Disclaimer: - This is a story from the time Vegeta was born, right through till the end of the Mijan Buu saga, even though we might miss a saga or two, don’t know which ones yet. None of the characters in this story are my own, and one of the main characters is one I made up. Since I do not know the name of the saiyan queen, I will make a name up, as I will for my made up characters mother, who I also made up. So there is no reason to sue, because I don’t own the characters of DBZ or the sagas and 2 of them are what I made up. So read and enjoy.

How it all began.

~~~~On planet Vegetasei~~~~~

The saiyan king walked through the palace. Today, his queen had just given birth to his heir, a prince. At times, you might think he was not happy, but his queen knew better, she knew he was thrilled. The king was also glad his mate was so strong, or else she might have died having his son. King Vegeta walked to his and his mate’s bedroom. Even though she was strong, having the prince had completely exhausted her and she was sleeping peacefully in the bed. He walked over to the cot, which held his son. He had not made a sound since his mother had first held him, except for the usual crying a baby makes after they have been born, (Obviously). He smiled a rare smile at his son. No one must ever know about how overjoyed he had been when his mate had birthed his son, without any hitches to make the situation better. "He will be a great king someday." His mate said.

He turned towards his mate, still having a look of exhaustion on her face. "Yes Taina, with the proper training, he will be." Said King Vegeta.

"You don’t have to be so serious now, it’s only you, our son and me. You only smiled when you first saw him, you can hold him now, no one will see you showing us affection.".

"I guess you right Taina.".

He went to pick up his son, when a beeping from his telecom came from his belt. A scared warrior was on the screen. "Yes Bardock, what is it?" Said King Vegeta, rather agitated.

"Forgive for interrupting sire, but Frieza got word of you son’s birth and has come to see you concerning his future with him." Said Bardock.

"MY SON HAD NO FUTURE WITH THAT MONSTER!" Screamed Queen Taina.

"Calm down Taina, tell Frieza I’ll be there in few minutes." Said King Vegeta.

"Right away sir." Said Bardock.

His image faded and the King turned to his mate. "Taina, I know you don’t trust Frieza, but this will ensure our son’s survival.".

"Or we could be signing his death warrant, Vegeta, how could even think of turning our son over to that creature?".

"I know you don’t like it, but it will good for him. Now I better go see what the lizard wants.".

He got up and made his way to the door. He turned back and said, "I will make sure he will be safe Taina, I promise.".

And with that, he left. The infant prince began to stir and squirm. Taina smiled and went to her son. She picked him up and got ready to feed him. "Don’t worry little one, I won’t let that monster harm you." She spoke gently as he sucked at her.

"That is my promise to you.".

~~~~In the palace throne room~~~~~

King Vegeta entered his throne room, to find the bane of his existence sitting on his throne. Frieza smiled at him, his tail swung excitedly from the side of the throne. His right hand man, Zarbon was sitting on the stairs while Dodoria made himself comfortable on his mate’s throne. King Vegeta felt he had some sort of understanding with Zarbon, since his wife was expecting a child of her own. A female, Zarbon had told him. Personally, King Vegeta knew that Zarbon and his wife were only non-saiyans that shared the same hatred for Frieza as he and the saiyans did. "Ahh Vegeta, congratulations on having a prince. I’m very happy for you." Frieza said.

Vegeta bowed to the creature. "Thank you Lord Frieza. The queen has been very happy since he has been born." Said Vegeta.

"I understand that she does not like the idea of your son joining me one day. We will have to persuade her otherwise." Said Frieza.

"We, what we?".

"Yes sire, I will have words with her." Said King Vegeta.

"Good, good. If there is no other business Vegeta, I would like to see your son, see if he worth all the fuss the Queen is making." Said Frieza.

"Frieza, that may not be for the best. The Queen is very agitated right now, and it may be best for the Queen and Prince to be left alone for now.".

