Chapter 1

Videl awoke with the sun heading off to her father's training room. She worked out for two hours before hurrying to make breakfast before her father awoke.

“Morning father.” She said as Hercule trudged into the room.

“Morning.” He replied gruffly. He sat down and Videl placed his breakfast before him. She noticed that he was very pale. “Are you feeling alright this morning father?” She asked.

Hercule sniffed and coughed hard into his hand. “Fine. Just a little cold is all. I have to get to work.”

Hercule worked as a security guard at one of the warehouses by the space ship docking bay in Orange Star City. Videl's mother had died of pneumonia when Videl was young while her father was away fighting Frieza's men as a skirmisher in the saiyan army. A skirmisher was a division where men fought off those of Frieza's men who tried to attack and hijack saiyan trade ships. Ever since then Videl had been afraid of her father getting sick as well.

“Are you sure father?”

“I am positive!” Hercule said adamantly jumping up and heading for the door. Before he left he gave a loud cough and glared at Videl. “Now you make sure to get to work on time. No more training you hear me!” He said sternly.

Videl groaned. Her father did not approve of her training. He was trying desperately to find her a husband, but she was too muscular too look gentile and feminine and she was far too intimidating. “Oh father! I won't be late!” She said taking off her apron and grabbing her bag. She ran out the door giving her father a kiss on the cheek before she ran down the street.

`Why doesn't he understand?' She thought shaking her head as she ran down the city blocks, keeping tight corners.

Videl worked in a bar down town. She was used to seeing all kinds of ruffians and scum and a few good guys on a downer.

She had no problem being a bar maid because she could handle herself. She had no reason to fear any of the men at the bar.

She ran into the backroom and threw her backpack and coat in her locker. “Wow! On time today hey girl?!” Videl's friend and co worker Erasa mocked her as she dressed in her work clothes. Standard uniform for them were tight black dresses that hugged their curves and went to mid thigh. Videl pulled her long black hair into a tight ponytail atop her head and glanced in the mirror. “Very funny Erasa.” Videl shot back. “Now enough jabbering let's get to work. The sooner we start the sooner we can leave!” Videl put emphasis on leave as they walked into the bar.

The morning was always pretty slow accept the drunks left over from the night before and a few saiyan soldiers Videl had never seen before. The intricacy of their armor made her wonder at their rank. As usual she and the other girls had to swat a few hands away, but nothing major.

At around 2 the saiyan soldiers had been there for a few hours and were starting to get very rowdy.

“Hey babe. You want to know what a real saiyan feels like.” One of the bulkier ones made a pass at Erasa and she just made a disgusted face and turned away, but the guy grabbed her arm and said, “Oh come on girly! I'll pay you for it.”

“Ew! Let me go!” Erasa squealed trying to pull away from him. Videl saw the argument and she groaned.

“Here we go!” She said to herself. She walked over and said as polite as she could. “Could you please let her go sir?”

The saiyan just grinned at her and let go only to grab her instead. “Oh so you want some do you?” He said in a drunken daze.

Videl growled and pulled an arm back about to punch him in the face, but before she could release the loaded punch she heard the door open and the saiyan that was holding her abruptly let go and she stumbled back. Erasa grabbed her arm to keep her from recharging the man and they both turned to look at their savior.

A young man with short black spiky hair stood in the door glaring at the men at the table. The three saiyans abruptly stood, bowed their heads and placed their right fist over their hearts.

For a few moments nothing was said and then the young man spoke. “Back to the ship now!”

“Yes sir!” They all said in unison before running out the door. The young man looked at Videl and Erasa and bowed from the waist.

“My apologies ladies.” He looked back up at them and Videl saw his eyes. They were dark, but they shined with an emotion she couldn't name, possible disappointment.

With out another word he turned and left. There was silence for a few moments before Erasa spoke. “He didn't even have a drink?”

How's it look so far?
