Disclaimer: - Once again, I only made up two of the character, Tanya and Dianna and I only made up a name for the saiyan queen, Taina. Other than that, I don’t own any of the characters from DBZ, including the saiyan queen, and I only made up Tanya and Dianna. Now, on with the show.

How it all Began-part 2

~~~5 years later~~~

King Vegeta walked through his palace once again. Today was his son’s birthday and every year, around that time; King Vegeta would walk through those halls to his bedchambers. He would remember how beautiful his mate looked when she woke up from her sleep after having his son. Her brown eyes shimmering under the dim light of the bedroom. Then, a few weeks later, Dodoria murdered the saiyan queen, Taina. She had been buried under her favourite tree in the royal gardens, where the queen would sit with the prince during the first few weeks of his life. King Vegeta would never forgive himself for what he did next. He agreed to an alliance with Frieza. At that moment, he would have given anything for Frieza to kill him. He wanted to stop the pain in his heart.

~~~In the royal gardens~~~

A little girl ran into the royal gardens. She was running to the boy that was standing under the tree, next to the saiyan queen’s gravestone. "Hey!" Shouted the girl.

The boy turned around. He was the spitting image of the king, except that his flame like hair was black. The girl stopped in front of him. She had long dark brown hair tied into a plait, freckles going across her nose and she wore a miniature version of Zarbon’s armour. Other than that, she was the spitting image of her mother, Dianna. She was very pretty for a girl of 5, but what excelled her beauty the most, were her golden brown eyes. "Hello Tanya, what brings you here?" Asked Prince Vegeta.

"I came to see you and wish you a happy birthday. Look what I made for you." Said Tanya.

She held out her hand and a two-part necklace was revealed. Vegeta studied it for a few moments. "What’s that strange symbol?" Asked the prince.

"It’s an earth symbol, Mother said it’s called ‘Yin and Yang’. It means opposites; she helped me make this for you. I keep one half and you keep one half. She also said it’s earth’s way of showing friendship." Said Tanya.

Vegeta picked up the black half. "Where does it go?" Asked Vegeta.

"Around your neck silly. Like this.".

Tanya put on the white half and fastened it around her neck. Then, she helped Vegeta put his on. "Thank you Tanya, my friend." Said Vegeta.

"You’re welcome. Oh, and thank you for the golden bracelet you got for me." Said Tanya.

Tanya’s birthday had been yesterday and Vegeta had asked his father to have a golden bracelet made for his best friend. "But, father won’t like me wearing this inside the palace." Said Vegeta.

"Don’t worry, just put it on the inside of your shirt, that way your dad won’t know you have it." Said Tanya.

Vegeta put the necklace on the inside of his royal armour. He then stared at his mother’s grave. "I miss her Tanya." Said Vegeta.

"Don’t worry, she’s watching over you. She knows about the necklaces and I bet she’s really happy that we’re best friends." Said Tanya.

Tanya took hold of the Prince’s hand. "Is that monster Frieza here yet?" Said Vegeta.

"Yes, he is talking to your father. Something about the planet Tazbar." Said Tanya.

"Let’s go in, maybe father has something good to tell me for a change.".

"Why does it feel so strange, for your father to have good news?".

Vegeta and Tanya laughed and linked arms with each other.

~~~Inside the palace~~~

Frieza stalked out of the throne room. "Please sire, we can’t hand over the prince to him. I’d rather die than do that!" Shouted Zeorn.

"Me too, but for now, we’ll do as he says." Said King Vegeta.

"Please sire.".

"I don’t have a choice Zeorn. If we act to hastily, they’ll be nothing left worth defending.".

"Yes my king.".

"Don’t worry, we’ll have our day.".

With that, the king turned back down the halls. "It’s coming to that time again, isn’t it?" Asked Zeorn

"Yes, it’s around the prince’s birthday that the king acts like this." Said Bardock.

Then, Prince Vegeta and Tanya walked in. "Bardock, where is my father?" Asked the Prince.

"He went down those halls your highness." Said Bardock.

Prince Vegeta and Tanya walked down the halls where Bardock had pointed. Meanwhile, King Vegeta was talking with Zarbon and Dianna. "In 3 days, I will turn Vegeta over to Frieza." He said sorrowfully.

"What! You can’t!" Shouted Dianna.

"I’m afraid I have no choice for now. But when the time is right, I will fight Frieza and free Vegeta and my people from his evil rule!".

"What do you ask of us Vegeta?" Asked Zarbon.

"Keep an eye on him. Make sure he’s well taken care of.".

"But, you said it yourself; Vegeta wouldn't be totally alone. He has Tanya and us." Said Dianna.

"Don’t worry Vegeta, your son will be kept safe." Said Zarbon.

"Safe from what?" Asked a little voice.

It was Tanya and she had her arm linked to Vegeta. "Nothing my dear. It’s just that Prince Vegeta will be coming to stay with us for awhile." Said Dianna.

"ALRIGHT!" Shouted Tanya.

"OK, finally, some time away!" Shouted Vegeta.

"Hey we better go get your stuff ready!".

"Hold on you two, he doesn’t leave the planet for 3 days yet. Calm down." Said Zarbon.

"Hey, maybe you can show your dad your…humph.".

Vegeta clasped his hand over Tanya’s mouth before she blurted out about his necklace. "Show me what?" Asked the King.

"Uh, nothing father. In fact, I was going to take Tanya to the training grounds and show her some new techniques." Said the Prince.

"No you weren’t." Said Tanya, all confused.

"COME ON!" Shouted Vegeta, as he grabbed Tanya by the shoulders and flew off.

"What do you think that was about?" Asked King Vegeta.

"We don’t know." Said Dianna, even though she knew what it was about.

