Oasis Meeting
“And that’s why I’m here,” Yamcha said with a sigh, stretching out in the cool shade of the lone palm tree. “This is the only place I could think of that doesn’t have girls.”
“That was a great idea, Yamcha,” Puar said. “Girls don’t like the desert. You could probably go your whole life without meeting one here.”
“That’s the idea. What about you, Puar? What brings you to this oasis?”
Puar shuffled his toes in the sand. “I was teased a lot at shape-changing school because I’m so small. When I left, I was afraid to go out into the big world. So I guess I’m hiding, too.”
“We’re a pretty sorry pair,” Yamcha chuckled, patting the little cat on the head. “Why don’t you stick with me?”
“Really? You’d let me stay with you?”
“I could sure use the company, if you don’t mind hanging around “The Desert Bandit”.”
“Thanks, Yamcha! I can cook, clean and transform into anything you need.”
“I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship, Puar.”
The new companions watched the heat shimmering off the desert sand, each lost in their own thoughts of the days ahead – free of girls and pigs.
