~~~~`` Chapter- Separated Self: Now and Then.
Surely there's a better place for me,
A place where I can spend eternity.
A place where there is no more pain and there is only sunshine reigning,
And there is no one walking on their knees. ----Salvia
“Young Prince, you’re father wishes to speak to you?”
“And I care, why?” Vegeta shot back as he continued to pound in an opponent that was one of his guards.
“It is urgent, Prince Vegeta.”
“Well, Radditz, tell my father that he can burn in hell for all I care. He is not my king, I need not obey him.”
“Vegeta.” Radditz persisted.
Knowing that his superior always meant business when calling him by his first name, Vegeta rolled his eyes before he dropped kicked his opponent watching with a proud smirk as the older Sayian smashed into the ground, unconscious. The young one dropped to his feet, grabbing his towel off the wall rack and picking up his armor. His tail flipped behind him, letting Radditz know he was not getting away with this that easily.
Radditz bowed his head when Vegeta past before following after him, “My prince, I wish you no pain. King Vegeta will be upset if you did not come.”
“Cut with the formalities bullshit, Radditz.” The six year old growled, his arms crossed across his barely balky chest.
“Vegeta, you know I hate that bastard as much as you but it is for your safety that I do this.”
“Whatever, Radditz.” The conversation was dropped. A few turns and more steps and Radditz pushed open the large doors to the throne room, only to growl immediately.
“Please, Vegeta, be careful. Watch what you say in this company.” He bowed deeply as Vegeta eyed him suspiciously at what he was talking about only to slit his own eyes as he continued down the blood red carpet that led directly to the dais where his father sat. His black, emotionless, young eyes darted around catching the smirking features of Frieza, Zarbon, and the pink blob that was Dadoria. That did not sit well with his nerves.
“My son, thank you for greeting us with your presence.” Vegeta rolled his eyes knowing the sarcasm that laced those words meant punishment. Everything meant punishment.
“What do you want?”
“Now, Young Prince.” Frieza cut in from his floating chair, “Is that any way to greet your superior?”
Vegeta snorted but with the glare he felt from his father, he did as instructed and bowed at the waist, “Lord Frieza.”
“Now that’s a good monkey.” Both Sayian Royalties growled at the green pretty boy named Zarbon.
“Now, now Zarbon, be nice.” Frieza chided with a chuckle. “After all this is a friendly meeting.” Vegeta let his devious eyes stay hooked with Frieza’s bright red orbs, having the sudden urge to run. “So King what shall be your answer.”
Vegeta eyes went upon his father who stood from his dais and came beside him, placing a protective hand upon his shoulder, “No. You cannot have my son.” Warriors suddenly flooded the room from secret entries and encircled the three powerful aliens, making a barrier of men between the nobles of the planet and the aggressors.
Frieza glared through the crowd, his tail slamming the floor beneath him, however his smirk on his black lips was the only sign of his highly amused sense of humor. “Really, Weak King. You expect to beat me?” the chuckle of the demon vibrated the air, chilling the spines of all the warriors. “Why must you make this harder then it is?”
“If you thought I would let you take my heir, you are out of your mind. Which I do question all ready.”
“Oh, that hurt. I am far from being insane, however this action of yours makes me wonder of your own mental state.”
The hand clenched on Vegeta’s shoulders who stared bewildered at all the events. “Leave here, Frieza. Leave us.”
A deadly, silent stare past between the two royals before Frieza mockingly bowed, “As you wish, My king. But be rest assured, I will receive my way.” He ordered to his followers who glared their own warning but quickly followed after.
King Vegeta sighed when the doors shut and he nodded to the warriors around him who all quickly exited the way they entered leaving the two nobles alone. He dropped his hand from his boy’s shoulder, running it through his hair, “I hope this is right.”
“Father, I do not understand.”
The king turned to the child, “Frieza wants you, Vegeta. To join his army. And I have just denied his request.”
“But…Why?”
“Why? You questioned me?”
“I want to go with him.”
The king turned his back, shaking his head violently vicisciously chuckling. “Stupid child. Nothing but a foolish child.”
“I am not a child!” Vegeta stood strong when his father turned to him, tail thrashing in warning of the man’s violent temper. “And I am not so stupid as to believe your lies.”
The king gazed at him squarely, dropping his head. “You speak of your mother. You will never understand the reason for my false words, boy. But only of that. Everything else I speak is true. Frieza is more powerful then even I. He wants you, Vegeta and yet you do not even see the reason for it. You know your destiny boy, do you not think there are creatures in the universe that do not want to control such power? He will take you, train you to be his obedient servant just as Zarbon and Dadoria.” The sway of the child’s tail stalled him. “OH? You think he can’t? You think he can’t bend you into whatever shape he desires? Just as I said, nothing but a stupid child. I need not your approval on this boy. You may fight me. You may hate me, but at least you will have your freewill and at least you will be able to look upon yourself in the future without such distaste.”
“My freewill? You take from me every breath you inhale.”
