Last time: Dodoria attacked Tanya, seriously injuring her. Krillin and Gohan found her. Tanya found out the name of the little Namek and she met Bulma. Vegeta fought with Dodoria, eventually prevailing over him. And the dragonball gang and Tanya made a plan to keep both Vegeta and Frieza from finding the last two dragonballs.


How it all Began- Part 4.

Vegeta flew through the sky. He felt very satisfied with killing Dodoria and then he turned his attentions towards finding the dragonballs. He was a little concerned when Dodoria had told him he’d hurt Tanya but Vegeta knew his friend all to well, she wasn’t hurt anymore and he would be seeing her soon. Then, he came across a Namek village.
Vegeta landed, earning a few stares and whispers from the village inhabitants. “An invader.” One gasped.

“What does he want?” Asked another.

Vegeta looked around. “Which one of you is the elder? I have come to take the dragonball away!” He yelled.

An old Namek came out, followed by two younger ones. “Who is this.” He began.

“I am the elder. Now tell me, why do you want the dragonball?”.

“I don’t think that’s any of your concern frog face.” Said Vegeta.

“FROG FACE! I’ll never give you the dragonball. So if you plan on attacking me, do it! Take your best shot!”.

The namek elder had alot of spunk, but it didn’t throw Vegeta off track. “OK.”.

Vegeta made a gun sign with his fingers and pointed it towards the elder. “Bang.”.

“So Tanya, how did a nice girl like you and an evil guy like Vegeta, become such great friends?” Asked Bulma, putting a tray of food in front of Tanya.

“Well, we met each other the day after Vegeta was born. My mother, Dianna, was very good friends with Vegeta’s mother, Taina. For the first 3 weeks of his life, Vegeta had his mother with him. But after that, Dodoria killed her and Vegeta had to depend totally on his father.” Started Tanya.

“But what happened after that?” Asked Gohan.

“Vegeta was raised by his father. Me and my family would come every chance we got, and Vegeta and me always stayed in contact. When we turned 5, I gave him a special necklace. It’s an earth symbol, Yin and Yang, you might recognise it.”.

She reached into her armour and pulled out her necklace, the white half of the symbol. Bulma took it. “You made this?” Asked Bulma.

“Me and my mother, it was a hobby of hers. She was human.” Said Tanya.

“You kept the white half and Vegeta kept the black half.” Said Gohan.

“Right kid, it was a way for us to show our friendship.”.

Tanya’s eyes began to darken. “But a few days later, Frieza took Vegeta from the planet Vegetasei. The king tried to save him, but it caused the death of him and every other saiyan.”.

“Except Vegeta, Nappa, Radditz…” Started Bulma.

“And my Dad.” Said Gohan.

“What’s his saiyan name?” Asked Tanya.

“I think I heard Radditz call him Kakarot when I saw him.” Said Bulma.

“Oh, Bardock’s second born. I thought that he went with the planet.”.

“You knew him?” Asked Gohan.

“Not personally, I only saw him once when I was 3 and he was on a newborn when I saw him.” Said Tanya.

“Wow.”.

“Yeah, wow.”.

Tanya picked up her fork and began eating. “So, what happened to your Mom?” Asked Gohan.

“Frieza was going to have one of his henchmen attack and kill her. Me and Vegeta got wind of it and tried to warn her. Vegeta bought me a little time, he stalled Frieza while I got to my Mom and Dad. We managed to get her to the ship to Earth and as it took off, Frieza showed up and destroyed the ship, while my Mom was on it.” Said Tanya, her eyes shining a little.

“I’m sorry, we wouldn’t have asked if…” Started Bulma.

“It’s OK. The only reason I’m here is to somehow steal the dragonballs and wish back my Mom. Then, I can take my family and I to earth, start a new life.”.

“We can help you. If you want us to that is.” Said Gohan.

Tanya giggled at the young one’s shyness. “I would really appreciate it kid.” Said Tanya, patting his head.

“OK! But, let’s finish eating first.”.

Bulma and Tanya giggled at him again, and ate their food too.

“How could you do such an awful thing?” Shouted the elder, holding his dead child close.

Vegeta snickered. “Still won’t give me the dragonball. Fine, I’ll find it myself.”.

He felt around and went to a nearby hut. The Namek stood up. “Stop!” He rasped.

“Don’t ever try to stop me.” Vegeta growled back.

He fired a blast and vaporised the Namek elder. “Or you’ll find yourself in a new dimension.”.

He walked into the hut. “Nice hiding place idiots, I could've found it blindfolded.” He snickered.

