Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Blue Haired Argetlam ❯ A Story ( Chapter 2 )

"No, I haven't," Bra said.
"Well..Alagaësia is where I am really from," Vegeta said.
"It's a planet?"
"That I don't quite know; but anyway, Alagaësia is in a different dimension. The saiyans are, and always have been, merely
a sort of, for lack of a better word, evolution of elves. They are many times stronger than their elven brethren, who are in turn many times stronger than the average human. In Alagaësia, they lived in an enormous forest, called Du Weldenvarden--I once lived there with my father."
"Your father wasn't always a king?"
"Well, no," Vegeta replied, "And getting back on the subject, my father and I, plus a number of other saiyan elves, were
sent to a group of people called the Varden. This was about.." He started counting, then continued, "Forty years or more
ago. I was three years old, and I can remember the event clearly. Why? Because I was the one to carry the egg that has now hatched for you. The saiyan-elves had had possession of a dragon egg for a long time, they hid it from the other elves because they were afraid, afraid that if they told the others, that the evil King Galbatorix would somehow catch word of it."
"Who is King Galbatorix?" Bra asked.
"Are you going to let me finish?" Vegeta replied.
Bra nodded and became quiet.
"On the way to the Varden, the saiyan elves were attacked by a group of Urgals. Urgals are hideous, dumb, but very effective in battle, or at least against humans they were. In any case, during the attack, the saiyan-elves shouted while
powering up to kill the Urgals so much that they--"
"Tore a hole between dimensions with their combined energy?" said a male voice. It was Trunks.
"Exactly," said Vegeta. "That's how they came to Planet Vegeta. My father was chosen to rule the saiyan-elves, because of
his natural leadership abilities. And so it proceeded. I carried the egg with me for the longest time..I had it while I served Frieza, and after that..well, until now."
"Wow," Bra said, stroking her dragon's tiny--and still slightly damp--wings.
"So what are you going to do now?" Trunks asked.
"Simple. I'm going to train Bra," Vegeta stated.
"In the gravity room?"
"No, Trunks, in magic. Since she is a Dragon Rider now, she will need to know magic. Dragons and magic go hand in hand, you know."
Bulma stepped into the kitchen, "You're telling me you're an ELF?"
Vegeta did a double take and asked, "How long have you been standing there and listening?"
"A good while."
"I should have known better than to try to have a conversation out of earshot of you." Vegeta grinned slightly.
"Yes, you should have. You say our daughter has a strange marking on her palm because of her status as a Dragon Rider?" Bulma asked.
Vegeta nodded.
"It suddenly occurs to me why you wear gloves."
"I just wear gloves because--" Vegeta started to talk, but was cut off by Bulma.
"Because you, too, are a Dragon Rider?"
"No."
"Don't lie to me, Vegeta."
"Okay..okay..." Vegeta muttered.
He took off his gloves, then showed Bulma, Bra and Trunks the palm of his left hand.
The gedwey ignasia was there.
"If you're a Dragon Rider, where's your dragon?" Trunks asked.
Vegeta sighed and said, "I was two and a half years old; and happened to be exploring the forest. I found what looked like a cave, and out of curiosity looked through it. I found two dragon eggs, and brought them back to my father. One of the eggs hatched, I touched it...and well, you know the rest. When the saiyan-elves left for the Varden, my dragon, then six months old, stayed with the elves. She told me she would not go with the rest of them to the Varden--I think she was scared of what the humans might have thought of her, since the Varden's last dealings had been with King Galbatorix and his dragon."
"Vegeta, you surprise me. You came from that background and never told me?" Bulma asked, sounding quite offended.
"I couldn't tell you, Bulma. I knew with your inquiring mind I would soon end up with more and more to explain and I was..afraid..of your reaction."
"Well, I'm not mad. One thing, though. You have to tell Goku."
"Tell Kakorot?" Vegeta asked, "But why?"
"You know perfectly well WHY, Vegeta," Bulma replied, "Goku is a saiyan, like you. He deserves to know what he is, and where his people really came from."
"I'm just worried that Kakorot's tiny brain may not be able to comprehend the whole idea," Vegeta said flatly.
"Vegeta one more line like that and you're sleeping on the sofa for a week," Bulma replied threateningly, "Now. I am having a party tomorrow. Goku and his family have been invited, and I want you to explain this whole thing to Goku. He may not be as smart as you are, but he can be serious enough to try to understand what you'll be telling him."
"So, dad," Trunks said, "I was just thinking..how big do dragons get?"
"Fairly large. Dragons have rapid growth spurts in their first three months of life. After that their growth is a bit more steady, but they never do stop growing. Some of the ancient dragons were as large as hills, and could have easily been mistaken for one."
Bulma's jaw dropped. "That big? If that's true, Vegeta, then Bra's dragon will have to go around where Goku lives when it gets too big to be in the city. We can't have a huge dragon just roaming the city, it could get dangerous."
Vegeta said, "Well now that that's resolved, what should we name the dragon?"
"It has to be a good name," Bra said, "A cool name, but I don't want to make it sound like a desperately-trying-to-be-cool name."
"How about we eat first?" Trunks asked. "We can all think better on a full stomach. And mom, please let me cook."
"You guys have no faith in me at all," Bulma said, laughing.
"Well..Alagaësia is where I am really from," Vegeta said.