Frieza just smiled. "Very well, but I expect to be able to see him when we come next time. Dodoria, lets go, Zarbon, find your wife and brat and tell them to come." Frieza ordered as he strode off.

Dodoria stalked by as Zarbon hung back. After Frieza and Dodoria had left, Zarbon’s mate emerged for the shadows, a small bundle tucked in her arms. "I wanted to get you in private before I told you Vegeta." Said Zarbon.

"When was she born?" Asked Vegeta.

"Yesterday. Dianna, show the king our baby girl.".

Dianna brought the baby closer as the king made his way towards her. She unwrapped the baby from its blanket. "Her name is Tanya." Said Dianna.

"Zarbon, she is a beautiful baby." Complimented Vegeta.

"Thank you Vegeta." Said Zarbon.

"ZARBON!" Shouted Dodoria.

"We’re coming!" Shouted Zarbon.

With that, the king said goodbye to Dianna and Zarbon as they ran after Dodoria. Vegeta remembered Zarbon had told him about taking a human for a mate. A hostage from a human space ship Frieza had found and attacked for the materials on it. Dianna was just an added bonus for Zarbon. They had gotten married and a few years later, they had a half human- half-changeling baby. King Vegeta didn’t know the reasons for the human name, but if ‘Tanya’ proved herself worthy, maybe King Vegeta would except her and have the prince take her as his mate. Anyway, it was a bit early to think like that. Vegeta made his way back to his royal chambers. Once he entered, he found his mate asleep once again in their bed and the infant Prince sleeping peacefully. He just climbed in the bed beside his mate and she curled up beside him. "Vegeta." She whispered.

"What." Asked the king, thinking she was talking to him.

"No, that’s his name, Prince Vegeta.".

"Perfect.".

With that, they both fell asleep.

The next morning, Frieza came to the palace again. This time, he came when the Queen and Prince were in the throne room. "King Vegeta, Queen Taina, Lord Frieza is here to see you." Said Bardock.

Frieza just pushed by the saiyan. "King Vegeta, I’m so glad to catch you and the whole family together. Now I can see the young prince." Said Frieza.

"Actually Lord Frieza, I was just about to take him to the gardens." Said Taina.

"Nonsense my dear queen, surely you could let me see the baby for just for a minute.".

The queen looked towards the king for help. Then, Dianna spoke up. "Lord Frieza, the queen asked me to go to the gardens for a private discussion about our children. We will bring the prince to you when we’re finished, but could we have a few moments alone, sire." Asked Dianna.

Frieza looked a little annoyed, but agreed and Dianna and Taina ran off with the two infants. "If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that Queen Taina is trying to stop you from seeing the little monkey Prince." Said Dodoria.

"Dodoria, show some respect. The young prince isn’t ready to see Lord Frieza yet." Shouted Zarbon.

"No, I think I agree with Dodoria, Zarbon. What do you say King Vegeta?" Asked Frieza.

The King just looked to the ground. "The Queen is just a little too protective of him, that’s all." The King said.
"Ahh, well then, we will have to make her see reason".

"Sir, you can’t force the queen into liking the idea of you taking him away someday." Protested Zarbon.

As they argued, Queen Taina and Dianna took the two babies to the royal gardens. Queen Taina and Dianna went to the seats by the pond in the middle of the royal gardens. "That was close your highness, Frieza was ready for blasting you." Said Dianna.

"I know and thank you Dianna, for getting me out of that mess." Said Queen Taina.

"Anytime, I don’t want Frieza to see my baby either. But the fact that I live on his planet gives me no choice. It’s either let him see the baby or…".

"He’ll kill the entire family, I know.".

The young prince squirmed in his mother’s arms. She hadn’t realised she was holding him so tightly. The prince’s face came into view. "He’s a handsome little guy. He looks just like the king." Said Dianna.

"Everything about him is just like the king, even the flame black hair. The only difference is the king’s hair has gotten brown with age." Said Queen Taina.

"I know what you mean. Tanya looks just like me, she even has my dark brown hair. But she has her fathers beautiful golden brown eyes." Said Dianna.

