Chapter Twenty-one: What Love & Friendship can do
By KellyQ
"Takuya, look out!"
It was Kasumie. Yelling for the brunette to move out of the way of Gortanes bass ball bat. One second latter Kouji came running passed her. Sprinting some more, he dove right for his koi just as the bat was coming forward. They both went crashing to the ground as the bat swung. Snapping out of her fears, Kasumie ran up and stood in front of the two; her arms stretched out.
"You leave my friends alone!"
"Will you just get out of the way."
"You'll just have to hit me too," Kasumie said as Kouji got up scooped his shaking koi in his arms holding him close, "because I'm not going to let you hurt them!"
"Just move!"
"Why ..." Takuya whispered as tears starting prickle the corner of his eyes, "why are so many people against love?"
"What's going on here!" A voice boomed.
Mrs. Right came to the door after the forth knock; once she opened the door she smiled to see that it was Kasumie. Mrs. Right stepped out of the way to let Kasumie in.
"How are they doing?" The young girl asked.
"Takuya is still shooken up and Kouji still looks like he's ready to kill." Mrs. Right sighed.
"That's good to know that they're all right. Can I see them?"
"I guess."
Kasumie followed Mrs. Right down the hallway and to the last door. Mrs. Right rose to her fist and softly knocked.
"What?" Came a bitter voice from the other side.
"It's me, Kasumie. May I come in?"
Kouji sighed; got up from the bed walked to the door and opened it to see a smiling Kasumie. He then turned and walked back to bed and laid next to his koi who was finally resting from shaking for three hours. Kasumie closed the door softly ...
"How is Takuya doing?" She asked softly moving across the floor slowly toward the bed.
Takuya had a couple of bandages on his elbows and a an ice on the back of his head. His face looked really flushed.
"He's all right now ..."
"That's good news. I was worried that he might've had to be taken to the hospital."
"He's just fine .... but I should thank you for trying to help ..."
"Any time," She smiled, "both of you are my friends and besides, I would've felt awful if your koi got hurt ---"
Kasumie froze for one moment realizing what she just as Kouji narrowed his eyes but changed when he saw slight fear witched caused him to sigh ... might as well tell her ...
"Yes you where right, Takuya and I have been going out for six mouths."
"Well then," Kasumie smirked, "Takuya's really lucky to have you in his life ..."
"What do you mean by that."
"There's quite a few people who just like to have sex and don't believe in compassion or any other emotion ..."
"I was sort of was like that ..."
"And Takuya proved you wrong." Kasumie finished as Kouji gave her a playful glare, "he must really care about you ..."
"I know he does and I do feel grateful that he's in my life ..." Kouji admitted looking down at his koi.
"I'm glad ... but I have to go now. I just came by to see how things where going." Kasumie said with a smile as she quietly walked out.
A small smile formed on Kouji's face as he looked back down at his koi to see that he was awake; his eyes holding a sort of love in them.
"Hi there. How are you feeling?" Kouji asked softly as he rubbed the top of his koi's head.
Takuya rolled to his side and slipped his arms around Kouji their faces inches away.
"Thank you, Kouji-chan ..."
"Takuya you know that I would never leave you ... your the most impotent thing in my life."
With that Kouji pressed his lips against his koi's pulling him closer ...