“You think that I am the monster?” A small pathetic smile broached his lips, “Honestly my son, I am a fucking god compared to that which wants you in his grasp. Vegeta.” He stalled bending upon his knee to get closer to the child, “Listen to me. Your mother--”
“You will not speak of her to me for every time she leaves your lips you defile her name.”
The King gave a low, tired sigh. “So cold and so young. I have not been a father worthy of you. One day you will understand why I do such. But for now I will be the monster as always and make you strong. And you will see when your power is above all else, then will you realize what I do is for you.”
“What you do is for yourself. A selfish bastard you have always been. Why mother did not kill you--” He was caught off by the fist that smashed across his cheek.
Vegeta laid out on the floor touching his bleeding lip and glaring at the man that stole his youth. “Do not say that again!” The king screamed violently. “I will not be disrespected by you, boy! I have just saved your life! You will never know how much I just kept you from! Hell is what you face! No choices! No pride! No honor!” King Vegeta took a deep breath, letting his anger fall watching his child refused to return his eyes upon him. The old man’s large hand rested extremely gently on his son, uncomfortable as the gesture was for both, he smoothed the soon bruised skin with his thumb. “One day, my son. One day, you will understand. And this hate in your little heart will ebb and you will see me as your mother saw me. Go now, do whatever you wish as always.” Vegeta now able to yank himself away stormed out, slamming the doors to the room.
Twenty years passed and now the twenty-six year old Sayian strutted down the halls of his castle confidently, paying no mind to the servants that passed vibrating in fear or fellow Sayians that were to cross his path. His tail whipped infuriatingly behind him, arms crossed stubbornly and the deep frown craved on his finely chiseled features that once were perfect now marred by years of battle scars. Being taken from a damn training session always fired him up, especially when he knew it wasn’t an important interruption but this was about his mate, no matter how much he wished her death, it was something he could not ignore. He slammed the doors to the quarters just as he always did to alert her of his presence and she stepped from her bedroom.
He barred his teeth upon seeing her, no matter her beauty this face he could never get used to. Forced mating; the cause of his hatred toward her and her of him. Vegeta wouldn’t remember how once they had mated back when they were brats, back when they were actual comrades. Why had their relationship changed? When he had returned from his trip with Frieza, he had changed. Forcing everything to change with it.
Now they held no remote feelings for each other, not even lust was present no matter how many times they had mated. It had all been for a brat anyway. No other reason they would touch each other. “What the fuck do you want now, bitch?”
She bowed respectively, “King Vegeta, there is something I need to report to you.”
“Out with it, whore, I have not all day.”
Vegeta watched her, hating her scent that nearly filled this room. Thank the gods of Vegeta-sei he had a separate room. There would have been no way in hell he would spend his nights in this godforsaken place. “I am with child, my lord.”
“About fucking time, now I will not have to go through hell to fuck you again. Could this not wait till later?”
“I thought you would like to know as soon as possible. As not to hear from anyone else but me, Lord.”
“Fine. Is that it?”
Her body tightened, her back stiffened, fists clenched, muscles twitched, taking the appearance of every Sayian female: Filled with Pride. “It is not yours.” Her ki rose and she took a quick step back however not fast enough to dodge the hand that entrapped her throat.
Vegeta slammed her to the wall, “Come again.”
She swallowed, her black eyes bravely finding his, her teeth ground together in her anger and disgust as she spat out her satisfaction, “It is not yours, my EX King.”
“Fucking Whore!” He slammed her brutally to the wall again before throwing her to the side, watching her tumble about over the floor. Vegeta followed through and landed his foot into her stomach, “I should have fucking known.”
She coughed brutally, curling to protect the child growing inside of her, “What do you expect of me?” She whimpered harshly, “You treat me so careless. And so brutally. I know there is no bond, Vegeta but that does not give you a right to do this to me. I have stayed true to you since we first became mates, you cannot say the same. You make it obvious and you flaunt it proud. Did you honestly expect me to turn my back? I am Sayian, Majesty. I am Sayian and will not be torn down by the likes of a no good King.”
“You speak with a backbone for once, slut. Get off the floor, no matter if that is where you belong. You will tell me the name of your lecher.”
“No, sir.”
Vegeta gripped her arm, back handing her across the cheek, “Tell me this instant, I command you.”
“You hold no power over me. No respect and no honor. Does it really matter who betrayed you?”
“Do not ask questions, bitch, I am your King! He deserves the same punishment as you for your disloyalty!”
“The reason I tell you the name is because I know it will cause you great pain. And I will bask in it when I see the betrayal written upon your face. Radditz, is my mate. Your most trusted commander. He means to assassinate you and take me for his queen. He hates you with a passion as do I.”