She un-wrapped her daughter from the blanket to reveal her face. The baby girl did indeed look like Dianna. Dianna was very beautiful herself; she had long dark brown hair that went down to the small of her back. She had tanned skin and blue eyes. She was indeed very beautiful and so was her baby girl. "What’s her name?" Asked Taina.

"Tanya. I named her after my sister. When my ship was attacked, Frieza killed her for not been obedient and he had wanted Zarbon to kill me, but he couldn’t do it. He took me as his concubine instead." Started Dianna.

"Smart plan. But, how did you two come together?".

"Well, Zarbon and me became pretty good friends after that. Frieza gave me a job as his ship mechanic, which brought Zarbon and me closer together, and things took their natural course.".

"Hence, the baby in your arms.".

Dianna smiled. "Hey, the babies haven't even been introduced yet. Tanya, this is Prince, uh, prince?" Started Dianna.

"Vegeta, Prince Vegeta, and Vegeta, this is Tanya." Said Taina.

Dianna brought Tanya closer to the Prince. The Prince stared for a minute, then held out his hand. Tanya then gave a baby giggle and took the prince’s finger. "Well, seems they hit it off, didn’t they?" Said Taina.

"Yes, they look really happy." Said Dianna.

The two babies were still holding each other’s hands and they both had little baby smiles on their faces.

"Dodoria, your way outta line saying that about the queen. It’s no wonder she doesn’t want the prince around you." Shouted Zarbon.

"That’s enough Zarbon, I don’t know when you became such good friends with King Vegeta but it’s starting to annoy me. Vegeta, you will order the queen to let me see the baby Prince or I will have Dodoria make her let me see him and it won’t be pleasant for her." Said Frieza.

"Alright Frieza, I will go tell Taina that you have to see the baby now." Said King Vegeta.

"Or else what?".

It was Queen Taina and Dianna. "Taina, let Frieza see the boy, now!" Shouted the King.

"No Vegeta!" Shouted Queen Taina.

"NOW!".

The king had never raised his voice to her, and she was rather hurt, but she knew that she better just let Frieza have a look at the prince, just to shut him up. Frieza came up to her and she kneeled down so Frieza could see the prince’s face. "Ah yes, he looks just like his father. May I hold him?" Said Frieza.

Taina looked at the king and his look sealed everything. She set the baby down in Frieza’s arms. It surprised her how carefully Frieza was holding the prince. "Yes, a handsome young man he will become. Here you are Taina, are you happy now?" Asked Frieza.

She didn’t say anything, she just took the baby back to her royal chambers. "Well, we best be leaving now. Dodoria, Zarbon, Dianna, come on. And Dianna, if that brat of yours starts crying on the way back, she will be destroyed." Said Frieza.

Dianna looked worriedly at Zarbon. "Don’t worry lord Frieza, Tanya and Dianna will be staying in their quarters for the duration of the trip home." Said Zarbon.

The 5 of them turned down towards the door and made their way out. "Dodoria, on our next visit, you need to take care of the saiyan queen. She must not get in the way of my plans for the prince." Said Frieza.

"Yes sir, in a few weeks, I’ll deal with the saiyan queen." Said Dodoria.

Unfortunately, Dianna and Zarbon were out of hearing range, so the queen can’t be warned.

Queen Taina had finished feeding the prince and was putting him is his crib. King Vegeta came into the room, looking very angry. "You were out of line today Taina, why don’t you just let him hold the baby from the start?" He asked angrily.

"Because I don’t want my son to have to go to that monster, you know what will happen, so why allow it?" Asked Taina, very angry as well.

"You don’t know it will be the same way as it was with you. If he goes, he won’t have to face Frieza alone.".

"I guess your right, the two of them hit it off today.".

"Who hit it off?".

"Vegeta, and Zarbon’s daughter, Tanya.".

"See, if they continue been such good friends, Vegeta won’t have to face Frieza on his own. He will have her.".