~~~Meanwhile~~~

Vegeta drug Tanya all the way through the halls. He stopped when he saw Frieza and Dodoria. "It’s gone swimmingly so far Dodoria, King Vegeta has agreed to let the Prince into our army." Said Frieza.

"Yes, the King doesn’t even know what’s going to happen." Said Dodoria.

"But I do. He and his best men will storm my ship and the rest of the monkeys will protect the planet. The king will lose and we will have the Prince for keeps.".

Tanya and Vegeta were shocked. But they kept quiet until Frieza and Dodoria left. "Frieza wants you to stay with us at home?" Asked Tanya.

"I don’t know. But, I think father knows something that he doesn’t want me to know." Said Vegeta.

"But, what would Frieza want with you. I mean you’re strong but…".

"I better confront my father.".

Vegeta went to his father’s rooms.

~~~In the King’s training chamber~~~

"FATHER!" Shouted a very angry saiyan prince.

"What brat!" The king shouted back.

"I overheard Frieza saying you were turning me over to him permanently. Is that true?".

King Vegeta hesitated. "So it is true. Well, thank you very much father. I really wanted to be turned over to the man that had my mother killed." Vegeta said with as much sarcasm as he could muster.

For that, he got a punch in the stomach. "YOU WILL SHOW PROPER RESPECT FOR HIM BOY!" Shouted King Vegeta.

"That way, you’ll survive under his rule if I lose.".

And with that thought in mind, he began the toughest training session he had ever given his son.

~~~3 days later~~~

Frieza’s ship landed and Tanya ran out. Both Vegeta’s were standing there. "Hey Vegeta. Hello you majesty." Said Tanya, bowing to both Vegeta’s.

"You’re learning child. Go on Vegeta." Said King Vegeta.

The Prince just scowled at him and went ahead of Tanya into the ship. Tanya looked at him, noting the bruises on his face and the slight limp, and then looked at the king. "It was all true, wasn’t it?" Asked Tanya.

"Child, tell Vegeta it was for his own good." Said King Vegeta.

"Turning him over to Frieza, that’s not his own good, it’s for your own safety!".

"That’s not true Tanya!".

"Yeah right, I’ll tell you if he survives long enough under that monsters rule, that is, if you even care.".

With that, Tanya turned away and ran on to the ship. "Don’t worry brats, I’ll free you both from Frieza’s rule." The king thought, and he prepared his fleet to storm Frieza’s ship.

"Father, you will pay for this!" Vegeta thought angrily.

"Vegeta!".

Tanya ran up to him, a solider by her side. "This soldier will take you to your room. I’d take you myself, but father wants me in the control room. I’ll see you later, Kay." Said Tanya.

"OK, I’ll see you later.".

The soldier escorted Vegeta to his cell and Tanya ran to the main room. Tanya arrived at the control room. "Lord Frieza, King Vegeta is here with a squadron of his men and has requested an audience with you." Said Zarbon.

Tanya entered as her father asked if Frieza had heard him. "Lord Frieza?".

"Zarbon, the last time I had my hearing checked, it was just fine." Said Frieza.

"Right.".

"Open the doors." Said Frieza.

King Vegeta and his saiyan fleet were running through Frieza’s ship. "Some of you go that way!" Shouted the King.
The saiyan general took a team of saiyans in another direction as the king led a larger team through to Frieza’s main room. Frieza’s soldiers, who were easily destroyed, met them.

Frieza’s wine spilled onto his knee. "Why those nasty monkeys." Shouted Frieza.

Tanya cowered behind her father’s leg. "Zarbon, open my doors. Vegeta wanted an audience with me and that’s what he’s going to get!".

