Revelation
Yamcha stood over the lifeless body at his feet. Already, the still moist eyes were collecting grains of sand like glue, making the whites a dull brown. Eyes that would never again look upon family and friends because he resisted the Desert Bandit.
It was Yamcha’s first kill.
For a year, he survived in the barren wasteland between two thriving cities, fighting and stealing from those who dared to travel through his territory. In his mind, he justified his actions by blaming the rich for his poverty; his thievery meant to balance the scales, not tip his soul toward hell.
“I’m no longer a thief,” Yamcha thought. “I’m a murderer.”
He emptied his stomach beside the uncomplaining corpse being slowly swallowed up by the desert sand. The feel of the man’s snapping neck still imprinted on his hands, Yamcha knew he had stepped foot down a path of no return.