"But it doesn’t mean I have to like the idea of my son, going to work under his rule. Frieza raped me countless times before you and I met, and rumour around the base at the time was that Frieza went both ways. Our son will be very handsome when he’s older, what’s to stop Frieza from…".

"Don’t worry, I’ll train him and he will strong enough to fend off Frieza. He won’t go through what you did, I promise.".

Taina smiled as the king showed his affection by wrapping his arms around her waist. He didn’t do this often so she enjoyed it as her tail wrapped around his and her arms came to rest against his.

~~~ 3 weeks later~~~

Vegeta and Tanya were getting bigger each time they met. Taina and Dianna were very pleased about the bond of friendship forming between they two babies and King Vegeta was just happy with the progress his son was making, he was already trying to walk. A few days later, Frieza paid his monthly visit to the planet Vegetasei. "King Vegeta, there has been a planet I’ve had my eye on, the planet Arlion. I want you to go with Zarbon and conquer it in my name. Take the two brats with you, give them some experience in the field." Said Frieza.

"Do you think that is a good idea. Isn’t it a little early for them to go on a killing mission?" Asked Vegeta.

"Yes, maybe you’re right. We wouldn’t want to upset the queen, now would we.".

"What’s that supposed to mean?".

But Frieza just stalked on. "Sire, what do you want of me?" Asked Bardock.

"Prepare the royal ship, gather the soldiers. We’re going to planet Arlion." Said the king.

"The king fell for it, now don’t forget. Don’t leave any evidence, Dodoria. We can’t lose any chance of the king agreeing to letting the prince into the fold." Said Frieza.

"Don’t worry lord Frieza, after tonight, the queen will no longer be in the way." Said Dodoria.

Dodoria made his way to the queen’s royal chambers. He opened the door just as the queen was leaving. "Dodoria, you have no right coming in here un-announced. I order you to leave now!" Shouted Queen Taina.

"Where is the monkey prince Taina?" Asked Dodoria.

"He’s with Dianna and her baby, and it’s QUEEN Taina to you!".

"Not for much longer. After I’m done with you, you’ll be known as the LATE queen Taina. Oh, how I’m gonna enjoy this.".
Dodoria laughed manically as he began to attack Taina.

~~~Somewhere in space, later that day~~~

"Your highness, who do you need me to call?" Asked Bardock.

"I need to talk to Zarbon, something isn’t right about this mission." Said King Vegeta.

Bardock opened the communication links and Zarbon’s voice could be heard. "King Vegeta, Frieza’s led you on a wild goose chase, he has already destroyed the planet Arlion." Shouted Zarbon.

"But why would he…" Started Bardock.

"VEGETA, YOU NEED TO GET BACK HERE NOW. FRIEZA SENT DODORIA AFTER TAINA!" Screamed Zarbon.

"Change course, get us back home, fast!" Shouted King Vegeta.

The ship turned around and sped back to Planet Vegetasei as fast as possible.

Once near the planet, the king wouldn’t wait for the ship to land. He blasted through the wall of the ship with Bardock close behind. He ran inside the palace and saw Zarbon with Tanya in his arms and Dianna with the young Prince in her arms. King Vegeta didn’t stop to find the reasons behind that, he just ran to his and his mates royal chambers. When he opened the door, everything had been turned over. The dresser mirror had been smashed, the four poster bed had been destroyed and under the remains of his sons crib, lay the battered and broken body of his mate. "Taina." He gasped.

He gently picked her head up and searched for a pulse. He didn’t find one. Her long black hair was stained with her blood, her tanned skin had turned a pale white. King Vegeta didn’t know what to say, but he knew in his heart, he had been too late to save the woman he loved from Frieza.

Next time: - It’s been 5 years since the death of the saiyan queen and King Vegeta has come up with a plan, Prince Vegeta and Tanya have become the best of friends. And Frieza decides that he has his own plan, to rule the saiyan empire.