He began walking towards the lake. “I’ll just hide you here.” He said, as he through the dragonball into the lake.
“Now no-one knows where it is. Except for me.”.

He flew away, thinking all the while, that he was going to defeat Frieza.

6 hours into the flight, Krillin and Dende had to stop. Krillin had felt Vegeta’s energy and they made a mad dash for the nearest hiding place. But when Vegeta turned and flew in the other direction, Krillin and Dende flew as far away as possible without being detected.

“Tanya has to be around here somewhere.” Said Zarbon.

He had realised the second he’d let her go, that letting Tanya go after those two earthlings was a bad idea. It was most probable that Tanya and Dodoria started fighting each other instead. “I shouldn’t have let her go after them, Dodoria is too…Huh, what’s that.” Said Zarbon as he saw something heading his way.

It came into clearer view and he saw it was Vegeta. “Huh, Vegeta.” He gasped.

Vegeta stopped a few feet away from Zarbon. “Well, well, if it isn’t Zarbon. We meet again.”.

Zarbon continued to stare. “I’ve already disposed of that useless Dodoria, and now it looks like your turn.”.

“WHAT! I find that hard to swallow.” Said Zarbon.

Vegeta gave a little throaty laugh. “I thought you might.” He said.

“I say you’re bluffing.” Zarbon shot at him.

“Well if you don’t believe me, why don’t you try me for yourself.”.

Normally, Zarbon would be more than happy to accept his challenge. But then he remembered his daughter. “Vegeta, I would love nothing more than to kick your saiyan behind into the next plain. But, my daughter is missing, and I need to find her.” Said Zarbon.

“Tanya’s missing. Since when, I’ve been looking for her.” Said Vegeta.

“YOU STAY AWAY FROM HER!”.

“Did I touch a nerve. Could it be the woman who looked up to you since child hood, stopped looking up to you when you came back from Frieza’s, smiling. Maybe she doesn’t want to be found, by you at least.”.

That did it. Zarbon charged at Vegeta, full force. But it didn’t do much good, and it didn’t take long for Vegeta to knock Zarbon to the ground. “Do you see now Zarbon, you can’t defeat me.” Said Vegeta, in his normal stance.

Then, Zarbon started laughing. “Well, I must say, you impress me Vegeta.” Started Zarbon

He turned to face Vegeta. “Your fighting skills have come a long way, but not quite far enough.” He continued.

Zarbon began to pick himself up off the ground. “You know, it’s just like I’ve said all along. You talk big, but you can’t back it up.” Said Vegeta.

Zarbon wiped his mouth. “Oh Vegeta, you just don’t get it.” Zarbon said.

Vegeta burst out laughing. “You crack me up!” He laughed.

“So you think it’s funny do you. Well let me wipe that silly smile off your face.” Zarbon growled.

“Humph.”.

“I think it’s time I showed you my real power, I don’t think you can handle it.”.

Zarbon pulled his arm warmer over his knuckles. “Ever hear the old saying ‘Beauty is only skin deep.’. Well right now, all you can see is the beauty.” Zarbon continued.

“Beauty huh, I think you could use a makeover. Ha, I say you’re making up some stupid story to get out of the inevitable.” Vegeta chuckled.

“And I say it’s time to settle our little score once and for all. Are you up for the challenge? Because I know I am.”.
The wind blew around them. “Go for it!” Vegeta goaded.

“As you wish, so be it, but I warned you.” Zarbon said.

Then, his muscles began to bulge and swell. His face went from boyishly handsome, to the stuff nightmares are made of. “What is that!?!” Vegeta gasped as Zarbon finished his transformation.

“You saw the beauty side of me before, now with great pleasure, I introduce to you, THE BEAST!”.

Zarbon dashed towards Vegeta. Zarbon kneed Vegeta in the gut, then slapped him to the ground. As Vegeta was getting up, Zarbon gave him a straight kick to the jaw and sent him flying upwards. Then, Zarbon flew after him and began a devastating load of punches and kicks. Vegeta was sent flying into a near-by rock face. He went in one end and came out the other. “How can he be so strong. I’m a saiyan, he should be nothing to me!” Vegeta thought angrily as Zarbon floated over him.

“OK Gohan, give me you best shot. Don’t hold anything back.” Said Tanya.

She and Gohan were training outside, with Bulma looking at the dragon-radar. Gohan got into a fighting stance and charged full force at Tanya. As he was about to hit her, Tanya fazed out from in front. With Gohan confused, she was able to give him a strong kick that sent him flying into the pond near by. Tanya landed as Gohan came up. “Hey, no fair. You didn’t tell me you were gonna do that!” He cried.

