Chapter 11- Sibling Rivalry

A/N: A little bit of OOC Vegeta, but it's my story and I can do that so HAH! Enjoy.

Vegeta growled as he destroyed another bot in the Gravity Room. "How does that onna do that to me?!" He blasted another one to the next dimension. He stopped, breathing hard and stared at the wall. He suddenly sensed something. "Athena and Kakarot are fighting. He'll annihilate her!" He ran out of the GR and looked around, trying to locate the source of the ki signatures.

Trunks walked out of the house. He had obviously felt the ki as well. "Dad, I know that's Goku, but who does the other one belong to?" The look on his father's face said it all. "Why would Athena be stupid enough to take on Goku?"

Vegeta turned to glare at his son. "Brat, you don't understand. She could hold her own if she knew what she was up against…she never feels things out before she jumps in with both feet." He stopped and smirked as he found his quarry. "Come with me if you must." Vegeta took off quickly, leaving Trunks standing, watching him. He knew he had no place there, so he walked back inside.

Vegeta landed about fifty feet away from the dueling Saiyans. Athena was holding her own better than he thought she would. As he watched, he noticed that the male Saiyan wasn't holding back. "Kakarot, what are you doing?" Neither of them turned to look at the intruder, but continued fighting.

Goku staggered on his feet a bit and looked at his opponent. Maybe he was being too hard on her. His sister, Athena, the one he had felt so close to was trying hard to stay standing and almost lost the battle. Her body was covered in blood. Sighing softly, he knew she was like him and Vegeta. She wouldn't stop until she was dead or in this case, too tired to go on.

Athena stared at her brother. While he was bloody, almost as much as she was, he didn't seem as drained as she was. Her muscles screamed out in protest every time she took a breath. She wasn't used to this, it was not normal for her. "You're stronger than I thought Kakarot. Don't pat yourself on the back too hard…if I was the same age as you, I could beat you…" She coughed and wiped a way a bit of blood. "You may have beaten our brother Raditz at this age, but I am everything he wasn't."

Vegeta smiled at her cockiness. `That onna is destined to be mine. I'll have that talk with her tonight.' His eyes darkened as he noticed that Goku was powering up a ki blast inconspicuously in his hand. `What is that moron doing?' It dawned on him, but interest kept him from using his voice to stop him.

"You're right Athena, you are better than Raditz was. You're a challenge and you will be great when you reach my age." He powered up a ki blast as he spoke, intent on ending this. "If I were to tell you that I'm afraid that you're too tired to go on and I wish to quit, would you?" She shook her head to the negative. `This had better work. Maybe a scare will make her quit.' He smiled slightly. "I didn't think so. Athena, I'm sorry to have to do this. KA-ME-HA-ME-HAAA!" Her eyes widened as she saw the ki blast fly towards her. She did the only thing she could. She tried to use instant transmission to get away from it.

He pressed her fingers to her forehead and started to fade. Before she could disappear completely, Goku's kamehameha hit her square in the stomach. Her voice resounded in the two males' ears as she screamed in pain. Athena was thrown back into a cliff face and through it. Her voice went silent as she hit the ground on the other side. Vegeta's eyes expanded in shock as he saw her limp body. "KAKAROT, YOU IDIOT!!! YOU'VE KILLED HER!!!!!" All he wanted to do was kill the moron, but he dashed swiftly to her side.

Goku stood in complete shock. `Athena must've been exhausted. She should've been able to block that.' He looked on numbly as she flew through the cliff. He looked at Vegeta as he shrieked at him. "Vegeta…I didn't mean to. I…I thought she could block it…or get out of the way." He walked slowly to his sister, watching as Vegeta kneeled beside her helplessly. He reached her in time to see a single tear flow down his friend's cheek. "She's not…dead, is she?"

The Prince kneeled down beside his flame haired vixen. He gently ran his fingers through her scarlet locks. "You can't leave me onna, you have yet begun to annoy me." His hand hesitantly went to her throat. Two gentle fingers pressed against her soft flesh to feel for a pulse. It was there; he breathed a sigh of relief. "Athena, you and I are going to have a serious talk after this is all over." A single tear of joy slipped down his cheek as the imbecile walked closer to them. He glared at him as an answer to his question. "No thanks to you. You could've killed her!"

Goku looked down, defeated. Neither of them had noticed that emerald eyes were watching them both. As Goku started to open his mouth to reply to the older Saiyan, a small, weak female voice hit both of their ears. "Goku…it wasn't your fault…" They both looked down at her. A smile formed on her lips, a small one, but a smile nonetheless. Goku dropped to his knees and hugs her tightly causing her to yelp in pain. "Okay, okay…let go now."

Vegeta looked at Goku as he pulled away from his onna. `I'll kill that bumbling idiot for hurting my onna.' It was then he noticed the large amount of blood on his shirt. "Kakarot, is your stomach bleeding?" He shook his head. Vegeta swallowed hard, trying to gain the courage to look. He lifted what was left of Athena's shirt and studied her stomach. There, where the ki blast had made contact, was a large gash. It oozed blood and looked deep. "Kakarot, we need to get this stopped. Go find Yajirobe and get a sensu bean." Without another look at his rival, Vegeta tore off his shirt and pressed it to her smooth abdomen. "I'm taking her home, meet me there." He picked Athena up bridal style and flew towards Capsule Corp as Goku used instant transmission to go find Yajirobe.

As he landed, Vegeta called out to Trunks. "Brat, get out here!" Trunks came running and stopped in his tracks as he saw Athena. He opened his mouth to question her pale color and bloody clothes when Vegeta stopped him. "Goku's an idiot. Now move so I can get her to her room." The lavender haired man moved out of his way before Vegeta traveled quickly through the door and up the stairs.

He laid Athena gently on her bed. Vegeta walked into the bathroom and wet a washcloth with cold water then came and sat down beside her. He stroked her scarlet hair softly until she opened her eyes. She opened her mouth to speak but he softly pressed a finger to her lips and made a hushing noise in the back of his throat. "No, you let me talk. I know this is a bad time, but I'd like to talk to you about something before Kakarot gets back. I'm not sure what you saw in your dreams last night, but that necklace you wear has great importance. My father gave it to your mother, just as you said, to give to you. That signifies you as my mate." He chuckled at her shocked expression and softly caressed her cheek with his finger tips. "If we were on Vegeta-Sei, I could by right take you without your consent…but I don't think that's necessary. Last night, I dreamt of your memories, as you did of mine. That proved to me that you are my mate and that your soul accepts me. The real question is: do you accept me to be yours until the day we die?"

As she opened her mouth to answer him, Goku appeared behind him, next to the bed. "Hey guys, Yajirobe said that he's out of sensu beans at the moment. That leaves me with one of two choices: either I let Athena try to heal on her own or I take her to Dende. If she heals on her own, she could die, so I'm taking her to the lookout." He slowly walked over to his sister and picked her up gently. Vegeta growled slightly at the intrusion, but made no move to stop him. He knew Goku was right; Athena needed to see Dende right away.

Vegeta reached for her hand and kissed it gently before standing up and giving Goku a dangerous glare. "If I find just one hair out of place on her body, you will answer to me." With that, he walked out. `Cursed Kakarot, he always has the worst timing.'

Goku smiled down at his sister who had fallen asleep in his arms. Whispering softly to her, he said, "Don't worry Athena, I'll never hurt you again." He closed his eyes and disappeared from her room silently.
