Chapter Six- Realization

A fist connected with Amara's cheek and she was sent backwards a few feet. She gained control of her body and used the momentum of the punch to guide her into a back flip. Her feet skidded back a little on the tile floor before she came to a stop. She looked up at her opponent.

Vegeta scowled at her. "Damn it Amara! Pay attention!"

She stood and wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth with the back of her gloved hand. "Sorry."

He scoffed. "Get your mind off of everything but fighting right now!" He smirked. "Or should I say get your mind off of your date last night with my son? Is that more direct?"

She looked like she'd been shot between the eyes.

He laughed. "Well I'm glad you had a nice time, but if you don't stop daydreaming you're going to end up in a lot of pain." He powered up.

She smiled. "Don't sweat it. I'm focused. " She pushed a lock of her spiky, yellow hair out of her eyes.

Trunks was in his office. Now the date was over and it was back to being the very busy CEO of Capsule Corp. He sat in front of his computer typing away.

He had had a great time with Amara last night. He closed his eyes. He could almost feel the touch of her lips upon his. The smell of her hair, her body, still perfumed the air around him. He wanted her. He wanted her so very badly.

Trunks had dated many girls before, but none had affected him this way before. And she had said no to him last night. She said she didn't want to have sex with him, not yet.

He smiled. Not yet…that meant he could have her later. He couldn't resist her and by the look in her eyes last night, she was having trouble resisting him as well.

He opened his eyes and his finger touched down on a key. He looked up in shock as his entire document had been cancelled out.

"Fuck!" he said, slamming his fists down on the desk. "Four hours of work down the drain! Damn it all!"

He shut down the computer in disgust and leaned back in his chair. He picked up a magazine and flipped through the pages.

He stopped on a page with a beautiful raven-haired woman in an ad for shampoo. He looked at the picture and for just for a moment he saw Amara. He shook his head and threw the magazine down on the desk.

He rubbed his eyes with his hands. "What's wrong with me? Why can't I get my mind off of her?"

There was a knock on the door.

"Come in," Trunks said, without looking up.

"Hey man." It was Goten's voice. "What's up? Are you all right?"

Trunks looked up at his childhood buddy. "Yeah, I'm okay. Just a little tired."

Goten plopped down in a chair across from Trunks. "Tired huh? Well I guess there's no need to ask if you and Amara had a good time last night." He chuckled.

"What?" Trunks asked. "No, it's not like that. Amara and I didn't have sex."

Goten raised an eyebrow at him. "Kami, Trunks, give me a little credit would you? I'm not that dense. When I came over to you and her on the sand last night…or would that be this morning…" He paused. "…well anyway, you two were half naked and clinging to each other like magnets. If nothing happened then I'm not going to believe nothing happen when you got home."

"But nothing happened!" Trunks said. "She…said she didn't want to…"

"Oooh," Goten said. "Rejected."

"Did you come here to be an ass or was there some other reason?" Trunks asked angrily.

Goten raised his hands in mock surrender. "I'm sorry! I was just kidding. It's all right. Not everyone can have an ideal relationship like me…"

"Oh, so are you saying that you and Stella…"

Goten blushed hard. "No! Remember, I'm still in high school! Plus Stella and I made a promise…"

"Okay okay." Trunks laughed. "I don't need to know all the details."

"So where is Amara anyway?" Goten asked.

"Probably still training with my dad."

"Does she train a lot?"

Trunks nodded.

"Uh-oh, another Vegeta," Goten said.

Trunks laughed. "No I don't think she's that obsessed."

"Have you seen her fight?"

Trunks shook his head.

"Can she go Super Saiyan?"

Trunks started to say no, but paused. "I'm not sure."

"That would be cool if she could," Goten said. "It would be different to see a girl go super."

Trunks agreed. "I think I'm going to have to find out just how strong she really is."

"Are you working now?" Goten asked.

"Well, I'm supposed to be," he said, glancing at his computer. "But I can't seem to focus." When Goten started looking at him suspiciously, he added, "I'm too tired. I only have an hour or so left of work, so I think I'll call it a day."

"'Kay," Goten said, standing. "I was just dropping by to say hi. I'm on my way to Stella's house. We're going out to dinner with her dad." He grimaced. "Mr. Sterling Glamour."

"Does he still disapprove of you? I thought you two were getting along now."

"Oh, he disapproves of me," Goten said. "He can't help it, but he pretends he doesn't."

"Why's that?"

"Because I'm not rich or famous," Goten said. "He probably never thought his lovely daughter would fall in love with an ordinary guy like me." He shrugged. "But it's been about a year now, and as far as I can tell, Stella and I aren't going to separate."

"That's good," Trunks said. "Don't let him get to you."

"Right," he said. "See ya later."

