against her head. "Of course! My mom told me that once, how could I
have forgotten."

"Good, we're going somewhere." Izzy mussed. "Jealous...do you know anyone that may be
jealous of you?"

Sora shook her head. "I get along with people pretty well, I seriously don't know anyone that
would hate me enough or be jealous of me enough to kill me."

"Wouldn't the person that's trying to kill you be a girl?" T.K interjected.

"A girl?" Sora furrowed her eyebrows.

"Ya! Look, this person's been only going after teenager girls so far. And if we were to use Kari's
theory this person is jealous of you girls that's why she's trying to kill you. Doesn't it make sense
that it should be a girl."

Izzy nodded thoughtfully. "There is some sense in what you're saying. But we still cannot
disregard a male as our suspect."

"I agree with Izzy." Joe joined in.

Matt looked at his watch. "It's getting late, I have to go home, you guys. I promise I'll look up
some more information on this Shadow person."

T.K sighed " I guess I have to go too."

"Me too." Joe said apologetically. "I've got a test tomorrow and I have to study for it."

"I might as well get going also." Izzy shut his laptop.

"Common Tai, we should go too." Kari looked at Tai expectantly.

Tai hesitated.

"I'll be fine." Sora shoved him towards the door.

Tai smiled and nodded.

"Thanks for your help, guys." Sora waved to them.

They waved back. "That's what friends are for."

Tai hesitated at the door. He held on to Sora's hand. "I'll see you tomorrow at school?"

Sora smiled and nodded.

Tai bent down his head and kissed her forehead. "Try and get some sleep okay?"

Sora smiled. "I'll be dreaming about you."

"You better." Tai chided before giving her one more kiss and leaving the apartment.

Sora waited outside the school for Tai. She looked around trying to spot him.

Suddenly a hand came around covering her eyes. "Guess who?"

"Tai!" Tais exclaimed as she turned around, in the next moment Tai had his arms around her.
"What took you so long?"

"Sorry." Tai smiled down at her. "Another detention."

Sora rolled her eyes. "Why am I not surprised."

"Hey!" Tai pouted.

Sora laughed and leaned into him.

"Get a room!" Matt called from behind them.

Tai glared at him.

"You still owe me a favor for helping you guys get together."

"You just had to remind me, didn't you?" Tai rolled his eyes.

"You bet." Matt laughed.

"What's so funny?" A voice asked from behind them. They turned around to find Angel there.

Sora moved out of Tai's arms, but Tai wouldn't let go of her hand. Tai knew Sora was a little
embarrassed around Angel, especially when Angle had a crush on him. He gave Sora a reassuring
squeeze, and smiled down at her. Sora relaxed a little against him. Angel's eyes narrowed at the
couple in front of her but in the next second it was replaced with a smile.

"Julia's having a party! I just thought you guys would like to come."

"Julia's having a party? Then why are you inviting us?" Matt raised his eyebrows.

"Well... since she's new here and she doesn't know that many people, so it was my idea for her to
have a party and get to know some people better."

"Julia's lucky to have a friend like you." Sora smiled at Angel. Angel smiled back, but Sora cold
tell that it was fake.

"Sure we'll be there." Tai answered.

"Great!" Julia exclaimed.

Suddenly a gust of wind blew past them. The memory of that night suddenly came rushing back
to Sora with a clarity.

Fear heightened her sense, she could hear her muffled cries against the cloth, the rustle of the
leaf against the wind, and a faint scent that she couldn't quite distinguish. . .

"Sora? Are you alright?" Tai's concerned face appeared in front of her.

"Ya." Sora blinked . "I'm okay."

Tai's eyes searched hers.

"Angel...where did you get that perfume of yours?" Sora inquired.

Angel seemed to be surprised by the question. "It's not mine. Julia lent it to me. Why?"

"Just wondering." Sora shrugged.

"Okay." Angel eyed her skeptically. "I better get going, see you guys later."

Tai still looked at her concerned. "What happened? You just seem to zone out for a sec."

"That smell... that's the scent I smelled right before I was unconscious."

"Are you sure?" Matt's eyes widened.

"I wouldn't forget something like that. I know that was it." Sora insisted.

Tai put his arms around her. "We better tell Izzy this new information. It may help find out who
Shadow is."

"We're almost there." Tai led Sora up the cliff. His hands still covering her eyes. "Okay, you can
look now." Tai moved his hands away.

Sora gasped at the site in front of her. Tai had led her to Lover's cliff. Sora was stunned by the
scenery. She was in front of the ocean, the water was splashing against the cliff. She was so high
up, it would seems that she could almost touch the stars.

"Did you know there's a legend about this cliff?" Tai whispered as he wrapped his arms around
her from behind.

Sora shook her head.

"A long time ago, there was a king. He had only one daughter, she was by far the fairest lady
around. Many knights tried to posses her, to have her hand on marriage, but she had already
fallen in love with a stable boy. And the stable boy was also madly in love with her. When the
king found out he was furious. So he send the stable boy away. He couldn't stand the fact that
his daughter would rather marry a stable boy than a real knight. But the boy refused. He argued
that he was just as strong and courageous as a knight and he loved the princess more than
anything, and he would do anything for her. So the king challenge him..." Tai pointed to one side
of the cliff which was a straight rise from the land below. "He challenged the stable boy to climb
up that cliff with the princess on his back. And if he succeeded the king would make him a real
knight and let him marry the princess. The stable boy agreed. The king thought there is no way
the stable boy would be able to complete the task. It was impossible. When the day came that
the boy was to climb the cliff, many of the king's people came to witness the event. They
watched as the boy climbed higher and higher into the cliff. Many times the boy wanted to stop,
but the princess on his back urged him on. And so he did, he climbed higher and higher, even
though every part of his body didn't want to go on, but finally he made it to the top. The princess
was ecstatic, they could be together now. The king was stunned. But then suddenly the boy
collapsed to the floor. He died of exhaustion. The princess couldn't believe it, so she grabbed
onto her lover's body and to everyone's horror, hurled herself off the cliff, and into the ocean.
Their body's were never found, but you see those two rocks that's down there?" Sora nodded
her head at the two peculiar looking rocks that's strangely shaped like two people. "People said
that those are the two lovers, finally together. And that's why this is called lover's cliff."

"It's so sad." Sora whispered. "Would you. . . would you have done what the stable boy did for
me?"

Tai's arms tightened around her. "Yes." He answered without hesitation.

Sora closed her eyes and leaned into Tai's arms, relishing in the moment with him. "I love you."
She whispered.

"I love you too." Tai answered back.

Shadow's hands formed fists as the killer stared at the two lovers locked in their embrace. I
should have killer her when I had the chance! Shadow could feel her blood boil. They had been
trying to find out who she is, but they haven't had much success. To anybody, Shadow was just
and ordinary person. But inside . . . no one could possibly imagine how heartless and full of hate
and anger this killer possessed inside. Shadow had never let all the anger and hatred inside of her
show before, not even to any of the victims that she killed, but . . . but Sora?

"Sora . . ." Shadow stared at the redhead in the arms of Tai. "You'll be the first." Shadow never
took her eyes away from the couple, letting the hatred she felt grow, letting it consume her.
