Black Flowers ; chapter 21, 'Black Wings'

Tristian looked up at her with wide eyes. "...What?" He choked out. "Babe... with me?"

Bra still looked flustered. "I want to lose it... and I know you've had other women..." She murmured.

Tristian's eyes drank in her body, her filling out curves and angel-like face. He groaned, feeling more aroused. He reached his hands out to grasp her arms. He seemed to hesitate before he spoke. "No babe... not me." He said seriously. "I'm sorry Bra."

Bra looked at him, wide eyed. He... he was rejecting her? Bra unsuccessfully choked back her sob. She felt so hideous... and so undesirable! She suddenly felt like a silly little girl in the slinky burgundy dress she had thought would win him over so easily. Tristian seemed to sleep around so much, yet she was not pleasing enough for him!

"Babe.. It shouldn't be me." Tristian said softly and painlessly as he could. "I won't sleep with you." His eyes once again ran down her body with want in his eyes. He looked into her baby blue eyes. "Not that I don't want to..." he confessed, leaning to murmur softly in her ear. His hands caressed her sides. "Believe me, babe. I want to pin you down right now, and fuck you senseless, really I do..." His voice was low and incredibly seductive, his words like purring.

Bra closed her eyes, moaning softly. Tristian drew back with effort, and cupped Bra's face in his hands, gazing at her with his dark eyes.

"But you need someone special. Someone who will fall madly in love with you and worship you like a princess." He continued. "And if we fucked right now, it would be a one time thing. Or however many times you would come back for more. It wouldn't be special... and you don't deserve it like that. You deserve it to be special."

Bra felt the tears stream down her face. His words were so unexpected and genuine, but she still felt a deep rejection and humiliation. It seemed as though she was always being cotton-woolled. Like she couldn't be wild and seductive. And not even Tristian wanted her! But she felt deep gratitude for what he had said. Maybe... maybe she could find someone special? She smiled bravely. "Thanks Trissy-chan." She sighed. "I guess I'll... Should I go now?"

They both paused as Bra began to climb off him, but she stopped. Tristian leaned forward on instinct, and kissed her softly on the lips. He paused, not being able to resist gently pushing his tongue to meet hers. She responded with innocence and surprise. He trailed his hand discreetly downwards, caressing over the top of the fabric of her dress. Even over the fabric, his skilled hand worked as they kissed more passionately. He felt her moan in the kiss, and within a few minutes, she was gasping, her body shuddering all over. Tristian slowed the kiss to a stop as he waited for her to ride out the orgasm. He pulled away, and she was looking at him with her flushed face, her blue eyes wide and searching. He kissed her once more softly on the lips, before drawing away grinning.

"Something to be going on with..." He smirked. "Was that your first?"

Bra was still gawping like a goldfish, her lips opening and shutting slightly. She briefly closed her eyes, savoring the fading feeling. Tristian looked down with amusement. He slid his hand under her dress and Bra gasped in shock. Tristian drew his hand away again. "No panties, huh?" He mused with amusement. Bra blushed when she realised the bottom of her dress was a little damp. Tristian grinned with a sigh. "You're going to make someone very happy, you know that? Now get out of here before I change my mind about you!" He laughed.

Bra climbed off him, and smiled nervously again. It was then her eyes trailed downwards. She gasped without meaning too. Tristian saw where she was looking. The front of his pants looked very tight...

"Did...did I do that?" Bra asked with embarrassment and wonder.

Tristian groaned. "Sure babe. You're pretty hot, you know that?"

"Will you be ok?" Bra asked.

Tristian nodded. "Sure, I'll just sort it out when you're gone."

Bra hesitated. She shyly moved her hand to brush over the material covering him. Tristian moaned. He looked at her with surprise and she gently began undoing his trousers. He moved his hand to stop her.

"Babe... what are you doing?" He protested.

Bra smirked. "Returning the favour..." She said innocently.