“You lie. Radditz would not do such a thing.”
“You think so? Then how stupid you are. Do you not taste his scent upon me now? I just came from him. And we mated several times and he was able to please me in ways you never could.”
Vegeta slapped her once again, allowing her to fall from his grip to the floor, “Stupid whore. I never aimed to please you.” Without a second thought he lifted his hand and aimed for her stomach, letting a ki blast penetrate through her, causing as much pain as possible before leaving, allowing her to suffer alone as a slut should before death greeted her.
Vegeta fled to the throne room, immediately calling upon Radditz who showed up only minutes later gazing at him in his friendly manner, “Yes my young King?” He bowed deeply.
Vegeta stared at this creature that had pretended to be the only decent being he had met in his young life, now able to see clear and find all the flaws this man held. He mentally barred his teeth, “My mate is with child.” He watched the emotions flow carelessly upon his face. Vegeta sensed the ki spike and knew that instant that it had been true. “But it is not mine.”
Radditz gazed at him in his false shock, but his tail told him all Vegeta needed to know. “Then who’s sir?”
“She wouldn‘t tell me. And now I guess I will never know.” Vegeta stood without emotion however with words that were carelessly deliberate, all the while keeping his cold calculating eyes on his once respected teacher.
“What do you mean, sire?” He whispered, sweat pouring down his face, the tip of tail sensing the danger, however Radditz himself was oblivious to it.
“You know the penalty, Radditz do you even have to ask? I killed the whore. She is more then likely still conscious and in brutal pain from the gapping hole where that bastard child of hers once was.” Vegeta hid his humor watching the tail fall to the floor lifeless. Radditz eyes gazing wide on the floor, his body shaking horrendously and sweat built at his temples. Vegeta came to take a stand before the older man, “Is there a problem, Radditz. You appear to have seen a spirit of some sort.”
The being swallowed hard, and his eyes nearly to the point of tears darted to his, “Nothing, sir. Just surprised is all. I know you two had your differences but I had not thought…” He couldn’t finish with his lie, at least that was how Vegeta saw it.
Vegeta chuckled having not the will to hold back any longer, “Oh, Radditz you coward. Have you no honor?”
His body tightened, “Sire?”
Vegeta circled the creature, his tail swaying humorously after him. “How would she look upon you now, with the obvious lies you feed me to keep your skin? I mean you were bonded to her, were you not?”
And it was there Radditz realized what was truly going on. His tail spiked up and he growled low in his chest, tightening muscles and clenching fists, “So you lied. Not surprising. You and your sick games. Torture your victims before you send them on their way to Hell. Well get it over with, Vegeta.”
“Oh, not that simple. See I have yet to torture you. And I will do it slow. And you may thank my father for teaching the methods.”
“You have not one right to speak of your father, whom you brutally murdered. You speak to me of dishonor, you should not even be king.”
“But I do have a right, Radditz. I had every right to kill him. He was in my way.”
“He was in your way to protect this universe. You wanted Universal Domination. Something you couldn’t have and shouldn‘t have. The King saved you from a monster. But it had been to late. You wanted to be a sick, unholy king for the only reason that you could. Now your people suffer under dictatorship.”
“My people are my worry.”
“Yet you care not! Frieza changed you, Vegeta. I will never understand why you joined his army ten years ago. You were a respected Prince then.”
Vegeta growled brutally “I was what my father made me!”
“You were what you were destined to become!”
“Why must I follow a path that has already been made for me? Why must I follow a plan that I cannot choose from? This is my life. I have the power. I control everything that goes on!”
“Except Frieza holds the upper hand as always! Vegeta, you had a chance to be a king worth remembering. You would have taken over him! You would now be the greatest king in all of this Universe! I saw it in you! The power, the will, the pride! You were the chosen one! You were to unite this universe to peace, not hand it over to Frieza to corrupt!” Radditz watched the mighty Sayian pace in front of him, tail flickering in distress, in his rage. He knew this was the end. So he continued, hoping by saying these last few words just might get through. “But then you ran off to Frieza. And came back five years later and destroy the court and the King. And since then your reign has fallen. Your people are fading. The wars you put them through has weakened their devotion. Your people search ways to assassinate you.” The sadness Radditz had felt of Vegeta’s own betrayal slowly converted to hate “You are strong but not unbeatable, Vegeta. So you may kill everyone who says something you like not. And you may destroy this glorious race that your ancestors have built, and you may destroy me, but one day, you will be surpassed and one day, you will fall to your knees and I will bask in that in Hell!” Vegeta watched in impressive awe when Radditz laid his hand on his own chest and let a ki blast eat his heart out. His body fell lifeless at his feet.
Vegeta shrugged, “At least you stopped talking.” the King quickly incarnated the body
``````````

