Chapter Two : Within The Shadows
Pan stood impatiently for her grandson at the fighters gate. She still couldn't believe that Bobulla was really Trunks' grand daughter. It wasn't that she was jealous, she just didn't know that he continued the linage. Of course she thought it was normal because he was twenty-three the last time she saw him and he had no love interest. Then after that, she never heard of him or his family ever again for the next one hundred years...that was till today. Finally Gokou turned up and Pan took him by the shoulders and told him he fought well.
"I know Grandma, thanks." he replied.
"We better get going Gokou. We have a hearty meal waiting for us at home." Pan said. They both made their way to the exit and then saw to their left, Bobulla, Vegeta and Nion about to get into their capsule car. Gokou instantly called out to him.
"Vegeta!!"
The spiky haired boy heard his name and looked up. After looking around a little, he saw who called him. It made him feel like laughing, but he didn't. He smiled instead because Gokou was waving to him with a 100 watt smile. Vegeta knew it wasn't very funny, but it was ironic that this foe who fought him didn't despise him. It was then he realized that there was something different about this kid.
"Remember what I told you Gokou!" Vegeta called to him.
Gokou laughed cheerfully and Pan asked him what he meant by that.
All of a sudden, the road was filled with loud sirens, and everyone outside turned their attention to the road. A bunch of policemen were chasing a teenage boy up the busy street.
"Stop you thief!" a policeman yelled. The boy kept running, holding a loaf of bread, not bothering to turn back. The chase continued even after they were out of sight, and mostly everyone returned to what they were doing.
"What was that all about?" Pan asked.
"Grandma...was that a crook?" asked Gokou. Pan nodded. Bobulla was also contemplating over the incident and got out of her car to get a better look. She closed her eyes and shook her head.
"Teenagers...don't they have anything else to do these days?"
Nion stuck her head out of the car window with a blank look, and Vegeta who was about to get into the car, didn't.
"Policemen...cant they do the simplest of tasks?"
Bobulla turned to Vegeta after his statement and supported him.
"I know...all they do is stuff donuts down their throats."
"Well, if you want something done, you have to do it yourself."
Bobulla and Nion looked at him, surprised at what they just heard. Well, Nion really wasn't, but her mother was. She was quick to react.
"Oh no you don't! You are staying here Vegeta!"
The 8 year old boy smiled to himself before being yanked by the ear by his mother. She tightened her grip.
"Mum!" he cried, trying to pull away.
Nion laughed at her brother's misfortune.
Pan and Gokou were watching them and laughed. It was then Gokou decided to take matters into his own hands. Pan understood her grandson and his power, but she was a little worried about his dealings with his coward-nature, thinking that it might pose a danger to him.
"Are you sure Gokou?" she asked.
Gokou looked up brilliantly at Pan, a look that she has never seen before from him.
"I'm not that scared no more Grandma. I know I can do this" Pan smiled at her grandson's confidence.
"I knew you could be brave if you put your mind into it. Go and stop him."
Gokou nodded and was about to run off when Vegeta called out to him.
"Hold on Gokou, I'm coming with you!"
Pan and Gokou looked back in surprise as the boy broke free from his mother's grip and ran off. Gokou couldn't help but laughed and followed Vegeta, with his Grandmother calling for him to hurry home as soon as possible.
Bobulla yelled at Vegeta to come back but no avail. Nion continued to giggle happily at the occurrence.
"Well fine then," Bobulla said firmly, crossing her arms "if that is what he wants to do, I'm going home. I have work to get done. Come on Nion-chan." Bobulla got into her car and waved to Pan before departing the area. Pan smiled gently and decided that she should head home. Pan took off into the air and slowly disappeared into the horizon. She was so glad that her grandson was building up his bravery.

Vegeta kept running with Gokou close behind him when he saw a group of policemen arguing where the boy escaped too. Vegeta halted.
"He went left" one said.
"Yeah, it was left wasn't it?" the second one asked.
"No no, he went south from here" the third one said.
"He ran north!" another argued.
Vegeta stood watching the argument go on when Gokou finally caught up to him. He too turned his attention to the incompetent policemen. The arguing eventually stopped when they decided to take their own way.
"What great effort" Vegeta sighed, "He went right."
"How do you know that Vegeta?" Gokou asked. Vegeta smirked childishly.
"Come on Gokou...cant you feel his ki?"
Gokou concentrated a little before noticing the teenager's energy.
"You're right. He went right!"
The two boys raced right and sure enough there was the thief as they expected. He was looking for a place to escape safely too, so he could finally give the policemen the slip.
"There he is! After him!" Vegeta called.
The teenager turned around and was amazed that two little kids had tracked him down, when the police failed too. The teenager began running, and the two Saiya hybrids followed close behind. After a great long chase, the two boys were successful and cornered him in a dark alley.
"There's no where to escape too now." Vegeta said.
The teenager looked around for hoping for an escape, but to his dismay, none were present. He turned around to his confronters and kept the hood over his face present.
"Listen, I'm only stealing enough to keep myself alive. You have to let me go." Gokou and Vegeta were stunned.
"You broke the law, so is that a good enough reply from a crook like yourself? Find yourself a job and earn your money!" Vegeta yelled. Gokou however had never heard of someones' circumstance such as this one. He stepped forward.
"You have no home? No family?" The teenager turned to Gokou.
"Thats right." Gokou took another step.
"So youre homeless?"
"Yes"
"Thats terrible! No family and home? How do you survive day to day? You know what? You should come and eat at my home one day. Just ask for a person maked Gokou Jr!"
The teenager stepped back in surprise, wondering if this was trap.
"Are you joking?"
"No Im not" Gokou replied. Vegeta fumed up.
"Hey Gokou! We came here to catch the crook, not befriend him! Listen to yourself will you?!" Gokou ignored Vegeta and reached into his pocket and gave the teenager all the lunch money he had on him. The teenager took it slowly.
"Um...thank you. I owe you one. If you ever need my help..." He said quietly. Just then, sirens sounded everywhere and policemen began appearing close by.
"Oh no, they found me!" the teenager cried, "I have to get out of here!" Gokou looked around, tracing the sirens, while Vegeta ran up.
"Oh no you dont!" Vegeta threw a punch, but the teenager escaped the blow. Vegeta continued his assault, as the boy blocked all his attacks. When Vegeta finally had him cornered and charged for his final blow, the boy jumped up, powered up turning his aura yellow and flew off. Gokou and Vegeta watched in stunned amazement at what they just witnessed.
"Hey get back here!" called out Vegeta.
"His aura...it was yellow. It was like a Super Saiya-jin you know?" Gokou said. Vegeta calmed down and put his arms on his hips. It was true...like a Super Saiyajin. Then they heard words from not far away.
"He's in the alley...move in!" Gokou and Vegeta's eyes widen.
"Lets get out of here! We're too young to get caught by the police!" Vegeta said to Gokou, "Next time okay?" Gokou nodded. Vegeta powered up and flew off into the sky. Gokou also took off into the sky and begun his flight home. A few seconds later the policemen raced into the alley finding no one there.
"Were we hearing things?" they asked one another.