When the two emerged, they found themselves faced with an angry Saiyan. Gohan was solemn, his arms folded. He sighed as he looked at them both. "Dare I ask what you were doing in there?" he asked them seriously. He glared disapprovingly at Tristian in particular, and with a dispairing sigh at Bra.

Tristian laughed. He patted Gohan on the shoulder. "We didn't sleep together." He confessed.

Gohan paused, looking at him, then at Bra who shook her head.

"He's telling the truth, I swear."

"But... but..."

Tristian began to move away. "Ok, nothing more to see here!" he grinned. "You heard the lady." He leant into Bra's ear. "When I say when..run for it!... NOW!"

The two teenagers suddenly made a break for it at Tristian's yell. They both skidded don the hallways and down the stairs, leaving an already confused saiyan even more confused.

"Cadell.. you've had that exact expression on your face for more than a week now."

Cadell raised his eyes to the speaker. Eira moved her head to the side. She slid down onto the seat next to him. She moved a long curl behind her ear. "Why won't you cheer up?" She paused, before sticking her tongue out at him. "You're no fun like this!"

Cadell found it in him to smile at his baby sister. "We can't all be as cheery as you all the time." he said softly, brushing the stubborn curl back behind her ear again.

"It wouldn't hurt you to smile a little more." Eira advised. "You used to smile more in the old days."

Rayne looked up, not sure if it was wise for Eira to have said that. Cadell had been unpredictable for a time now. As much as she would like to know what was bothering him so much, she wouldn't push him. She was startled as his gaze suddenly caught hers. He looked away just as sharply, not forgetting he was in disgrace still. "What can I say? I enjoyed my work..." He said.

Rayne still watched him. As angry as she was at him, she felt concern and yearned to comfort what was troubling him. It was true, she still felt bitterness for the way he had spoken to and treated her. He knew Raven was a sensitive subject for her. And the fact he didn't approve was an irritation for her. Cadell never saw the Raven she had seen. Why couldn't he see that? She knew the dangers all too well. Cadell had been the one to remind her each time. Why didn't he realise... that she couldn't let go?

Cadell suddenly rose quickly from his seat, striding towards the door. He was blocked by Vegeta, who stepped in front of the doorway. Having watched the youth's troubled disposition, saw an opening to perhaps size up this alleged grandson of his.

Cadell looked for a moment surprised. Then angry. Both men seemed to stand their ground. "Out of my way." Cadell growled.

Vegeta looked with interest at him. "Always running away..." He mused.

Cadell's ki seemed to flicker. "What the hell are you implying, old man?" he hissed. In his heightened state, it was difficult for the headstrong young Saiyan to keep his anger under control.

"It seems to be a less desirable trait of yours... it makes me question your supposed strength." Vegeta taunted.

Cadell didn't respond. He stepped backwards, standing in the middle of the room. Without a word, he began raising his ki. Objects in the room began to shake, and cups and glasses spilled over the tables and floor. The designer chandellier above their heads began to tremble too. Vegeta smirked, and began to power up himself. Bulma came running into the room, shielding her head from the rubble she was half expecting to soon hit her from the ceiling.

"What in blazes is going on?" She screamed. Both men stabillized their powers reluctantly, still glaring at each other. "Save it for the ring." She snapped. "You'll be pleased to hear this. I've entered you guys all in a tournament tommorrow."

Cadell and Vegeta slowly seemed to smirk at the same time. "I'm game." Cadell said, as he pushed past the Prince.

Rayne quickly rose and slipped quietly from the room.

Rayne stepped out of the doorway, her bare feet touching the short stubbled grass beneath her. Her eyes flickered around her. She had followed so easily, yet she had lost the trail so quickly? She turned her hea dquickly, only to see the long wild grass blowing over the top of a wooden fence. She walked slowly forward, seeming in marvel with the swaying carpet of pale green moving in the gentle wind. beyond, she could see the mountain scape that seemed to enclose them here. How had he eluded her again?

