Chapter 1 - The Legend IS True!!!

"Wow… that's so cool! Tell it again!"

Dende, the old yet wise Namek chuckled slightly upon the request. He was once again telling stories of the legendary Vegita - the great warrior who destroyed all evil and terror, bringing peace and justice to the planets of the universe.

They were all gathered at Capsule Corp and, though they didn't live there, they were there so often they practically had their own rooms. They were all good friends of Bulma's, and all loved to hear stories from the elder Namek. The current listeners of the stories were Krillen, Yamcha, Piccolo, ChiChi, and especially Goku. Goku admired the great warrior, and wanted to be just like him! That's why he constantly trained day and night - to defend the people and be a hero - his greatest dream.

Bulma herself always said the stories were for babies and that they should all grow up, but once the old Namek began his tales, she couldn't help but listen behind a wall. In truth, she dreamed of Vegita as her gallant Prince who would come and rescue her from the dangers of the world. He would carry her off into the sunset like a Queen….

"Man, wouldn't it be cool if Vegita WAS real?" Krillen asked after Dende told the last story once more for his small audience.

Goku, the one who had asked for the story to be repeated in the first place, blinked. "W-what? But… I thought he WAS real…"

"Oh, he is at that children," the wise Namek replied with a solemn nod. "I know it. Legend has it he's still alive today, encased in the very ice Frieza trapped him in!"

"Yeah? Awesome!" Goku cried. "Hey guys, how's about we find him! Wouldn't that be cool? We could finally meet him and-"

Goku was suddenly interrupted as Bulma fell from her hiding place from behind the wall. All eyes turned towards her, and she blushed as she got to her feet. Composing herself she said in a very mature fashion, "Goku, even if the legend WAS real, he was incased in ice in SPACE. Now tell me - how can we find a guy like that in the whole entire universe? It's just not possible OR logical!"

All of Bulma's friends blinked, not even questioning how she knew where he was frozen since she never listened to the stories anyway, and told them they were all babies for doing so.

"Well… that's not entirely accurate," Dende replied, taking his pipe to puff from it and pausing as all eyes fell on him. "I've heard rumors that a large block of ice with a frozen man was found flying through the air, and hit the ground some miles from here - probably buried deep in the Earth at the speed it was going. It could be…"

All of Bulma's friends gasped. "But Dende-san… if that's true, why didn't YOU ever go find out?" Yamcha spoke, trying somewhat to disprove his statement.

Dende shrugged. "I guess I was always too overwhelmed… I felt as though awakening such a grand warrior was out of my league, and that I could never have the courage to do it."

Goku stood up, determined. "Well I have courage enough! Please Dende-san, where exactly did he land? I want to find him and bring him back. He's my hero!"

The others stood up, nodding in agreement.

"Yea!" cried ChiChi. "Maybe he's really, really cute!"

Bulma eyed ChiChi.

Dende smiled. "All right young ones, I will tell you the location - but heed this warning, things are not always what they seem."

"Sure," Krillen said, giving a thumbs up.

* * * * *

Bulma sped past the land with such speed the others had trouble catching up. Though she was in her jet while the others flew with ki, she was still one notch ahead of them.

"Hey Bulma, wait up! Don't leave uuuuuuus!" Goku's wails did nothing for Bulma, as she only forced the jet to speed up even faster. Her mind was racing and her heart pumping - to her, it was as though her dreams were slowly becoming a reality. She could almost feel Vegita's body, taste his lips, experience his-

"BULMA, LOOK OUT!"

"Huh?" Bulma's thought suddenly left as she woke to reality… and saw that she was heading strait for a large mountain. Screaming, she steered the jet up at an alarming rate. It's bottom crashed the tip of the mountain, sending her flying over, the jet crashing to the ground.

Bulma cringed as she looked at the wreckage, then back at her savior. "T-thank you, Yamcha."

"Any time babe."

Bulma punched him in the face. "Don't call me baaaAAAAAAA!!!!" she was interrupted as Yamcha let her go, holding his soar face. She crashed on top of the mountain… and fell right through it.

Yamcha, upon seeing this, gulped. "Oh man… I'm in trouble. She's going to kill me…"

"YAMCHA!!!!!!!"

Yamcha turned to the others, who had by then caught up. "Uh hey guys, I think I'll be at home where it's safe… um… if you find Vegita or anything tell me, ok?"

"But Yamcha," Goku protested.

"YAMCHA GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE, I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!" Bulma's threats rang from below.

"Sorry, got to go!" And with those words, the scarred-face warrior flew off and out of sight.

"Hey Bulma, you all right down there?" ChiChi inquired, peering down the hole. Though ChiChi couldn't fly, she wanted Goku to carry her. She always did love the wind against her face, and something felt just so right about being in his masculine arms.

"Wow, you mean someone finally noticed that baka DROPPED ME IN HERE!!!" Bulma's screeching made even ChiChi cringe. "How NICE of you all to FINALLY PAY ATTENTION TO THAT! AND WHERE'S YAMCHA???"

"He flew off," Krillen replied, also peering down the hole with Goku, Piccolo off to the side, standing with his arms crossed over his chest.

"That jerk!" Bulma hissed. "He'd BETTER run!"

"Hey Bulma, want me to lift you out of there?" Goku volunteered.

"… No. Actually it's weird but… I think this is some kind of cave. I need a light though!"

Just as Bulma finished her last syllable, Goku was down there and powered up, his energy lighting up the area. Soon to follow were the others.

"Nothing like a carry-with-you light, eh Goku?" Krillen jidded, elbowing him in the ribs in a playful manner.

Goku smiled. "Yea…" Slowly the five walked through the cave, amazed at how deep and enormous it was, as well as the fact that it was hidden so well.

"Hey guys, look! You… won't believe what I've found!" Bulma called from ahead.

The others immediately raced up to where Bulma was calling. When they got there, they couldn't believe their eyes. Incased in ice was the warrior of Dende's descriptions, his sword incased by his side.

"Oh man… I don't believe it!" Krillen huffed. "The Legend IS True!"

Goku smiled. "I know."

To be continued…
