Twenty-four Hours

Chapter Three: Death Valley

"Lee, wake up ..."

He slowly opened his eyes to see four worried faces. Suzie put her bony arms around her brother.

"Suzie found unconscious on the floor. Are you all right?" Mrs. Jenyra asked.

Lee got up walked over to the computer. Mr. Jenyra looked at his son for one moment, you have twenty-four hours to bring him back or lose him forever Lee remembered.

"What is it son?"

"Come on Terriermon ..."

"Where are we going?" The Digimon asked hopping onto his partners shoulder.

"To save Takato!"

Before his family could say anything Lee ran out of the room and to the front door quickly putting his shoes on. Suzie walked up with a worried look on her face as she watched her brother.

"Can I come?"

"No Suzie ..."

"But ..."

"I said no!" He paused for one moment seeing that she was about to cry, "Suzie, look ... I didn't mean to yell. The last thing I want is to see you get hurt. Can you do that for me? Can you show me that you're a big girl and stay inside?"

Suzie nodded her head her brother kissed her on the forehead. Mr. Jenyra couldn't help but smile at the sight of his two youngest showed sign's of caring.

Ripples started appear and suddenly a dull white beam as Lee came running up and stopped putting on his sunglass. He was about to take a leap when he heard his father telling him to wait. Lee turned to see his father tossing something black to him. The young tamer extended his hand out and caught it.

"What is it?" Lee asked looking down at what looked like a fancy watch.

"Yamaki gave this to me to give to you. It's a communicator so that we can keep in contact with each other."

"Thanks, dad! I'll be back ..."

"You better hurry!"

"Right!"

Mr. Jenyra watched his son jump in the pale light and vaporize like water. I hope I'm doing the right thing he thought as calm wind whistled.

Lee's stomach felt like it was coming out as he and his partner continued to fall. It wasn't long before he hit the ground with a thud as Terriermon hit the ground too. Young tamer slowly got up to feet to come face to face with Renamon, Juri and Calumon. Juri looked very pale and out of it. Renamon looked pretty beat up, with many burses, cuts and her purple arm gloves where torn. Calumon looked very tired with no sign of life in his eyes.

"We don't look that bad do we?" Terriermon asked

"What happened .... and where are the others?" Lee asked completely ignoring his partner walking toward Juri.

The pale young frightened girl backed away with complete horror in her eyes. Lee stepped back when Renamon got right in front of him ready to fight, her cold blue eyes flashing as she ran right for him. She then disappeared, Terriermon and his partner looked around; Lee looked up to see Renamon ready to use her attack.

"Terriermon, look out!"

Lee ran to his partner and pushed him out of the way as he was hit. After the dust settled, Renamon's eyes widened to see blood on the corners of the tamers mouth. She landed on the ground when she saw Juri run up to the fallen tamer.

"Juri, stay back!"

"But he's hurt!"

Renamon disappeared and reappeared right at Juri's side looking coldly at the personates.

"Renamon, what's up? Why did you try to attack us?" Terriermon asked.

"I can't believe it .... Ruki, Kenta, Hirokazu .... even Takato's dead in this world ...."

"Yes ... and I'm sorry that I hurt you .... I was only trying to protect Juri. She's the only thing I have left since Ruki died."

"I'm sorry too," Lee sympathized putting a comforting hand on her furry shoulder, "but we should go."

"Wait!" Juri shouted running up with a small cloth sack in her hand.

She took the tamers hand placing the sack in his palm saying to untie it. He carefully undid the cloth sack to reveal three rise balls.

"I couldn't help but over hear so I made some for your journey."

"Thanks Juri." Lee said as Renamon got up and walked up next to her friend, "I should go. Bye!"

"Bye!"

Yamaki walked over to the window and almost chocked as he gasped in horror. No that couldn't be, he thought as turned ran out of the room almost bumping into Rile. I thought they where dead! There were no way the kids survived!

He continued to run after Lee when they both stopped to see ripples on the ground and white light shooting from the ground and Lee leaped into it. The light fatted right before the mans eyes. He stood there with a serious look on his face.