“Ha ha. Well, if I’d have done that, you wouldn’t have been caught off guard. That’s another lesson in fighting Gohan, always try to surprise your opponent.” Laughed Tanya, as she went to help Gohan out of the water.

He grabbed her hand. “Oh, you mean like this!” He yelled as he pulled Tanya into the water.

She fell in head first. “I did it! I did it! I caught you off guard Tanya!” Gohan giggled.

He stopped celebrating when he thought she’d been down there too long. “Tanya.”.

Something grabbed his legs and pulled him under. Then, Gohan and Tanya came up, laughing and coughing. They swam up to the bank and climbed up. “Nice work Gohan, keep that up and we’ll make a fighter out of you yet.” Said Tanya, wringing out her plait.

Gohan took off his white neckerchief, (You know, that white thing that was around his neck on Namek.), and wrung that out. “Hey Tanya, did you and Vegeta used to, you know, play like that?” Asked Gohan.

“Yeah, now that you mention it, we always played like that. There was a pond right by our base. It was crystal clear and unpolluted, even with all the chemicals that were being used. My mother would always take us down there when we were young. But father would always come and get us right when we enjoying ourselves. When mother died, I went there for one last time and dropped a white rose in there. White roses were mother’s favourite.” Said Tanya, tears in her eyes.

“Didn’t anybody help you threw that?” Asked Bulma, she couldn’t help but overhear.

“Vegeta was the biggest help. My father stopped caring after a while. When him and Frieza began becoming more intimate with each other, I began to believe he forgot about my mother…and about me. Guess I was right after all.” Said Tanya.

“But a father can’t do that! No father can forget about his own daughter, it’s not possible.” Yelled Gohan, suddenly very angry.

“They can Gohan, and mine did. I’m a Rogue now and forever because of Frieza taking my father from me. Not all father’s are like that and my father wasn’t before mother’s death, but they can change Gohan.”.

Gohan was seething with anger. “But from what I understand, your father loves you very much. Just don’t take him for granted, K.” Said Tanya, patting Gohan’s shoulder.

Gohan nodded. Then, both Tanya and Gohan felt a huge power surge. “You feel that Tanya. Man, what power.” Said Gohan.

Tanya focused on it. “Father?” Tanya said quietly.

Zarbon sent Vegeta to the ground again. Vegeta clutched his right arm, it felt like what it was broken. “How can I beat him. I never expected him to be so strong.” He thought.

Zarbon blasted at him again and Vegeta flew up into the air. Zarbon came up behind him and got him in the headlock and grabbed his arm. “I’m tired of this horseplay. It’s time to end this right now mate. ARGH!”.

Zarbon’s sentence was cut off by Vegeta elbowing him in the ribs. After about 6 or 7 tries, Vegeta managed to get Zarbon off of him. Zarbon clutched his ribs and growled angrily. Vegeta began floating towards the ground. “C’mon Vegeta, you are a saiyan.” Vegeta thought as he struggled to regain control of his senses.

Zarbon towered over him, now smirking evilly. Then, he grabbed the back of Vegeta’s head and gave him a almighty kick in the gut. Then, began a barrage of vicious punches to his face. Clasping his hands together, Zarbon brought them down on to Vegeta’s back and sent him plummeting towards the ground. Zarbon flew down behind and grabbed him. Once he did, they picked up speed, heading towards the ground. “TIME TO TUCK YOU IN AND SAY GOODNIGHT!”.

With that, Vegeta yelled as Zarbon let go and sent him flying into the ground. He created a huge crater where he landed. Some rocks gave way to the waters next to his crater, and let the water into the crater. “Poor little Vegeta, how many times did I say, put on your life-jacket. But d’you think he’d listen. Nooo, ha ha.”.

Zarbon transformed back to his normal self. “Well, I guess I should be heading back to Frieza to make my report, just one more saiyan up the creek without a paddle.”.

“One of the powers has just disappeared, I hope whoever it was is OK.” Thought Tanya.

“Hey, do think the fight’s over Tanya?” Asked Gohan.

“Yeah, I just don’t know who won.” Said Tanya.

Then, they heard a beeping from behind them. “We’ve picked up a dragonball.” Said Bulma excitedly.

Gohan and Tanya came to see. “Hey, it’s moving.” Said Gohan.

“It must be Krillin on his way back.” Said Tanya.

“Hey, hold on. If Frieza has 5 of the dragonballs right here, and Krillin is on his way back with another, then what’s this one doing on here by itself?” Said Bulma, confused.

“Which direction is it in?”.

They began looking in each direction. “It looks like it came from…over in that direction.” Said Gohan.

