Chapter Three : A Saiya Prince's Lineage
It was 2.00 at Capsule Corporation, and the day felt good. Vegeta was meditating in the large backyard, but for some reason he couldn't focus. In the end, he gave up and opened his eyes. His mind was still playing the entire incident in the city just a few hours ago.
Gokou was right though, but could it have been a Super Saiya-jin? The aura was yellow but did his hair turn gold too? Vegeta was asking himself. He never got to see it because it happened so fast. Then he was interrupted by his mother, Bobulla, and his sister, Nion. They stood on the steps watching him meditating, or at least trying too.
"I want to play mama" Nion said to her mother. Bobulla sighed and looked at her watch. She was due to complete her final phase on the next advanced Capsule by the end of the day. Bobulla turned to Vegeta.
"Vegeta! Come play with your sister. She's bored and I am busy."
These words always drilled a scar into his mind. If he got a dollar every time his mother told him to keep Nion busy, he'll be a billionaire. Vegeta crossed his arms.
"Again? I just completed my vacation homework and studying thirty minutes ago, come on!"
Bobulla took her daughter's hand and they both started walking to Vegeta.
"You know I'm in a busy period, and you are on holidays now."
Vegeta knew his mother was right, so he gave up and turned around to her. He nodded his okay and sighed again. Bobulla smiled.
"You're a good boy, don't let anyone tell you different."
"Don't say that so loud!" Vegeta exclaimed.
Bobulla looked at Nion and told her to be a good girl and don't bother her brother.
"Okay mama, I promise I won't." Nion said cutely.
Bobulla made her way slowly back to the mansion before turning around again.
"Oh I almost forgot!"
"What is it?" Vegeta asked.
"You're cousins are coming over later on today."
"G and Linni?"
"That's right."
"WHAT?" Vegeta yelled, "Linni okay, but G?!"
Vegeta wasn't happy. His older cousins were a bit of a bother, especially his high-classed cousin, G. They live both overseas with their parents at other Capsule Corporation branches. Linni was a descendant from Bura's family line. She was a gentle and kind girl, with a big heart. Yes, she is rather quiet, but hey, it didn't bother him. It was G who was the problem. Vegeta never got along with him. They always argued because their views of life were very different. G is from Trunks' family line, and he was a hard worker. Vegeta admired that in him, but he is rather up tight.
"Be nice to G Vegeta." Bobulla said. She knew they didn't get along also.
"You got to be kidding me mother! Why are they coming?"
"Vacation of course. They'll be staying here for a few weeks."
Nion jumped up and down. She was excited. Nion always played with Linni. Vegeta watched her reaction.
Linni's okay with me...she can look after Nion for all I care, he thought.
By the time Vegeta looked up again, his mother was already gone. He sighed and turned to his sister.
"Nion."
"Yeah Vegeta?"
"I'll play only one game with you, and when Linni arrives you play with her okay?"
Nion's face lit up and she giggled loudly.
"Sure!!!"
Vegeta was chasing Nion all around the yard. He wasn't running very fast, knowing that she probably couldn't escape him. Nion then suddenly came to a stop.
"Why aren't you trying to catch me?"
Vegeta laughed and told her that if he ran any faster, he'll get dirt into her mouth. Nion frowned and walked up to the laughing Vegeta. She kicked him in the shin, making him jump up and down.
"What was that for?"
"So you'll run faster to catch me!" Nion said, poking her tongue out at him. She began laughing and Vegeta wasted no time chasing her. When he finally managed to catch up, she phased out of the way and he fell face down onto the green lawn. Vegeta got up with a dirty face with Nion's laughter echoing through his ears. He couldn't help himself but laugh too.
"How did you do that Nion-chan?"
"I just ran out of the way" she said. Vegeta took a good long look at her. For some reason he couldn't trace her energy. She was moving pretty fast.
"You haven't been training have you?"
"No...only playing with my dolls and puppy."
Vegeta sighed. What was he suppose to suspect? As the generation goes on, the abilities of a Saiya hybrid become stronger. Oh well, of course Nion probably could do that without training.
"What are you up too Vegeta?"
Nion and Vegeta looked up to see a boy walk out holding a laptop. He was wearing reading glasses and his hair was stylishly slicked to both sides.
"G!" Nion cried as she ran up to give him a big huge. G knelt down and happily received, then turned to Vegeta.
"Well?"
Vegeta sighed, remembering his mother's words.
"How are you G?" he said lamely. His cousin knew him too well.
"Cut out that dumb attitude Vegeta."
Vegeta screwed his face up.
"What do you want?"
"That's a nice way of putting it little cousin."