"Right." Said Zarbon.

"This is no way for guests on my ship to behave!".

"But father, he’ll hurt them." Tanya argued.

"Tanya, the saiyans want this, we can’t stop them from coming here." Said Zarbon, putting his hand on his daughter’s head.

"You better have her cover her eyes Zarbon, this will be gruesome." Said Dodoria.

"Shut up pink boy." Whispered Zarbon.

Zarbon opened the doors and Tanya held on to his leg as Zarbon covered her with his cape. King Vegeta ran into the room. "It’s over Frieza, we’ve come to put an end to your rain of terror!" Shouted King Vegeta.

"We, what we Vegeta. Your army is so petrified that they’re blue in face." Frieza retorted.

He wasn’t kidding, when King Vegeta had a look, his army had indeed gone blue in the face. Tanya took a quick look and had to suppress the urge to burst into hysterical laughter. "I can’t do that, I’m on the saiyan’s side. He he, they look weird." Thought Tanya, as Zarbon covered her with his cape again.

"ARGH, FOOLS!" Shouted King Vegeta.

He jumped up and tried to punch Frieza in the face, but he dodged it. He tried again, but Frieza countered with an uppercut. The King fell backwards, not moving. "THE KING, NO!!" Shouted one of the soldiers.

Tanya had watch and her face was covered in fear and shock. Her brown eyes wide and her hands tightening on her father’s leg warmer. "Long live the King." Frieza said, as he smashed the King’s medallion.

The soldiers swarmed around the King’s body. "Oh, don’t look so glum boys. Wherever your king is, you're about to join him!".

Frieza removed his scouter and prepared a blast. "GUYS, GET OUT OF HERE!" Shouted Tanya.

But Frieza blasted them before any of them could move. Zarbon quickly covered Tanya’s mouth before Frieza could look in her direction. "Tanya, you’re just too attached to the saiyans. I say we burn the whole barrel of monkey’s, what do you say Zarbon?" Asked Frieza.

"Is it necessary now that King Vegeta is out of the way?" Asked Zarbon.

"Yes, because when one revolts, the others are sure to follow. You know, monkey see-monkey do.".

Frieza looked out of the window. "Just look at all those lost sheep, waiting for the good news from their King.".

Tanya could hear this anymore, she ran out of the control rooms and ran to the centre of the ship, where Frieza had locked Vegeta away.

Vegeta was becoming restless, he saw a rat on the wall and blasted it without a second thought. Tanya opened the door to his room and burst in. "Tanya, what’s wrong?" Asked Vegeta as he ran to her side.

Tanya slumped on to the floor, trying really hard not to cry in front of Vegeta. "Your Dad…tried to *hic* kill Frieza… Frieza killed him and the fleet and he’s gonna…he’s gonna… HE’S GONNA DESTROY THE PLANET VEGETASEI!" She finally screamed out.

Vegeta was speechless. "But we’ve been loyal to Frieza for years. Why would he do that?" Asked Vegeta.

"I don’t know." Said Tanya, a small tear falling down her face.

Then, they felt a tremor run through out the ship. Frieza had destroyed planet Vegetasei. Vegeta just went to the bench and sat down. Tanya sat by him, still in shock after seeing Frieza kill the saiyans in his control room, without a second thought. "What will happen to me now?" Vegeta finally broke the deafening silence.

"You’ll come home with me and Frieza will…".

Before Tanya could finish, two huge figures walked through the door. "Prince Vegeta, are you alright.".

Vegeta knew that voice in an instant. It was his teacher, Nappa. The wild haired man next to him was Bardock’s eldest brat, Radditz. "Nappa, Radditz, how did you get off Vegetasei in time?" Asked Vegeta.

"We came with your father, he said he needed us to protect you." Said Radditz.

"There is no need for that now, he’s perfectly safe." Said a malice voice.

Frieza stood in the doorway. "I’m afraid that before I could help, a huge metiore crashed into your planet. And King Vegeta went back to the planet and was caught in the metiore storm that followed. You 3 are the last of the saiyans.".

Nappa and Radditz were shocked but for Vegeta, it was just a confirmation of what Tanya had told him. He knew Frieza was lying and he knew that one-day, he would get Frieza for what he had done. Frieza asked Nappa and Radditz to follow him. Tanya was about to follow when Vegeta grabbed her wrist. "Tanya, Radditz and Nappa don’t know the truth. For now, I’d like to keep it that way." He said.

"Of course, I won’t tell." Said Tanya.

"I don’t know what’s gonna happen to me now, but I’d like for us to make a promise to each other.".

"Yes.".

