Author's Note: This is a drabble, inspired by Treasure, a previous drabble that I wrote about Trunks and Vegeta. This is my second fanfiction ever so any comments or reviews (constructive or otherwise) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading!

Goten shared everything with Trunks. Trunks shared everything with him. There were no secrets between them, except the ones that they kept from their moms. That was just the way the world worked. So, when Goten finally visited Trunks' house for the first time, Goten did not expect the foundation of his world to shift beneath his feet.

 

There was Trunks' mom who was always very nice to him although sometimes, Goten caught her looking at him a bit sadly and Goten did not know why. There was Trunks who always grinned so happily at Goten that Goten always followed him into whatever mayhem Trunks had planned. Then, there was the stern man that appeared behind Trunks. The man had stared a very long time at Goten until Goten felt like he would turn to stone. The man looked away first before that could happen though and Goten was able to breathe. But Goten couldn't breathe again when Trunks turned to smile at the man and cry, “Papa!”

 

The man did not reply, only gently laid his hand on Trunks' head for a brief moment before leaving the room. Then, Trunks looked back at Goten like what had happened had been perfectly normal and had not changed Goten's world forever. Because, now there was one thing that Trunks did not share with Goten and that was a father.