“Prince, Wake up now.” The muffled voice sounded in his head, he groaned and shivered from the cold that had enveloped his body. Vegeta opened his eyes, finding the smug face of Radditz above him with crossed arms. “Have a nice nap?” He questioned humorously, reaching out a hand which Vegeta took to help him to his feet, the snow falling off him and melting quickly upon his heating form.

“That’s it?” He questioned still in his haze of the past.

“That is all my power can show you. But would you like to know the end?” It was hesitant, but Vegeta soon nodded, “You get a whore with child who died giving birth, you took that as your heir, he grew up to despise you much in the ways you had your own father, but he strived to be what you wanted no matter how much you tortured him to make him strong. He died, by your hand, because your rage took control. And shortly after you were defeated by a Sayian named Brolly, who was Kakarot‘s kin. He was the first Super Sayian for you never achieved what you craved. But you were not killed. No, you were left to rot in a cell for the remaining month of your life where you died of starvation. Not a very honorable life. But then again, this is only one of the many things that could have happened. If you would have not gone with Frieza, you would have been a perfect King and had a perfect life. But that is another decision and another path.”

“I became my father.”

“Worse then that, Vegeta. You became Frieza.” He watched his young Prince’s face, eyes bewildered for what they had just witnessed. “I let you know, not to cause pain, but to ease it. You have wondered your entire life how it would have been, and now you know. This is the better life, Vegeta.
“I’m not saying that this path was not an easy one to follow. The torment is some times needed in order to learn. Look now to what you have. Any of us would have done all that you have ten times over, just to experience such a life as yours
“But your question lies in one answer. Your father gave you to Frieza because he wanted you to live. He wanted you to have a life, Vegeta, no matter how bad it were to become it would get better. He knew you would make it better. The King saw the greatness in you. He knew only that you needed to live. Because you are the chosen one.
He gave you to him in hopes that Frieza would be appeased and you would live your life through, obtain Super Sayian status and free your people. But you weren't given time. It was not fair, Vegeta, you are right. You were not given a chance to live the life of King. The gods surely screwed you over. But they are begging for forgiveness now. They ruined you. They destroyed a ruler who would have been perfect because of fear. They saw the anger in your heart and they panicked. They saw the choices. Saw that if you were to go to Frieza, you would have become the man you had just seen in your dreams. But had you gone the other way, you would have been a brilliant King, yet held in chains by Frieza. Either way you would have lost. So they cut in when you were young and made this bargain with the Devil, hoping that on becoming a monster, you would destroy yourself and Frieza before any damage was done.
“Now they see though that no matter the oppression and violence Frieza forced upon you, they realize they had made a mistake in stealing your life away. They were surprised by your loyalty to bring the Sayian Empire to full stance, to fight against the creature that ruled the universe. They saw, that you might have been the Savior you were made to be. And this is their reconciliation. Your brats and mate are their gifts. But that deal they made with Satan, Vegeta, to change your life, is what causes you so much suffering now. Break the chains of his bargain, and you will know happiness. And you will not be ashamed of your past any longer.”

“How do I do that?”

“Accept it. Accept them. Accept this life. Accept that there is nothing you can do now what was done so long ago.”

“You make it sound so easy.”

“You make it sound so hard. That mate of yours. Vegeta, come on. How could you not want to break your chains for her?” Radditz smirked, chuckling softly and slowly taking a few steps back. “I have to go. I’ve abused the powers for too long.”

“I will never see you again?”

“No, my young King. My soul will evaporate and all I will be is a memory. Not even those fancy dragon balls of yours could revive me.” Radditz slowly knelled upon the snowy ground, his fist crossing over his chest to hold upon his heart, “We are all proud of our Prince. Even if you did not accomplished all that you desired, you surpassed all our expectations. Your mother awaits you now. Awaits to meet your kin. But not for a long time, My Prince. Not for a very long time.” The Sayian slowly faded before Vegeta’s eyes and at the last instant those black eyes rose to meet his and the Prince nodded in his thanks, Radditz nodding in response, then there was nothing but the cold air.