The three looked to the doorway to see their other cousin approaching them.
"Linni!!!" Nion cried in excitement and ran over to her with another hug.
"Hi Nion-chan, have you been looking after your big brother?" she joked.
"Very funny" Vegeta replied. He turned to G and Linni. "So why are you guys here? Aren't your homes as exciting as ours?"
Linni chuckled and explained that she came here because her best friend lives in Satan City. She's here to visit her. G on the other hand said he was here to help his auntie so he could get hands on experience on being a Capsule Corporation president.
"What were you doing before we came Vegeta?" asked Linni.
"He was probably training...wasting his time again" G said sarcastically.
"No! He was playing with me!" Nion exclaimed.
"I was training before mother told me to care for Nion." Vegeta said, "How embarrassing for you G...even Linni can fight and fly, and manipulate ki attacks." Vegeta always rubbed that into G's face, because he doesn't know anything about fighting.
"Yeah, but so what? There have been no terror of the universe for many years, so why should I train? It's a waste of time. Like me Vegeta, you should be getting well acquainted with the family business. After all, you'll be taking over after your mother retires. But then again, Capsule Corporation probably go down the drain after that." G said.
"Hey, don't start you two!" Linni said quickly. She was also aware of their fights. They both calmed down and Vegeta turned to Nion.
"Well, now Linni is here, go play with her."
"Okay" Nion said as Linni looked up in stunned surprise.
"Hey, I was going to visit my friend. I called her up and I already told her. I also told your mother Vegeta."
"Great!" he said, "Okay then...fine."
Linni hugged him, and made him embarrassed.
"Little cousin, you are a crack up! Don't worry, after this I promise I'll look after her for you okay?"
"Yeah, thanks."
And with that, Linni took off into the sky. The three watched her fly off when Bobulla walked out. She followed their gaze.
"I hope she comes back in time for dinner tonight in the city."
The three turned around to see Bobulla now looking at them.
"Just here to tell you that I haven't finished yet. I'm going to take the rest of the day...something I wasn't anticipating. Vegeta, look after Nion. G, help him. Nion, be good. I don't want any disturbances when I'm in the lab. I won't be out until I'm done okay?"
The three nodded and with that Bobulla disappeared into the doorway.
Vegeta went back to his meditation and G sat at a bench. He turned on his laptop and put earphones on with the music up. Nion peered left and right. She walked up to G and pulled onto his vest.
"Not now Nion, I'm busy checking my e-mail. Go play with Vegeta."
Nion went to Vegeta and tugged on his arm.
"Why are you meditating?" she asked.
"To help me focus my powers better next time so I can beat that Gokou kid."
Nion walked off and looked at her cousin and brother. They were too busy to play with her. Nion sighed and picked up her teddy bear before sitting on the steps, sad. Then a butterfly came into her view. A beautiful yellow and orange butterfly. Nion stood up.
"How pretty!" she said. Nion began chasing the butterfly around when she ran past G who looked up to see Vegeta not looking after her. He got up, put his laptop and earphones down and paced over to Vegeta.
"Hey! Sorry to disturb you but why aren't you looking after Nion huh?"
"I told her to bother you. You mean she hasn't done that yet?" Vegeta joked.
"So responsible...it's a scary thought to know you'll be the Capsule Corporation president one day."
"And what is that suppose to mean? Mother told you specifically to help me look after her!"
"Really?"
"Yeah, she did."
The two argued and argued, not realizing Nion was still chasing the butterfly when she exited Capsule Corporation. It was about twenty minutes before Vegeta realized that Nion wasn't around. He put up his hand to stop G talking.
"Hey, where's Nion?"
G looked around.
"I don't know. Weren't you suppose to look after her?"
"You were suppose to help, so help me look for her. She has to be here somewhere!"
The two ran around the yard, unsuccessful at finding her, when they both saw the back gate open. Shocked, G called out her name only to be pinned down by Vegeta.
"Shut up or my mum will hear you!"
G pushed Vegeta aside and brushed the grass off his clothes.
"What are we going to do now? Nion's gone...what will aunt Bobulla say? She'll tell my parents and they'll probably disown me from carrying on the family business!" at that, his eyes began to swell up, until Vegeta punched him in his stomach.
"Quiet! That won't happen if we find her first before my mother comes out of her lab."
Vegeta flew up into the air and looked down at G.
"Oh that's right. You can't fly!" he said lamely.
G smirked and threw a capsule down onto the ground. A great puff of smoke appeared before a jet pack came into view. G put the pack onto his back and took off into the sky.
"Technology..." he smiled.
Vegeta sighed and flew off, with a screaming G following him close behind.