"Bye."

~~~
Trunks lay on the couch and stared at the ceiling.
"Hey what's up?" a sweet voice asked.
Trunks lifted his head to see Amara standing on the other side of the couch. She was wearing a pair of baggy light blue pajama pants and a white tank top.
"Nothing," Trunks said.
Amara looked up and saw a movie on the television screen. "Oh so you're watching a movie?"
"Huh?" Trunks asked.
He had come into the lounge with the intention of watching a movie, but had gotten too caught up in his thoughts.
"Do you mind if I join you?" she asked.
"No," Trunks said, moving into a sitting position.
She hopped over the back of the couch and took a seat next to the purple-haired teen. She looked into his blue eyes and smiled.
"So how was your day?" she asked.
Trunks shrugged. "It was all right. But it looks like you and Dad were training pretty intensely." He touched the cut on her left cheek.
She laughed. "Yeah, we got a little carried away. We went from a friendly training session to fighting like our lives depended on it."
Trunks smiled. He observed the swell of her breasts that showed just below the neckline of her tank top. He wanted to reach out and touch her, but he shook his head.
Amara devoted her attention to the television screen and Trunks was more interested in her than the movie. Amara could sense his gaze on her and she turned. She raised her eyebrows questioningly at him.
"I was just wondering…how strong are you? Can you go Super Saiyan?"
She grinned, secretively. "You'll just have to wait and see when I take you on."
"You want to fight me?" he asked.
"Sure, it would be fun."
He laughed.
"But that will happen later," Amara assured him. "Now let's watch the movie."
"Okay."
~~~

Trunks woke with a start. He couldn't remember where he was. He looked around for a moment as he heard talking. He looked up at the television and smiled. He'd fallen asleep in the middle of the movie.

He looked down to see Amara's head in his lap. Her face turned away from him.

He panicked at first, not sure what to do? Should he wake her? No. He saw how peaceful she looked when she was asleep.

He glanced at the clock displayed on the television. It read 12:24 AM.

He turned off the television and lifted Amara in his arms. She moaned, softly and snuggled up against his chest. He carried her up to her room.

He opened the bedroom door with one hand and entered the room. He placed her gently down on the bed and pulled the sheets up to her collarbone.

He reached out and touched her soft cheek. Amara sighed and reached up at his hand. He froze as she grabbed his wrist and pulled his hand down her face.

She twisted in her sleep and let her hand find his. Trunks entwined his fingers with hers.

She opened her eyes and looked at him. He smiled and bent down towards her. His lips brushed hers and she grabbed a handful of his shirt. She pulled him down onto the bed.

He pulled the covers off of her body and slid his hands under her tank top. She wrapped her hands around his wrists and held his hands in place.

"Not tonight," she said.

Trunks looked up at her serious face. He collapsed on top of her. "But Amara…we can't keep going on like this. No one has ever affected me like this, I need you…I'm going crazy…"

She stroked his hair and he moved so that his head was on her stomach.

"You don't need me, Trunks," she said.

"Yes, I do," he said, running his fingers along the hem of her pants. "You have no idea…"

"Oh I think I do," she said, very matter-of-factly.

He looked up at her. "Then why do you continue to reject me?"

"I'm not rejecting you," she said. "I'm postponing this."

"Why?"

"I'm waiting for the right moment."

"But I love you so much."

She sat up, causing him to move off of her. He sat across from her and looked at her, confused. "What's wrong?"

"You said you loved me," Amara whispered as if she couldn't find her voice.

He nodded. "I do." An idea came over him. "I know what's wrong. You think I'm only going want you for the sex and then leave you high and dry." He laughed. "Don't be silly." He took her hands. "You're different from any other girl I've come in contact with."

"You can't have fallen in love with me," she said, turning her head away.

He put his finger under her chin and turned her head to face him. "I have."

Tears glittered in her dark eyes. She threw her arms around him. "Oh Trunks, ever since I've woken up out of my cryogenic state I've felt so alone. But then there was you… I only wanted to be held by someone who really loved me…and it's you."

Trunks held her and rubbed her back. "Don't cry, Amara. I'm here for you, my love. I won't ever leave you. You're mine and I'm yours."

She pulled back. "You can have me, Trunks. All of me."

His eyes widened and he smiled, warmly at her. "Not tonight."

She frowned, slightly.

"My Dad's awake now. I can hear him moving around. I don't want to worry about him hearing us and I don't want any distractions."

She nodded. "I agree, but don't leave me alone tonight."

He kissed her and forced her to lay back on her pillows. He encircled her in his arms and moved beside her. "I'll stay for a while." He kissed her temple. "Oh Amara…I love you."

"I love you, too," she said, her eyelids felt heavy with fatigue.

Before she fell asleep, she spoke softly, "Trunks?"

"Hmm?"

"I'm glad I was frozen," she said. "If I wouldn't have been, I would have never met you. I suppose some good did come from all of this."

"It was fate," he said. "We were meant to be together and we're obeying our destinies."

She smiled and fell asleep. Trunks sat up and looked at her for a moment. She was absolutely beautiful.

Trunks went to the bedroom door and gave her one last glance before leaving. "Goodnight, Amara."
