Goku called forth his nimbus, and he jumped onto the floating cloud beside him eagerly. Bulma clicked her tongue at this. "What's wrong, Bulma??"
"It's not fair!! You get to fly, and I have to walk!! You know, it's not very comfortable walking in these!!!" she shouted, showing her feet, and the sandals she was wearing.
"You didn't seem to have a problem about three years ago." he simply shrugged.
"Yes, that was three years ago!! This is now, and I don't feel like walking!!!" she cried.
"But... you can't get on nimbus. You'll just fall through." he added dubiously. "Unless you want to sit on my lap." he suggested. Bulma blushed crimson red at this. She had never sat on a guys lap before, but if it meant not having to walk, it was probably one of the best ideas she had heard all day.
She motioned towards the cloud, and bit her lip, unsure of what to do next.
"I'll lower it down, and I could pick you up."
"Okay." she nodded.
He lowered the cloud so that it was barely touching the ground. And with his inhuman strength, he picked her up, off the ground, and placed her on his lap, so that her legs were across him, and Bulma grabbed onto him securely. Her mom would collapse if she saw her in this position.
"Are you comfortable??"
"Yeah." she said, staring at the ground beneath her.
"Hold on tight!!"
She held on tighter, and off they went, into the sky, they were almost three hundred feet into the air. Bulma held on even tighter, and wrapped her arms around his neck, nearly choking him to death. Goku choked, coughed as the grip on his neck only became tighter, his face was turning into a shade of blue, almost like the color of her hair.
"Bulma....need...air...let...go...gonna...die!!!!" he sputtered.
Bulma realized where her arms had been, and let go quickly, holding onto his shoulder now. Goku gasped, and his breath was finally back to normal. "That was a close one." he grinned nervously.
"Sorry." she murmured, sweating profusely. She turned around, and noticed that they were above a mountain now. They were moving slower now, and she felt the cool breeze on her face. She could smell the crisp cool air, it reminded her of the old days. Goku smiled behind her, holding her so that she wouldn't fall through. He shivered, and gave Bulma a tiny squeeze on her shoulder.
"What is it Son-kun?"
He stayed still, and sniffed. "Something's wrong here..." he said, now looking around with observant eyes.
"What are you talking around?"
It was when they reached the other side of the mountain, they saw a stream of smoke emanating from it. Without taking any chances, the nimbus cloud took them directly to that spot, to see what was the cause of it. The sight before them was devastating.
Dead bodies piled atop of the other in many groups, and some of the shrines were burnt to ashes. There were also body parts laying by the piles, accompanied by several bones. They have never seen so many dead bodies before in their lives.
"What... happened here??" she gulped, jumping back when her foot collided against a severed head. "What did all this??"
After what seemed like a millennium, Goku and Bulma buried the dead, and gave each an everyone a blessing. Bulma approached Goku weakly, her arms covered in blood, and dirt.
"Was that the last one?"
Goku shook his head. "Theres still more"
She stared at him, and at the look in his face. His eyebrows were ever so slanted, giving him that serious, and tough look. She still couldn't believe that this was the Goku from three years ago. He had really grown up... into a young adult. Has she changed as much as he did during those three years??
"Someone's here." warned Goku, as Bulma was off in her own little world. She turned around, and sure enough, through the haze of the smoke was a silhouette coming towards them. Bulma grasped the handle of her katana, wondering if this person was responsible for the bloody massacre that just took place there.
The mist began to clear away, revealing a thin framed girl with black flowing hair. She collapsed at their feet.
"Chi-chi!!!" Goku placed her in his arms, brushing her hair out of her face, and stroking the burnt marks on her cheeks. Blood began to seep out from several cuts from her body, and it spilled onto Goku's training gi's.
"Chi-chi?? Speak to me, I know you can do this!! Chi-chi!!" Goku pleaded, shaking her frame thoroughly. Bulma tore off a piece of material from one of the many corpses laying on the ground, and wrapped it around Chi-chi's right arm like a bandage. There was a very large cut running from her forearm, to her wrist, she had to cover it to stop the bleeding.
Finally, her eyes fluttered open, and Goku backed away from her slightly, giving her space to breathe. She stared at Goku, and at Bulma, and her eyes clamped shut in pain. "Son...kun...." she said weakly.
"Who did this to you?!?"
Chi-chi shook her head, and her hands tightened on him. "I... I don't know... he killed my father...." she said, tears now falling freely from her cheeks.
"They killed the Ox King??!!" Bulma shouted in disbelief.
"Killed... everyone... wiped out... all dead..." she whispered, her voice lowering by the passing second.
"Chi-chi... hang on!! Stay with me!!" he pleaded, as her eyes were beginning to loose it's lustrous shine.
"Killed... my father... please find him, Son-kun... please find him, to...." Her eyes went completely blank, as death finally took upon her. The hand that was gripping his training gi was now loose, and fell limply on his thigh. Goku’s face was torn with confusion, anger, befuddlement, and sadness. There was also bitterness, as he placed her on the ground gently, running his digits through her lank hair, and when he released her, he pulled in a breath, as though trying to bite back tears. Bulma couldn't stand to watch him with so many emotions written across his face.
Then suddenly, an Idea hit her.
"Son-kun... if we find the dragon balls... we could... we could wish her back." she managed to smile.
Goku let out the breath he was holding in, and faced Bulma. "You... you really mean that??"
"I know how much she means to you, Son-kun... I don't ever want to see that look in your face... ever!" she snapped.
His face returned to his happy, usual self, and Bulma felt all the weight lift off her shoulders.
"Let's go get them!!!" He hopped on to the cloud, and pulled her on, ready to take off, when--
"Looking for something??"
They turned around, and behind a pile of corpses, was a guy, the same age as them, wearing blue spandex, and an armor over his chest... which was drenched in blood...
In his hand was the four star dragon ball, and the three star dragon ball.
They were face to face with one responsible for the massacre... for Chi-chi's death....
They were in deep trouble.
