Common Differences- The Tournament Begins
The gate to the arena opened to admit Ryoko, Syra, and the rest of the Z warriors. Ryoko looked around with interest. “Wow, coffee shops and fighting in one. Nice.”
As the path split, the part of the group that was just going to watch went on the right fork as the actual fighters went on the left.
“Where are we meeting the Kai? I just want to get this ridiculous thing over with,” stated Vegeta.
“He said by the sign up table,” Goku said as the table starting coming into view. He didn't see Kaiobit yet, though he noticed a fairly short, cloaked figure. He wouldn't have given them much attention had they not been levitating a foot off of the ground. He watched the person as they leaned against the wall by the table with their arms crossed. The brown hood turned in his direction for a moment before the person's gave fell to the ground.
“...As I was saying,” Vegeta's annoyed voice broke into Goku's observation. “The Kai isn't here yet.”
“Actually, I am,” Kaiobit stated as he appeared from behind one of the palm trees planted by the path. He smiled a greeting to the group. “Shall we sign in now?”
“Sounds like an idea,” replied Ryoko.
The group approached the table. They each stated their names to the officials who wrote the names down. The cloaked person's head was towards the group again, their gaze staying on the fighters even as the group left to go to the area where it would be decided who would participate in the fighting.

The ki levels of the people approaching startled her. After being around so many people with low ki levels, she was beginning to wonder if she'd have any real competition. One of the people, the one who had the highest ki level, looked at her. She supposed the levitating had caught his attention.
“I guess the Kai isn't here yet, Kakarott. Let's just sign in already,” the shorter man with tall, flame shaped hair sneered.
Kaio?
She lowered her head in thought as she didn't want to attract more attention from the members of the group. So, there was a Kaio. But was the Kaio going to fight? What class were they? Would they be able to sense who she really was?
“Stupid Kakarott, pay attention! Now, as I was saying,” the man who spoke before said. “The Kai isn't here yet.”
“Actually, I am,” the purple deity stated.
She looked up at the group, her stare lasting the longest on Kaiobit. This was their Kaio? Judging from his ki level, he must be one of the higher classes. She watched them as they signed in, and continued to as they walked off. 'Well, perhaps this day will hold more surprises. If I could get them to help me...This could be interesting.'
After the group disappeared from sight, she approached the table.
“Your name, please,” stated the official in a bored voice.
“...Alyese.”

Ryoko yawned as she poked the punching machine. She was the last of the gang to go, and was heartily bored from the waiting. She wanted to start the fighting now, but after this would be the food. The wonderful food.
When the last person had gone and the fighters announced, the gang headed to eat. While the Saiyans filled their stomachs as rapidly as they could, Kaiobit stood by a window. He watched the activities going on around the building. He was worried when he realized he couldn't sense a high ki. There were three fighters whose kis were higher than average, but not alarmingly so. Two looked like normal humans, but one hid their appearance. Goku had noticed the third levitating before, so Kaiobit decided to watch that particular one.
After the Saiyans ate their fill, the group walked down to the area where their fighting order would be determined. Everyone waited as the officials prepared the board and the new announcer filled the box with numbered tennis balls.
“Alright now. I'll just start callin' the names,” the announcer, Mike, said. “How about we get Neimal up here?”
The taller of the humans with abnormally high ki stepped up to the podium. He brushed his shoulder length black hair away from his handsome face as he reached into the box.
“Wow, glad Arora isn't here,” Ryoko muttered to Goten, who nodded. The man was definitely good-looking around to catch Arora's eye.
The muscles along Neimal's tattooed arm flexed as he grasped a ball and pulled it out.
“Number five.”
"All right, five for Neimal. Let's get Trunks"
The purple haired teen walked up to the box. He swished his hand around before grabbing a ball. He looked at it, then the board. “I'm number eight.”
"Eight for Tunks...How about Kaiobit"
Kaiobit closed his eyes as he reached in. He pulled out a ball, then smiled. “Number four.”
“Right then. Now Josh?”
The young man silently picked his ball and gave it to Mike, who read off number ten. Kaiobit looked towards Josh. His level was fairly high for a human's as well.
Most of the people had their numbers now. Krillin picked nine, Number 18 was two, Goku fourteen, Vegeta eleven, Goten one, Ryoko twelve, and Piccolo six.
“Now let's have...Alyese?” Mike looked about for the fighter.
The cloaked person slowly walked forward. She silently reached her gloved hand into the box, then slowly removed it. The ball was handed to Mike before Alyese returned to her spot.
“Number three. Now, last but not least, Shuiken.”
Kaiobit watched the cloaked figure retreat. A woman? The name was certainly feminine.
“And number seven,” Mike announced. “So, in the first round we have Goten and Number 18, the second round Alyese and Kaiobit, the third round Neimal and Piccolo, the fourth is Shuiken against Trunks, the fifth Krillin and Josh, the sixth Vegeta and Ryoko, the seventh Kes and Goku, and the eighth round is Killa versus Shinto. Remember the rules, folks. Good luck!”