"We’ll stay friends for as long as possible.".
"Is that a promise?".

"A promise for all time.".

Tanya and Vegeta walked with each other as they got off the ship and so began a great adventure for them both.

~~~15 years later~~~

The promise that Vegeta and Tanya made that day had not diminished over the last 15 years. Through the battles, missions and beatings from Frieza, Tanya and Vegeta had kept their promise. They even still had the 2 necklaces Tanya had given Vegeta when they turned 5. But now they were adults, and Frieza was developing plans for the both of them. Vegeta had grown up to look like his father, minus the beard and the fact that his hair was black like his mother’s.

Tanya had gone through changes of her own. She no longer had the freckles along her nose but her eyes and hair were the same and her voice was more deeper and sexier, like her father’s but in a feminine way, and she grown up to be very beautiful.

She wore the same armour as her father and she even had the same head piece as him. But she was very much like her mother, kind and caring, but on the battle field, she had to be cold and ruthless, even though she didn’t like it. It was Vegeta’s 20th birthday that day and Tanya had already greeted him with a small kiss on the cheek making him blush, and his present, new battle armour she had gotten Jeice to give to her. The day before which was Tanya’s birthday, Vegeta had given her a saiyan anklet, (Don’t ask how he had that.). Frieza knew it was Vegeta’s birthday and he was going to make him an offer. "Tonight, the saiyan prince will be mine." He thought.

Then, he saw Dianna walking through the hall, with all the personnel shouting cat calls at her. Personally, he didn’t care for Dianna or Tanya. Frieza figured that if he couldnt get Vegeta into his bed, maybe he would get Zarbon instead. "Jeice!" Frieza shouted over the telecom.

"Yes Lord Frieza." Said Jeice.

"You know that little crush you’ve had on Dianna, well, tomorrow you get your chance to make your move. Use it wisely, and make sure you finish the job properly.".

Frieza closed the link. "Either I have Vegeta or Zarbon, either will do.".

~~~Later~~~

"Hey Tanya, Frieza needs to see me in an hour. Do you have any idea why?" Asked Vegeta.

"Not a clue. Maybe he’s got a new mission for you." Said Tanya.

They were about to walk around the corner, when they heard Jeice boasting about something. Getting interested, they hid behind the wall and listened in on them. "Hey, I can’t wait till tomorrow." He said to Berter.

"Why, what’s gonna happen?" Asked Berter.

"Frieza’s given me a chance to get my hands on Dianna.".

Tanya held back a gasp and Vegeta put his hand over her mouth, he knew she was about to go into her screaming fit and it wasn’t a good idea. "Whoa, you dog. What’s Zarbon said about all this?" Asked Berter.

"I don’t know and I don’t care. It’s just a shame that Frieza wants me to kill her when I’m done." Said Jeice.

"Oh no, Tanya, we gotta warn your mother." Vegeta whispered.

He let Tanya go and they ran back down the halls to find Dianna. But then, of all the bad luck in the universe, guess who they bumped into. "Ahh, Vegeta, so nice to see you. You might as well come and meet with me now, save you time later." Said Frieza.

"Vegeta, we gotta…" Started Tanya

"I’ll be right with you Lord Frieza." Said Vegeta.

"Good, good, I’ll be waiting." Said Frieza.

Frieza stalked off and Vegeta turned to Tanya, who looked ready to strangle him. "Find your parents, tell them what’s going on and get your mother on the next ship outta here." He whispered to her.

Tanya didn’t hesitate and she ran to her parents quarters. Then, Vegeta went to face the monster. He knew that it was Frieza that ordered his mother’s murder. He didn’t want Tanya to go through the same thing.

"MOM, DAD!" Screamed Tanya as she burst into her parents living quarters.

"Tanya, what’s wrong?" Asked Dianna, coming out from her bedroom.

"Mom, pack your stuff, now. I’ll find Dad and have him make the flight arrangements!".

"Wait Tanya, what’s going on?".

"Frieza’s ordered your rape and murder. Jeice is gonna do it tomorrow, I gotta get you off the planet!".

"What’s all this about?" Asked a voice.

Zarbon walked in and Tanya turned to face him. "Dad, if you heard, you’d know. We gotta get Mom off the planet and I mean, NOW!" Shouted Tanya.

Dianna ran back into her bedroom to pack her things and Zarbon got Cooie to make some flight arrangements for Dianna to be sent back to earth. Tanya just wondered whether or not Vegeta was OK back there with Frieza.

Next time: Vegeta refuses an offer made by Frieza and pays dearly for it. And as Tanya and Zarbon try to help Dianna escape, Frieza stops them in there tracks. Then, Vegeta gets a message from Raditz about another Saiyan.
