Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ C.S.S. ❯ Not Just Any Assignment ( Chapter 1 )
Author's Note pt. 1: Here's a new story from yours truly. Something new that I'm testing out, so if you like it, please review and let me know. If you don't, still review and let me know. =) This is my first Action/Adventure/Romance fic, although, the action and adventure won't come in until about chapter 4 or 5. But it will be a blast until then, I promise. ^.~ As it states in the pre-summary, this is a V/B, and a K/CC. It may have one more couple, but I'm not entirely sure yet. Here are some things you should know before I begin the fic:
~*~ It's an A/U that takes place first on Chikyuu, then on Vegetasei. Vegetasei was never destroyed by Freeza, but he definitely tried (it's explained in this chapter). Yaumcha is in this fic, but he and Bulma never dated. They are just friends, and trust me, that's all they're going to be. Bulma, Yaumcha, and Chi-Chi all work for the C.S.S. (Chikyuu Secret Services), and are all partners. Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer: I don't own DBZ. 'nuff said.
C.S.S. - Not Just Any Assignment
There was lots of pointless chatter going through the C.S.S. office that was located on the top floor of their building that was located in the Western Capital. The office was filled with Agents, most of whom didn't have assignments or cases. The elevator at the far left end of the room beeped and opened up. The occupants of the room glanced toward the direction, and the chatter quickly died down.
A woman in her early twenties stepped out of the elevator. She was beautiful. She was wearing a gray tank top that revealed a generous part of her stomach, with a pair of drawstrings lounging pants, and a pair of clear flip-flops. Her long black hair was pulled up into a ponytail. She removed the sunglasses that were on her face and flipped them up onto her head, revealing her beautiful onyx eyes. The occupants in the room were gawking at her, not because of her beauty, but because she was alone. Usually she was with another beautiful female with blue hair and eyes, and a tall handsome man. She was walking down the hall to meet with her General. When she approached the closed door, she knocked, and opened it when she heard a voice call out, "It's open." She walked in and sat down in front of the desk that the short man was sitting behind. He smiled at her.
"Hello, Chi-Chi." The man said as he extended a hand out to her. "How are you?"
"Fine, thanks." She smiled back, shaking the man's hand. He glanced over her attire and frowned a bit. Although she was beautiful, she looked a bit shabby today.
"What's with the attire?"
"This?" She looked down at her clothes and smiled. "Oh, I was cleaning today. It is my vacation you know, meaning, I'm not suppose to be anywhere near the office."
"You're welcome to come here anytime you wish, you know that."
"Yeah, but it seems like every time we come, you always have another assignment for us."
"Speaking of your partners, where are they? I called them and left messages for them to come."
" It's Thursday. Bulma and Yaumcha have salsa dancing lessons on Thursday nights."
"Oh, yeah I forgot about that." The man said as he ran a hand through his short, thick black hair.
"Anyway, why am I here Krillin? We can have small talk on the phone, and I need to finish cleaning my kitchen." Chi-Chi said as she frowned at him.
"Well, I have some exciting news for you."
Chi-Chi perked up at this. "Really? Don't tell me that you and the top forces are finally going to give us recognition for our work?"
"Uh…no. Sorry, Chi-Chi. Actually, this is for an assignment."
Krillin had to jump out of his seat to avoid Chi-Chi lunging angrily at him. Then he began blocking random desktop objects being thrown at him. While doing all this, she began screaming at him.
"WHAT!!! We just got off an assignment two days ago! We're supposed to be on our vacation."
"I know, but…"
"But, nothing! Kami, why don't you get one of those agents in there to take on this? Every time I come in here, they are always sitting on their ass doing nothing, while we get all the work!"
"I thought you liked your job, Chi-Chi." Krillin said as he noticed that there was nothing else that she could throw at him. He sighed hard and sat back down at his desk.
"I do." She said just above a whisper as she sat down, still angry with him. She crossed her arms and stared at him.
Krillin felt really bad for the trio. They were getting worked to death while the other agents around the office did nothing. But the trio was good. They've made some of the biggest busts in all of Chikyuu. They worked very well together, and they were rather quick in doing their job. The only downfall was that they weren't getting recognized like they should. Actually, they didn't get recognized at all. The top forces treated them like any other C.S.S. agent. Very Shitty. He knew that they needed them, and if they decided to leave, all of Chikyuu would be doomed.
"I know that we promised you all some vacation time, but this really important case came up, and it requires your expertise. Otherwise, I would have given it to one of those shitbags in there."
Chi-Chi giggled a little at Krillin. He was a friend, and she knew that at least he appreciated the work that they did. 'I swear if Krillin wasn't here, we would probably start our own agency…' "You're lucky you're my friend. So anyway, what's this assignment that we have?" She said, rather boredly.
Krillin gave her a serious glare before dropping a manila folder in front of her. "Not just any assignment. This one is nothing like you've ever had."
Chi-Chi raised an eyebrow at him, before opening the folder. In the folder was a file and a picture that was paper-clipped to the folder. She unattached the picture and took a closer look at it. It was a headshot of a man. It was a black and white picture, so it didn't show much detail, but it showed that the man was in his mid-twenties and he had long spiky hair.
"He's kinda cute." She said as she looked at Krillin again. "Who is he?"
"His name is Radditz. He's a Saiyan Elite."
"A Saiyan?" Chi-Chi said surprised. "We don't do Saiyan cases."
