Woah...another update. Well it's going with the tradition of dragonball z to stand around and talk a lot before doing anything.
I wish i could say the frequency of these updates will continue likethis but i am going back to school as of Monday so it will have to slow down, which makes me sad. Like i said before, how come i didn't do this at the beginning of the summer? God only knows...
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Chapter 5
Hope was thick in the air as they all looked at Piccolo. They were counting on him to save them.
"Old man, you created the dragonballs right? How long will it take you to create another set?"
"I can not create another set."
"Why?"
"I created the dragonballs to satisfy a calling in my soul. I used a sacred model of a dragon that was made out of the soil of earth. Even if I had the potential to create another set, the balls must be connected to a planet." Everyone's eyes turned to Piccolo.
"What? That was the idea." He said to them. Krillin looked dejected and Gohan looked scared. But he understood. The intelligence he possessed was shining through his tear filled eyes. "I never said it was a good idea." Piccolo mumbled, turning his back on the group. Bulma thought for a minute. She had to come up with something or they would all die floating in the alien ship, listening to the small debris from earth bounce harmlessly off the ship. She would not die like that. Suddenly, she sprang to her feet, her eyes shining.
"I've got it!" she shouted. Her outburst startled everyone out of his or her thoughts. "Piccolo, you and Kami are Nameks right? And Kami you said you came here a long time ago from another planet. So if we go to your home planet, there must be other dragonballs there that we can use to wish the earth back!"
"But there might not be." Krillin pointed out.
"So? At least it's better than floating here until we die isn't it?"
"Yeah but-"
"No, the woman may be right." Vegeta said. "I have heard about the magical balls of Namek, but it's always been thought of as a myth. It makes sense now...I come to earth seeking the dragonballs and I find Nameks. It's not a myth after all." He looked at Bulma, smirking. He chuckled. "I'm surprised I didn't think of it myself, considering how amazingly intelligent I am. I'm also surprised your pathetic human intellect could come up with this idea."
"Did you just call me stupid?" she asked as her jaw dropped. She was shocked and insulted at the gall of this little man.
"Why yes, yes I did." His eyes glinted as he met hers; he almost looked like he was beginning to enjoy himself.
"Why you arrogant son of a bit-"
"Bulma!" Piccolo said sharply. "Don't, he's not worth the effort. But since we're on the subject, what are we going to do about him? Maybe we should just pick up where we left off."
"If we did that Namek, you would have to back to being beaten and unconscious on the ground. And I have no problem giving you a hand with that." Vegeta said as he uncrossed his arms and rolled his shoulders back.
"You're going to have to fight me too, we still have a score to settle." Krillin growled, dropping into a fighting stance.
"And me! You killed my daddy and for that you'll have to pay!" Gohan cried as he lined up beside Piccolo.
"Goku! I totally forgot! With everything that happened I totally forgot about Goku." Krillin, Piccolo and Gohan turned their faces to her, each completely bewildered. "Right after Frieza came when you guys were...uh...not having the best of days, Dr. Gero saw Goku unconscious on the ground. Well he got really angry, I guess he still hates Goku for defeating Red Ribbon all those years ago. He told Frieza how he hates Goku and Frieza had this green haired guy put some sort of collar on him and put him on the ship."
"Goku's alive? And you didn't tell us 'til now?" Krillin yelled, baffled.
"Well I'm sorry Krillin, but there was a lot going on and I was a bit disoriented because our planet just blew up!" she yelled back.
"We have to go get him! If my daddy is alive then we have to go get him!"
"Gohan's right. Goku would do it for any of us."
"How? We don't even know where to find this Frieza guy, and if is that dangerous we won't live long enough to help Goku." Bulma said. Gohan glared at her with tears in his eyes. She knelt so she was eye level with the small child. "Honey, I'm sorry. I love your dad and I want him back as much as anyone. But I need to come up with a plan before we can go get him that won't get us all killed."
