Chapter 1: The darkness is suffocating.

"Speech" `thoughts' *dream*

I lie on my bed listening to the occasional chirping of the crickets. The lights of the passing cars lit my walls and woke me from my dreaming. I couldn't tell what time it was but all was silent in the house. I got up because my insomnia had started to kick up and I wasn't tired. As I sat on the edge of my bed and stared at the clock it blinked twelve o'clock and I knew that there had been another power surge. I stood up and walked to my door looking at my dbz poster that was taped there. Even though they were all glaring out at me I still wished that I could be in the dbz universe. I was a miserable, lonely 17 year old girl who couldn't trust anyone. I didn't believe anyone when they said that I was pretty. My blood red hair was unmanageable and my nose wasn't that straight. The only thing I liked about my face was my eyes, they were a bluish/gray and there was a golden ring around my pupil that looked odd, and they were extremely light sensitive. I didn't like who I was and I tortured myself. I hated myself everyone called me fat and I believed them. I was 155 pounds and didn't hide it well with my 5'2" frame. My door opened with a creak and I though that the whole house was going to wake up. I peeked into my sister's room to see her sleeping form. I closed the door to dampen her snoring that she got from her dad, my step-dad. She was fourteen and had blond/brownish hair that went to her shoulders. We hated each others guts so we didn't talk a lot. I walked past my parent's room to get to the kitchen. Kent's snoring was like a chainsaw and it started to hurt my ears. I grabbed a glass and filled it with water before heading back to my room. As soon as the water was gone, I felt odd. The darkness around me had begun to move around again and the room started to get warm and the air stale. Soon I couldn't even breathe and struggled to stay awake as my body cried for oxygen. I managed to get to my door before passing out and falling forward. Oddly enough I didn't feel the impact of my body hitting the floor. My dreams were disturbing and for the first time in my life I was afraid. *It was totally dark and the air was so heavy my breathing was labored. My skin felt like it was on fire and my eyes felt wet. I wiped them and they became coated with something sticky and warm, I lifted my hand to my face and smelled blood. My eyes were bleeding! I was gripped with fear, I hurt all over and it felt like I was being ripped apart. I tried to scream but the coppery taste of blood filled my mouth and I began to choke. This was not a dream; I could feel the pain of my lungs filling with blood. I finally let out an ear piercing scream and let the darkness consume me.*

I was in total agony, my flesh burned like fire and I could still smell blood. My eyes slowly opened but everything looked wrong, it looked like it was animated. I sat up and immediately wished that I hadn't, my body exploded in pain and I saw a pool of blood forming around me. There was a lake a few feet away and I crawled over to stare into its surface. I held back my sobs as I looked into the reflective water. My face was covered with blood and it seemed to come from everywhere my eyes, my mouth, my ears, and my nose. I cried and it hurt so bad, I looked like a monster; I pulled back and crawled into a fetal position. I cried and the light was killing my eyes. It felt like they were bleeding again. I was wishing that they would start bleeding again so that the blood would block out the light. Soon I got back up and almost fell back down, my legs felt broken and I couldn't see straight. There was a path that went into the woods and I followed it as the sun continued its path, oblivious to my pain and tears.

Just as it was beginning to get dark I could hear children playing just beyond a tall bush in front of me. I got to the bush and fell through it to the other side and grabbed my ears in pain as the children screamed. I looked up as they ran away and some adults gathered around me.

"Is she all right?"

"What happened to her?"

"It looks like she got hit by a bus."

I looked up and managed to ask for help before I was picked up and put into the back of a nearby car. `This is great now everyone is going to ask me things I can't answer.' The car screeched to a halt and I was pulled from the back and thrown harshly onto a stretcher. I closed my eyes and could hear someone yell that they needed help and couldn't find a vein. I opened my eyes just to see a syringe plunge into my arm and then the room began to get dark and fuzzy. My eyes didn't listen to my pleadings and closed. The dream didn't come back but the darkness was still suffocating.