"Well, we do now." He noticed her tilt her head to the side a little confused by all of this, so he continued to explain. " Ok, here's the deal. Ten years ago, The King of Vegetasei, King Vegeta, made a shady alliance with Freeza. Well, King Vegeta didn't think it was shady at the time. Freeza wanted to be rid of all Saiyans for as long as anyone could remember, and when we all found out about their alliance, we feared the worst. Thankfully King Vegeta found out before Freeza could attack and he destroyed him and all of his troops. But little did he know that three of Frezia's henchmen survived. "Krillin took out two more pictures from out of his desk drawer and threw them on the desk in front of Chi-Chi. He smiled as he watched her face turn up at one of the pictures and he knew just the one she was looking at. "That's Dodoria, and the other one is Zarbon. They were the survivors. There was one more, but we have nothing on him, but we believe it to be Radditz."
"But," Chi-Chi said as she put the pictures in a pile, "Why would Radditz be involved in it. He's a Saiyan."
"That's what I want you to find out. Apparently, Radditz just came back to Vegetasei about a year ago. He said that he was stuck on another planet, but that sounds horribly wrong. It doesn't even match up. He's now one of the King's Elite soldiers. He has a brother named Kakkarot, but he's the Prince's Elite soldier."
"Do you think his brother is a part of this as well?"
"I doubt it. He's never really known of his brother until last year when Radditz came back to Vegetasei. Kakkarot's been there forever. He never left."
"Oh…"
"Well, anyway, back to the assignment. I need the three of you to find out if Radditz is hanging out with these two, and if he is, why is he and what are they planning to do. I've got a feeling that they will try and take over Vegetasei, but I'm not quite sure what their intentions are."
"How long will we have to be gone?"
"Well, it depends on when everything goes down. It might be for a while."
"There's one more thing that's bothering me. Can't the Saiyans sense this kind of thing, and even if they can't, won't they be able to destroy these three with their strength? They are powerful, you know."
"Yeah, I know that they are powerful, but the Saiyans have yet to find out about these three and it proves that they are clever and that what ever they are up to they feel the need to be secretive about it. The Saiyans would never agree to us wanting to help, so we'll do it without them knowing."
Chi-Chi nodded in agreement. "Ok, so when do we leave?"
"Tomorrow morning. It will take you about a day to get there. Oh, and when you get there, you'll need these." Krillin opened his desk drawer again and pulled out three pieces of paper and gave them to Chi-Chi. "I did a little job searching for you guys and I found three jobs around the palace. I've assigned each of you to the one that most fits your personalities."
Chi-Chi looked at the jobs he picked for the three of them and smiled. "Bulma's going to be the Prince's guard, Yaumcha's going to be a palace janitor, and I'm going to be a palace cook?" Great. I see we'll be going undercover, huh?"
"Kind of. They won't suspect anything because Chikyuuians visit Vegetasei all the time. There are a few of us who live there as well. You just can't alert people that you are working for the C.S.S. Particularly the Royals of the palace, because Radditz is among them. Vegetasei would never agree to our help, especially since our suspect is also a Saiyan. They are very loyal to their own kind."
"I know. Well, is that everything?" Chi-Chi began as she got up from out of her chair. Krillin got up also.
"Yup, that's all of it. Just call me when you get there."
"We will." Chi-Chi leaned over to hug her friend. "We'll miss you."
Krillin blushed a little. "Aww, stop it Chi, you guys aren't going to be gone that long. And you know what? I bet this is just the thing that will get you guys your recognition. I bet you guys are gonna get promoted the moment you get back."
"Really?!?" Chi-Chi yelled, hurting Krillin's ears. "Sorry."
"It's ok. Just brief Bulma and Yaumcha on what I told you."
"Alrighty," Chi-Chi turned to walk out the door. "I almost forgot to ask. How's your wife?"
Krillin smiled widely at the mention of his woman. "18's fine. She's having the baby any day now."
"Wonderful. It's gonna be a girl, right?"
"Gosh, I hope so, if we do, we've decided to name her Marron."
"Marron? I like it. Well, I'd better go and tell Bulma and Yaumcha. Talk to you soon Krillin."
"Ok, see ya." Krillin watched her walk out of the door and he took his seat once more.
"Gook Luck to all of you."
~*~
Chi-Chi walked back to her car smiling happily. This is just what they needed. They could finally get their respect, have some fun, and get a promotion all in one shot. She grabbed her purse and went into, pulling out her cell phone. She dialed the number to Bulma's cell. 'Kami, I hope she answers…'
~*~
"OUCH!!! Stay off my toes, Yaumcha!"
"Well if you would watch where you're placing yours, I wouldn't stepped on them, now would I, Bulma?!"
This was the scene every Tuesday and Thursday at their Salsa Dancing class. They always fussed when they practiced, but when the instructor played their song, they were incredible. They only argued when they danced. They were Best friends, but more like brother and sister. They'd know each other since they were little, and she always looked up to him as her big brother since he was 25 and she was 21.
They were staring at each other angrily, when Bulma's cell phone began to ring. Yaumcha lightened expression and tickled her side a bit. She giggled and pulled away from him as she answered her phone.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Bulma!"
Bulma looked over to Yaumcha with a look of "Uh oh" on her face. He simply frowned. He knew what was coming next.
"What's up Chi-Chi?" Bulma sighed.
"Don't sound so down, Bulma girl!" Chi-Chi said happily. "We've got an assignment!"