"I'll die trying to save my father." Vegeta had to clench his jaw to keep it from falling open. The kid had courage. Maybe he was more Saiyan than Vegeta had originally thought.
"We'll get him back." Bulma said. She stood again and looked around. "Ok, well we should probably get Goku first and then go to Namek, because if we wish the planet back first Frieza can always come back and destroy it again, which would be a complete waste of a wish."
"Right. Defeat Frieza, free Goku, and wish back earth. No problem. Sounds easy enough." Krillin muttered.
"You are all much bigger fools than I though if you think you can defeat Frieza at your current power levels. You won't be able to make it past his elites."
"How do you know?" Krillin hissed.
"Because I was one of Frieza's elites. And if he hadn't shown up I would have killed all of you. And I still will." Bulma ignored his threats.
"That's why he was looking for you. But he didn't know you were on Earth. You went AWOL on him, didn't you?" she asked.
"I take orders from no one, my own interests called me to this corner of the galaxy. Frieza had a different agenda when he came to your pathetic planet."
"Dr. Gero."
"Yes. Tell me, you mentioned that the human is still angry with Kakarot for defeating Red Ribbon. What do you mean by that?"
"Goku you mean?"
"Kakarot is his Saiyan name." Bulma looked at Vegeta for a second before deciding to just let it go and give him his answer.
"Dr. Gero had this army called the Red Ribbon Army that he planned to use to take over the world when Goku was little. He defeated Gero's army and Gero hasn't been seen since. It's really a shame because before he became obsessed with ruling the world, he was a brilliant scientist. He's still a genius, but he's also completely insane. He still publishes papers from time to time under a pseudonym in some of the scientific journals. Everyone knows its him because some of the ideas are way out there."
"Woman! Why didn't you tell me this before?" Vegeta yelled. "Frieza, the most powerful, sadistic bastard in the universe has enlisted the services of a scientist bent on world, and most likely, universal domination?" Everyone stared at him. "You idiots don't get it do you? With Frieza's sick mind and Gero's knowledge, Frieza would be unstoppable!"
"So what do we do now?" Krillin asked.
"We fight Frieza. We stop Dr. Gero. If what Vegeta says is true, then the entire universe would be in jeopardy. We can't allow that to happen." Piccolo said.
"It's what my dad would do." Gohan whispered.
"We're going to need supplies and we're going to need to train. We need to find a place to do that" said Piccolo.
"I know of one." Kami said. "Mr. Popo's home planet is not far from here. I have to go there to inform Popo's sister of his passing anyway. They are a good people, they will help us."
"Good. And what about you?" Piccolo was staring at Vegeta. Neither one broke eye contact as Vegeta spoke.
"I am the only one who will destroy Frieza. I couldn't care less about saving Kakarot or the universe. But killing Frieza and gathering the dragonballs is my destiny so I propose this. We go to Namek and gather the dragonballs. I know that you think wishing the planet back before destroying Frieza is futile, and it may be. But it is said that the Namek dragonaballs grant three wishes. You may wish for whatever foolish thing you want as long as I get the last wish. I will become immortal and then defeat Frieza."
"Yeah right! You'll just kill us once you get your wish." Krillin said.
"Don't push me cue ball, I have tolerated your ridiculous human behavior for far too long and my patience is wearing thin."
"Ok, maybe the plan needs so fine tuning so let's just do this for now. Kami, set a course for Mr. Popo's planet. You four cool off and try not to kill each other on the way there and I will go through my capsules because I think I may have some of the science journals that published Dr. Gero's work. Maybe I can find out how Frieza found him and what he might be up to. We'll go from there." Bulma was fed up with the bickering and the indecision in the group. At this point she didn't care what they did, just as long as they did something. Bulma walked away from the group, wanting to explore the ship and just get away from them for awhile. Out of the corner of her eye she could see Kami punching in the commands that would take them to Mr. Popo's planet. As she walk away, she could feel Vegeta's ever-present glare boring holes into her back