“Isn’t that where we sensed Vegeta earlier?” Asked Tanya.

Bulma gasped. “But there’s nothing there now, I can’t sense anything now.” Said Gohan.

They thought about the situation for a moment. “I know, I bet the Nameks wouldn’t tell Vegeta where the dragonball was so he never found it.” Said Bulma.

Gohan and Tanya looked at her. “Vegeta must have left thinking the village didn’t have a dragonball at all.”.

“Yeah, but he left his mark. He must have decimated the village before leaving.” Said Tanya.

“Give me the dragon radar Bulma. I’ll go get the dragonball and bring it back here.” Said Gohan.

“Alright, but make sure you’re careful.” Said Bulma, handing him the dragon radar.

“I’ll go with you Gohan. Vegeta may be close by so you may need some help.” Said Tanya.

“OK. Stay out of sight Bulma, we’ll be back soon.”.

Tanya and Gohan took off. Soon into the flight, the dragon radar began beeping. “We were right Tanya, it’s here.” Said Gohan.

“Then all we have to do is keep a look out for the Namek village.” Said Tanya.

They picked up the pace and sped off towards the village.

Meanwhile, Zarbon had reported back to Frieza. He told Frieza about his fight with Vegeta and how he’d knocked Vegeta into the ground and left him there to drown as the water flooded around him. Frieza was not happy with this at all, for he then found out from a soldier he’d sent to find a Namek village, had found it completely destroyed and the dragonball gone. The guard was then blasted as a visual aid to Zarbon. Frieza then summoned a guard to contact the Ginyu force. He then ordered Zarbon to capture Vegeta. “But sir, what about my daughter. Dodoria could have beaten her within an inch of her life. She might need me.” Said Zarbon.

“Zarbon, if Tanya can’t survive on her own for a few more hours then you and Dianna raised a weak daughter. Now, GO AND FIND VEGETA!”.

A bird landed in the pond where the fight was. As it began cleaning itself, a hand shot up and grabbed it’s legs, pulling him down into the water. Vegeta then emerged and grabbed the shoreline. He gasped for air as he climbed on the shore. “I’ll get you for this Zarbon, you’ll pay for this humiliation. And when I’m done with you, I’ll take down Frieza himself!”.

As he crawled along the bank, a certain memory came to mind…

Vegeta walked along the corridor to Tanya’s room. Today was Tanya’s 19th birthday and he’d made a gift for her. He’d just purged a planet that was famous for it’s jewels and he’d picked up a few while he was there. He’d made a gold anklet for her, that he’d encrusted with diamonds. “She’s always told me I was good with my hands.” He thought smugly.

He knocked on her door. No answer. He tried again. Still no answer. He tried the door, which was open. Dianna was on a mission with Dodoria and the Ginyu so Zarbon and Tanya shared the big room. As he walked into the room, he heard the shower running and some very loud scrubbing. At the sound of the door opening and closing, the person in the shower cried out. “Who’s there?”.

It was Tanya, she sounded in pain. “It’s me Tanya. What’s up.” Asked Vegeta, beginning to sound concerned.

“No…Vegeta, go away. You shouldn’t have to see me like this.” She cried.

“Like what? Tanya, what’s wrong?”.

Vegeta was about to storm the bathroom when he heard the water cut off and Tanya step out of the shower. She opened the door and came out in the towel. Vegeta now knew what she didn’t want him to see. Ugly purple and blue bruises marred the beautiful tanned skin of her arms, legs and from what Vegeta could see, her chest as well. It didn’t take a genius to work out what had happened, she’d been raped. Vegeta didn’t know what to say. Words weren’t going to comfort her. Vegeta was angry, really angry. When someone got raped, they were in pain and lots of it. “But Tanya is…was a virgin, the pain must have been twice as much.” He thought.

Then, he saw crystal blue tears fall on the floor. Vegeta did the only thing he could think of, he gently put his arms around her and pulled her into a hug. As he gently rubbed her back, he heard her whisper over and over, “Father, why…”

“I’ll make you pay for this Zarbon…For everything you put the two of us through, I’ll make you pay.” Vegeta thought.

Then, exhaustion took over and he gave into the realm of unconsciousness. That was about the same time as Zarbon saw him. He landed next to the unconscious saiyan. “Hello tough guy, feeling a bit water logged are we? Ah your alright, lets just get you back to the ship and find out what we can do to make you talk.”.

Zarbon grabbed his wrist and hauled him up. “Let’s go.”.

Then, he took of back towards Frieza’s ship.

Next time- Tanya and Gohan find the Namek village and begin to search for the dragonball. Zarbon puts Vegeta in the regeneration tank.