"...You're growing complacent." A deep voice interrupted her. She whirled to see who she expected. Cadell didn't meet her eyes. They were still lost, somehow. "You're losing your focous."

Rayne steadied her eyes on him for a moment, then seemed to relax and let them wander back over the fields. "Maybe I'm finding more things in this world are capturing my attention..."

Cadell shot his gaze to her searchingly for explanation, but found none. His brows began to relax a little, as wonder overcame irritation. "I don't understand."

Rayne had stepped closer to the old fence, leaning forward to rest on it. "I used to believe the world was dead." She said, such a startling statement heavy as the grey clouds that were cast down over them. Her face didn't harden, but seemed to struggle with expression. "I used to believe it Cadell. I used to believe in what they did to us. I believed we had no other purpose, that any existence in this world meant nothing. Destroy, be destroyed... it was the same. The same struggle, all the same... To me, the world was hollow, worthless. maybe that's what made destroying it so much easier. Those people we destroyed, their faces... Kami... I remember the faces." Rayne paused, trying to continue. "They weren't human anymore Cadell. They weren't afraid. They were fear. It had consumed them, there was nothinhg left. I saw nothing in their eyes. I saw fear, weakness. I felt so much contempt for them. But that's what I also felt for myself. Those empty, worthless eyes. The same ones I look back into every day in the mirror. We were nothing. Life was nothing. Don't you see?"

Cadell did not stir from his listening. The words seemed to flow from her desperatley.

"I was obsessed with my eyes, how they were empty. I was obsessed with their eyes. I became so frustrated, destructive. I believed my heart had finally turned black. Mentally, I became the killer they made me to be. Over the years... I began to wake up. Slowly... I felt like I was waking from a coma. I wanted to cry and cover my eyes from the blinding light. I hate how it made me see. I hate how it opened my eyes truly for the first time. I began to. As I looked again into the same eyes, I saw human weakness, I saw suffering. But I also saw endurance, defiance... I saw strength Cadell! I saw how strong they were. The way the depth of human suffering and weakness brought unimaginable strength. We destroyed their homes, we took their lives... but we couldn't destroy what they were. I grew afraid of them. A warrior, able to wipe them out with one swipe, now felt fear."

Rayne suddenly clutched the wooden fence with her hands. "I saw the same weakness in my eyes Cadell! I saw them in my own eyes! I saw the suffering, I saw the life. I also saw the suffering. I couldn't stand it! I saw the pain in my own eyes that I had inflicted on so many thousands of others. I saw what they had done to me, I saw the pain of human suffering in my own eyes... I was alive! Dende damn it... I was alive!" before Rayne knew it, Cadell had caught her softly by the wrists. He froze as her eyes met his. He growled softly deep in his throat, as he saw what she saw. The corners of her blue eyes were moist and unshed.

"We all are now." Cadell told her comfortingly.

"Any life is worth fighting for. I know that now." She responded softly. "Maybe even us..."

Cadell's expression became stern again. But thoughtful. Moments passed between them, before he spoke again. "I'm sorry for how I treated you."

Rayne gazed at him, before a smile tugged at her lips. A wave of relief overwhelmed her at his simple, but meaningful words. Before he knew it, she flew at him, wrapping her arms around him. She buried her head against his chest, and he rested his face on her hair affectionately. "I missed you.." She murmured. Cadell found it in himself to let a smile tug at the corners of his own lips. Maybe it was the grey clouds that seemed to be majestically rolling back across the weak blue of the dawn sky. As he let her go, she moved to return inside. He let his eyes take in the beauty stretched over the horizon. This was the world... huh? He tried hard to see what Rayne had so easily seen. But she hadn't always... maybe he would begin to see too? He took a glance back at Rayne's retreating form as his mind played over her final words to him. Maybe even us...

He stepped forward slightly. There was a soft critical tone in his voice as he spoke. "You know, we don't exactly fly on the purest of white wings..."

Rayne turned her head to gaze at him a last time. The smile tugged wider at her lips. "You can still fly on black wings, honey..."
